[Q] can i flash without download mode? - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
Just out of curiosity, what will happen if I connect my Ace (switched on) to the computer, load the files in the Odin and press start.
Can I flash the phone without getting into the download mode?

I have a phone, which I can not get into the download mode. So that's why I wonder what will happen if I flash without getting into the download mode.

The ROM will not be flashed that is all

So that means if I have the correct rom files in Odin, either the phone will be flashed (if I have the download mode), or nothing will happen (if I don't have the download mode). Right?
Because when I press the button combination for the download mode. I didn't have any display on the screen. However, the phone can still be recognized by the computer and Odin.

It will work as long as the phone isn't on an os and the problem is the phone is gonna boot and then there might be problems as the os u are running will crash...If u are stuck at ace logo it might work
U know that tut that u pull the bat and press home+volume+power and insert the battery and nothing happens on the screen (Hardbricked ace) it's the same
But.....
DON'T TRY IF U DON'T NEED TO!!!OTHERWIZE U WILL ENDUP LIKE ME!

1.) nothing could happen
2.) could be flashed (very unlikely i would say)
3.) you get a very nice paperweight
I had the same Problem with the stock recovery. cant understand why (i already reached it months ago)...could be due to the wind direction
but seriously...why do you want to risk it? just do it like the "manual" says or, cuz you cant go in dlmode, leav it.

maybe I better leave it as it is. The system now is quite ok.
Thanks guys!

Most Likey no effect on the flash
But you could give it a shot

Reboot download would never work , for Download Mode can only be accessed using key combinations

If you are not going to download mod, your phone is not ready to flash a new OS. If you have any trouble with flashing see this Bro,

[Q] Gingerbread 2.3.6. cannot enter to recovery menu

Hi,
I bought galaxy ace a week ago... updated via the latest gingerbread 2.3.6. (official way). After few days of testing the phone I found out that it is quite slow therefore I decided to root it... there is the problem, I cannot enter to recovery menu (home + power), even to download menu (home + vol down + power), everytime I hold the above mentioned combination I got soft reset of the phone... no menu, no nothing. I could not find anything on the web.. Could you help me how to enter to recovery menu OR how to root to CM7.2. a CWM without entering to recovery menu.
I believe the recovery menu has been blocked with new gingerbread 2.3.6.
Thank you.
I don't think so (about the blocked recovery) ..u go on trying dude ..recovery mode is a bit tougher to get in stock rom ..u should get it on the 10th attempt ( at least) I believe ..btw there are rooting guides in this forum ...check them out
Proud to own an ANDROID
Prouder to be a part of XDA
does it mean that i should hold power + home for 10 soft restarts?
I think so here's a tip press the home button first ..keep it pressed and then press the power button UNTILL THE SCREEN COMES ON...recovery mode is tougher to get in stock rom(well at least for me )..in cm7 its nothing ..

Prouder to be a part of XDA
I tried to soft restart 10 times no luck... even with your tip...can anyone else help me please?
only odin can help you as if you are not able to get into any kind of recovery and want cwm then odin is the only path for you .. do backup contacts, sms if you want
all other things will be lost..
and if you don't want to loose things then choose to skip rooting and love what you have now
and 2.3.6 haven't blocked recovery btw as i am using it
I cant use ODIN as I cannot access to download menu (vol down + home + power). Anyone else who can me advice?
turn your phone off!
Now without pressing the power button!
Hold the center button and plug your charger!
Still does not work, any other solution?
Try this if you have root access then install ROM toolbox from the market and try going into recovery via the app

HE CANNOT ENTER RECOVERY MODE!
If you bought that way you should take it back show problem and let service take care of that!
Say that you were trying to do a factory reset when you found out that you coudn´t enter recovery mode!
I'm on stock ROM, just flashed this morning using ODIN. Even root will go then. To go into recovery press the home+power button till the phone turns on, leave the power button not the home button. You should land up in recovery. If that doesn't work then try using ADB. Go to adb with your phone normally on:
adb reboot recovery
but try flash recovery again
to enter fastboot:
adb reboot bootloader
And if You've worked with ODIN then download a new bootloader and flash it using ODIN.I think (not sure) the problem is with secondary bootloader (SBL).Put the phone into download mode using ADB:
adb reboot download
This will put your phone in download mode. Check Odin now, and if ID:COM has turned yellow, you’re good to gnce you’re satisfied, press the Start button on Odin. The flash will take couple of seconds, after which your phone will reboot automatically.
That’s it. This should fix your download and recovery mode 3-button combo issue. You can now apply any mods with the normal procedure.

You had mentioned updating to 2.3.6 in the official way? Kies or Service center? If Kies then did you get the download mode when it was updating? And No, Recovery is not blocked on 2.3.6

I would take it in to the service center and tell them you can't access (stock)recovery

yeps it might be difficult first time,,,but never after i found it difficult,,,,
u need a working hand and usable brain....
hold the middle button and power button and as when u see the start screen just let go off the power button but still hold on middle button,,,
and u are in recovery mode...
same goes for download mode
keep hold on the vol down+middle button+power and then just let go off power button as u see the start screen(rather anything coming on screen )
enjoy

there is also an app in market ... quick boot or speed boot something like that...
and it DOESNT need root permission (long time no use so dont remember exactly but it should be)
u can try that
I had the same problem, but luckily I found this thread.
I can enter to recovery ONLY with adb reboot recovery command, pressing home button does nothing.

[Q] HELP! Phone stuck in unuseable state

Hi
I've been having problems with the HOME button on my phone. I've been running PA2.51 on it so thought it was probably the ROM. I went to flash the newer 2.99 ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115167
After I followed the instructions I rebooted the phone and now I'm stuck with loads of FC! I can't even reboot into recovery or download mode because the stupid HOME button doesn't work.
I don't know what to do??
Can anyone help or advise please? I'd want to get my files off the thing if I can't save it sigh

You should flash with at least 50% of the battery.
Try charging or make this:
Take out the sim card, sd card and battery.
Connect to pc.
Press download mode buttons combination for 6 secs or more.
Put the battery.
Run Odin as administrator.

[Q] Help unbricking Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830

Hello everyone,
I've been using this community for a while, but this is my first post. One or two months ago I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and installed Imaginary ICS Final along with CWM Recovery 5.0.2.6. Everything worked fine but today I decided to update to a 4.4 custom rom. I installed CM 11 from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2659269, but after selecting my language a popup apeared which said "The setup aplication has stopped working", so I looked for another ROM. I found this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2684893, but it required TWRP Recovery to be installed. I downloaded it, copied it to my SD and tried to install it form CWM 5.0.2.6.
Now, my phone goes into a blue screen whether I try to boot normally or into the recovery menu and I don't now how to solve it. Since I can boot into download mode, I've tried using Odin, but it doesn't recognize my phone. Can anyone help me, please? Thanks a lot in advance.
PS: I'm using Windows 8.1 x64.
EDIT: Now Odin recognizes it, but it gets stuck in "<1> setup connection...".
EDIT 2: I've solved it flashing through Odin with a PC running a clean installation of Windows 7.

You usually get the "setup connection" error when you are in the Emergency Download Mode instead of Download Mode. You go to Emergency Download Mode by holding down Volume Up + Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it loads a screen that says "Emergency Download Mode" and you go to Download mode by holding down Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it does load the correct download screen with the yellowish message that say "Downloading…". Please make sure you are going to the Download Mode. Then try to flash again. Do post the result. Hope I Helped

when u have successfully installed the stock rom from Odin, go to recoverymode, then to clockworkmod, remove cahe and dalvik data and then install the rom that u want.
This shud do as it worked for me..

To enter download mode, put usb cable into your phone, press and hold vol down button without bixby button, make sure your screen comes to black(total shut down if its on bootloop), then put the usb cable into your pc. It should detect your phone

Hi,the only thing you can do is reflash with odin.
It is because you had unlocked bootloader.
When you have unlocked bl and flash Q it will bootloop.
yesterday I had the same problem (update beta Q with BL unlock). I couldn't open either downloading mod or recovery. Bootloop. I left the phone "resting" overnight and tried again in the morning. Hold Volume- and Bixby together and then connect the PC cable. download mod opened(possibly a coincidence). Odin worked.

try letting the phone die then when bootloop stops inset cable and do the download mode combo, failing that when the device is looping does it connect sucsessfully to your computer because i had a similar experiance, at the samsung logo screen although display was looping adb commands did acually work, i then entered adb reboot download in cmd prompt and the download screen appeard and was odin compatible for a complete reflash of the firmware with magisk patched AP file
i hope this helps !! best of luck my friend

Hello,
I've the same problem. To fix it :
- Go to recovery mode (when your phone is shutdown, press Bixby+Vol Up + Power and realase all after Samsung's Logo)
- Wipe Cache
- Wipe System
- Reboot System
I have the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy A7 2018. It keeps showing every 5 seconds the logo in an infinite bootloop and i cannot enter recovery or download mode. Any help?

sorry, i don't know if it's been fixed but if have read the thread you will noticed that there isn't a quick fix until you wait till the device goes off, then either your boot into recovery mode (wipe, cache, reset and reboot) or download mode (flash stock rom with odin).

This is why I have hate not being take the battery out of a device. Atleast the S10 doesn't seem likes it's too hard, if it were me I probably just remove the back cover and pop the battery out rather than wait for the battery to die. The back cover seems to just snap off and on, almost like they could have just made it removable in the first place, but then of course too many people would just buy new batteries when they wear out rather than a new phone. Gotta love planned obsolescence.
