[Q] Hint for my LG x2 - LG Optimus 2x

Aloha!
I'm a newbie here, just registered after a long term consultation of this goldy resource.
I actually have CM7 with [email protected] #1 kernel and I damn love it, but i love to test everything i can (i used MIUI for several months, and i changed to cm after the support removing for this device).
I'm not writing just to introduce myself here and thank everybody for the passive support you gave me through the threads I rode here, but to have infos or rumors about the best CM9 based (official or not) stable ROM released and tested 'cause i'm thinking to have an upgrade
Sorrying for my bad english
I salute you all

I've been using CM9 for almost a month now, and my only complaints are occasional force closes and the need to reboot every once in a while. If you want your phone stable and fast, keep it with CM7. CM9 is very good and also fast, but not as stable. The problem is, once you try it, you'll have a hard time going backwards.

Hard time for what?
Isn't enough to backup anything and flash the phone in order to restore a backup did with cwm??
What's failing with cm9 that make you to do a reboot? And how often?
What version of cm9 are u using ?

Hi.
I think rockaroller says that you need free time to do backups and restores. CM9 is innestable and need reboot frequently. the best of newbe is CM7 or V20q.
When you know what a nandroid, because we have no hardware acceleration in CM9, a kernel and I do not think you should do to get into "beta" as CM9
I'm sorry for my bad english too.

I said you'll have a hard time going backwards because ICS brings a way better user experience than GB or Froyo.
In what comes to backing up your data and restoring it again, there are no problems. And you can flash GB or Froyo anytime you want.
EDIT: typo fixing.

Do those issues apply to every CM9 ROMs?
What are the known issues apart from lack of hw acceleration?

The problems with CM9, at least for me, are related to the camera and enabling or disabling data. About the camera, it's because the lack of media acceleration, so it's completely understandable. When it comes to enabling or disabling data, I do it very often - sometimes when I disable it, I can't enable it back, and that forces me to restart my phone equally often. But, as I said before, the better user experience makes up for it.

I'm trying nova rebuild - a cm9 rom based - to now I think it's the best rom I've tried..
Little drained battery.. But I'm not working on undervolt and similar.. O change kernel..
My 2 cents
Inviato dal mio LG-P990 con Tapatalk 2

so Nova seems stable uhm...
I'alla wait for the cm9 release for my device U.U
Thx anyway ppl

Best Rom for Optimus Black; Discussions & Opinions

Hi just trying to get a clearer picture here, what would be the best/most stable rom for the OB? What is the most commonly used rom for OB? And does installing another rom screw up stock camera functions cos I do like the stock camera functions and capabilities.....
Thanks
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
There's basically three custom roms : NOVArom, PAY's rom and Cyanogenmod rom; and stock 2.2a/b/v/d... and leaked stock 2.3a
So, out of all these, the most stable, most battery friendly, most hard functioning rom with overclocking feature is NOVA rom v8. But only downside is it's froyo.
Now, if you want a highly advanced rom with countless possibilities of customizations; but can handle a few known audio and video bugs, the go for Cyanogenmod nightly.
Personally i am on Cyanogenmod kang by redy2006, and nova kernel. Audio bug is almost negligible for me, but 720p hd recording is not that much good here.
Pick what meets your need..
How much different would froyo on Nova rom be as opposed to stock gb I mean not in bits and bytes but overall user experience...
Cm audio bug what happens exactly? (skip, stutter etc)
Don't really care for 720video tho (hardly capture video but use alot of camera tho)
Basically I just wanna make my device perform at its peak and want it to be speedy and reliably stable (have alot of snap mins where I have to access my tools instantly)
Thanks in advance....

Oh it just bugs the hell out of me that my device could be much snappier & stable but currently capped and cluttered by useless stuff provided by carrier.... :/
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
Well, you can root it and remove a lot of those stock apps. I've removed about 35 apps, and none of those were from my carrier. Makes the phone a bit snappier, but the camera is and has always been rediciolusly slow. from i press the button to the processed image appears, it takes like 30 sec or something, dunno why, using V10e. Haven't tried NOVA or CM yet...
I thought abt doing that, but I've read somewhere that if I delete stock included apps from stock rom it might screw the os (much like if uninstall progs from windows )
Truth?

+1 great room
CM is indeed great, but it is still in nightlies.
i prefer a full working stable ROM and thus i use NOVA v8. it is stable even with 1.3 Ghz O/C with my black(i would sugghest NOT to try this...very few of the blacks can actually be stable at 1.3, most of them max out at 1.2,1.25 Ghz)...the conclusion is u can stay stock(almost) but with various tweaks which will get the best out of your black...
but what is good for you is for u to decide. like, few days ago, i thought of getting a total ICS overhaul of my black. so, i installed a CM7 nightly amd tweaked it to my hearts content. ICS wallpapes,ICS theme, animations,Lockscreen,Music, even the ICS outlines SWYPE!!!...used it for a few days, got bored and flashed back the NOVA backup.
try the ROMs available, use it for some days to get a "backup-able" stable image and then switch over from one to another.
i have a CWM backup f NOVA8, stock10g and the CM#20 nightly builds....and each of them are stable, has my applications installed
hope i helped
As soon as CM7 or CM9 for that matter is released as stable, i'll switch to it right away, no matter which official version LG can offer. I'm so jealous of all the cool available mods/themes for CM. For me using them on stock rom, it's a whole lot of work, and will only partially apply. LG roms seems so sensitive to changes as well, probably due to their implementation of OEM bloatware into Android roms. And don't you guys hate all the use of blue/cyan colors all over the menus, windows, buttons etc? It's so butt ugly, especially the speech bubbles in the default sms app...

i have most of these craps deleted. feels SOOO childish!!!!...u cannot expect 2 have such colorful and weirdly "girly" kind of UI on such a mature and sleek looking hardware....i even deleted the lg msg, dialer, home, gallery, bla bla bla and went in for a complete GO!(launcher, locker, dialer, contacts, widgets, etc etc) for my black. now i have a "blackish-blue" kind of galactic theme for most of the GO!offerings and my cell looks to be dressed to kill

First you need to install CWM Recovery from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529863
Second you need to download CM9 from here:
http://galaxyics.com (Click DOWNLOAD, scroll down and click on Select below the Mini picture, then click on Releases, then click Download)
Then flash it through CWM.
You might know this already, but if you really want to install CM9 in a SGM, you need to have in mind that CM9 in SMG is not stable (yet). For example, if you want to install the CM9 of Squadzone, you should really read these two links:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20495725&postcount=225
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20703957&postcount=286
Of course, there are other versions of CM9 for Samsung Galaxy mini in the Dev. Forums, but I didn't try them.
About the CWM, I use the v4, because at the first time when I wanted to install CyanogenMod, the CWM v5 didn't install the ROM correctly (never passed from the bootscreen "android"). And the Backup/restore in CWM v5 didn't work it (at least in my Galaxy Mini). But the Restore function worked perfectly in CWM v4 and, until now, I hadn't problems installing other ROMs in my SGM.
I really recommend (for now) use CM7 RC 5.6 or (RC 5.3 - the one that I'm using it now). If you want CM9 only for the ICS Appearance, you can install a ICS theme with "Theme Chooser" from CM. There's also an ICS Launcher that works good.
Just Saying~
you need to have in mind that CM9 in SMG is not stable (yet)

From that link in my previous post I installed CM9 on my SGM and it is very usable to me.
I'm not using it constantly because it lacks some features that I found, and I'm used to, on squad's CM7, for example. But it's very good.

Nice! which CPU governor did you use and with what Min and Max frequency? How did you do with the laggy visual effect? right now, would you prefer CM9 more than CM7 from squad's? I'm asking all these questions because I want to have CM9 in my SGM but somehow, the first and second time I installed that CM9 I went back to my CM7.2 RC 5.3 backup xD

I always use as Governor lilgV2 (or SmartassV2 when present) and I/O noop. On that ROM the laggy visual effect is hardly noticed, try it!
As I said before: I'm not using CM9 (yet) because it lacks some features that squad's CM7 has. But if you are not used to them, you will not note any difference.
You should try it and see for yourself.
Regarding CM9 Beta4, just read the thread in this section and the entire thread in the dev section before you fiddle with it and decide if it's worth it for you.
There's a lot of fiddling and some things are somewhat working while others, like camera, are just not working at all.
IMO, it's not for daily use and won't be for a long time but if you have a spare mini, give it a try and help with the development and bug reporting.

Though it seems you asked for an opinion on which one to use and it does appears that you did your homework and read up on both the main miui roms available at the moment, imo to say that there are to many complaints regarding them is a little unfair as there isn't a rom forum on here that doesn't in some shape or form have an compliant on whats not working or could be improved that's human nature.
As I really can not comment on the VengeanceNote Edition MIUI 2.8.3- v2.4 + Test builds version due the the fact that I'm not a big fan of cm9 but the rom developer (Gerrett) works very hard on improving it for being a test build (as the title suggest) so yes bugs are to be expected as in any rom. I personally do use the TMT-ver 2 and when properly flashed as per instructions it performs very well. Yes it does have a suspected kernel but being a long time miui user I flash mine from a relatively safe kernel , wipe cache, dalvik, format the system, factory reset then flash the rom and reboot, along with formatting my internal sd card and installing from scratch though it takes me a bit (1 hour or so) and everything works fine and it saves me a few headaches along the way, there are the standard things that miui themselves need to fix like the fc's in the About phone Status and in the Mobile Networks when you want to select Network Operators (these have been known issues since my S2 days) and few people have an issues with the theme manager but for me it does what I want it to. I get decent battery life being a semi-light user never less then a day and a half to 2. But it does vary on what I'm doing..
In the end to ask an opinion for what to use you'll get a variety of each individual who answers your post but what might work well for them may not apply to you and your phone so try what you like if it doesn't suit you then move on to another..

DEBUG ICS ROM user thread

I thought that it would be a good idea to create a user thread to ask all the non development questions, since they are cluttering up the dev thread.
I reserved a post for an faq... I'll make one if I ever get the time, but if someone makes one I'll link to it.
Again, as it has already been said, this is a dev Rom and isn't ready or intended for noobs to use.

FAQ
This isn't really that great of a FAQ right now because I don't have the time, but here's some useful info. If someone takes the time to make a better one, let me know and I'll link it in this post.
Sorry, I haven't been maintaining this FAQ, I'm currently extremely busy. I don't think it's very relevant anymore with the impending kernel source release. But if you have questions, read through this thread and post if the question hasn't already been asked. DO NOT POST IN THE DEV THREAD UNLESS YOU HAVE DEVELOPMENT RELATED INFO!!
UPDATE: The official ICS has launched for the SU660 (Korean O2x) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1860749
Kernel sources will be uploaded soon by LG, meaning we will have fully working ROMs, including CM10 for all variants, including the P990 and P999! The wait is finally over!
UPDATE UPDATE: SOURCES ARE OUT!! http://www.lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensource-detail.jsp?detailCustomerModelCode=LGSU660

Q: I'm a noob. How to flash?
A: If you're a noob you probably shouldn't be flashing this.
Q: Will this work on the P999 as is?
A: No, but it might be ported eventually
Q: What is the red border in the video?
A: This is because it is in engineering mode, this can be changed in the build.prop
Q: Is video recording working?
A: Yes
Q: Does google play work?
A: Yes, with this fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32593396&postcount=318
Q: So I see all these zip ROMs now, I can just go into my normal CWM and flash them like normal, right?
A: NO! You need to flash the special version of CWM compatible with this leak's partitioning. See next question...
Q: WHY DON'T I HAVE CLOCKWORK MOD FLASHABLE PERFECT ROM RIGHT NOW!!!!!!
A: Patience. The devs are working. In fact, wkpark just posted a working build of CWM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32590694&postcount=302
So fret not, we're getting there... My understanding of why it's not so simple is because the SD Card partitioning is different in these new ICS builds.
Q: Should I go into the Dev thread posting questions on "HELP I WANT TO FLASH THIS BUT HOW?" or posting "THANKS DEVS U GUYS ARE GREAT!!!!"
A: No. The dev thread is for developers to share ideas and the progress that they are making. Press the thanks button on the devs posts if you want to thank them.
Q: WHEN IS ICS OUT?????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
A: It will come when it comes.

For that wait for CM9/10(other roms), specific leak or official release.
This is a good idea, I was just expecting/hoping the devs to ignore all the non-development related posts anyway.

I'm sorry for asking this in here, despite being a Dev section.
In my case, i'm not wiling to install this ROM, too much processes to go through and unfortunately i don't have time to do it and i really need the phone fully operational.
My questions are:
Is there something in this Leak that solves the issues Devs are having in CM9 and CM10?
Can whe expect good results?
Is there any Dev working on this? (Benee, Pastime, Kashamalaga, TonyP, Temasek, Hei, MrHyde, Stephan)
If so, we could install CM9's and 10's with cmw, without too much RAM usage, Wi-fi working, bloatware removed and other bugs removed.
I'm asking this because just a few Devs gave opinions, (they have show happy) but what can it be used exactly?
Oh and about that fear a few guys are having with the possibility aremcee being upset with something, i don't see any....Devs in here are not using something like others have donne on Optimus Black Dev section. There isn't no nightlies for LG 2X to work on.
Nonetheless we must thank him and give credit to him for CM working on our LG2X.

If someone can give his opinion or answer i'll be apreciated.
first of all yes devs are working on it..till now the leak has been easily rooted sd card is now working by formating internal sd through adb and then mounting it manually.
HWA is there.
Face unlock works perfect, swipe lock screen is awesome
In my experience till now the call quality on baseband 0725 ril-v10d is poor.
overall audio quality isnt so good.
just had 1 hot reboot till now!!.
Above all is my personal experience till now (ALARM CLOCK DIDNT WAKE ME UP THIS MORNING ***** LG)
Maybe I'm missing something but wouldn't it be easier to take the latest SU660 leak and make it run on our p990 with the debug rom rather than patching all those issues with the debug rom?

The SU660 is more buggy because a lot of the stuff are not compatible with the P990. Apps that FCs include settings, contacts, phone, media. So in a way you need to do more work to port the v30c.
Hi all, is it possible to take drivers from p990 leak and put them on cm10?
Current status, (as far as i know), Benee is working on it, be patient
I'm reading in dev thread that Harsh succeded in setting up this rom with root, if he installed cwm too would it be possible to have a cwm backup of it without personal data so that we coould make a restore in our terminal?
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
What do you mean?
restore to have the V28 Rom,
or restore to have harsh`s fixes in an installed V28 rom too
first is impossible because there are other partition(sizes?),
second may work, but I don`t be sure
How do you use the su660 system.img on the p990 ics debug rom?
I'm asking for a possible quick and safe distribution through cwm.
About new partitions is it possible to create them using nvflash and then copy a cwm backup on ext sd?
Then, after cwm restore and the first boot we could make a system reset and start as new in multilingual.

Only partition layout using nvflash is possible, if someone changes nvflash files for it, but you won't be able to copy the cwm backup to the sdcard, because after using nvflash (in this case), there is nothing installed, no system no recovery, I guess

I don`t understand this step, why reset?
The cwm backup is made for a different language, after reset you can start a new setup choosing your language.
Edit: there is a thread by Owain94 in which he writes that you can change partitions on your active rom and restart with new ones.

sorry I can`t follow you,
you can change the language in system settings, or do you mean something else?

When you do a system reset you start with the rom you installed without any personal data and customization and you can choose your language, date, set wifi , etc.

Basebands Reviews

I made this thread so users who tested basebands to provide some useful reviews (battery backup, performance, bloatware, etc) for every user who want to know which baseband, new or old, has what he`s looking for or the baseband just came up and it`s new and he wants to know about it.
I tested MBM-XXLQI from Macedonia recently and all I have to say it brings nothing new about battery backup on the contrary it seems worse than DDULP8 from India or XXLQG-ITV from Italy, and in addition it has a lot more bloatware too.
I am going to test the new VSLPA from Argentina(moviestar) to see what it brings new as it has the latest build date and changelist, and I`ll provide a review in a day or two. You are free to do the same as we may have different opinions.
I am using VSLPA from Argentina from 1 day now and I have to say it provides the best battery backup till now, only 1% consumed over the night.
About performance, it`s pretty much like the other firmwares, tough i notice that lag is slightly reduced in this one or it may be placebo effect, don`t know yet.
Go try it yourself and report back to see if you have a different opinion from mine
I take my words back VSLPA is the best build by samsung for our device since they released Jb for us. I rooted, flashed cocore8.2, removed some bloats, instaled no-frills, set pegasusq+sio, powersave and I drained the battery till it shut down. After I let it charge full I powered it up and I couldnt believe my eyes how fast it was and still is, this build is LAG FREE, the dial pad opens in instant just like cyanogenmod. At first I tought that maybe it's just an one time event but not it still does that and is insanely fast, stable, smooth maybe then most of custom too (no offense to any dev). I know it is hard to believe but please try it for yourself and you'll be surprised.
I'll provide the list of bloats removed when I have time if it is of any use
Sry for the way I express myself but english is not my native language
Goodluck and don't think about it just flash it and see for yourself

Try clearing RAM and apps in background and then try to open dial pad. I it is in background it opens fast on any previous build.

I did. I tried it after a reboot too and I also it is ok with heaving gaming too. I tried asphalt 8 with interactive+sio and with powersaving and everything was smooth.
If you don't believe me give it a go and try it yourself

This is as if you were explaining you saw a ghost.
Are you sure about this? Cause I heard similar things for previous FWs before, even though they all lagged like hell.
And 7 hours ago you were saying the opposite, how's that possible? What exactly fixed it, when it was the same when you first tried it?
Anyways I'm on GB now, got burned once and now I want to be sure if it's really lag free before I upgrade.
in sammobile, some of the firmwares are made for some particular carriers. Is it safe to flash that carrier basrd firmwires??

If your device is network free(meaning that another carrier sym is working) you can flash any firmware you want for our device with odin. Juat download it from samsung-updates, unrar it, put the tar file in pda section of odin and hi start.

Upgrading isn't hard. Downgrading is a pain in the ass.

First of all GB and JB are different in every aspect so you can`t compare one to the other. First time it was just after I flashed it then I did all the things I said ( root, flash cocore kernel, changed governors and I/O etc. ) and after that i used it till it shut down and then while it was turned off I let it full charge, after that i booted into recovery wiped cache and dalvik cache and reboot and that was all.
But you should never expect that JB to be like GB.
If you don`t like stock i suggest you to upgrade from gb to jb then flash CM 10.1 from Team Canjica or if you want stock based Roms try Harshjelly or SamiOS.
Before you do all the things read some guide about how to flash with odin, how to root jb shaan`s guide and some more if needed.
If you do some research before you should not have problems
Goodluck

Why would you want to downgrade? First read guide about Odin and then go and read Harshjelly thread first then flash his rom and from there on should be easier to learn about governors,I/O schedulers, kernel etc. After you think you have a good knowledge base and you`re still not happy with you`re android you can move on to CyanogenMod 10.1 of Team Canjica(19.10 nightly is the most stable version).

Thanks, but been there, done that. All I'm saying is that I doubt it's lag free, I did try various firmwares, kernels and stuff but 5 sec delay when opening apps and lag in games, videos, UI is so bad that it's unbearable. That's why I had to downgrade, which is a much complicated process which frankly I don't want to repeat. That's why I want to make sure the new firmware is lag and delay free before I upgrade again.
And I'm pretty sure JB isn't supposed to be that bad, despite the fact that S Advance isn't much of a phone.

In cyanogenmod you wont encounter any kind of lag. So you can flash VSLPA via odin then flash cwm temporary make a backup then root it play with it a day or two and see how it goes and if you dont like it restore from backup then flash cyanogendmod 10.1 and i guarantee that you wont encounter any kind of lag there.
And btw id you want to thank me for any help just hit Thanks button and I`ll know
