I hate using my captivate with headphones because I like bass music and I can barly hear it with my skull candys... When I plug it into a win7 computer at home It sounds SOOO amazing!!! Is there any way I can make it louder? I've tried Equilizer apps and it just makes it loud and crackly is there a way to turn it up pas 15 or somthing?
Also is there a way to get ICS on this phone?
Searching on here will yield thousands of results on ways to increase sound and getting ICS on your phone.
Check out the dev section and the captivate section to start your research.
Look for kernels that have voodoo sound. That is all.
You could also take a trip to Radio shack and buy the parts necessary to make a small preamp/signal booster for your headphones, then run a line from the Captivate's headphone jack into your preamp, then out from the preamp into your headphones.
I'm being quasi-facetious, but if you're really that desperate for additional sound levels, that is an option.
Skullcrushers bro. They have a bass preamp in them. Cheap and loud lol.

Go get a rom with voodoo sound or install ics cm9 and that has dspmanager for bass boost. Instructions for installing cm9 are in the cm9 thread..

i know a lot of people were having issues with their speakers and notifications. ive never had that problem, however i do have issues with the in-call volume on my headphones.
is there a way at all to adjust the volume output on the DX? ive seen DSPmanager for other stuff along with the louder volume hack for other stuff, but nothing for the DX. as it is right now, if im driving any significant speed i cannot even use my headphones to talk on the phone as i cant hear anything. when using the phone itself its still very low but at least useable.
im also still looking for a global equalizer. the stock "presets" for sound are horrible at best to me and id prefer to have something i can adjust globally. i know mixzing along with a couple other media players incorporate an equalizer, but id really like something across the board if possible.
Interested in this as well. The sound and volume is sooooo poor it's a shame.
For such a powerhouse...one would think the device would have 1/2 way decent sound
Agreed. I'm really missing Audiobooster right now, as well as the volume tweaks available for my old TP2.
check out the last page here volume HACK for a true volume "hack"
Yeah that's a bit too desperate for my taste...
yeah im not looking for that kind of modding yet. its also not the issue ive got.
my speaker is fine but the outputs are for some reason being cut when i use pandora/music/youtube versus phone call volume. music is fine for me. im usually 1-3 steps below max volume depending on the music, but even when the phone call volume is at full volume it sounds like it's 1/2 as loud as it needs to be.
btw im using the older style earphones to do this. they actually somewhat work with droidshuffle or beyondpod pausing/playing and as a mic for calls.
When I plug my Revo into a suround sound unit at a party the volume is much lower than everybody else's phone. Even with the external sound unit all the way up, the sound is not loud enough to be hear easily. Have looked for apps but none seem to support the revo, does anybody have an app that works with this phone?

Welcome to the pain in the ass that is our phone.
Audio pro
Volume+
Playerpro
Its a hardware issue really. You can play with anyone of these a bit and see what happens.
I personally listen to music quite a bit and I use volume+ to equalize the different music and it seems to work very well when I plug it on to my headphones or a sound system
I use volume+ also. Works great. Haven't tried the other ones.
+1 for volume+!

Hello,
Can i buy a upgraded build-in speaker for my galaxy ace.
a speaker with better sound quality than standard build-in speaker,
So yes, where can I buy it?
Thanks,
Job de Ruiter
No you can't. Unless you know how to DIY.
Try to enchant your sound using equalizers first. I'm using DSP manager myself and I was able to neutralize(instead of the cracking sound when it's too loud) by boosting the bass.
There are plenty of other choices in the market.
oke. thank you for the reply. i go look at the store for some apps
Hi I have a problem I have extremely good hearing and when I listen to my music on my note with the volume on minimum my ears hurt like hell when listening because it is too loud I measured it with a decibel meter and it is 52 decibels is there a way to make it less loud
How can it be too loud when on minimum ? It will be like a whispering mouse.
Have a fiddle with the equalizer settings, you may be able to reduce it a bit, As for mods and apps, they only exist to INCREASE the volume.
Or better still, place some cotton wool in your ears before putting your headphones in.

It is quiet with ear buds but when my big as headphones are connected they are way louder possibly because of the 50 millimeter drivers
aaaaah, that makes sense I assumed you were talking about the stock in-ear headphones.
I have some beats studios and they are very loud too, But i like it loud so its no problem for me.....
Do you have DSP Manager installed ? you could try to lower the bars to reduce the volume, Or try the app, Fine volume https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=opotech.finevolumev2

OK I will try that I have some beats pro which I unfortunately could not use because of the loudness so I used them on my mp4 player from sony
I think the best solution for you is a hardware solution, means: Buy an adapter which includes a resistor (with +/- to increase/decrease the Ohm).
All other solutions will impact the sound too much.
Those adapters are cheap and should be available at all eletronic shops.

Get an app with pre amp so you can turn the signal down b4 it's amplified.
From the man in your attic...
Hi I would like to increase the headset volume on my phone it is far to quiet when listening to music in my car via the audio jack, I used to have a galaxy s i9000 and I used the voodoo amp app that turned up the gain from -10 to +2 and it sounded incredible in the car but my Sony outputs at a much lower volume and sounds pants in comparison!
I've tried a lot of volume boost apps in play store and I've tried flashing sound mods like v4a and zeroinfinitys volume boost and superloud but nothing makes any difference at all!
And I'm stuck with a bootloader unlock allowed : no phone so unable to install custom kernels
Any help to turn up the volume in some way would be greatly appreciated......
Thanks in advance
Anybody??
One last attempt for a response lol
This phone will be for sale if I can't sort this volume out or unlock the bootloader I will go back to samsung

Wait for 4.3 update, stock volume is louder.
But have you tried poweramp ? Gain can be increased a lot.
I have had a similar issue. Increasing gain will kill quality. And I don't think you want that. My recommendation is to buy a headset with a higher sensitivity. I always look for something higher than 105db because this stupid phone.
That's good news volume is louder in 4.3! I'm currently using poweramp paid version, I have dvc enabled and I've turned up the pre amp slider on the equaliser a bit but not a lot of difference in the sound have I missed a setting somewhere??
I never use an actual headset I plug the phone into the aux in on my car stereo, I don't know the hardware differences between the 2 phones I have but with the Sony plugged in and all volumes on max it sounds very quiet but if I plug in my old galaxy s running cm7 and voodoo sound if all volumes were maxed speaker damage would almost definitely occur it is sooooo much louder and the quality is still crystal clear in my opinion
This is a problem of too high impedance of your car device for XT, hardware related... You could use a preamp.
But wait for 4.3.
