[Q] ICS leak - unable to dial out with google voice - Motorola Droid 4

I've tried this on the .206 and .208 leaks, both of which won't use google voice to dial out. I've tripled checked, and google voice is set to "Use Google Voice to make all calls". I've tried uninstalling and re-installing (on both builds). Has anyone else experienced this? If so, has anyone found a fix?
Also - I've tried "Ask every time I make a call", this also fails to work (though I only tried this in .208).

Works for me (I'm on .206). I have it set to "Only use Google Voice for international calls" though, not sure if that makes a difference.

Unfortunately that did not work for me. I've now tried "use Google Voice to make all calls", "Only use Google voice for international calls" and "Ask every time I make a call" - none of these result in using Google Voice for a call (local, domestic, - I haven't tried ILD, as I don't want to incur a charge).
The only thing that appears to work is "Don't use google voice for any calls", though I am beginning to suspect this is due to a bug, not design.

OK, did a little more testing - and stumbled across something looks like only 7 digit dialing is affected. 10 digit dialing does indeed use google voice. Frankly, I'm not sure if this was the case in stock GB or not - with out a way to roll back, I can't test.

I thought gv only did international calls, at least within the USA.

Thank you! Google Voice worked great on my Galaxy S2 with GB and ICS, but I'm not able to place out going calls with my Galaxy S3. I tried your advice of using 10 digit dialing and it appears to be working!

I have used it on .206 a few times and it works, it just doesn't show the "calling with google voice" dialog. I checked my minutes usage and no international minutes show up, just night/weekend or anytime minutes. If it wasn't working, there would be international minutes on my bill/vzw usage app.

To avoid this you can just call up VZW Support and remove international dialing from your account. That way if it somehow doesn't use GV to dial internationally in the future, you'll just get the "you must enable international dialing blah blah" message, instead of crazy charges on your bill

Remove wait time?

You know when you hold down the search magnifying glass, and the voice search thingy pops up. Then you are allowed to say "navigate to", or "call whomever".. then, sadly, a little bubble comes up delaying what you wanted to do.
Well, to me, this is rather annoying - and so I wish for it for be gone. I have seen a thread similar like this comparing the feature to what the iPhone does (it doesn't delay anything) and I kinda want that for myself.. as I said before.
Personally, I think this is a stupid questions; as I don't really see how it can be done - I was thinking, though, someone had some way to delude the delay :/
Are you talking about the pop-up box that displays that the N1 is processing your request?
If so, then I don't think there's much that can be done as the way Google has implemeted voice recognition on the N1, it sends all voice input to a Google server to process, and then provides you with the results.
Unless there is an app or either Cyanogen or Modoco integrate offline voice recognition into the ROM, you're stuck with Google's implementation.

Do you want to remove the "processing" time, or remove the time between you putting your finger on the button and Voice Search coming up?

A) It's part of the Google Voice Search app, and you can't modify Google apps because they're closed source.
B) That box pops up so that you can see if what the app understood is what you really wanted to say. Without the pop up, it would just auto-search for whatever it understood, which might frequently be wrong. It'd basically be like clicking "I'm feeling lucky" every time.
C) When you click accept ("Go"), your voice data and the accepted search term gets sent to Google. When you hit cancel, your voice data and the declined search term gets sent to Google. In this way, they use the voice data and the incorrect / correct matches to refine their voice search. Bypassing this screen would give them no data whether the voice input transcription was correct or not.

[Q] Can I use Skype on 3 in unofficial ROM

Hi, I am in the UK and with 3. My galaxy S came with the Skype on 3 and it can call phone numbers for free. (You still need Skype credits.) I think the way it works is it actually dials a 3's service number and then you get redirect to the phone number you want to call.
My question is:
1) If I flash to other ROM, can still use Skype on 3 for free? I make a lot of international calls by Skype...
2) Can I flash back to 3's official ROM?
Cheers.
there is no skype for android yet
at least not officially
the next best thing like skype + video VoiceIP is Fring

I hate you so much right now
Does it have video call?
I tried fring and even the voice was a disaster...
voiceIP only it seems
also it FORCES YOU TO TURN OFF WIFI so that you can only use GPRS/EDGE/3G to use skype
so that was the deal, so that you can't get away of their data plans
IMO it's useless if you can't use it on WiFi
i'm going back to Fring for Video to Video chats
Is there any trick to use video chat (besides fring) on yahoo/gmail/skype with a PC?

Same for me in South Africa on 3G
it'll only work if you are using the "3 network" from UK
you can install and run it, but it wont let you connect to make a call
I cannot transfer the application to my phone, it says that the file format cannot be transferred, is there any other software I have to upload to my PC before downloading the application? I'm on 3 Ireland and they haven't release skype for this phone here yet. Also Phone is on vodafone but unlocked, therefore I do not have 3 Ireland d=software installed yet
Thanks
you need another browser, like SkyFire for example
Hi guys, I've one question for who is using skype on three..Did you notice delays when someone is texting you? i mean, i get like 30 50 minutes delay on each text...is that normal?

There you go. That's the reason. there have been plenty of threads about the fact that you cant change your VZ account with a sim in a non recognized VZ device.

Beats me, perhaps you need to Call VZ on this, you may try the following on the N6, but if not seen as a VZ device it may not work:
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/03/1...e-and-data-now-works-on-nexus-6-with-verizon/
you should also be on 5.1 first before trying, as it isn't supported on the N6 without it, which could also generate the message.
just chatted and they will be sending me a new sim(current one was cut from gnex phone)
i shouldnt have any issues activating the sim right?

i reinstalled the good old reliable R1HDzenui.zip rom which has always worked well for me on the Blu R1 HD. i downloaded it from a link provided by "vampirefohttps://forum.xda-developers.com/r1-hd/development/custom-rom-r1hd-zen-ui-t3473593" on this forum. It generally works fine but I can't add a vpn. I am looking for a way of adding the built in vpn that comes with android marshmallow. I would like to use it with Linphone to make sip calls though an asterisk pbx to save my cell minutes. It seems that I was able to do this previously with this rom. Maybe it needs to reenabled. Reinstalled?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I just looked at vpn setting on v8.7 and when I click the + to add a connection I got a pop up message telling me that I need to set screen lock before I can add a vpn connection, so maybe you can try to set your lock screen first then try add vpn.

Nope. Thanks for the suggestion. I don't get the plus even after I do that.
When I press the 3 dots on the upper right., I get the option to select Always-on-VPN and a dialog box comes up that says Select VPN profile and .... with a radio button checked off with None as the option.

The spflash tool method worked up to v6.5
Then needed to use dirty-cow method from 6.6 - 7.4.2
After that have not been able to do anything with v8.1 and above
Is is possible to add the vpn after the fact as a patch to the kernel or as a system application when the phone is rooted like mine is? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From what I read in your post, you have created an 8.x (oreo)rom for this phone and installing that would solve the problem. The phone runs so well with 6.0 marshmallow, I'm hesitant to go through all the trouble of wiping it to upgrade it. It there a way of upgrading without doing a fresh install?

Call recorder app

Hi guys, hope everyone doing fine. I am looking for a Call recording app for my S20 FE 5G. I did try out some popular ones like ACR but unfortunately the voice on the other end is barely audible Anyone able to recommend a good app which records voice of both parties equally well?

Thank you! I just installed it. If you are already using it, can you please tell me which recording settings work best for capturing the other party voice (its very feeble, my own voice all good)?
so basically the three settings below:
a. Phone recording audio source- which option to keep?
b. Phone calls clarity improvement- do I keep it MAX?
c. Force in-communication mode- do I enable or disable?

a. mine is: voice recognition (software)
b. mine is right in the middle

@uicnren thanks for your response mate. The voice of the other party is still weak as opposed to mine
Starting with android 9, Google bans call recording in many countries.
So, If you are somewhere where GDPR rules then you have nothing to do, unless you root your phone...

Google cannot 'ban' anything, they are not a legal entity and/or goverment. They can and may remove or hide the feature.
This is a samsung rom, and that function has been in in all version of thier roms since v7.0. My S7 running 8.1 has it and my S20fe running 10 has it.
Lastly there are a bunch of call recording apps on google play and the net in general.

1. Sorry, I don't speak english very well! The point is, Google hide this feature and Samsung did the same thingin some countries.
2. The code is there in all ROMs but if you don't have the proper CSC you cannot activate it unless you root your phone and modify CSC features.
3. All that bunch of call recording apps on google play do nothig unless the ROM's kernel let them!
