hi i installed chocobread a day before when i m installing any apps from market its showing insufficient space on device.my device has space of 100 mbs left internal and 200 mb on sd card wats the prob solve it asap plz help. any app of above 3 mb

It really weird it usually happen for app more than 20mb. Ok try tp move download cache to ext using s2e if that not work reflash the rom.

Hey everyone,
After being an idiot for a long time because of staying stock, i finnaly decided to install cm7.
Im very happy with it, only there is one problem: when i try to install a game about 10 / 20 mb market wont let my; not enough memory. But i have 60 mb free memory!
Why cant i install apps? There is enough memory!

Move to SD card
CM7 allows to move several apps to sd card.
1) Go to Manage Apps, and move as many apps to sd card as possible.
2) Using System Tuner Pro, uninstall unnecessary apps.
3) When you update a system app, then original app is not removed, its still there (remember uninstall updates option instead of just uninstall app). They take up space.

It say that for app over 20mb or so coz our download cache is small use s2e and tick the option fowbload cache to ext and u shuld be good to go. So don't worry nothing is wrong

partiotion your sd card, use script like amarullz or if you use cm you can use s2e

or there is no diffirence between stocking apps in internal memory or in sd using s2e

I use it too and I think it makes system faster!
Depends on ur SD cards of which class is it..
If u suffer lags or slow down issue, dont move dalvik-cache to sd-ext..

whether u make 1gb or 512mb partition reduces the life of sd card. I prefer and am using 1gb with 0 swap is enough for use. All the best for partitioning. hit thnx if helpd
Actually 1GB of partition is not at all necessary. It is just a mere waste of space as ace cannot persist so many installed apps. 512MB is more than enough & for me, just 256MB is enough.

As someone said the ext partition if use to only save in apks is totally safe and will not demage your sd card in any way. Apps will run maybe faster than on interal memory. Remeber to keep apps cache clean and to relink apps and cache in order to keep performance as high as possible. That's all I think. Hello guys,i recently tried to flash a new kernel but everything messed up so i flashed back to my older one,my device is running on stock v2.3.6,Xxjw4.
Even after flashing to the older one i still have problem,
I have got 368 mb of ram,but still my phone shows 144 mb used and 30 mb free!and due to low ram my phone works very very slow.
Anybody help me please.

I think it is the prob of our "old" device with only 512MB RAM...
Do you use "heavy" apps like facebook, skype and so on ...more functions need more RAM for the apps ...
I`m using CM 10.2 with Semaphore and BigMEM-Libs so that i have 409MB RAM available ...

No,i dont have any heavy app,yes my device got 512 mb ram from which 366 mb is available.Before i flashed everything was working very fine even the app like facebook worked very smooth but now i can hardly open my device settings also.
But actually my problem is not this my problem is if my phone is using 124 mb ram there should have been 125 mb or more ram free but its showing only 25-30 mb free!!!

I had the same problem with the RAM, lot of apps began to force close and the system was SLOW! really slow! I tried installing Greenify that can hibernate apps to free up more RAM but sometimes it doesn't work so I had to restart my device.
Now I'm very happy because I've found a solution that works excellent! You have to insert an sd card and create a swap partition. I use the Devil Kernel because it supports a swap partition. To activate my partition I used the Devil Kernel Manager and and set a swappiness value of 60.
To verify if your swap memory is working you have to type "free" in a terminal console. In past I've tried to use the app Swapper to create a Swap file but it never worked like the real partition.
I think that a swap partition is a need for our i9000 devices if you plan to use many apps.
