[Q] PDroid Assistance on CheckROMv6 - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been trying this to get PDroid to work for almost 24 hours now and I am running out of time. I'm...tired. -_-. I have searched and searched ans searched and searched and ... I'm just at a loss.
Here is my post on PDroids Thread quoted here.
CrazyOGuy said:
You know... I read that in the instructions but I didn't connect 2 & 2.
Anywho, can I patch the ROM before I Flash it or do I need to Flash it first - Get it running - than flash that same ROM again patched?
Edit: Ok... I took a leap of "Nothing Ventured...Nothing Gained". I have successfully Flashed my first ROM by my self (OMG O_O). As such I was able to patch the Zip of Version 23 (which I already have on my Note). Unfortunately I don't know where to go from here. I did try to update through ClockWorkMod...just like I did with the ROM Originally - but it seems that this doesn't work since I'm still getting the "You need a Patch" Display. I did reboot.
Edit 2: Found the problem. I missed the "output" portion of the program. Just patched it in did what is necessary. Don't think this ROM is going to work though... Ive been staring at the the title screen for a few minutes now. Might be a boot loop. I think I can fix it.
Edit 3:Fixed. Ok...The entire reason I even bothered to flash said ROM was so I could do this. Pitty. :/
Edit 4: Just tried it with CheckROMv6 Wipe. Nope. Same thing Happens. I boot it and I stare at the Boot Screen. :/

Based on what I have seen of CheckROMv6 ... I like it and would like to use it.
I have since then been trying to get the Android SDK to work so that I can post what is seen in the system log for errors (as mentioned in the instructions.) But to be blunt this is out of my league. I only just recently -today- have been competent enough to flash my own ROMs.
I don't even know what to ask right now (possibly due to what seems like waited effort). I need help...Can any one please take it upon themselves and please help me get through this?
If I had to guess my problem isn't in the creation of the .zip patch, but the way I'm putting it on (though both things are in the instructions and I have followed it to the letter...hence my frustration on this matter.
Edit: Oh...and before anyone mentions it (presuming any one replys >_>) I know about this thread. The DLs are no longer active.

I think I found the problem but I don't know how to solve it if what I have found is the problem. Hence Why I have bumped this.
I have something a-bit more concrete and less abstract.
I went into Clock Work Recovery...and I loaded the patched ROM. I went into Advanced and then Log where it says and I quote:
Install from sdcard complete.
Installing update...
>>>Mounting partitionsmount: failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p9 at /system: Device or resource busy

....
(Everything else looks normal).
What does this mean? & How do I fix it?

I started reading through that, downloading the files that it said to download but I'm stuck at the "1.6 Recovery Image" file. The link goes to a page that offers files for the Android DevPhone, but I just have a normal TMobile G1. What file am I supposed to use?

You're kidding, right? When I tried that upgrade tutorial (the one at myhangoutonline.com) *none* of the files were available for download. Every single one I clicked on went to a "404" page.

Ok, thanks, but... I'm still a bit confused: all the instructions I've seen for upgrading to Android 2.1 say to use cyanogenmod, but the cyanogenmod site says that it is based on Android 1.6 (according to cyanogenmod.com/about), so is that really what I'm supposed to use?

I apologize, stupid SEO plugin was rewriting the url and messing up a seperate plugin. Links are now working if you still need to upgrade.
My tutorial shows you how to root and upgrade everything and install cyanogenmod 4.2.15.1 if you want to try the 2.1 version which is in testing, go to the cyanogenmod repository on my site, go into the testing folder for the G1 and download that rom instead. Use that rom instead of 4.2.15.1 as the final step.

Just put the 1.6 on then you can flash 2.1 found HERE
Follow the directions on the main post.
If you have gtalk pm me your gtalk email and I'll try and step you through it if you absolutely can't figure it out.
Thanks for all the answers! I think I have a good understanding of what I need to do now, so here goes...
*crosses fingers*
I'm following the instructions on myhangoutonline.com.
Well, so far so good, with some minor hiccups:
During the downgrade your phone step, when the phone says "Press the action key" after step 6, it's talking about the trackball button. Took me a little while to figure that out.
However, after I pressed it, it just went back to the initial multicolor gradient screen, with the addition of a line in the middle that said "Serial0". (maybe it was there before, but I missed it?) I ended up having to pull the battery because I could figure out how to make it reboot.
After reboot I had to go through the Google sign in process. Not a big deal, but it'd be nice to mention that this is necessary.
Upgrading recovery seemed to go pretty much as described. On to the apparent dangerous step of upgrading the radio & spl!
Uh oh! It looks like something didn't work. I started up in recovery mode, but there's no option in the menu for "Mount SD card".
I tried going to console, then "ls /sdcard", but no files show up, and /sdcard doesn't show up as a mounted filesystem when I run "mount".
I couldn't figure out how to get out of the console ("exit" just took me back to a "press enter" prompt, and then back into the console), so I ended up pulling the battery again.
Now what? Should I try upgrading recovery again?

Reset to new

So i rooted my phone using the universal root in this forum, the day after i accidentally updated android and it broke the root, also i have noticed some bugs. I am trying to put the phone back to how it was when i got it in the post. i tried a "factory data reset" but it didnt do what i am trying to do, just deleted all the apps etc. Any ideas how i can do this? I dont mind if i have root access still.
Cheers!
Read my signature, the bigger link. I'm sure you'll find the info on rooting FRG83 there (because I've put it there).
Okay i think i need some help, i have downloaded the official rom an put it on the sd card but cant work out how to flash it, im holding down the track ball and resetting but cant see the option to flash anything, is this because it wasnt rooted properly where android updated?
this sux on an epic scale. when my phone was ****ed.. no one posted with a signature that had information about how to install stuff to phone without unlocking bootloader .

I supposed my post would say it clearly enough that your idea of restoring the ROM to the older version won't work.
Just managed to root it, then got totally lost, might have to leave it like this..
Yes, that was the idea. Root it, and stay with it. If you post the bugs, they might have solutions / workarounds.
Plus, it might be a good time to try custom ROM Or even customized plain FRF91 you were looking for.

[q] help needed

so heres the story... this is my first post on the site. although i have been using the site for awhile. i guess i just never had any info to offer, but now i ask for some help from you guys. i have a captivate (hence me posting here) and have put in a couple of new roms before (some being harder than others to do) and luckily from other posts i have been able to do it by myself. wow getting long. but anyways i was redoing my phone the other day and it just went downhill fast. but now im in froyo 2.2 and cannot root or anything. im getting "signature verification failed" or something along those lines and cant seem to do anything. i have flashed using every flash kit available and nothing seems to work. im not sure if im missing something or not. So i guess my question here is for a link or some step by step directions. i dont have tons of time to work on it because im in the military and work like 12 - 14 hour days.... now that thats over. sorry for the long post. oh and the 3 button trick doesnt work for me so i bought a jig for download mode. but no worries there. anywho. thanks in advance.
It sounds like you're running into the 3e recovery fix bug. There's a sticky in the Development section that mentions a fix for that.
The other option is to flash to Gingerbread via Heimdall/Odin, which would take care of that problem.
Those would be my first two suggestions for your situation.

So like the guy said above there is a fix for the error it sounds like you are having. But it is terribly annoying to see this thread pop up what seems like every day. There is a thread at the top of this forum. It is called The Captivate Directory |Guides|ROMs|Themes|Etc.| READ BEFORE POSTING(Updated 9/7/11)

C'mon.........go easy. Dont bold at people who admit they are clueless. Sometimes searching to find the exact answer, when your dear little phone is not working right can be a real stressful thing. Especially, if he does not even understand the problem.
As stated above, this seems to be the 3e recovery bug. As for a solution, if your trying to root and flash things, instead of using the fix, I would just flash a GB rom. The only risk with this option is flashing GB boot loaders, but it's hard to make a mistake if you've done a little research

SGT Hard Resets on every bootup on any ROM.

It's been quite a learning curve getting my Sprint CDMA Galaxy Tab and attempting to load every Miui, CM7/CM9 I could find on XDA and Rootzwiki. I never fully tested my tablet before beginning the delve into the flashing world so I don't know if this is an issue with the tablet itself or caused by my endless flashing trials.
I simply am unable to save any settings or data. Everytime I boot up, no matter which ROM (Miui CM7/9), it is always factory reset. This is quite frustrating.
I'm back on stock from odining Sprint EF17 GB w/ original PIT file and this is still happening. Does anyone have any idea if this was self-incurred or if there is a partitioning bug of some sort that I have missed.
Much Thanks in advance!
So every time you turn on your Tab it loads and then reboots in a continuous loop? Do you see the Android OS unlock screen or the load process does not gets so far? Because if it does not then in my opinion the boot loader is incorrect for some reason. That is my opinion.
What you can do if you suspect that the PIT is incorrect, you read your PIT and save via Heimdall and compare it with somebody else who has the same Tab as you have.
Unable to personalize "issue"

Negative. This is not a continuous loop bug. It is a "unable to personalize" bug. I can install market/apps/data/contacts etc etc, but every single time I boot up. it's a Fresh Copy with no personalized settings.

Yes I booted into CWM,fixed permissions, rebooted, put 2-3 icons on desktop, rebooted.
Nothing, it was back to factory default settings.
A permissions issue does make sense, but it didn't work and this is just mind boggling to me.

I'm sorry you have the same problem.
However I'm glad to have someone to share it with. Misery loves company. I've scoured the web for 3 days and have nothing.
Please if anybody knows what's going on. From my non-developer logic I need to find a way to get the changes I make to my phone to write permanently (so to speak), everything I do is temporary until I reboot.
Hmmmm... I suppose you guy's already tried to wipe all caches and reflash the kernel (= not the ROM, just the kernel) ?
Where do I find the Kernal?
It's the zImage file right?
The ROM I'm on right now is JT's CM7 here:
I wanted to try just flashing the kernal but I am unable to locate the zImage file. What directory is it in?
Edit: I found the Kernal, it's actually in the CWM 5.0.2.7 package. I'm gonna try flashing the kernal over to see if it fixes the issue.
Edit2: No cigar, reflashing kernal does not fix this issue. On a side note, I tried to upgrade to CM9 and got "Encryption Unsuccessful". Not that I am knowledgable in this, but it seems the issue may share some commonality with that.

Hi,
Yah, zImage should be the kernel.
In this thread, I found something about the issue you have. It might have something to do with NoFrillsCPU... Hope this helps

Anyway, my bad, it's not NoFrillsCPU but it's SetCPU ... It's in the OP : "Please DO NOT check the "Set on Boot" button in SetCPU untill you have tested it, or you may not be able to get control back without a reflash."
EDIT : Looks like there's a misunderstanding in me confused about the CDMA versions. Sounds like this thread has all the solutions you need. I may be wrong , of course...

I think you have my issue confused with another . My issue is that everytime I boot it's a clean boot with google account reset/desktop reset. I can't save any settings or download any apps without it getting wiped by a boot. I don't even think my ROM is currently overclocked but I'll look to see if indeed it's hiding in here somewhere.
Let me know if you see anything else that I can try :-(
Thanks though
Edit: Just checked, my system was not overcloccked and set on boot was not checked so this is definetely not the same issue.

[Q] HELP! Stuck in boot loop after accidentally installing OTA

I have a Moto X, and used one of the first root methods that came out with the phone (I don't remember what it's called, but it didn't require any fancy cmd window to type commands in or many different executables... I think I just loaded an apk onto the phone and ran it). Unfortunately, today, I accidentally installed an OTA. Now, my phone is stuck in a boot loop and re-boots every 30 seconds or so. How can I get out of this??
I've (sadly) done this once before and recovered from it by quickly hopping to some directory using Root Explorer and deleting the OTA update file. I've spent a couple hours trying to find this thread or information, but with no luck. It's very similar to this post: http://forums.androidcentral.com/thunderbolt-rooting-roms-hacks/174996-19-ota-push-bootloop-fix.html
I've also tried booting into recovery, but I've learned this morning that I don't have a recovery program on my phone. When I try to launch recovery, it just boots the phone and the bootloop starts all over again.
Thank you for help any of you can offer!!
Can you get into the stock recovery? You know the dead Andy on his back. If so go in to stock recovery and try a wipe. Then if it boots up look and see if your android version changed or not to see if the phone updated.
Solved!

I was able to solve it! Here is what I did:
Install the app, "Root Explorer", if you don't have it already. You may have to try many, many times to get this to install.
Go to the directory, "/cache". This folder is at the very top of the phone's file structure, along with "sdcard", "system", "firmware", and others.
In this "cache" folder is a zip file called, "Blur_Version.##.##.##.ghost_att.ATT.en.US.zip". There are also two other folders, "lost+found" and "recovery".
Delete or rename the file. At around the time the phone wants to reboot, it will be looking for this file and find that it no longer exists because you have deleted or renamed it, and it will give you an error message. Acknowledge the error message, and the phone should be back to normal.
The original information comes from XDA user "motomesh", and the thread I found this information is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...te-problem-t2467614/post46179190#post46179190
Phone: Moto X
Android: 4.2.2
Carrier: AT&T
System Version: 139.9.51
You should spend $25 for the Sunshine bootloader unlock since you're still on 4.2.2.
Also, good job searching. It's rare to see someone find an answer to their question which has been asked many many many many times.

Thanks! I'll check out Sunshine bootloader and see what that's about.
I appreciate your comment on finding my own solution. I do always try to put in the research before even thinking about posting my question. The XDA-Developers community has been a great wealth of information, and I'm quite thankful to everyone involved. It's just that on that particular day, I wasn't planning on tinkering with my phone, and I had such a schedule packed day with so many things to get done, so I was freaking out a little, because I needed a phone and had no backup. I had already spend an hour searching without luck, so I was hoping someone would take pity and not mind answering this popular question. I recognize my ask is a pretty big pet peeve; hopefully the community will forgive me on this one.

I did the same thing that you commented here. Thanks for the solution!
