Is there something like that? I want to view my android file system in windows but don't know how. Something like root explorer but for windows. I tried Droid explorer and Android commander but they dont seem to find my device though. I have debugging enabled. Maybe its because km on a custom rom. ICS333.
Airdroid?
If your admin on your computer then you automatically have 'root' access. You have free will to do what you please, system32 (start, c:/, windows, system32) is where all the important stuff is. But don't go tampering with it otherwise you MAY have to reinstall windows

I'm rooted and running CM6.1. It appears I lost my root access to the /data folder which I once had access to. Now when I use astro file manager on my phone and open the data folder it displays "No files or Folders" which is not true. I ran a simple "ls /data" in the terminal, and it showed me many folders.
Can somebody please help me get access back? Thanks
EDIT: just tried droidexplorer and same thing, no files or folders appear.
Try Root Explorer... I'll look for it & try to upload it for you to install, I've had good luck using it myself, hopefully it will Help You Too!!

I tired both of those already too, no anvil. I think I have to do a nandroid, because I do recall deleting the "/d" folder in the root directory, not knowing that it served any purpose.

I'd remove root explorer if I were you...Its a paid app
Warez is not allowed on XDA
Forum Rules Here
UPDATE: Back to normal after doing a nandroid, still dont know the specific cause, but thanks PMGRANDS for suggestions!
Root explorer removed. it's a paid app, so it's warez if you post it
Oh Okay.... I'm Sorry Every1.... I Was Just Trying To Help Out, Honestly I Didn't Know I About The Paid App Upload Restriction!! I Respect This Site And All Of It's Developers, Didn't Mean To Break Any Rules, Or Offend Anybody!! Sorry Once Again!! I'm Wondering Now If ES Explorer Is A Paid App? I Got It From A Rom I Installed, I'm Using The XDA App, & Can't Figure Out How To Delete The ES Explorer Apk. I Uploaded From My Laptop Which I Won't Have Access To For A Few Days.... If Any1 Knows How (If Possible) I'd Appreciate The Info!! Thanx!!!

I'm familiar with the linux filesystem, but what i'm not sure is how to access or view this file system. Say I wanted to place a file in /etc/system, what program can i use to do that? When connected to my PC via USB, all I get is the SD card with download..data...titanium backup..gps...etc
Cheers

First you need to root your phone. As the term implies it gives you root access.
Then use an app like root explorer to get into root directories, mount them as rw, then do as you will.

Hello,
for me sounds like you need root access to your system to see this folders and a file explorer with root too like root explorer....but is not for free. I already didn´t found a free option.
Is only a idea...I didn´t try self
Edit: I was too slow :-D

My phone is rooted with Darky's 9.5. I would know how to do this in linux, mounting...chmod for permissions, something like that...are you saying an app like root explorer lets me access /etc, /mnt, and so on? Are there free alternatives?
If you want you can try this both....but the feedback is very mixed..some like some hate
Android Mate Free
Super Manager
If you try please gimme a feedback
with linux can you view the main system on a mobile phone in our case the droid 3. I'm thinking although I have no idea if I'm thinking right. But I'm asking is if linux showing the system and sd card and so on could we not create a presumed theme with superuser and everything else need for root, inject it into the system content create a special App witch applies the theme and creates root it self. So I'm thinking if we are not able to make this theme active through maybe adb? I noticed this while using win7 that through a command terminal a created them can modify windows system files and so on. Yes I do realize windows automatically gives administrator permission but this also worked on a non admin user profile pretty much what we are without root permission.
PS. I just started using linux so I don't fully understand it but I do understand win7 completely

Nope. Doesn't work like that. If you can get terminal to run from /system, that would work. But to do that, you need to remount /system as r/w, and to do that, you need root. Thus, SOL for now.
Hi there, when i browse play.google.com and i find an app i want to install i can just click it and it will install itself on my tablet.
A nice feature and i wonder if there exists any tool or maybe a site that does the same for .apk's i have already on my PC?
Try "MoboRobo", software that installs on a windows PC...let you load anything via the PC.
Videos, music, apps, etc...
Enjoy.

If you are command line savvy then a simple way may be to use 'adb push' to copy the apk directly to /data/app or wherever.
Or for multiple apps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835732
And also a really simple methid is to have adb and the app in ths dame directory and run adb install app.apk

Re: Whatsapp working on the hp touchpad
Well, thank you for the reactions, but this is not what I meant.
I was talking about installing from a PC without wires.
At the moment I mostly use dropbox or box.net to upload the apk's to, then installing with ES file explorer.
I used to use Samba filesharing too.
But Googleplay manages to let me click on install and instantly installs it on my Android device, I don't think that your options work that way, right?

Is there a program similar to Android Commander or a way to browse Note 3 system files on Windows PC? I've tried Android Commander which works on my S2 Skyrocket but it doesn't work with Note 3.
Why not use the stock windows file explorer?

If there is a way to access system and root files from explorer please explain to me how it's done. I know you can copy/delete files from storage on Androids using Windows.
I have been trying to find a good way to transfer files between the phone and the pc since 4.3 touchwiz came out. I've been using SSH Droid for months but something in our system is throwing it off because it doesn't work on my 4.3 Note 3 or Note 2, but does work on CM 4.3 on a different device. SSH Droid was great if we could just find out what's borking it on our phones.

Haven't tried on a note 3 or 4.3 device. Was legitimately asking you why you couldn't use it.

I just want to be able to browse root/system files and copy them to PC or transfer from PC to root/system. I used Android commander all the time with S2 Skyrocket and it worked flawlessly.
In case anybody else was wondering, I found this it seems to work.
