Is there a way to calibrate my touchscreen? i'm running CM9 version 20120604 and kernel Devil 2_0.94.
I have like a "sticking" or "popping" in the touch...so it isn't smooth in scrolling
It' s touchscreen-lag. It is when the touchscreen lags

If I understand you are problems to the touchscreem, and you have try install another rom . to see if works
There are a few build.prop tweaks that improve scrolling I'll see if I can find them

In your opinion, which is better, CyanogenMod or Overcome? Currently, I'm running Overcome 2.0, but have often noticed lag when I'm using it, though I'm not sure if this is a problem with the ROM.
Overcome 3.10 it looks good and is fast. I prefer touchwiz to cyanogenmod because of task manager and other samsung apps.
If you want speed go for cyanogenmod, if you want more functionality go for overcome.

No, because cyanogenmod has all bloatware removed so it is faster.

cm7 is fast but missing optimize code for tab , your music player drain 3time more than stock kernel. most video codec need software decoder. These are stopper if you use them frequency.
but things i love in cm7 is theme , i love white notification bar which cannot find in other roms.
you also can redesign auto brightness level to work as it should to be.

i remove all bloatware in overcome but quatrant score doesn't change.i think it about kernel performance.

I like the cm7 it has alot of customizable stuff ex. The built in theme chooser... I have had cm7 on both mine n my girls phone for a while no problems im waiting for the honeycomb release coming up that should be great when it finished as well

I agree with you, performance are not calculated by numbers of bloatware. Quadrant checks how fast your tab performs when doing integer, float, etc calculations, and also io checks (read, write database), 2D graphics and 3D.
check out my post about this.
if you look for speed, true open source softwares, get cm7
If you look for a balance between battery life and performance and also some stock softwares, get Overcome (if ur ok with ads blocked), the flashing knowledge is a bonus as well (thanks to thepitbull with his extensive howto).
If what you need only undervolt, add koxudaxi kernel to your stock rom.

Quadrant tests kernel, hardware and software. You may have removed bloatware but touchwiz is still there right.

Guys, recently just flashed kingdroid a I'm in search of the best rom. I'm disappointed however because my note scored fairly low in antutu benchmark test. Any one knows what makes the phone faster and get higher scores in benchmarks? Thanks.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
Ehh....benchmarks vary so much. It all depends on what you are running (app-wise) and such. Anything can change a benchmark score.
Does the ROM "feel" smooth? Does it run good for you? This is what matters most, not benchmarks.
What really borders me about the note is the scrolling. There will always be aome scrolling lag. No doubt the phone is fast, but why the scrolling is laggy? Eg. Whatsapp scroll.

Try different kernels Bro

Tried the bestest rom and kernel out there but it still cant eliminate the scroll lag. Well there might be some improvements but its not as smooth as sgs2. Anyone out there having smooth scrolling as good as sgs2?

Theres really no best KERNEL or CUSTOM ROM unless you try them all and test it on your device, EACH device acts differently, for instance ICS Stunner may be really awesome on a majority of Galaxy Notes but on mine it struggles.
You can't go wrong by trying out all different ROMS and match the suited Kernel, I know its time consuming but it's worth it in the end as you'd know which ROM and Kernel suits your needs.

I am on Kingdroid and I flash Franco r5. When I used it with Franco updater, I can run the phone at 1600 MHz with v2.0. I am happy with the performance compare with other ICS rom I tried. However it is still not as fast in scrolling as my present sgs2 with Malice rom.
By saying the "best" rom and kernel means that the majority of the community is using and trust. And i had tried ALL the ics custom roms but still the lag is there. Im coming to know maybe there is no way to eliminate the lag. If someobe out there claim that they have no lag, pls share a video thanks.

When I tried some ics roms I found them to be really laggy and there were a few bugs. If u want something really smooth I suggest u stick with GB for the time being until all tje ics problems get sorted out.

Just try Rocket ROm v4 i think the scrolling in RR roms is generally smoother compared to other roms as i have been on all ICS roms there and found RR roms has better scrolling generally. Asylum too is smooth with thor .10 kernel
try KingDroid ICS ROM v2.0 it osum
As the title says.
Im on cm7 and even simple games like temple run and cartoon quality games lag for me.
Im really not sure how to get some decent gaming performance!

I have tried this 10000 times. When im on gingerbread and run big games like mwc3 or shadowgun, it lags very much. I need nvidia plugin to run them smooth. On ics, it's like havin a sgs3

You need nvidia plugin? Is that something I can download from the play store, or is it chainfire?
It's CHAINFIRE FIRST INSTALL THE APP then search for nvidia pulgins in my opinion try an ICS rom like cm9 or slim ICS so you can play all your favourite games freely without lagging

I quite agree with this topic: I'm currently running stock 2.3.6 XXJVU ROM with CF-Root kernel, so no optimization on the part of the CPU. Games such as Contract Killer Zombies start to lag when too many enemies are displayed at the same time...
I'm thinking of upgrading to the ICS TiramiSlim RC2, I read and also got feedback from a friend, and it's one of the most efficient ICS ROMs so far...
cm9 nightly ... more than excellent

None of the GB roms, including cm7, use HW acceleration?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
seriously
gaming in ics is better now
try slimics or sgs333 or cm9 . gaming is just smouth
I have used Slim ICS, and as stated above, it works very nicely.
Gamerzrom v11 (GB) also works very well. Temple Run goes smoothly on that rom if you wanna stay on GB.

go to settings and display and hit the horizontal calibration and put on a table without moving it and press calibrate
thanks for that info.:good:
sorry, but where is the horizontal calibration option in RemICS Rom? i don't see it in ICS or JB,just in older version of Android...

What rom do you use
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda premium
The last one stable cm7 rom from the official site.
which ROM??which launcher are you using??
for me CM7 temasek 135.3 with symbiosis 1.3.1 kernel with guest toolchain fixed every lag...
when multitasking heavily i used to turn Zram ON (192mb).(also I used GO launcher EX....with every GO app and widget possible so my configuration was pretty high on memory consumption compared to other launchers)
give a try to windows 7 launcher as well..it is smooth as ****(you can also have widgets on that)
but be prepared to sacrifice a bit of functionality
Also install Chainfire3D. Boosts the performance too especially in launchers with transition effects.

Well at least that's what I noticed. You could try it out too. Try some applications without CF3D. After that install CF3D and run the same applications. Like I said, especially in launchers it eliminates the lag in transition effects. May just be a placebo but that always worked for me and significantly boosted the performance.

That's placebo, i think. Even author, Chainfire said, that due to magic strings, CF3D might won't work anymore on newer android versions.
But maybe it is side effect? Who knows...
Anyway, the buttery system from tonyp works well. Also you can use Superchatger starter kit with suoercharger script. Good Luck OP

I'm actually talking about CM7. Doesn't work on ICS and JB of course. The author of this thread uses CM7. That's why I recommended it.
