[ROM] DUAL Roms (GR-5+MIUI-1.12.9 & GR-5+CM-204 both by ChinaGB) at Modaco

Found a great ROM totally based on a new concept of DUAL ROM. Both GR5 by Paul & MIUI12.2 bundled together by "ChinaGB". I have flashed this ROM today and its working well since last few hours. If interested you may try the ROM at link below. Screenshots also available there at Modaco.

11.12.2011: Subsequently another DUAL ROM developed by ChinaGB again with GR5+CM-204. Link attached. Downloading. Will flash in free time.

any tutorial? or any specific flashing procedure? wipes? can you guide please? As i read the Modaco thread, there are some functions not working...what are those?

No special tutorial needed. FULL WIPE needed, i.e., wipe data, cache, dalvik. Run CONVERT TO EXT3 by Paul and lastly flash. ROM will boot into GR5. Dont skip initial android screen. RONs can be changed by tapping dedicated icons. Lastly till now I have not found anuthing not working. Using MIUI at present. Only thing is battery seems to be draining faster than Topo's ROM & SPICA kernel. But nothing wrong in trying its an unique experience. Apps installed in one ROM shows up in other.

Partha, Thanks for the information. But, what about the free RAM? HD Video, BT, Wifi, 3G mobile data, etc?
How long is the battery after a charge?

how will you install the available tweaks in each type of the rom? it will surely get into bootloop, afaik..

BT wifi working. 3g i cannot check. RAM is more than 100mb and UI is fluid. I have mostly used the MIUI part but I think v20l will also be stable. Battery is one point which I am still testing.
Regarding tweaks as pointed out by Helldroid nothing can be done. Both the ROM uses different kernels. MIUI uses swiftextreme and v20l uses probably default with tweaks like support for voodoo. RIL is also different for both ROMs and only customisation i have done is flashed RIL in MIUI part.

I haven't calibrated my battery. You try and advise us if successful. I think try the MIUI side first because MIUI seems to be draining faster than v20l. BTW you can download ONLY 1.2MB updater in the Modaco site and flash it (I flashed it after wiping Cache/dalvik cache) to update your MIUI version to latest 12.9. Very Simple. I Liked the way of updating. BTW while flashng the update I first booted to MIUI ROM and then booted to CWM from MIUI ROM so that after flashing it boots to MIUI. Don't know if flashing from the v20L side would do any harm but I thought it safer to go by MIUI side since its a MIUI update.

I have applied the fr version changes to the rom for miui part so i think i wont be able to update the ota method . but i will try...
anyway there's currently a fr version being cooked with a customized miui

If i understand it right...must be the french version...isnt it?

I have made my own Dual ROM based on ChinaGB. It is based on GR5 the same with a little tweak things and MIUI Scotland 1.12.9 with tweak by Owain. It is awesome! But I have problem with GB baseband in MIUI Do you have this problem guys? Now stuck with Dual Froyo stock + MIUI (

yes it is , it's actually the replacement of the chinese miui by the french one (V20L not touched)
Also there a tweaked french miui version wich may be ported with your boot apps but, from what i know, it's a work in progress.

Flashed this yday but only got a bootloop.....made the three wipes and flashed the Dual ROM....had to make a restore back to Blazing Dragon again....

i have karbonn a1 altho it has a zte hard ware ..can i flashed my phn & put this rom...?

[ROM] 2.3.6 Deodexed STOCK XXKL3/Modem DDKL1 - MultiCSC - Rooted (CF-Root-KL3, CWM5)

Hi all,
this is newest Stock XXKL3 Firmware, Modem KL1
I deodexed, zipaligned and rooted with CF-Root-Kernel KL3
I also added various missing CSC-Files!
I added newest market 3.1.3
Rest is pure Stock without any tweaks!
It's a CWM-flashable NonWipe-ROM. I just flashed it over my ROCKET ROM (XXKKA) with wiping cashes only - working fast without any bugs!
If you experience problems or bootloop, do a Full Wipe in Recovery!

maybe....I am really impressed by speed and performance - and it is stock without any tweaks
But it is lots of work to put all the hacks and mods inside a new firmware - and time is my problem these days

e.g. there is no homebutton lag at all when coming from deep sleep...no lagging for 1-2 seconds - it's just running fast from the start

why not - did not test, but I am quite sure...you can test, dingo

Will try to test, but sitting right now in Wuhan and the internet speed is not realy good, so unfortunatly I guess I will have no chnace to download it and in 2h I have to check out. Maybe there is than a chance tonight in Shanghai ...

Yippee, I really need to test it but I won't be able until tomorrow. Someone else to confirm???

I just installed this rom and then had to go back to factory settings because it didn't want to boot. After that it booted but reported a problem with the android keyboard, so i chose samsung keyboard. But now i'm missing the android market!
Fixed it by installing a separate apk, but seems it's missing?

I didn't flash it but just extracted the baseband files, it seems BB 725 is included
I'm not an expert, but I just tried the following:
if you open the R375_SIC.fls file in an editor (I used notepad++) and search for the different BB version numbers, you'll find the following expression: "1035.21_20110725"

I already made a rebuild of it for me, but there is no comparable difference to V20q in speed or smoothness, so I don't think I need to upload a rebuild.

There is no changelog available, I asked LG webcare in The Netherlands

Just for Info, just flashed Baseband: it's a 0725 variation will try it a bit to see.

I've flashed the version of flelix but i noticed that the On Screen Phone is not removed (still, thank you for a flashable version).
But since it still consumes battery without reason, can i use your V20Q tweak pack for this or will it result in me flashing this rom again?

I don't need to flash the rom, I can extract everything. Downloading takes a few minutes, extracting and building the rebuild take a few minutes, too.
Uploading takes ~1h, but that's no problem.

Otherwise just guide me which memory and battery tweaks I should use on V20H alongwith Spica's HP Kernel?

I tried V20H, but it's not much better than V20q so I stay on V20q.
Maybe the V20q Tweak Pack works on V20H, too. You can try it but do a backup before because I'm not sure!
If you want memory tweaks, you can install the Supercharger, but I don't like these extra-scripts. You could install the modified Performance Pack V9 (flash it over one of spicas kernels) for better performance and super smoothness in combination with the SR2 Kernel.

v20t update?

In a Italian forum (androidiani.com) some people is talking about a OTA update named v20t whit these specs:
Versione android: 2.3.4

The positive thing is that LG is almost running out of letters for their V20 GB releases, now only u v w x y z. Almost V30....ICS? (froyo was V10x)

When the letters inevitably runs out it may be the start of the symbols era::laugh::laugh:

For ICS i have the feeling that lg may copy from CM and use v40 instead of v30 (it's only my opinion)...
Returning on topic, some people suggested (Hope dies last) that may be the a preparation for the big ics jump... But i'm very skeptical about it...
(i know that my english is sh*t)

I think ICS for o2x is still far coz they would not still work on GB (v20t?) if they were to release ICS soon

still they are releasing gb 2.3.4 at least they should have to update their version from 2.3,4 to 2.3.7

Hm, why should they have done it? Only to have the latest 2.3 Android version, or is there a solid reason why you're asking that?
2.3.3 brought us dual core improvements, 2.3.4 the improved Gtalk (voice + video calling).
2.3.5 to 2.3.7 are mainly updates/bugfixes for the Nexus S (and AOSP apps like camera). There's no real need in adapting these - and as there's always the possibility to break other things by a version bump I can understand the decision to stay on 2.3.4.

If they wished ago then they'd have but They wont now as their next is ICS and they wont upgrade kernel either for ICS as thats(ICS) is the last support they've to give for Optimus 2x.

No they have to make GB perfect which almost is before going to ICS otherwise ppl will complain neither stable gb they've to use nor stable ICS, as early ICS build are supposed to have bugs
And after making gb perfect they will merge their latest gb changes directly to ics so less work for them

If you want to use official ics based rom, you can flash django X, topogigi's rom, civato's rom etc even now.
They have bloat removed, performance tweaks, custom kernel, and more features.
So there's really little reason to wait for the Indian official ics unless you like a slower phone, more bloatware, are afraid of flashing roms or it offers anything extra

There are a few bugs in the official V30A ROM that has carried over to the modded ROMs you mentioned.

Hmmm. Looks likeb Experts commented. Lolz. But what if it is really better??. Just a positive guess, unlike your negative guess.

India is follwed by SEA update...still SEA not released....looks only after cristmas....or only by jan 1st week...lets hope no more delay...

After using almost all custom roms here ..and in 10 months my motherboard was.destroyed and my phone got heated up and battery used to drain like anything got motherboard changed and on stock ROM from lg service center ...my good 2 days and 6 hours still 15% battery left finally I have decided no more flashing and all stuffs will sick to stock already the phone works like a phone and battery last like ages also the LG service told me due to custom roms n kernels your voltage and power management doesn't work properly resulting in motherboard getting heated and destroyed ...so now me also waiting for official v 30 b from LG...they told next month first week most probably we'll get official v 30 b..

OK, cool -- versions for Indonesia and Thailand are now available for download. I am just wondering, what the actual difference is between these versions and those for Europe? Just BB/RIL, and possibly APNs?

Thailand from the link by ChenPei is also downloading just fine.
EDIT: BTW, the files for Thailand and Indonesia are 100% identical (MD5 checksum 395103e3fc507d64a0fbbc4848f177a7)...

It is exactly the same. I just compared the bootloader image file with the European V30A.
