Build.prop edits to speed up and for better preformance
DO NOT use v6 or any of the other battery saver scripts.

Wow, this Rom is SNAPPY! Haven't played around with it much yet (just installed half an hour ago), but so far the 1.1 is stable...had to wipe the cache and dalvik 3 times to get around a frozen phone at the google sign-in during set up, but it's been great since.
Another great Rom Davros!

This rom is amazing. My only issue is that there isn't any built in ad blocker. That's nit picking though! Greatjob!

I want to try this later. For ad blocking, get "Ad Free" from the market.

Is anyone else having issues with not being able to wake their phone? Oddest thing...the LED is blinking indicating I have a message, so I know it's on, but nothing will make the screen turn back on.

weird... are u using setcpu? profiles?

Negative to both. I use an app called 'Screen Off' as a swipe shortcut to shut my screen off. Maybe it's causing some weirdness? This happened both with the lock screen in the rom and Milocker, which I have since uninstalled.
The only other thing I noticed is that I had 'Use Rotary Lockscreen' checked, but it didn't appear to do anything (the same lockscreen appeared).

ya it prolly is...

Haha yes, yes I do. With ADW launcher, I set swipe up to activate this app, so I can easily put my phone to sleep with one hand (thumb swipe) before I throw it in my pocket. The power button isn't convenient for me when one handing.
Anyway, it hasn't reoccurred today since unchecking 'Use Rotary Lock Screen', so hopefully that was the issue.
Still loving this rom by the way.

The power button on one of my d1's wore out there's a button remap app in market. But ya for recovery your screwed and you get lucky some tines and it works really well ir hardly at all

That is actually a cool idea..wonder if it would work with go launcher..I tried adw but it didn't offer all the choices go does...what's the name of the app u use?

It's called Screen Off Widget (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...EsImNvbS5zZWx0emVyLnNjcmVlbl9vZmZfd2lkZ2V0Il0.) but it launches as an app with ADW. It doesn't actually lock the device, it turns the screen black, then the phone sleeps/locks after about 5 seconds.
When I was on a CM9 rom, I used one simply called 'Lock Screen', which was actually better because it put the phone right to sleep, but doesn't work for me on this Eclipse rom. It should work with GO launcher too...if this one doesn't try a few others. I went through about 5 before settling on this one.

This is a modified, awesomer version of the Froyo TouchWiz launcher.

-No more 16-bit disabled version... everyone seemed to prefer the speed improvements of the enabled version
---Features---
-Landscape mode (270° rotation)
-Transparent app drawer background and no icon backdrops
-New fly-in effect for app drawer icons
-Removed text "Press and hold this page to add content" from blank screens
-Galaxy Tab specific code removed to reduce app size

Installation (If you're a noob, I recommend using Root Explorer. If you're not, you probably don't need this installation guide.)
1. Copy the default TouchWiz30Launcher.apk and TouchWiz30Launcher.odex (if applicable) from /system/app to your SD card as a backup.
2. Delete TouchWiz30Launcher.odex (if applicable) from /system/app and copy this new TouchWiz30Launcher.apk over the old one.
3. Set permissions of the new TouchWiz30Launcher.apk to rw-r--r--. You can probably get by without doing this. Haven't tried it.
4. Important! If you are installing the new dock version you must clear launcher data to unhide the apps that were in your dock previously. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage applications > Running > com.sec.android.app.twlauncher and then force stop, clear data, and press home.
Strange... I couldn't install it. I am on Cog 2.2 beta 9.

Just to clear this out of the way for everyone else...
Will this work on ANY version of any 2.2 rom we have? Or does this only work on DG's roms?

Great. Thank you. Can't wait to try it.

Edit: Should we remove the .odex file if we're using the stock 2.2? I backed up and replaced the stock launcher with yours, and got FC's upon reboot.

Yeah, you need to remove the odex file.
This is fantastic. Thanks for doing this!
Got it working perfectly. A wonderful mod to TouchWiz.

Edit: So it's not perfect. Here's what I've found so far.
When I'm in an app and I hit my Home key, it goes back to the home screen. No problem at all there.
When you're already at the home screen, and you hit the home key, the whole launcher FC's.
It also takes forever to load the icons on my homescreen.

Isn't the phone supposed to go to the home screen when you press the home key? It always has on any rom for me. Are you talking about the back key possibly?
When you're already at the home screen, and you hit the home key, the whole launcher FC's.
This has to be an isolated incident...both of my Captivates do not have this issue. Maybe reboot if not already done or replace and reinstall the launcher.
It also takes forever to load the icons on my homescreen.
Not sure but I am running COG 9.1.1 with Voodoo and everything is quick and I would say normal. Maybe more details about your setup so GTG can possibly give some help for your situation.

I have rebooted multiple times and it still FC's. Only now, when the launcher does FC, it opens up the browser. Pressing the back button or the home button then, only repeats the process, forcing me to have to reboot the phone.
And my setup is in my signature...
Edit: Also, when in the app drawer, one of the sorting methods is missing. The one that comes on the phone has an alphabetical grid sort that is missing. The only two we have now are the custom grid and alphabetical list.
Well, could you dump a logcat so that we can see where the crash is happening, and if all else fails you could use another launcher... My LG Optimus launcher works on my Captivate.
But seriously. Logcats help out to determine if it's a localized issue or otherwise.

I'm guessing you reduced the number of home screens to 3 or less? I set the 4th screen as default and if the 4th screen doesn't exist then you will get FC's.
The long load time is caused by your FC's. Obviously if it FC's it will have to reload the entire launcher.

I believe that feature is exclusive to the Captivate and Vibrant TouchWiz launchers. This version of the TouchWiz launcher isn't based on either of those versions. I will see if I can get that feature added back in.

Presents: VTL.Launcher v.1.6.1
****This release is now under a NEW PACKAGE NAME and no longer SIGNED DEBUG to prep for Market Release. Please uninstall the old version first. Sorry for making you do that but it is necessary and the new features and options make it worth it!****
This Launcher is designed with landscape tablets in mind! (that's not to say it doesn't also function well in portrait mode..... as it does)
First off this launcher is based on ADW.Launcher's Source code so I would like to thank anderweb for all the ground work. Most ADW Themes will work for VTL.Launcher.
Features Include:
- tablet layout optimized (smaller screens will need to play with desktop layout and dock icon size)
- elastic scrolling
- 3 individually configurable/toggleable scrollable dock bars
- individual controls per dock for background/reflection/visibility/icon size
- icon size for docks can be set different per orientation
- user folders to place shortcuts to apps, bookmarks, contacts, etc.
- icon changing for user folders and apps.
- quick action items menu when long pressing apps, folders and widgets.
- catalogs for organizing apps in the app drawers
- swipe actions on app drawer to navigate catalogs
- uncataloged catalog where new and uncatagorized apps fall
- 1 to 7 homes screens with sense-like previews
- configurable action bindings (swipe up, swipe down, home button)
- long hold uninstall from trashcan
- moveable trashcan location
- hide home screen icon labels
- auto rotate orientation
- system persistence with configurable locked orientation
- widget size spanning
- scrollable widget support
- live wallpaper support
- fullscreen mode
- backup/restore settings
- compatible with "most" ADW Themes
This should work on virtually any device. Though non large screen devices may have issues with the layouts so you will have to play with the desktop column, row numbers, dock sizes etc.
V.1.6.1 bugfix release:
-Fixed bug in app drawer with Setup Catalog Button not working.
-Added rotation capabilities and saved state to the Setup Catalog App List.
V.1.6.0 Changelog:
-Moved from Beta to Stable.
-App Drawer Performance Improvements.
-New Package name to force reinstall on proper app signing to prepare for Market.
-Added Individual Dock Controls for Icon Sizing Per Orientation (really large icons could look pixelated).
-Added Dock background and corner graphic scaling based on icon size.
-Added The Ability to Add/Remove the Bottom Dock. Side Docks Expand to claim the gap left.
-Added Individual Dock Controls for Background/Reflection.
-Added Individual Dock Controls for whether a dock should be displayed with the app drawer.
-Added the Ability to Lock Orientation either Landscape/Portrait for persistence option.
-Added Icon Changing for User Folders. New Icons then show up on desktop and in Docks.
-Added a Revert to Default option for Icon Changes on items.
-Added UnCataloged Catalog for items which you haven't placed in a catalog. New apps land here.
-Added Quick Action Item to choose Catalog.
-Added Quick Action menu capability to the app drawers. Long press any icon in drawer and don't move it.
-Added Swipe to change catalogs in the drawer. Up/down in the Horizontal drawer and left/right in the Vertical.
-Added Catalog name to the top of the app drawers.
-Rearranged the menu slightly.
-Minor Bugfixes.
-Code Cleanup Removing more of the Old Dock Stuff.

excellent work. im loving it. if i may, is there any chance to have the option of a transparent dock (no fade) and perhaps the option of no reflection in the dock? regardless, this thing is great. it feels a lot faster and smoother than launcher pro.

Great work GoJimi. I've been wanting something like this for a while.
I ended up just removing the dock bar from my ADW EX and putting my 'dock' as just standard short-cuts along the bottom. (saw this idea on another thread).
Downside is that my 'dock' is only on one screen, or I have to replicate it across all screens. This launcher solves that problem.
One request. on ADW EX I can set it to 10 x 10 columns. I think 8x8 is the most supported by this launcher? I have mine set to 10 Columns, 8 Rows.
Can this be added to VTL?
Thanks!

I'll look into it for you..... knew it was only a matter of time before people started asking for EX features... ... just so everyone knows EX isn't open source so any of those features that he has there I would have to figure it out from scratch (not that I am incapable, mind you). Just remember that when asking for EX features that it will be more work for me than just copying over some code so it will take time. Also keep in mind I am trying to keep this as lightweight and functional as possible so some feature requests may be put low on the list. This request is not a major undertaking and may actually get added. All of course "after" I finish up VT.GE B1.

Thanks for this, I really like it. One thing though.. the app drawer is really sluggish on your Vegan gingerbread. Anything you can do to smooth it out?

gojimi, you're a beast...
just cranking out amazing stuff... thanks
i love how i can put the trash can either up or on the bottom since it's just closer to where my hands are. everything is SO customizable... would it be possible for you to add that option to change the placement of the status bar to the bottom as well? i think having the status bar on the bottom would be ideal... again, thanks a lot bro

The KitKat Immersive and Transparent Mode Apps - Let's Build the List!

KitKat brought both Immersive Mode (an option for devs to hide the nav & Android bars in their app for true full screen experience) and what I'd call Transparent Mode (transparent bars with content drawn behind them), and there wasn't a dedicated thread to the supporting apps - until now.
Immersive Mode needs no further explanation and it's cool, but I'd actually rather have Transparent Mode for my apps so content is covering the full screen, yet navbar icons and the Android buttons are visible and usable, see picture 1 (Action Launcher, app menu is drawn over the bars). QuickPic does "Semi-transparent Mode" (picture 2), personally I'd have no background at all behind the bars.
Now what's puzzling is why Google didn't go transparent for their apps, Maps would look great in this mode. Some GApps have Immersive Mode though.

Sounds very promising.
I guess we can add the BS Player to those working in full-screen, others too.
Adobe reader you can add to immersive. Only when viewing pdfs though

At the end of the day it's time to get rid of the Android buttons, officially. For starters they shouldn't appear on the home screen since home and back buttons are useless there, plus with Action Launcher you can now access the apps menu and recent apps from anywhere. So an "Android barless" interface could work as:
Swype right for the app drawer in any app
Swype left for widgets/recents
Swype down for notifications
Swype up to home screen with nice moving the app away animation
Back button could be in-app displayed like menu
Never was a fan of the Android bar anyway.

I posted this in a comment on an Android Police article. The Google Play Games app has shown that Google has a way to differentiate regular apps and games, I wonder why Google doesn't put something in Android so games automatically get immersive mode? Why make devs implement it when Google themselves can put a few lines of code so it toggles for every game ?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Both these modes need to be more common. Now. I have no idea why all of Google's apps don't support one or the other.

Why not just download any of the several nav/hide apps (GMD auto hide, ultimate dynamic navbar etc etc) and enjoy it how you like it with EVERY app??
So how do you go back then if the nav. bar isn't there anymore in some apps?

Cause that's not the purpose of this thread. Apps supporting immersive and transparent mode is.
When I first got the Nexus I made a thread questioning why the nav bar isn't transparent for all apps. After writing that thread, I realized my own stupidity. With the transparent nav bar in place, you are unable to click anything underneath it. Suppose an app had some buttons or links at the very bottom of the screen. You wouldn't be able to click them because the transparent nav bar would be hovering over them.

Hmm that makes sense, I've never actually thought about that.

Right, so basically the app designers need to position their buttons accordingly and extend their backgrounds to fit beneath the nav buttons.
Pretty simple, really.

This is obviously true, you'd have to scroll to tap on that content, but you could still read the content. If you think about it, there is no argument why shouldn't maps cover the full screen, even behind the nav and Android bars, or have immersive mode on, both of which are better than the black bars chopping off 20% of the screen.
QuickPic mixes both: it's (semi)transparent when the bars are active so you can tap on the Android buttons and options, and they can be hidden completely. 100% of the screen is used both ways.

can't wait to see that .. transparent mode is for me the best, for general app (not game) because you don"t have to press a button to make the navbar or the status bar appear again. It's a lost of time (you have to click twice or one time to just check the clock or new notifications) and sometime you can see the latency (with GMD for exemple)..
and beginners on Android don"t have to learn some new gesture because button are always there...Definitely more User Friendly imho

Trying to make Touchwiz look as close as possible to stock android

I really hate touchwiz, samsung made some really welcome changes with the new version of touchwiz found on the s6, they could still tone it down more, but it's an improvement nevertheless, the notification bar still looks awful for example (I can't wait for someone to release a "stock lollipop theme") but I'll take it.
We still have to wait for that new version of touchwiz to arrive to our galaxy notes, but until then (and maybe even after then) I would like to replace as many stock samsung apps as possible with stock android 5.1 apps, apps that look like them or apps that stick closely to the material design guidelines, so far my list looks like this:
Launcher: Material Nova launcher
SMS: (Google ) Messenger
Calendar : Google Calendar
Camera: I stick with samsung's since it offers more options than Google's Camera App
Contacts: I don't know what I should use
Music: Google Music/ Shuttle+
Calculator: I use numix (paid app) but I'm open to other suggestions
Phone: I don't know what I should use
Keyboard: Swiftkey with material design theme
Gallery: Quicpic
Clock: Clock L (paid app)
Which apps would you guys recommend to fill in the voids?
P.S. Before you ask, I already tried a stock android device, I actually returned my Nexus 6, because of the oversaturated look of the display, the slow camera and the just ok battery life
And no I don't want to flash a rom, I like having my warranty and custom roms are full of bugs

Try using Simpler Contacts/Simpler Dialer for the phone. If you're rooted, you can flash the Android Lollipop toggles/status bar theme available in the "themes and apps" section of this forum. You can also get a Lollipop Lockscreen from the Playstore although the lockscreen "ZUI" from the Playstore is great. Finally, try Grammophone music player, it's the nicest most material music player I've seen.

Thank you! Simpler dialer / contacts really looks like the stock lollipop app :highfive: , it's almost identical, which theme do you mean? This one?

I would love to get the rid of the s planner bar and the quick connect bar and to get those lollipop tones but I don't want to lose my warranty by rooting the phone
I'm gonna give zui a try and the other lollipop lockscreen app (there are 2 with that name)
I've tried gramophone and while it does look quite nice, I'm waiting for the developer to implement lastfm scrobbling and then I'll switch.
Thanks again, you've been really helpful

Yes, that's the Lollipop theme. Here's a photo with my phone using it...
You do need to have a custom recovery and root with it.
I flashed the Android 5.1 Cyanogen rom the other day and AOSP looks so nice but reverted back to TW for the functions of has, I wish we had the stock AOSP look with Touchwiz.

I'm gonna inform myself on how to make a touchwiz theme, because I really want to make a theme that looks very similar to stock android.
Samsung needs to slim down even more touchwiz, I find motorola's approach the best, stock look , with added functionality, sony's take on lollipop is also really really nice :good:

I really hate touchwiz, samsung made some really welcome changes with the new version of touchwiz found on the s6, they could still tone it down more, but it's an improvement nevertheless, the notification bar still looks awful for example (I can't for someone to release a "stock lollipop theme") but I'll take it.

My favourite material stock look dialer and contact app is exDialer. It looks very similar to Simpler, but it's functionality suits me better. You can set up tap to call or to open contact, swipe actions and also shows my contact groups. I've also preferred Textra to Messenger as it has the stock look that is customisable, but doesn't change colours for each message, which is something that drives me nuts!!

I use Textra also, after trying a lot of sms apps, it's the best material stock type one I've found.

Ive been using Simpler Contacts and I like it but there's apparently no way to choose the contacts the app should display, so I end up with useless numbers from my provider, is there a way to get the app to display only the contacts on my gmail account?

Because I use 3 languages and with the Google stock keyboard it is a bit annoying having to switch languages, with SwiftKey I have prediction for the 3 languages I use at the same time as simple as that, I would like to use the Google stock keyboard though because I think it is more accurate but the thing I mentioned about lacking prediction for more than one language at the same time is a deal breaker for me
Gesendet von meinem Galaxy Note 4
All I do is use the Google Now Launcher and use as many google apps in place of their Samsung equivalent as possible. That's Google enough for me.

I downloaded the "L lockscreen app" but I'm not able to double tap the notifications to open them neither to control the music player, deal breakers for me
I also installed the lollipop lockscreen and also you're not able to double tap the notifications :crying:
Finally I tried ZUI and while it's kinda nice, it tries too hard to look like IOS going as far as to mimic the IOS multitasking menu, also no album art lockscreen is a bummer.
Guess I'll just wait for the S6 lockscreen :/
I also noticed, that when I make a call using simpler dialer (or ex dialer) it uses the stock samsung dialer, why?
