[Q] How to flash JW4 coming from cm9 slim? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello, i need urgently an answer, when i try to flash with odin, it say me "FAIL!", i used pit512 and put jw4.tar in PDA,
EDIT: i'm trying again and it works, i don't know why.

I flash a firmware with 3 files ( CSC, PDA, MODEM) then JW4. Flashing JW4 only will soft brick my phone.

[Q] DDJP6 Flash with odin

i have updated to DDJp6 via kies, now what i need to know is if i want to reflash the same firmware with odin..
there is one tar file named JP6_JP5_U_JP2, should i put the file in just pda or PDA,PHONE AND CSc all at a time together and then flash?
Use 813.pit and use the file in PDA only with Repartition unticked.
ok ill be rooting soon. what i also need to know is, if i root using clockworkmod, can i flash back to this firmware with odin?

[q] I am a total noob with unbricking my Samsung Galaxy S I9000

Hi,
Trying to unbrick my phone is driving my mind totally mad!
So far I have tried installing several CF roots with ODIN and tried to reflash the ROM with I9000XWJS3. All of them lead to no success, just a black screen and the phone vibrates every 10 seconds.
Trying to find information on this forum is easy.. but trying to put all those pieces of information together is somewhat impossible for me.
I am from the Netherlands and bought this SGS 2nd hand from someone who has rooted it. However I have no idea how that person has done that with which piece of software. I also have no idea what build number it currently has. However I do know there is no sim-lock, because the owner bought it from the KPN telecom provider and has no problems using a sim-card from T-mobile.
I am able to get into the download mode (3 button combo thingy) and Odin can successfully flash the ROM of my SGS.
Now what I need to know is which PIT, ROM, CSC, Modem files etc. I need to make this phone working again. Preferably I'd like to run it on Froyo 2.2.1 with Android market installed.
try downloading the firmwares from samfirmwares.com
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913 download the firmware from here. preferably JM8 flash that thru odin with PIT and REPARTITION and that should do the trick. then you can flash over a new rom like JPY (2.2.1)
I've successfully unbricked my Galaxy with the 'Froyo ROM that does not brick' here - "h t t p://w w w.4shared.com/file/dJiyRz3v/EUGENE373_SamsungS_Froyo_PDA.html" (Can't post as actual link because I'm not allowed to yet, just copy and paste the bit between the speech marks into a new window and remove the spaces).
As per previous poster's instructions; flash through Odin as PDA with PIT and REPARTITION (Original instructions for this ROM said not to use repartition but that didn't work for me)
You should then be able to Odin flash any new rom you like, but when you do DON'T use REPARTITION or PIT, otherwise your phone will just get bricked again.
I feel that flashing the firmwares which needs partition is safer and better than those that isn't....for my case I prefer flashing JPU than JPY or JPX...it works every time I got my phone semi-bricked, hehe...
Hello,
Yesterday i had similar problem ater trying to flash Darky's resurrection edition.
After the boot i had a black screen just like you.
Here's how i finally unbricked:
Download
- PIT 803 file multiupload.com/6JX2LEUCTY
- I9000XWJS3 pakcage from samfirmware.com (european for my case), PIT803 version : hotfile.com/dl/100247999/301207f/I9000_XEN_I9000XWJS3.rar.html
(The pwd is samfirmware.com)
The package I9000 XEN I9000XWJS3 contains 3 file (which i think is the key, trying to repartition with only one PDA file seem to soft brick the phone)
In Odin, tick repartition, for PIT select the PIT 803 file
For PDA, choose I9000XWJS3-REV03-ALL-low-CL830616.tar.md5
For CSC, choose GT-I9000-CSC-XENJS3.tar.md5
For PHONE, choose MODEM_I9000XXJPY.tar.md5
After the flash, your phone will reboot in rescue, unplug it and do a wipe/factory reset, then reboot and you should be ok.
The goal was only to unbrick my phone, but i'm totally happy with this firmware for now, my phone is a lot faster than before, and i don't feel the need of a lagfix anymore!!
Please note that this is just my experience, and you should wait for more advanced users help.

[q] help! Sgs bricked?

hey guys need ur help ^^
think my sgs is bricked tried to flash several stock roms but every time it freeze at dbdata.rfs
dunno what to do .. :S
Can you give some more info please. What ROMs and PIT? And does the phone boot at all?
personally i'd try darkyys ressurection rom with the pit that comes with it and repartition checked.
not had a hole yet that it hasnt gotten me out of.
It's not bricked, i've using a "update" ROM (most of ROM dumped from Kies spoofing) with re-partition under Odin => It's doesn't work because these update ROM doesn't in 99% of time the dbdata.rfs which is need for repartition.
If you want to use pit file and repartition, you must use a "Full" ROM like JPU ou XEN JS5 available on SamFirmware.

[Q] Can i Combine '(FROYO)' with a '(Gingerbread)' ? (Xchange PDA)

I have a rom that is just 1 file:
FROYO:
NEE.tar (PDA)
and another rom is 4 files:
Gingerbread:
CSC-XXJV1.tar
PDA-XWJVB.tar
PHONE-XXJVK.tar
pit512.pit
I want to mix this 2 ROM and the result is something like this:
CSC-XXJV1.tar
NEE.tar <-- It's from FROYO
PHONE-XXJVK.tar
pit512.pit
IS THAT WORK ?!
I risked and try that.
result => It's worked HoHaa

It worked because CSC files, Modems (Phone) and .pit settings are totally firmware agnostic. All three work with both Froyo and Gingerbread interchangeably.
The pit file simply tells Odin how to set up the partitions. The CSC is the localization info and the Modem is the radio. Both the CSC and the Modem can be flashed via Recovery after install, so there was no real need to flash them at the same time, but it didn't appear to hurt. Likely what happened is they just flashed over the modem and CSC installed by the PDA file.
However, you may want to check in About to confirm the JVK modem is what you ended up with.
Thanks for info @rschenck
I went to downgrade boot loader to FroYo (from Gingerbread). and after that I understood that boot.bin and slb.bin is in PDA file.
I have this files:
boot.bin, slb.bin from JPU ROM
PDA_XWJS8_NEE
CSC_EZbase-XXJV1
PHONE_EZbase-XXJVK
I flashed by ODIN 1.7 and heimdall but it's failed (softbreak)
after that i backed to XWJS8 and i couldn't downgrade boot loader
What's wrong here ?! Do boot.bin and sld.bin is different in different ROMS ? what i need to repartition?
I'm confused sorry

You are over complicating your life to an amazing degree...if all you need are the froyo bootloaders there are much easier ways.
Just search in Google for ezbase and android soul...on that website are excellent instructions for flashing ezbase via odin. From there you can flash anything you want.
Don't try to invent the wheel messing with bin files.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
COME ON!!!!
There is a lot of FROYO ROMs and I know that! but I want to try everythings!
and if you not in mood to help, please Don't disapointed me :\
1. anyway, I just want to know is different between boot.bin and slb.bin in all FroYo ROMs?
2.for repartition What's need in put in ODIN ? (just pda, or pda, csc, phone) ?
3.is boot.bin and sld.bin dangerous ?
Thanks again for respond.

i9000 to factory stock

my friends galS is bootlooped. i would like to odin it back to either a rooted stock rom or rooted gingerbread. i searched on google and ended up in 5 directions
thanks
Download a stock Gingerbread 2.3.4 rom (JVP or JVQ) from either SamFirmware or here
Open Odin, place PDA in PDA, Phone in Phone and CSC in CSC.
For the PIT file, choose a 512 one and remember to click repartition.
Flash away
Then once you've done that you can either flash a Kernel like Speedmod or CF-Root or download JVP/JVQ de-oxed/rooted and flash that through Odin.
thanks alot
