[Q] LCD density - is it possible to get all the goodies together? - Samsung Galaxy Mini

LCD density 120 .. nice but a lot of programs and functions are not completely visable
if i change it to 110 or 115 than i get the following
the good:
My icons in a 5 x 4 raster looks great
In widget locker i can finally set the lockscreen volume and i have more space in the screen
Some widgets like beautiful clock/weather look even better than before
in the USSD code screens i can finally see all the lines/inputs
the bad:
Zoner AV crashes immediately - when it tries to generate the icon in the status bar
Games like coindozer comes to almost a complete halt
Gallery takes hours to create thumbnails
is there an option/setting to make it all come to work ?
A.

There is a fixed dpi setting for your phone.. If you change it some apps won't work.. For all apps to work, you must use the default dpi settings

Iwas already afraid of that

I cant help you with the first 2 issues but i can help with the third. You can do one of two things, install a extra launcher to replace ADW call launcher pro (its in the market and its free and easy) or you can install launcher2.apk, which looks perfectly identical to froyo default screen, I dont think this one is in the market, but its all over this forum. Personally I like the launcher pro rather then the launcher2, but its all personal preference.
I believe the reason that N1 torch high brightness doesn't work is because of the kernel used for 720p camera or something like that.

Well since you didnt write WHICH apps or WHICH home I suppose you are speaking about the Samsung ones, which are written for 240 DPI and not compatible with other ones.
There are versions here for the apps or home working on the smaller DPI but you have to search.
But rather then that, use alternatives likes launcher pro for home and for apps, depends what you want.
Also in spare parts, uncheck compatibility mode can help you with some apps
Btw I dont use some third party app change the density since its just a line you have to change in build.prop. So I dont know if it has some special functions making the apps compatible

[Q] App to change Icon Spacing

Hi is there a app or setting to change the icon and Widget spacing? Iwant to put them closer, there is so much space wasted.
Many third party launchers such as launcher pro or adw allow you to adjust the amount of columns and rows used allowing you to add more icons.

how about an edit so you don't have to run another app
I would think there would be a configuration file with spacing in it that you could edit so you don't have to run another app. There are a lot of good launcher apps but the only thing I don't like about the home screen is the spacing and don't want to have to have another app running just to resolve that.
What rom are you running? If you are rooted there are roms that have stock but only icons spacing changed. Can't find post right now. If you aren't rooted you'll need to write to HTC to change their launcher.

[Hack] LCD density set with rom toolbox

Hello,
I used rom toolbox to lower LCD density from 240 to 190, as a result I got much more usable space on phone because all the icons are smaller and much more content can fit on screen while everything is still readable.
There can be some bugs that have to be fixed by custom launchers so heres my setup:
-Official ICS V30a rooted rom
-apex launcher
-grid size set to one higher than stock
-rom toolbox pro (free version works as well)
-(UPDATE 1) widgetlocker for lockscreen
Only bug that apears with this setup is on a lockscreen, transparen gradiant is small, visible and ugly but Im gonna fix that with custom lockscreen and update you on that.
Have you ever tried this? Whats your experience?
Heres how to do this:
ROOT REQUIERED!
Get rom toolbox, go to performance, click build.prop, click file icon upper left in top action bar and you will see LCD density. Set it to 190, reboot. Then play arround with launcher to make it look good.
UPDATE 1: I used widgetlocker to configure lockscreen and that completes the setup.

How to use different grid sizes at the same time (4x4 on home and 5x5 on next screen)

I'm on a Samsung Note 5 and I've been trying to make my widgets more readable by having them on a 4x4 grid sized screen, but I really like the room that I get for my app icons on the 5x5 screens. Is there any way that I can have both going on at the same time?
I'm rooted and on BreakDown's DPD1 v2.1 rom. I've got Xposed and have tried many different apps from the Play Store, Xposed, etc. I've also tried apps that change the DPI setting of my apps, and they do help with my widgets, but they ruin the app when I open them. For example, I can't reach the "Delete" button in Evernote because the DPI settings have made it sink under the screen. It makes the widget just the right size though. No 3rd party launcher seems to be able to do what I want either. I thought Zen UI could, but the grid size option is only for the app drawer and not the homescreen.
Ideally, I'd like for there to be a button or setting that let's me change the grid size on a per screen basis, instead of the universal setting that there is now. Can anyone help me out?
