So, I don't know if everyone feels the same way I do, but on a 7" tablet I don't see myself using the "Mini Apps" that often so I went through and found a way to remove the Mini Apps application and the Mini Apps themselves.
Basically it just involves deleting these:
Any apps in System/app that has "Mini" in its name (Including minimode-res.apk).
Next remove System/framework/minimode.jar
Now the miniapps should be completely removed from your system after a reboot including the program that opens them and the arrow on the system bar. If you would like them back just reflash your current ROM or restore the backup THAT YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE!
Obviously if anything goes wrong it's not my fault including:
Thermonuclear War
Attack of the Unicorns
You'r tablet melting
Any divorces in your life
Etc.
Here is what it looks like afterwards.

Excellent. This will be very helpful for the devs creating ROMs as well.
Indeed. It's already included in Fry ROM v4. I'm still testing it out and will commit more changes before release, but it's working. Great find.
Thanks,

works great
Our you could just rename them to be safe... Not have to make a backup.

Thanks man for the help. Need to remove some of those annoying ones on the bottom now that I've upgraded to JB. Hopefully this comes out looking smooth.

Just tried this method on a stock (but freshly rooted) GTab2 7.0 P3113. All is well on the mini-apps window not launching part. The arrow is still there. This doesnt bother me as long as nothing happens when I hit the arrow (usually by mistake). Thanks for the tutorial. I rooted to specifically resolve this issue. Thanks again!
Agreed on adding things. Doesn't even have to mulit-window for me. Just use as a dock would be nice.
i did this on my Sungsonic HD. looking good now. i didn't need those mini apps. always showed up when I typing, my finger did that but i wasnt delete those. just moved them. thx. :thumbup:

Why would there be movies? That is only for HC, right now. Seems better in landscape for me, then portrait tbh.
Also, install instructions like that are unneeded. Just move the vending.apk to your sdcard and install with a file manager. It will just update like normal.

Yeah, I wasn't sure, I manually moved the apk myself, thanks.

How are they preventing Playback on Rooted devices? Is there some way it detects that we're rooted or something? If it simply tries running a Command via SU, couldn't we block that? I'm trying to think of otherways that it could detect Root but all the ones I can think of I think we could workaround. What are they doing to accomplish this?

Hello all,
I just started to play around with my Galaxy Note. I rooted it, flashed the speedmob kernel and then the ParanoidAndroid V2.22 Custom Rom based on CM10.
Everything runs fine so fast, better than the stock-rom. I especially like the tablet mode.
I read about many build-prop tweaks to install incompatible market apps, but found nothing on my problem.
I want to install tablet-optimized apps, in this case the chameleon launcher, but the market won't let me do this.
Is there any possibility to tweak something, to make the market (and also the running apps) think that this is an 10 inch tablet (for example the Galaxy Tab 10.1)??
It should be an 10inch tablet to have the bigger grid size of the launcher (6x4 for 10" and 4x2 for 7")
I think the screen resolution is the same (1280x800), also the Ram and CPU should have enough performance. And I know the launcher is running on the note very well (but not installable via market and only with a grid of 4x2)
Is this possible and what do I have to change?
Thanks a lot for every hint!
may be possible by dpi setting in the build.prop file

But if I only change the dpi setting, I think, it will still be recognized as the GT-N7000.
Has anyone the content of the build.prop of an galaxy tab 10.1?
Then I can just try to copy this, right?
Which amount is the minimum dpi possible?
i guess u should go an check in that forum.. by the way... its just like Svoice.. to make it work u need to change the model name in build.prop to s3..
this mite not be the coreect method..do a lot of reading b4
There is a guide for making note like galaxy nexus but i hvnt tried it.
I have tried 213 dpi setting on stock tw and used chameleon launcher.it was awesome but as it was tablet mode,battery drainage was fast.

Can anyone post the content of a Galaxy Tab 10.1 or the Note 10.1?

What is the worst thing that can happen, if I change anything wrong?
the phone wont boot.. so make a nandroid backup b4
I think first of all you need buil.prop of note 10.1 then you can do something.
Why you want to do that???there is already tablet modes available man.

Sure, I am already using ParanoidAndroid in Tablet Mode... But in this Mode i still cannot purchase the Cameleon Launcher from market and also this launcher only runs with a small Grid Size of 4x2 which gives very little space for the widgets... I prefer them with smaller fonts but more space to move.
On 10inch tablets (also with 1280x800 resolution) there is a grid size of 6x4.
And I want to purchase the launcher with the bigger grid size...
Don't Care, I have good eyes

The purpose of my thread is to tweak my note to get access to this "incompatible" app.

By changing the Screen Density in the build prop, I just got a plain Tablet view (Although there are very big unused borders at the top and bottom in potrait mode and leeft/right in landscape) and was also able to install the launcher regularly via the play store.
Everything fine so far.
But I just got the small grid (indeed this is just 3x2 not 4x2) and think there might be a way to change this.
On the developer Site
http://chameleonlauncher.com/widgets/makeawidget/design/
there are mentioned different layouts for 10" and 7"
Any ideas how to get the bigger grid?
And also how to remove the ugly borders with unused space?
I treid different DPI in the buil.prop, but only the basic 320 and the applied 160 had good results. Everything else messed up the entire screen and forceclosed the systemUI (tried 180, 190, 200, 240)

Make a Nandroid back up before starting!
You must be on Stock Rooted J1 Update. To get there start HERE and you should end HERE.
This ROM is different than a "normal" ROM. It only modifies part of the system partition. This is why you MUST be on the J1 Update. It may work perfect on the G3 Update but it is not tested or supported!
Make a Nandroid back up before starting!

In a way, just dont format system and use the "del_recursive" command to get rid of "apps" and "framework" then unzip the payload. Makes for a much smaller ROM too, I might add, lol :good:
As far as being able to figure the issue out with the full stock root, not yet. But I looked in the RAM Disk and see some stuff that didnt look right pertaining to WiFi and permissions of folders so I am going to look at that lead next.
Maybe we can get a full stock root going...
But for now this does the job quite well!

Awesome! Thank you so much. One request - I use my tab in my car as a media player, and have it hooked up through my stereo line input. Whenever I play music, the tab will turn down the music about 25% (sometimes it will stop the music altogether) and display a warning "playing loud music for extended periods can damage your hearing... blah blah". This was always the case on the stock rom as well. Is there any way you could disable this 'feature' in a future build? Thanks again!

Install was smooth. No real issues. I had to flash back to G3 with odin as some apk(s) my J1 build I was running were modified from stock. No big deal, flashed it back, did the G3 to J1 OTA pre rooted, and installed the rom.

My next build for this will be an O/C kernel.
Hello everyone I'm not much of a tech but I managed to root my Note 4 and do all the backups I started removing some bloatware but I wanted to know if there is a list of things that I can safely remove I want to run stock but have the least amount of apps possible I already removed all Google apps and reinstalled what I am using I removed the native samsung sms app and I'm happy using the Google sms app works perfect for me and it's quick and clean I removed the Samsung email app just using Gmail I also removed all social media everything seems to be running perfect so if someone can give me a list of any apps or thinga that can be removed please let me know
Thank you
I think you removed the period from your keyboard.
Probably not going to get a list of apps. My suggestion is to install fire Kat v4, and leave it stock as mega has made it. Your new phone is far more powerful than required to run smooth. I thought i would need to pull all the apps etc, but there really aren't many i pulled. I pulled the ant stuff and what mega said to pull in his op and it runs amazing. Got over 49500 in antutu and almost 27k in quadrant.
If you really feel the need to pull stuff, download an app that will let you freeze apps, then freeze what you think you don't need anymore and see if you break anything.
Also do a full backup of your system after you've downloaded and installed all your favorite apps, that way if you royally screw things up you can just go back.
But get fire Kat and save yourself the hassle. I can't imagine why anyone would use stock or any other rom unless they didn't want to root or they really hated the Samsung look.
Oh and wrong forum.
Oh and please, use your punctuation keys. God gave them to you for a reason (that reason is us)
Well I have removed apps already and it's running super fast super smooth instead of almost 3 gig of ram being used at all times it's down to 1.2

U don't want more free ram. There an article somewhere about it. Google search task killers and free ram android you should see it.
You do not want to keep as much ram free as possible. The more ram used the more stuff is available for quick use when you want it.
Trust me, install fire Kat. If you want to know what apps you can get rid of, there's no point in getting rid of most apps. No one can tell you what apps to get rid of cuz they don't know what you want to use. Just install fire Kat and be done with worrying about it. So this was posted awhile back on reddit, and I know that not everyone uses reddit. So might as well post it here. If it has already been posted, then just delete mine. I looked hard and found no one on here talking about it at all.
So someone on the s6 XDA forum found out a 6 line edit to the build.prop that fixes a memory leak in Touch-Wiz. A popular user on the galaxynote4 subreddit (u/onbeskarakterl) tried it for ****s and giggles and it worked. (Can't post the link because I'm a new user to xda :C )
This is all you have to do, and yes it requires root. These lines go/are under #DHA Properties. To edit these lines I suggest ES file Explorer (with root mode enabled) or Build.Prop editor from the google play store.
I changed this line's value:
HTML:
ro.config.dha_empty_max=36
I manually added these lines below it:
HTML:
ro.config.dha_cached_max=12
ro.config.dha_th_rate=2.3
ro.config.dha_lmk_scale=0.545
ro.config.sdha_apps_bg_max=70
ro.config.sdha_apps_bg_min=8
ro.config.oomminfree_high=7628,9768,11909,14515,16655,20469
This has worked for both device models (snap and exy) on the sub-reddit. If you're using a custom rom and the lines don't exist, just add them. Make sure you do a nandroid backup through TWRP or CWR before attempting. I'm not responsible for the kiddies that miss a letter and soft brick/brick their stuff. This fix has made monumental changes for some, and miniscule on others. For me, it made my recents and many other gestures of the phone much more responsive. It almost feels like a whole different beast.
I dont even know what a memorz leak is ? I just know that my note 4 sucks compared to my ex-note 3.
i tried this but i dont see any improvements on my phone..

Read the thread I posted, The Ram leak doesn't waste a crap ton of ram. It changes the way the phone handles it. Like 20+ people have done this on the sub-reddit and have had positive results.

Like I said above, it doesn't remove leaked ram. It changes the way the ram is handled making it faster. For some people this fix solved 80% of their lag issues on TW, for others it did nearly nothing.

I'm on Alexandr rom and I also couldn't find this line

me neither, just add all of the lines then.
Funny thing. Note 4 didn't boot after editing build.prop on original original Rom
Had to restore system partition...
I had a boot loop on POF2 adding the lines, had to restore backup.

you may have to change the permissions to 744 after editing to prevent it from looping.
You know if I add all of these lines, which part of the build. Prop should I add the lines in?
