Hello,
Q) Is there anyone who is using ICS on the galaxy note that is using PDroid successfully?
I know that this is mainly gb roms at the moment but i see some people have managed to port it onto android 4.0
Now im interested is people can/have ported it to the note handset
What mod are you using?
What rom are you using?
Is this possible for stock rooted ics roms?
Very interested to switch over to pdroid from LBE Privacy and would appreciate any help,
Thanks in advance
PDroid
Or can someone point me to a "Note Compatible" gingerbread rom with a suitable PDroid patch, thanks
srsly
Ahh this is ridiculus. I am searching since days for a solution. And I can't get pdroid running on my note. So I too would love to hear an answer to this question.

Is it possible to have two diferent Firmwares installed? I have ICS RC 4.2 installed on my device but I wanted to try S.U.R.F.A.C.E Firmware. I guess it's not possible but I guess it's ok to ask since I didnt find any answer here or on Google.
Thanks in advance!
I don't think it is possible. but i would wait for more experience people to tell you otherwise.
That is not possible,
There is a difference between firmware and a rom like surface or ICS RC4.2.
Firmware is stock rom that is usually brought by samsung of so. a rom like surface is a rom that has a base of a stock rom and is modified and rebuild by a developer.
ICS is stock software for other phones that will not be brought to the SGS, so developers like CM and Onecosmic have been working hard to bring it on our SGS.
But when you're one RC4.2 and wanna go to Surface you switch from the one rom to the other.
Not possible.
It's Possible to change from ICS-rom to ICS-rom and from stock to stock via cwm-backup, but the base must be the same, like gingerbread to gingerbread, not gingerbread to froyo ...

Thank you guys!
Hey guys I apologize if this post doesn't belong here, but please bear with me I am still a "newb" in the smartphone world. I recently managed ( using some online tutorials) to install a rooted version of android 2.3.6 on my SGS. For the first 3 weeks everything worked like a charm, my phone was smooth and everything, I was really satisfied with it. But lately it has been running really badly, it lags a lot, it takes a lot longer to load stuff, etc. I beg you guys to help me do something with it. I would really like to install a new firmware that allows me to overlock the processor and stuff like that ( like CyanogenMod), so can you guys please point in the direction of a good tutorial that even a moron like me can follow. I'm having a lot of trouble understanding what kernels I can use and what exactly the CyanogemMod Nightlys are or how I can install new firmware using Rom Manager or CWM. Thank you guys in advance and once again sorry if the post is in the wrong place.
rom
I had same problem with 2.3.5 .
I installed a few days ICS 4.0.4. from dark knight and it work nice
You can try it
Go for ICS
Hi,
I am on [ROM][ICS][I9000] Team ICSSGS RC4.2 for a few weeks now. It's blazing fast and stable. I was hesitating at first, but did it anyway and now i'm very happy with it. I also flashed the Semaphore kernel.
All is explainened in detail in their threads.
Hi,
since more then two weeks I'm using ICSSGS RC 4.2 with the semaphore kernel and I'm very happy with this rom. It's fast and doesn't lag at all.
With this kernel you can overclock the cpu by using the semaphore tool (is installes automatically when flashing the semaphore kernel in cwm.
You will find a threat how to install this rom, if you have some more question somebody will help you.

Hi,
My wife has Jetpack V9 (XXJVU) ROM on her Galaxy S (I9000) and the performance of the ROM is awful. Very slow most of the time.
In fact, I would like to try an ICS rom on the phone but she uses Samsung's native 3G video call feature which is not available in Android by default. So she needs a rom with Samsung framework.
It has been some time since I checked the ROMS for Galaxy S. Is there any development on this subject ?
I mean, do we have any ICS rom with 3G video call support ?=
If not, would anyone recommend me to use another "value pack" GingerBread rom ? like this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626068&highlight=value+pack&page=31
Thanks.
I would really appreciate if anyone could comment on this...
I think that any rom has it... Because Samsung framework for SGS it's not released by Samsung to be Open Source, so in a CM(7/9) or MIUI are very difficult to find it.
But you could try any latest Samsung modified rom (JW6).
I hope it helps you!
Thanks but what do you mean by Samsung modified rom ?
is it ICS ?
can you give me an example of JW6 rom ?
Samsung modified rom means custom stock rom. There's not Samsung ICS stock rom for our mobile, just a pack with ICS features.
JW6 example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608790
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689513
You also could try with JW5:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626068
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1656081
Remember that JW6 or JW5 or JW4 don't mean ICS but Gingerbread with ICS features.
There's a lot of custom roms based on Samsung stock. I don't know everyone, these are examples I found.
Don't even try to find any ics rom video call feature ,ics not support video calling try to use skype or fring or use gingerbread value pakcs they are also good (xxjw4)

GB value pack for I9000 is real good. It has everything that's in a stock GB and some new features to spice it up.
But when i used it the WiFi took a long time to wake up from sleep, was really annoyed with that.
If you wanna use video chat i recommend going back to stock GB ROM and flash a nice kernel to speed things up, And try not to brick your phone.
Thank you AnMOS. That's more than enough.
That's the same reason I went back to JW6. I was loving slim ICS but the lack of native video calling compelled me to go back. Why would they not include that feature anyway? It has been existing for the past five years or so (I think).
Hello dear XDA fellows.
I know questions like these are not very popular but I am on very short time to research and experiment. Also, not familiar with Galaxy S i9000 rom scene at all.
I need a rom for this phone, which will be used by a complete newbie to android/smartphones/touchscreens, so I cant expect them to know anything about tweaks or launchers.
I need a rom that is stable, looks most stock/Touchwiz (and/or feature rich) and preferably ICS. Preferably a port of SGS2 ICS or even modified SGS GB builds are fine.
Phone is currently running some CM9 ics build and is rooted. Thank you all for your recommendations
If you want GB try stock jw8 + semaphore kernel.
You can find the latest stock roms in ramads thread. Search it in the general section. You can find there all the instructions on how to flash with odin.
Cheers,

Hi, currently i'm running ace on 2.3.6 version unrooted. I would like to add cyanogen mod to the device, which mod should version of cyanogen mod should I install ?
1. This should be in Q & A.
2. Impossible to tell. Do you want gingerbread as a base? Use CM7.
Want the newest android versions as a base. CM9 or CM10.

you are comming form stock rom... if you directly jump to cm9 or cm10 things could be difficult for you as both these are quite buggy... go for cm7.. these are fast , stable as well as a totally new experience for stock users..
you can try miracle and apocalyase... both are based on cm7 and are super fast and bugs free...
press thanks if i helped !!!
