Verizon doesn't sell new revolutions anymore but they do have refurbished ones that they will push on him. I have seen stories in these forums of people who went to the store and put up enough of a stink about their revolution that they got a different phone. However I think most of them were on their second or third replacement.

yeah iv seen that myself first hand but hes not the kind of guy to make a stink over things. thanks for the help and replay. im talking about asuron (spelling sorry) what would they give? a refurb? or something else?

All depends on the problems really. Usually they'll just give a replacement.

thanks not what he wants to here but we will try thanks for the help man. please mods get rid of this

I went through 3-4 Revos before they sent me a different phone. Good luck with whatever happens.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Verizon does not handle the insurance. Asurion I believe does. They most likely have plenty of Revolutions in stock. What he will most likely get is someones factory reset POS. They don't actually fix the phones you send back. If they boot, they wipe em and re-flash them. they do a few quick tests then in the bin it goes for warranty and insurance replacements.

i never knew of them giving you a different phone, just tell him to root and flash a custom rom and the phone will be better than a new one

g1 dead plz help

my t mobile is dead..couple of days ago it turn itself of i turned it back on and it when into safe mode then it turned of again and now it want come back on at all tryed charging it but nothing no lights no nothing i took battery out and left it for awhile put it back in then it lite up but no screen came on and would not turn of so took battery out again and still nothing its just dead if any could help i would be grateful but to me i think it should go in the bin as i didnt get the phone of t mobile so can't take it back to them
g1 in the bin
g1 has got to be the worst phone i have ever put my hands on load of **** think its time for the bin only place its good for but thanks for the help
Try with another battery. If it does not work, your phone is completely dead.
I had similar issues with my old G1 and the only solution for me /after trying with another battery/ was to buy used G1 from ebay with broken screen, in order to replace the motherboard.
thanks
thanks but i'm not going to buy another g1 as i know its only about 7 or 8 months old and if theres a problem so soon then theres always going to be problems not a very good phone at all thinking of getting a nokia phone instead they don't seem to have all the problems that these phones do cheers anyway
maybe all the run on sentances lack of punctuation and other stuff just made it go insane and give up and just die because it didnt want to put up with it anymore and because everyone else out there never had any problems with their g1 at all so maybe you can get a replacement if you have the insurance or whatever but you already said you wouldnt have another one because its a total pos phone and i guess you better just go buy an iphone or whatever from ebay because they usually almost always sometimes have decent phones on ebay and when you get it you need to put an otter box on it to keep it in good condition or else your screen will smack slap give a dog a bone break in two piecs and youll be all BOOOO HOOO HOOO HOOOOOO MY IPHONE ARE BROKED AGAIN so then youll drop att like a hot pertado and come back to tmo with a brand new nexus one but hten you realize you need to keep your att contract for 2 more yearzes and you have to get a att nexus one instead of the tmo nexus one and youll be happy and in hog heaven ok cool great k thx bye

I WORK. for the money
Sorry your phone will be of no use all they did is flash your ROM with the Factory Stock. Or they may have even replaced your entire motherboard if your sister ran over it.
Yeah, thats sounds about right for a mobo replacement and htc does not flash the phone at service, the firmware is already flashed to the motherboard, or so I read.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? Are 15 year old kids suddenly not allowed to have a good phone? Who cares how he paid for it?
That said - thanks OP for thinking of the community, but I don't think there is anything anyone can do to extract that.
Not gonna lie.. you kinda got my hopes up.. my nexus has been freezing up on me a little often now.. and i was going to send it in for warranty but I read ur warranty is voided if u unlock the boot loader so now im stuck..

He sent it in rooted and they sorted it though. Ive heard quite a few stories now though of rooted phones with blatantly not software/rooted related problems and HTC being the honourable Taiwanese they are happily repairing the phone anyway [tbh it probably costs more of them to flag the phone, invoice for return carriage, store separately etc etc than just effing fixing the thing.]

Thanks man. thats why i'm on XDA to benefit myself with knowledge and others with my knowledge . but i really need to help who needs their warranty back.i will do my best if there is any possible way.
Age
I'm 15 too and I have a nexus
I think Android at a young age can only benefit the future!
I mean, especially being within this XDA rooted community, a kid can learn.
besides that,
I'm also pretty sure this stupid boot loader nonsense will someday solve itself, thanks for the honest effort in trying to help out the community.

I put a whole year's worth of money into mine.
I'm only 14.
I've dealt with HTC customer service a few times, and it's 100% true they don't care if the phone bootloader is unlocked or not. If you do an exchange they specifically told me that all they do is check the phone for physical and water damage and that's it. They honored my warranty, at least
Seriously guys chill. I'm 15 and I have a Nexus, a Droid (thanks to Google's device seeding), and an ADP1. The Nexus & ADP1 I bought with my own money I had saved up from mowing yards. What does it matter how old the owner is?
Im only 14 and i bought my nexus when i was 13. i worked my butt of to get this phone. just because your young does not mean you cant buy an expensive phone. I mowed lawns, you went to your everyday work. why does it matter how old you are, or how you got the money to buy it?

I'm also 14 and own a Nexus One. It's ignorant to say "your ____ years old you don't deserve this phone". Not everybody was gifted the phone.
Damn when I was 14 I don't think I would have had the will power to save $600, would have kept spending it halfway through lol. Props to all you young guns!
I cant even remember when my kids were 14 years old let alone when I was. Seems like forever ago. Still, I like to see kids earn their toys, makes em respect the investment. Good work young fellars.

+1. I like to see kids work and save to get something they really don't need, but want. It's okay, as long as they don't use them some way that's going to get them into trouble.
But still, I am curious - who gets to pay for those data plans? Buying the phone is only the beginning of the expense.

Can I return my phone if I Root it ?

I am in California so I have 30 days from the day I received the phone in order to return it. So I am thinking should I return it ?....If I root my phone, can I still return it without any repercussions from rooting ?...
If you are asking why do I want to return it: IDK honestly, just feel kind of stupid/bad for spending so much on this phone especially when some of its tech is already phased out (the touch screen sensor)...but it is not on a contract and I guess I can always buy another phone and even try to sell this one....
any ways..if you have any ideas/comments on any of these issues then please advise me. The main thing here is I want to know if I can return it if I root it ?
Don't think so, you void the warranty when you unlock the bootloader. I would have to imagine that your right to return it goes with the warranty as well.
I understand what you are saying, but returning and warranty are two different things, they would not necessarily be linked...
any other insights ?
Tech is phase out???? example touch sensor?
You coming from which century? year 3010?
Well if you go buy anything and void your warranty don't expect them to refund you lol
You should be able to return it unless the seller of the phone powers it on to inspect it.
buyers remorse
just return it. if you feel like it's outdated, that's a cop out. if you feel like it's defective, clear conscience.
If you root it you will never WANT to return it

I've been hearing you complain about the phone being outdated all over the place, can you hurry and do whatever you're going to do and go to the HTC Incredible section, if there is one.
Have you already rooted it? if not, don't until you are sure you don't want to return it.

So what? There are other members who want insight and all I see is "yes its worth it, just keep it etc..." I mean I understand they are writing in the Nexus One section, but that does not mean they should only read/get the positive replies about the phone -there are others like me who have gripes about it and I will share my opinion as long as they are asking...why don't you just ignore everything I say since you seem so upset that I am offending your phone simply by bringing up truths and opinions WHEN ASKED mind you. Did I say the PHONE WAS OUTDATED? NO (which is beside the point any ways)- I said some of the tech is outdated/being phased out already such as the Multi Touch Sensor...now if that hurts your feelings or makes you upset then take it up with google -I for one feel that I would like to have been able to have the new MaxTouch sensor included in the Nexus, but since that is not the case then it is definitely something which makes me second guess if I should keep it or wait for another phone to arise with the MaxTouch tech.
Now why would you reply such a way to this topic when I am asking if I can return it if it is rooted, you reply has nothing to do with my topic...is it really bugging you that much? Do you really care about what I am doing/saying so much?(thanks BTW haha )
LMFAO - Look at what I found:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=650854
Looks like ~Eclair was in the same concerned position as I am....You just happen to talk about the same thing as me also -the tech being outdated...it just so happens that it HAS already been outdated (with regards to the touch sensor that is) and that is what I was unsure about...So why are you all of a sudden coming back at me like you never had the same concerns about the phone..I am sure we are not the only ones who have these same concerns and others may want to hear it -if not they can overlook it, simple.
Put simply: just stop and either please try to be helpful or don't reply at all..seems reasonable, doesn't it ?
That was funny finding that thread you made though and you are here coming after me about the same thing you created a thread about...
imo, if you didn't want this to happen you shouldn't have posted why you wanted to return it. Just simply stating the question would do.
and I also believe that rooting would cause the phone to be non-returnable. But since they can relock the bootloader, there's also not much reason why not.
yea I wish someone had some definite insight into this topic...

[Q] Odin3 One-Click Downloader - Is It Legal

Here is why I am asking......
All of a sudden my phone would not connect to my PC. SO I took it to the service dept for AT&T. I knew tihs was going to be a huge mistake.
The girl bricked my phone and told me I would need to buy a new one for $365! I was freaking out and scoured the web and found this site!
I dowloaded Odin3 and my phone is working great!
First I want to thank anyone and everyone for the knowledge to get my phone working.........this was a lifesaver!
After she bricked my phone, I bought a GO Phone for $20 to hold me over until I could fix it or get a new one.
If I was able to do this, why wasn't AT&T able to do this?
Before I call Customer Service and chew someone out I want to make sure this is something they should have been able to do.
Thanx for this site!

Nope, perfectly legal. I can't really see why it wouldn't be. The only reason they want you to buy a new one is because they are very greedy and will do anything to get your money. That's weird though, since usually they replace it for free if it's something like that
Mind you any damage that occurs to your phone while in a ATT representative is their responsibility, there for, they needed to replace. Given you where going to get a refurb probably xD. Odin is Samsung's own software. How ever it does void your warranty, In theory anyways.

Well.......I did sign a waiver that they were not responsible if something did happen.
First I shouldn't have signed the waiver.........but the fact that I did......and was able to fix my own phone.....why didn't they fix it......

My experience with local ATT service is 80% of them don't know how to use android. They really DO NOT know what they are talking about half the time. And just pure lazy.... I don't know if ATT has Odin, or offers it to them. Even if they do it will be on the few tecs each office might have.

T mobile won't replace my Note 4 because it's rooted?

I see a bunch of people who say they get can get replacement phones from t mobile with no hassle even if their knox counter is counted
Long story short, doesn't matter if it's stock or a custom rom, a few of my calls go straight to my voicemail and my phone doesn't even ring or give me a notification someone called. A few other people here had that problem and told me to just get a replacement. I don't care if it's a new or refurbished device but when I called t mobile and asked for a replacement they me to factory reset (which I did) and try turning off VoLTE and everything was going well until I had to open my big mouth and told him I rooted it. He said I am covered by the manufacture warranty if it's not rooted, since I told him it's rooted will they write a note on my account saying my warranty is voided? Do you guys think because I mentioned root, he assumed my device is still rooted?
Should I just call again and try a different person? I don't wanna lie and then have them charge me $699 if I don't tell them I rooted my phone on my 2nd try of getting a replacement....

simple. factory it back dont root. so its not lying. your device isnt rooted anymore. just dont tell them you rooted. Thats like shooting yourself in the head and praying your still live. Ignore the asshole who told you about noting your account. rooting doesnt break the phone. its already defective. it makes me so frustrated to hear any rep giving the customer the middle finger when they dont understand squat about root. If you are within the 14 day buyers remorse period i suggest you call into that department and get a new one sent out.
If you want to see if that person documented anything on the computer about your root comment call in and ask about the day you where helped by him. ask if the rep can read/look into the comments if there is any notes about your "return status". Try it a couple of times if no rep mentions about any root comment and void warrenty then you are good.
You my friend are definitely a noob. You never ever admit anything. Never. And the proper fix would be for you to call tech support and tell them your phone rings once before voicemail and you wish for them to extend ring time before voicemail. That will fix your issue.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Your Warranty Is Not Void ...I'm not sure the validity of this but it makes sense per the consumer protections on warranties.

You asking in wrong thread. Go read the thread for rooting and walks you thru it.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
I had the same issue when I activated my note 4 with Tmo. Wasn't receiving calls or texts. Called customer service then they ended up creating a tech ticket. Because they couldn't solve it themselves, they told me give them 48hrs. And it'd fixed. After about 13hrs they had it fixed. So give them a call explain your issue DON'T AND NEVER MENTION ROOT. Be persistent don't hang up until you have an answer. And they'll fix it..
Good luck:highfive:
I can't blame them for not wanting to support every newbie that miss flashes or flashes a crappy rom and can't get his dialer or modem to work or some other silly bug.
Like "let me experiment and then let Verizon bail me out with a new phone everytime I can't find my way out of the mess I created"
A simple factory reset should fix all, but some destroy even that ability.
Yes they can reflash but it shouldn't be under warranty.. Should be a fee to bail such folks out... Sorry that's not popular to say but if you owned Verizon, would you do the same?
Buy a car and tear into the engine and screw it up then try to get warranty to fix it!
But I agree, if you own your phone and are willing to sign a disclaimer releasing them from warranty they should remove restrictions.
That still makes them vulnerable to folks messing with the network though.
As long as they can't tie the problem to your mishandling your good.
Perfect example... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57360032

Your analogy is fatally flawed. I mean it shouldn't even have to be pointed out, it's that flawed. Flawed isn't even the right term.. Asinine? Eh, it's not even worth brainstorming for the proper term.
@telling them you are rooted lmao
I have never called anyone a noob on here before but you sir, is a noob.
And I say this with the most lovable respect. Lol
NEVER...EVER say you are rooted! Do not mutter the word "r" even if you were only rooted for 1 second!
That's not true my first note 4 was rooted and it shows that on their end I didn't even bring it up. The lady told me to restore back to oem spec if I wanted to keep my warranty. I did and called back the next day they sent me a new phone.

The only way that happens is if you use the mytmobile app. Which is still your fault. We all know it sends back info to them about root status.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Sends back more than that... WAY more

So much for the common (incorrect) assertion the tripping Knox will cause TMO to force replacement through insurance and paying deductible. ?
