Huge mess up, please help! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I have a very biug problem now.
I was with TeamICSSGS and I decided to move from it to Slim ICS.
But because I wanted to be fast I didin't read correctly and I didin't flashed the correct thing.
I flashed the I9000 Essentials and not the base which made the phone bootloop with the touch recovery.
Then I did a factory/data wipe and after the reboot there was no recovery and only bootloop.
Then I decided to flash a gingebread bootloader in the panic, don't know why I falshed it and it bringed me CWM Recovery of which I installed several ROM's with fail because they just stop installing when reac the kernel installation.
Then I downloaded http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1685040 and flashed it, but with some recovery errors and bootloop again.
Can someone help me, please.
EDIT: I did that http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=657 and it worked.

[Q] Constant reboot/bootloop with CM7/9

Hi !
I have a GT i9000 almost new and everytime I try to run a custom Rom (CM7 or CM9) the phone randomly restarts and bootloops. I've tried to wipe it (full wipe, specific partition wipe, etc.), to clean it with a full 2.3 Samsung rom through Odin, and it still reboots into bootloop after a couple minutes running CM. I thought of a material problem but with a stock system it runs flawlessly... Hence my posting here.
I'll appreciate any help,
Thanks in advance.
Sid
Have you installed them twice? Install CM once then when it goes into a bootloop go back into recovery and flash it again.

Galaxy S bootloop

I wanted to flash custom rom on my galaxy S. I flashed clean rom, then kernel with CWM, but there is a problem. Everytime I try to flash rom it ends with bootloop. I tried cm7, cm10, rootbox, miui 2.4. Every time is the same. It starts installing (only few secodns), then screen becames brighter, then restart and bootloop. I tried different kernels, roms but still same result.
ps. sorry for my english
Hi, here is a great guide to fix bootloops:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660596
Usually, doing factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache before and after intalling the ROM should fix the issue though.
I'm doing all necessary wipes, I can recover from bootloop easly but I want flash custom rom and I can't. Istalling zip lasts few second, not few minutes, there is a problem.
Sorry if this is too basic, but are you using the right ROM for your phone?
of course...
I don't know if I'll be able to help you, but can you please list the exact model of your phone just in case? You can see the different variants here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S#Variants
It is just GT-I9000. Now I managed to flash CM7.2 but if I want install CM9 or CM10 im getting bootloop and can't enter recovery mode ;o
Sorry, I can't really give you an answer with that information. If you are following the steps in each ROMs thread, you should have no problems patching as far as I know (someone more knowledgeable than me may say otherwise).
Maybe posting the exact steps you are following would help me or others to find out what the issue is.
I'm following right steps. It's not my first phone. I know how it should be but it isn't. Here are my steps:
Flash stock ROM w/ODIN v1.85 - OK
Flash CF-Root w/ODIN v1.85
Wipe Data/Wipe Cache
Phone now rooted OK
Boot to CWM Recovery
Install zip from sdcard
Select update on SDCard (cm-7.1.0 from CM site)
Flash completes in just a few seconds
Phone reboots automatically
Now stuck in boot loop
Remove battery
Go to CWM again and reflash CM7.1 zip
Now i have CM7
Reboot to recovery, facotry reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik
Flash CM9/CM10, finishes in few sec, reboots, then black screen, can't go to recovery mode ;(((
Flashing stock with odin again...and every time is the same, sometimes when I choose CM10 i see info: "Incompatible Partition Layout" so it may be the reason (something with partition, idk)
My phone has never rebooted like that, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I do know I use ODIN v3.07. I also have CWM 6.0.2.7
Best of luck finding a solution, sorry I could no be of more help.
I think CWM6 would help but I can't find this version for cm7
IGNORE ALL LINKS BELOW, they are for the wrong phone
I don't think it matters what CM you have on your phone, you should be able to upgrade CWM from recovery: Maybe not in i9000...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843825
Doesn't work in i9000 as far as I can tell: You can also try installing TWRP, which I like better than CWM and have in a different device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694617
Finally, and don't take me on this because is just a guess, maybe your bootloader is not working properly? I don't really remember how to do this myself:
You are showing me links to CMW and TWRP for i9001, I have i9000...
You are right, please ignore those links... I do know I patched CWM 6.0.2.7 through ODIN on my phone, so maybe that's the only way. In any case, I'll let you look for the actual links.

Loop Boot i9001, tried many things. No success.

Boot loop on i9001, I tried everything but I guess not the right thing yet. I had CM11 installed but wanted to downgrade to Stock Rom gingerbread 2.3.6. I couldn't find any guides in that regard so I went on and with ODIN I flashed the phone to the stock rom, now it boots up forever, then I tried a boot loader fix, flashed that too, nothing. Re-flashed other stock roms, nothing.
It's stuck on a loop boot.
Can you please let me know what I could try? :crying:
Ok, try to re flash cm11 by following the same steps you did the first time you flashed it. Then find a guide to downgrade it to gingercake. Let me know.
Loop boot solved i9001
thanks you just gave me the idea of going to recovery mode and wipe all data and partition. After rebooting, 2.3.6 was there waiting for me.
Thanks me

[q] help please

So i resently just install cm 12.1 on my s3 mini. this was running fine until the play store dissapeared, (i think a deleted it somehow) so then i went and did a factory reset from the phone. It booted down and started trwp recovery. But the recovery didn't boot, if i tryed booting it normally it went back into the trwp screen flashing. So i went onto odin and flashed the recovery again. IT DIDNT WORK. I tryed flashing the rom again. STILL DIDNT WORK. PLEASE HELP
So to sum it up:
Phone won boot into recovery or main rom
HAVE already flashed the recovery and rom again

Did you try to flash only the rom or flash the stock rom?

Q&A Cyanogenmod 12.1 (unofficial) gone wrong

Hey guys,
need a little help on this one.
I' ve downloaded the cyanogenmod from winx and I was trying to do a clean ROM-install on my phone (gt-i9305)
I've allready tried to install it with TWRP, Phillz and Clockworkmod. The recoveryinstall of these mods worked fine using odin but after that i wiped all data and dalviks, etc and installed the rom along with the gapps.
The problem I'm having is that it seems to install fine (even factory resetted it after installation) but i can't get past the boot animation screen.
Is there any fix on this or is the phone dead from now on.
Grtz,
C
update on topic.
tried to flash the stockrom again and it didn't complete so now i have the message:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies | try again.
next update:
installed stockrom using odin and it worked, reinstalled twrp and installed cyanogenmod again.
This time with success. Expected a little help from you guys but eventually reading through forum and watching hours of youtube managed the problem just fine.
