Hi,
Basically I'm trying to reset my Galaxy Note (Stock) ICS.
I tried the three finger salute (volume up+ home+ power button) and the "Factory Data Reset" in settings.
Everything is being erased and reset, but somehow some data is still left on the phone since games like GTA 3 and Machinarium don't require me to download the extra game data, indicating the while the device was "reset" it wasn't a full one.
My question is, is there any way to do a full full reset, where everything is erased?
Anyone?
Is there another hard reset procedure?

You can perform full reset by opening the dial pad then key in the following code in sequence; *2767*3855#
Yes
Yes the problem is that the factory reset does not format your SD card.
So you dont need to wonder that there are still the gaming files.
You can format your SD card in the settings menu.
Hope that could help

Yesterday i upgraded my Galaxy S to Froyo 2.2 using kies. The upgrade went fine but the issue is whenever i boot up the phone after a boot it gives force close errors. I have wiped data partition and cache without success. How can i resolve this? Will I have to downgrade? If yes, then how?
Regards
Have you tried wiping data/factory reset via 3-button download mode (by holding volume up+home and then pressing power button until it starts up)?
Same here, did data/factory reset via 3-button mode and now its perfect. Did loose all apps mind you, but who cares
My own rule of thumb is that i dont wipe cache or internal sd (using the recovery vol up+home+power) after an update through kies.
I do it before the upgrade.
Works like a charm.

facepalm. Serious facepalm. No there are none. Not in pinned topic, not in samfirmwares, not in each and every topic where new firmware is discussed.
hey folks,
today, i changed the sim card of my galaxy to see if my new contract already has service. it did. but that is not the story. i changed the sim card back an booted the phone. unfortunately, i wrongfully plugged the sim in so that i had to turn it around. unpatiently, i removed the battery while android was already booted but the widgets and stuff weren't loaded yet. then turned the sim card, plugged the battery back in and now the phone doesn't start anymore. first i'm seeing the galaxy s gt-i9000logo. after that follows galaxy s and underneath cyanogenmod in letters. but the fancy animation of cyanogen doesn't start.
i am able to get into download mode but not into recovery (cwm). i'm on cyanogen mod 9 build 17 of teamhacksung (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363593).
any clues what happend to my phone and how to make it work like a charm again?
thanks!
First try cleaning cache and dalvik from recovery and boot else clear cache/dalvik and then re-install rom again.
how can i clean the cash and dalvik if i can't get to cwm?
If you have titanium back installed then there is an option to clear it from its menu.
well, i have titanium backup installed on my phone but how can i access it?? maybe you could give me a short guide?
I've had this a couple times, try holding down 3 button combo while you are charging the phone. If you manage to get into recovery i highly doubt clearing cache etc will help. If you're able to get into cwm you'll prob have to reflash rom otherwise use Odin :/..

Oh sorry i thought you are able to switch on the phone.
Flash a GingerBread firmware which has 3 different files PDA, MODEM and CSC. If you don't have a FW with 3 files, download this http://androidadvices.com/valuepack-update-samsung-galaxy-face-unlock-i9000-xxjvu-236/3/ I used the Odin v 1.85.
thanks mate!!!! that did the trick for me. now i have to root my phone and get back to ics.

hold volume down, home and power buttons together for like 12 sec then the system should enter into recover mode.scroll by volume keys and reach factory reset and press home key.i thick this will resolve the issue.

go to recovery and wipe data flash rom then again wipe data
Your phone is bricked. You'll have to reflash a ROM and wipe data.

No, he isn't bricked yet. He just stuck at ANDROID text. So maybe half-bricked. If he can enter Recovery Mode then you are in good luck. If he can't then bad luck, but if he can enter Download Mode, then lucky come to you ! (then if he can't, congrats... you have a trashed phone.)

Agreed. If you can enter recovery and/or download, just go and reflash another rom or the stock rom through CWM or ODIN.
Maybe one click unroot?
woops sorry wrong thread

oh my, that's a big problem... go to recovery, wipe data, cache and dalvik cache, then format system, flash rom again, and reboot...
Lol...don't be afraid nothing has happened ...since it uses aroma installer you should not wipe data before flashing miui...
Here is what you can do...
Flash a new rom may cm7 or anyother (not miui) ...then again boot into recovery and flash miui without wiping data ...afaik you will be ok...

Thank you guys for help and calming me down! Now i will try to reflash ROM.
Silly question here? Does factory reset (power + volume down) restore the settings on the hidden menu? I was playing with the Wifi modes and settings on hidden menu, got a better battery status after that, but a slower wifi conection. Well I need to restore this, does factory reset, reset the settings?

It should but, if it doesn't, reflash using LGFlash Tool.
Will wipe everything in internal memory!!!
Will format the partitions and reinstall, factory reset... the difference is the tool will
reinstall the complete android system
Probably better and cleaner than this will be impossible...

That is tutorial how to downgrade from v20 leaked versions to v10x version, and from your signature you have stock ics without root so if you want flash stock rom you need one of the fallowing methods!
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
or
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2134192
and the site for download stock rom: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=15
Just choose your phone model on top of the page
But the adult knows my wife won't approve. Bought two nook HDS awhile ago. Mine, i immediately installed cm11 on the SD and run off that. Meanwhile I've left hers alone. Hers started randomly rebooting itself. Should I convince her to just let me root it and install cm11 and then download the nook app for her or is there a known fix for stock p.o.s. on it? I guess it might be important to say she's an iPhone user and does not like change. I've been at work all day and she approached me now about it as if I have a magic wand and can fix it asap. Seeing how I rarely use mine anymore due to upgrading to my note 10.1 and installing cyanogenmod, give her mine and say stfu? Lol but seriously...is there a fix for a stock nook HD without modifying it?
Sent from my GT-N8013
Yes. Go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a bootable CWM SD per item 1a. Use that to flash the plain stock zip from item 6 followed by a factory reset with CWM. It will be back like it was out of the box and she can set it up again.

Not a button combo, but you can try an erase and deregister in settings.

Really? Then what's the factory reset option when holding power home and volume up? Power to exit...home to reset

That resets but does not deregister. But that may fix it. The erase and deregister is a setting in stock. But that button combo is wrong. You do not need the volume up, just power and home.

What does deregistering do? I'm not following why there's a need to unregister the device with Barnes and noble when this happens to be a software/hardware conflict or something. I figured out a way to replicate it. Downloaded clean master from the play store and tried to free up memory. Reboots every time. Is there a recovery mode yo clear cache/dalvik?

The deregister removes the registration from the B&N servers. You probably don't need to do that. I was just explaining the difference between erase and deregister and factory reset. You usually only do that when you want to transfer ownership to someone else. And no, there is no recovery mode to clear cache/dalvik. It only has stock recovery which is that thing that says factory reset or not. But a factory reset does clear cache/dalvik (along with everything else).
