I have unlocked boot loader using htcdev website, still s-on. But while installation of clock work mod recovery it asks for a root. What to do? How can I achieve root with proper s-off. I'm not afraid of warranty.

If you have unlocked your bootloader, you can simply install ClockworkMod recovery in FASTBOOT USB mode using the command:
fastboot flash recovery [path to recovery.img]
You need to search, read and study to be successful.

Power off your phone. Then hold down the Volume Down key and then press and hold the Power button. This will boot you into the bootloader and you will see the HBOOT screen.
The version number is near the top.

Appears I have HBOOT 1.13.0000 So this method should work I guess? Thanks for your assistance!

Yes, you can go to the revolutionary.io site and get S-OFF. Make sure you read the instructions correctly and you shouldn't have any issues.

If you want s off you need to downgrade

Its stickied in the incredible s general section
Then you downgrade with revolutionary

There is a sticky post in this General section for gaining S-OFF when you have HBOOT 1.16 and above (that would include 2.01.0001).
There is also a post in the Development section that references this sticky post that some users have found to be easier to read and understand.
What you are asking for has already been documented and posted. Now it is up to you to read, study, understand and execute.

You might be able to find and follow this sticky
You just want root access right? You dont have to S-OFF. Unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery and flash Super User. S-OFF is for flashing custom ROMS and Radios etc..

The threads that have been offered supply adequate details for those that have searched, read and study how to successfully mod a HTC Android phone, especially with the unlocked bootloader. I suggest you do more research and studying on your own.
The days of a simple one click S-OFF and rooting the IncS are gone and it takes a knowledge of using the Android SDK tools adb and fastboot to be successful.

We had AlphaRevx and Revolutionary early on, which was fairly easy for noobs to use. Also there was a one-click thread in the Dev section for HBOOT 1.09.

Thank you, I´ll go right in there...with hope to survive the battle.. :victory:
It did not support my HBOOT 2.01.0001
Did you try the script and it failed or are you saying it doesn't support it based on the description? I've used the script on 2.01.0001 and downgraded many times.
If you ran it and it failed then post the text from the cmd window so people can see where the fail occured.

Please post the command window where you attempted to run the Downgrade script. Either the script didn't run successfully and modify the mainver to 2.00.0000 or you haven't run the suggested GB RUU to downgrade the HBOOT to 1.13.
Please read the instructions carefully. You also may want to look at this post for some suggestions about using the Downgrade script.

How to S-Off after ICS update

Hey guys, my HTC Incredible S today gets an ICS OTA update. I have updated it. The version has become 4.0.4.
I have never S-Off or Root my device at all. My Hboot 2.02 and locked. Now I want to root my device.
Can anyone tell me how many ways I can S-Off my device? Are there any other ways beside HTCDev Unlock?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys soon.
There is a guide in development called All in one for noobs made by me. That's as easy as your gonna get if you want s off

Thanks for your reply. I have read through your post. However, I saw the topic is for 1.16 and 2.0. That's why I feel reluctant whether my hboot is 2.02 which is higher than the topic you posted.
So you mean I can do it by your instructions?

Well since you have upgraded your HBOOT to 2.02.0002, the HTCDEV unlock method is your only choice right now. The tacoroot exploit that is used with the downgrade script does not work with HBOOT 2.02.0002.
Can you tell me how to get s-off after unlocking by HTCdev? As I know, it just unlock the device, cut the security is still on.

With the HTCDEV option you will be able to install custom recovery and then root the current ROM by installing su-3.1.3.zip, but you will not gain S-OFF.
Technically there is a difference, but people tend to use the terms interchangably.
Thank you for your suggestions.

For me s off allows u to change bootanimations or splash screens,I don't need titanium backup to remove system apps bloatware,I could make my bootloader say locked instead of relocked, but most of all u cud flash a rom without having to use a pc afterwards to flash a boot.img and the kernel can be change when flashing the rom,s off also allows u to downgrade and upgrade firmware at will

You can upgrade it to a newer one that is signed by HTC.
To downgrade or install an unsigned one, you need S-off.
There is currently no known way to S-off 1.54.
