Q and Good Bye :( - LG Optimus Black

Hello,
after my Phone bricked, i flashed it to stock rom and send it to repair, they do not repair the Platine(dont know if its english word also) Now my Phone is bricked totaly and i dont get a new one (
i just wanted to say because i saw this Forum growing and some really nice ROMs and guys.
All devs got my respect. Hope you get your ROMs more awesome soon
Now my Q:
HTC Trophy with 8GB intern Space (with some tricks you can expand)
or another cheap Phone,
i will have 200$ to pay but i want a good Phone and not a **** like the Wildfire S xD
so whats your opinion?
thanks and good bye

The P970, Sony neo V are the choises in the andro-world in this price gab.
You are german, so look at this Motorola Milestone 2 (same chipset of the OB):
http://www.talk-point.de/offer_0_1254_1_Angebot.html
I think a good offer.
Outside of Andro: - Nokia 701 (symbian) a good stable phone with extraordinary radio quality.
- WindowsPhone have now a sell out, you get them very cheap, but this still wouldn´t be my election.
And the custom roms of the OB get even better (Zeus, CM7 temasek, surpressed, Marvel....). Stability isn´t a issue.

yes, HTC Trophy only 145 Euros on Amazon
Motorola Milestone 2 200Euros
Nokia 710 200Euro, dont like it when i compare to the HTC Pro or Trophy :/

Follow the link, milestone 2 for 164€.
I think Windows Mob. 7.5 will be obsolete at final of this year when WinMo 8 will come out. This is the reason for the sell out.

Look out for an old (gebraucht ) nexus s. Awesome roms, really!
Good luck!

First, thanks to everyone whos taking care
im watching for one, but ive wrote an email wo w-support and wanted them to check if theyre right with their "****".
They say it had several water contacts, but i dont live in tropical island neither i dropped it into water or something.

I have seen this by Samsung, they disclaim a phone with the story of water, which wasn´t true.
Tip: Say you want to examinate the phone by an expert (Sachverstänigen) and if the waterstory isn´t true, they have to pay the expert and repair the fone. It seems, that the phones technical service use the water contact story to avoid reparation.

Hey again,
they ignored my email and send it back to me, no problem, dont use their shop again and now:
Nokia Lumia 710 - 8GB - 5MP - best upload/download - Clear Black Technology - 212.- - 1.4 GHz but dont need it because theres no ROMs i think
HTC 7 Mozart - 8GB - 8MP - better light for Photos - sharper display (251ppi) - best design with HTC 7 Trophy - 199.-
HTC 7 Trophy - 8GB - 5MP - good design - sharp display like the Mozart - 212.-
so what do you think

Which shop?

Getting new phone, reccomendations?

Hi.
I need a new phone, as i just lost my motorolla A920, AND permanetely bricked my Universal (very bricked, very dead, no bootloadermode or anything). I was looking for something unlocked, perhaps around the 300-400$ mark.
I want something with an X-scale processor, VGA screen, and perhaps maby a real GPU (useful gpu a.k.a not ATI's imageon(as i have never found one program that actually uses it.)). QWERTY keyboard would be cool, but not vital. Support for SDHC or Compact flash woud be preffered. And windows mobile . And working drivers *Stares at HTC Diamond*. (Isnt it a shame the Axim isnt a phone )
Im in australia, sydney-ish area, incase anyone here wants to sell me one (would only be pickup)
Was looking on eBay, may be possible to pick up a O2 Xda Flame for 400$. Its big but that doesnt bother me (at all), and i could buy a bigger/more batteries, as not hugely concerned about battery life (i can charge it everyday if needed). Must be unlocked, no plan, just buy outright.
Anyone have any suggestions/reccomendations?

Visit the marketplace section, you´ll find a large variety of HTC phones for selling, even some members from Australia
Good luck,
Well I'll have you know my next phone is going to be a nokia n82. The thing is blazing fast, it can play quake 3 at 25fps, every game and emulator you can imagine, the camera is great, extremely fast shutter speed, xenon flash.
it's just a basic candybar phone, packed with lots of features.
But as far as windows mobile, I dont know. I've pretty much given up on windows mobile until there is something fast. WM is kind of behind in speed versus other devices and OS's.
Thanks for the increadibly fast replies.
That nokia looks a little too... 'generic nokia' for my taste. The A920, Universal (and that Flame) look better for design (because they do, thats why). And i would prefer WM, none-the-less. Im not concerned about the camera (forgot this part in the first post). it doesnt even have to have a camera, i never used it on the other phones. the phone is not limited to HTC.

I would rather get it fixed, but i dont think there is any hope in hell of fixing it without some specialised equiptment or something, it does nothing except for the 2 status lights flash. Tried bootloader/hard reset mode, just doesnt do anything. Would appreciate some help to get it back to life though, its just so cool.
If i could trade it in for another phone (or reduced cost for the phone) than maby.
The flame will work in australia right? If so is it a reliable phone. Im aware of its size.
If it does work in australia and can get it at the right price, i will, but in the (very likely) event that i cant, i would want to know what people would reccomend.
As a backup i was also eyeing a HTC TyTN, perhaps not as powerful, but looks decent. Although if i cant get a flame, i would really want a universal (a working one). Its just so cool full stop.
Also, im also known as bobisgod... if that rings any bells...

from IRC?
Tried the universal bootloader again (and again (and again)) and still nothing at all on the screen, only the status lights flash.
Will look at the flame now, or as a backup TyTn. any other ideas on phones / places to buy flame in australia / ideas to get universal back to life?

Ahh, flash back 2009. But really Cubot one!? An HTC One knockoff!?
Sent from my GT-I9505G using Tapatalk

Would you muck about with China HTC knock offs?

I've long laughed at a few friends who messed with cheep iPhone clones ( knock off's), as the screens looked slightly dimmer, and in no way did what the person was trying to show when they would swipe the screen to flip a page.
So I have been looking around now to maybe add 1 or 2 tinker toys to back up a real phone.
I can't imagine my typhoon is going to stand up to the punishment I have been giving it.....flashing and flashing.
So I am thinking of hitting a store and getting an Unlocked referb real phone as my main, but maybe a knock off too to play with.
I have noticed the knock offs seem to be getting way better then the iphone rip offs.
The 2 I am looking at as maybe buys
http://www.m8cool.com/product/detail-111-3362-30283.aspx
and
http://www.m8cool.com/product/detail-111-3325-31501.aspx
They even have an HD2 clone about to hit (no specs that I could find), so maybe that if it's a real improvment over past clone nightmares.
Have you mucked about with any clones? Would you tinker with them or just get a real one as a secondary?

I will have a real as my main phone.....was thinking Unlocked Touch or Touch HD ( depends on availability in store). Once my Typhoon starts to show signs of death.....but it's been taking quite a beating and not dying.
However a cheep toy to mess about with, one that if bricked really would not matter.

If you do not consider 90USD as cheap then...
Have a look on marketplace section and see prices of ORGININAL HTC devices!
They are very cheap and not a copy
HTC have very nice and cheap phones, but here in Brazil, a HTC S711 costs about 500USD
The price depends of the country.

Then buy it online www
I've buy my one on Mercado Livre(eBay of Brazil) for about 200USD
I've had a few phones from china, there are some that work realy well, here's my chart of the best I've tried.
1/ M89+ wm6.1 single sim, (iphone look alike) fantastic battery life, runs spb shell very well, built in gps receiver runs tomtom7, Hisilicon K3 cpu gives great performance.
2/ T5353 (or T8388) touch diamond 2, wm6.1 & 6.5 almost as good as the 1 above with all the functions of M89+ but with dual sim.
3/ HD2 (T5858+) 3.5" screen, wm6.5, built in GPS (locks on to sats better than my tom tom), runs good as long as you don't change the region to UK, if you do problems with camera, wifi & lamp. software on three sets all the same fault.
4/ Smartbook Mypad, wm6.1, Looks great with it's 5" screen but the proccessor isn't up to the job. runs SPB shell but slow transitions, GPS needs external reciever. battery life is poor just over 1 day in normal use.
There are 2 new T5858 Leo with 4.3" screens , be sure to get the QualCommR 8250B version. I can't recommend this yet cos it hasn't arrived but looks great.
well....
yeah, i will never get a copy of this ...
noob hd2 goes for 250-300 usd on ebay

Its good, but had i been in ur place, i wud reconsider X1 for X2..X2 is better actually..but u take the pic..
The X2 does look good...but the X1 is a fantastic machine. Plus the price now is a lot cheaper than when first launched. The only problem I can foresee is trying to find a new one...I could be wrong of course

You can buy one here in Poland.
If I were in your shoes i wouldnt bother. Im on my 4th Xperia in 13 months!
I cannot comment on the X2 but personally would wait for the X10 or choose the new nokia.
My own opinion
To give advice i would suggest to stay away from SE until they get their act together.
If i'd buy a phone today, it'd be the HD2... sure no hardware QWERTY, but with that 4.3" screen you get one hell of a on screen keyboard.. =)
Other than that it's so much more powerful and has more features..
I've had my Xperia X1 since February, and the only problem I've had with it was the slight wearing out of most-used keys on the keyboard. And even that was replaced when I sent it in to SE Repair.
If you want an Xperia, and you'd rather go with a device that has a lot of support and is much, much cheaper, I'd say the X1 is a good idea for you. I plan on selling my black X1i (lightly used, I figure 300ish isn't bad) and getting the X2a when it comes out, for US 3G support, because I absolutely love the new keyboard and design. Plus I just like keeping up on mobile phones
well, since you've asked about build quality and durability - stay away! i own this phone 11 months and it's been in repair for 2 months and 1 week...
you can read in this forum about it:
- hw-keyb deteriorates over time (buttons either don't work or act like pressed 3 times)
- cracks in case
- battery cover (black) scratches very easy
- buttons under the screen lose their shiny finish through usage
- in my case a part of the touch-monitors most upper layer faded (no scratch!)
- monitor cable inside also seems prown to be faulty
also it doesn't get any software-updates anymore. "final" firmware dates from march 2009. and there are still bugs left, especially in performance (lag when playing it's own videos...) i've read somewhere that the new x2-panels don't work on x1 officially. x1-panels are too few to make good use of them.
and if you want to use custom roms (with manila) or the goodies from x2 be prepared for a neverending story of flashing, bug-fixing and waiting for new releases by the cooks. cooking yourself is even more time-consuming.
at the moment stay away from SE. and if you don't want to spend the money for something like a hd2, i'd recommend an htc touch pro 2. same hardware as x1, but a better software-foundation than the x1. plus manila and official update to winmo 6.5.
Well, buy it if you like it.
My Xperia works since Dec 2008 and it's the best SE phone I ever had.
The crack appeared when device hit the floor hard.
So for me build quality is good.
As for HTC TPro 2 - well, as for "software foundation" there's no difference between this and X1.
Some people love TF3D, some - like me - don't and I just love panels.
In reverse HTC has ****ty hardware buttons while SE gives you all the options.
So in the end it's all about subtle differences.
For me the whole X1 concept works.
caliban is saying everything you´ll need to know..
nice phone,crappy quality
some Plastic will kill your Fun ,believe me
-a lot of problems....
save a little bit more of money and buy a touch pro 2....
oh...and forget to buy some other SE Devices...big company, big quality problems at the moment, dood !
If I were in your shoes I'd get the LG Expo or HD2. Caliban is accurate above but I actually think the X1 is a very good device - after tweaking my only big complaint is the sluggishness - it just can't be fixed. Pretty soon all software will be designed for Snapdragon or faster processors, so I would jump on that bandwagon.

Do not get it. Just don't. It's a phone that comes to be luxurious and high-end. But it ages it quickly.

How would you rate Liquid?

I'm thinking of getting an Acer A1. I live in Canada and have used a G1 before it arrived here, so i think it's time to upgrade. However Canada is lacking in the android department and if i get a phone like the Nexus One...although i can use it on my network, i will only get 2g speeds (which suck). So I was wondering for those of you out there who may have used a few android phones if you can answer a few questions for me to help me decide!
1) How does the hardware/feel of the phone feel compared to others? (acer tends to be lower build quality)
2) What is the highest android firmware version we have ported, I've read around that 2.1 is on it...but can someone confirm this?
3) Does anyone know if the nexus one is coming to canada anytime soon? Or the release date of the Sony x10? (this way i can wait for a more preferred phone)
Thanks in advance!

I have used these Android-phones: HTC G1, HTC Hero, Sony Ericsson X10 (@work) and I have a Acer Liquid myself.
1/ The Liquid device feels a little more "plastic" then other current phones. Also read from alot of people that have dropped their phones in the floor and got problems with "leaking" displays. Dont have any problems with mine Liquid however...
2/ 2.1 is working on Liquid. Using 2.1 on my liquid without any big problems. Still a leaked dev-release that is modified, but it works well with the modifications Angio&Co have made to it.
3/ Dont know anything about release-dates, but I have to say: Dont expect Sony Ericsson X10 to be alot better then the other devices out there. To start with it is "already old" running Android 1.6. It also has the same amount of ram as Acer Liquid. The CPU runs on 1ghz and the Liquid runs on 768mhz, but the Liquid is still faster on starting apps and in respons (this may change to release of X10... but dont expect it...). The "only" things that makes X10 good is the bigger screen and the camera. But I would go for a N1 instead if I was going to buy a phone today...
hi, i'm from Italy and i get my Liquid only 2 month ago, but i can tell you that i'm very happy about my choice.
Before that phone, i had on Iphone 3GS but someone stoled it
Anyway... Hardware 8,5:
Good processor, IMPRESSIVE Touch screen, too plastic cover (not very impression of resistance)
Design 8: very beautiful black screen but the button of camera, volume and pause are placed not in correct mode because they are "descent" and when you are making a pic, often the finger slips to bottom.
Battery 4: only a day of autonomy
My opinion....is a great phone
i got it because is the only android i can get in 1900 3g band... (rogers dream and magic were more expensive to me, go figure, i live in colombia)
its really nice, very fast and i like the looks, its way better than 1st gen android phones, up there with the nexus and the milestone
Thanks for the feedback guys! Looks like I'm going to be going with the Liquid...at least until the N1 makes it's way to Canada! Thanks again!
bgmrk , be prepared for bad customer service. I really mean that, take a look at http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liquid-liquid-modaco-com/302053/scary-liquidscary-screenhorrible-pictures/
Most of the people in that thread dropped their phones but some did not. Anyway, look and read some of the replies they got from Acer.
As long as I keep my phone alive and well and I don't have to deal with Acer then I say this: I love my Liquid.
MMMM i'm aware of the poor customer service from Acer, having my last laptop be from them. Thats one of the deciders in my choice. Acer products tend to have a low build quality, but thats what makes them cheaper. I'm willing to give it a shot though. Thanks for that link! it was a good read
it's a great device and the price tag is great for what you get, the price performance tag is the best of the whole market for now
I'm pretty happy with my Liquid right now. I initially wanted the black version, but I was sent the wrong one. I was going to send it back, but after a few days with it, I decided that I really wanted to keep it. Now, Acer isn't exactly known for phones, let alone smartphones, so I was a bit hesitant. I can tell you, the phone is much better in person than in screenshots. The build quality is pretty good, it does creak a little bit if twisted a little. The battery cover will NOT come off unless pried, a good thing. Currently, the N1 is the only device with better specs on the market. At a little less than $400, it's a great buy for an unlocked smartphone. The only complaints I might have are the external speaker, which really is bad, and the screen, although very good in clarity and quality, sometimes doesn't register. But, it could be the OS too. Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the device.
Overall I would give it an 8.5 out of 10.

not sure if you read the blogs but the n1 is available to canadians. but afte a full 24hrs of research, i'm still highly interested in liquid. thanks for starting this thread. it has also helped me to decide.
ive had my Liquid since christmas. previously i was a winmo HTC user. ive got about 10 HTC devices at home.
i have to say im more than happy with the quality of the Liquid. i wasnt aware of any problems with the screen but after reading that link posted above i find it hard to believe that anyone would expect Acer to repair/replace a device under warranty that had clearly been dropped in such a way that the screen broke. idots in my opinion.
ive had experience of most of Acers smartphone/PDA devices in the past and was always of the opinion that they were pretty rubbish when compared to other manufacturers. the Liquid has changed my opinion of them though.
i love it!
The acer is the best phone with this price: very fast and nice system
I love my Liquid. I got it since January, and it's been great. I think it is the best looking Android phone out there.
I have a HTC Kaiser (aka Tytn II). It wasn't as great as most websites claim it is. You could say it was over-rated. But with Acer Liquid, it was the opposite. The reviews on the Liquid were mostly mixed but when you actually use it, it is quite good.
Now, i am hesitant to get phones of HTC. Two reasons. One is that HTC is slow to fix/update ROM's. The other one is UI customizations (Sense UI in HTC's case and Motoblur in Motorola's case). I think these customizations cause problems with apps. I download a lot of apps from the Market and see a lot of comments about the apps not working on HTC xxx or Motorola xxx. But they all worked fine on my Liquid. So, i prefer "vanilla" Android because i think most developers write for "vanilla" Android.
I see a lot of comments about apps not working on Nexus One, too, but it is different. Nexus One uses Eclair and it is newer than most Android phones out there so there are bound to be problems with apps written for pre-Eclair Android.
All in all, Liquid is a great phone!
Just got my Liquid a few days ago too. I use it with no data plan (wi-fi only) on T-Mobile in the U.S. I owned a myTouch 3G when it first came out, it feels snappier and has better specs than that device. The hardware buttons are a bit hard to fumble with, but no device is perfect. I'm impressed with the camera, 5MP, even has ISO 100-800 manual settings. If Acer follows through and gives us an updated 2.1 ROM for the A1, then they are well on their way to carving a slice of the Android pie.

x1 to which phone?please advise:)

HD2 is very expensive though...
And after what i've seen from Sony with the X1 - X2 is out of the question
I am thinking about buying X10 mini pro... Cheap enough and nice qwerty keyboard. and ANDROID!!!
get an lg expo 1ghz cpu nice screen and sliding keyboard.
I would also go for a LG Expo if I had to choose a phone now.
Overclocked milestone/droid
thx for all your comments and advice guys.you are very help full.lg expo looks very good.i review omniaII as well.looks not bad...is there any 1ghz one hand device guys?like htc snap?!htc snap screen looks small and cpu is same as x1...i must read and investigate more
I've made my decision....
X1 isnt that bad of a phone so i'm gonna stick with it until it breaks, for 18 a month i can get unlimited texts, unlimited data and 300 minutes for a sim only deal.
HD2 and Lg expo and that are just soo expensive! even with contract!
Its the same for me. I dont see a reason to replace my Xperia X1. It does everything I need just perfectly.
Samsung GT-B7610 OmniaPRO looks ok. But no D-pad

I'm also staying with the X1 until it breaks. After that I'll probably get the Nexus 2, since WP7 is turning me off.

I'm with you on this one. Too bad it won't have Sense UI, though. I can hope they do something better than default Android OS.
Since I am in U.S. I feel deprived of options since HD2, Omnia series phones, and even the Nexus One are not usable on AT&T 3G.
I had Xperia X1 - it was a great device. The only problem I had was the poor reception.
If I was you, I'd buy one of the following:
- HTC HD2
- Sony Ericsson X10 (Nexus One is to ugly for my taste, sorry)
... or hold your breath for a while... Windows Phone 7 will arrive soon
Good luck!
I'm using my x1 from 3 month...i have 2 reasons to change it: the slide is going damnly ko (i will go soon to service center...), and is missing video acceleration for divx....!!
I think the better wm phone now is lg gw820 expo....but i live in Italy and it is not available in europe....!
Another nice one can be samsung b7610!
If you like android try to consider the cheap lg gw620.
I think i will repair my x1 slide and may be i will wait Christmas to upgrade it, because when will be availabe wm7 phones, wm6.5 phone will be cheaper!
Sorry for my bugged english...!!
