[Q] problem with downgrading from ics to gb - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i downgraded my n7000 from stock ics to stock gb just for installing paranoid rom , but when i try to install cwm , root , rom file from recovary , it fails...
though gb is running asusual in normal mode , what shud i do now to have paranoid rom on it....

---->Flash stock GB ROM once again (download one from dr.ketan's guide---be sure to choose a DRIECTLY ROOTABLE one ! )
---->Root stock ROM by following dr.ketan's guide
---->Flash the paranoid ROM and the 'hybrid' Gapps after the Rom
---->WIPE DATA/ Factory Reset
---->Enjoy new ROM
Also, I'd advise against going back to stock ICS - too risky with the Hardbrick bug around

Where does it fail more exactly?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2

i had now installed a pre rooted rom , whn i go to recovery by vol up+home+powr and select file from apply update from sdcard the eroor is repeating
it says signature verification failed for the paranoid zip and and along with dat error msg failed to verify whole-file signature whn tryed to flash cwm...

what should i do now ??
can i install stock ics rom ??

Did you try this ?
Are you getting any error while following it ?
After rooting, try going to CWM recovery and Wipe data/factory reset and Wipe Dalvik Cache

Go to install zip from sdcard. I suppose you have cwm, right?

I presume by pre-rooted ROM,you flashed the KJ1 ROM by dr.Ketan ?
It had CWM,yes? Then WIPE DATA and WIPE DALVIK CACHE.After that, download the Paranoid ROM again and then try to flash it.Don't use apply update from sdcard, select install zip from sdcard and then choose zip from internal/external sdcard and browse and select the ROM zip file
---------- Post added at 10:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:45 PM ----------
The apply update from sdcard flashes any update.zip present in your sdcard, which isn't the case with the Paranoid Rom zip ( unless you have renamed it ?)

thanks bro , able to root and install cwm...
will try paranoid now....

thank u both wafareonly and alexdumitru
it all worked atlast by using ketans guide to cwm and root...
time 4 me to grab a beer...

[Q] Installing ROM

hey guys. How to install simplicity ROM? Im currently on stock JVP with Galaxian Kernal. Never done flashing Custom ROM before. Can anyone provide steps to install it?.
First flash semaphore 1.5 via odin.
Copy the Simplicity 0.32 - Wipe CWM3 to ur sd card. not into any folders!!!
Go to recovery mode (HOME+VOL UP+POWER) do a factory reset - IT WILL ERASE ALL THE DATA IN UR PHONE SO PLS DO BACK THEM UP.
After rebooting again go to CWM recovery and install the "rom" .zip file and u are done. Then u can upgrade to 3.3 via the same way.
Its all there in the rom's thread itself. Check it out
" If you are on Gingerbread (2.3). Install a kernel with ClockWordMod (most recent ones do so. Boot into recovery (CWM) and flash the latest wipe version of Simplicity.
If you are on a previous version of Simplicity. Flash the new update zip or the new full no wipe zip in recovery (CWM)."

[Q] CMW reboot into recovery doesn't work.

After allot of search work I still didn't find any solution for my problem.
(Goal is to flash my stock phone to Onecosmic's ICS 4.0.3)
PDA: I9000XWJVH
PHONE: I9000XXJVO
CSC: I9000XENJV4
What I did:
1. Root my phone with SuperOneClick.
2. Install Rom Manager.
3. Flash ClockworkMod Recovery and select my model.
4. Reboot into Recovery.
After this the phone reboots and ends up in normal recovery mode and starts installing the package? This is what I see.
-- Installing package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Can anybody tell me what am I doing wrong?
what i would've done, is to flash a simple CF-Root trough odin, wich allready contains CWM-recovery.
From there you will have to flash a mtd based rom, like cm7, then Onecosmics build
thats what i did ages ago, and i havent had any big problems afterwards.
Just search for Cf-Root at google and it should guide you to the right page.
its about as far as i can help you, as i never used oneclick-root apps, and had to manually flash CWM.
Thanks for your reply!! I will try that when I get home and post back my results.
*Edit:
It works! I have Onecosmic's ICS 4.0.3 running on my phone.
What I did:
1. Like you suggested rooted the phone again but now with with Odin and CF-Root-XW_NEE_JVH-v3.2-CWM3RFS.zip.
2. Placed the ROM and Kernel on my sd card.
3. Boot in recovery mode and did an wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition. (Didn't want to install CM7 so tried it like this first )
4. Selected aply update from sd card and selected ICS_4.0.3.0(RC2.11)_Galaxy-S_Full.
5. It flashed the rom but it didn't go back to CMW recovery and showed the boot animation (colored blocks) way to long.
6. Taken out the batterij and started again in CMW recovery with button combination.
7. This time I did wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache.
8. Selected aply update from sd card and selected ICS_4.0.3.0(RC2.11)_Galaxy-S_Full. This time it went back to CMW recovery.
9. Selected aply update from sd card and selected ICS_I9000_20120107_r3180v_update. Went back to CMW recovery again.
10. Selected reboot system now.
After waiting for like 8 minutes I got an working phone with ICS installed!
*Sorry for the "detailed" explanation but I hopefully help other "noobs" with this issue
Seems that I am not done because Onecosmic's ICS Port Android 4.0.3 RC3 is out!
oh year, RC3 is fantastic
Hi, the same problem i have with CWM, I rooted device with SuperOneClick as well so maybe you can say which file should I download my curent rom is BUJV9?

[Q] Note Root problems (After yellow triangle)

My note is 2.3.6 , N7000LA2, now kernel is XXKKA,
I am not an expert, so I rooted in a wrong way then causing yellow triangle, But i removed the triangle finally
Actually I want to flash andriod 4.0 / other ICS theme rom, what procedure I should do now??
1. Is my note not a correct kernel now??
(I feel that the battery consumed faster than before, & not as smooth as than before getting yellow triangle)
2. Can I use a regular way (using odin to root back the right kernel & flash rom)?
3. my cwm mgr is not working correctly, how should i do??
Please advise ..
Many Many many thanks!
Do you have root working now?
If yes, update CWM, you can get proper kernel from my thread 'How to Root'(c signature for link)
after that you can update to any ROM with CWM

Thank you so much!
My colleague's fd finally helped me flash a new kernel ([email protected]#3)
But I have some questions
1) which version is this kernel??
2) can i keep this kernel , then flash another 4.0 rom??
3) if i dont want to use odin (pc version) to flash, can i use mobile odin or cwm to flash?
what exact procedure i have to do?
please advise..
thanks !!!
this is abyssnote kernel, universal
you can use CWM to update 4.0 ROM, put file on SD card n boot in recovery.
select flash zip file, point to ROM file, confirm it by saying ye, done.
if get bootloop, wipe cache, wipe data (it will wipe off data so take backup b4 proceeding)
dr.ketan , really thanks for your prompt reply
but I am now in another bad situation..
I flashed something wrong & the note keep rebooting, & then now cannot get in the system , just stop at the N7000 welcome page,
But i can go to CWM recovery
get into recovery, wipe cache, wipe delvic cache
still not works wipe data (you will lose data) This is routine for 4.0 based ROM
And wat u mean by 'something wrong', you are not sure it was custom ROM file?
If nothing works then go to download mode n flash older Stock ROM with PC odin

Thanks dr.ketan!
But it is not 4.0 based rom yet, just a 2.3.6, official rom (before "broke" )
So, should i still follow your method to do??
or should i get into recovery, try to flash the stock rom N7000OZSLA2 ?
I think i flashed the wrong version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415567
Now I find I cant flash any rom by CWM....
"installation aborted"
Have u wipe data ? If not do it first thn flash stock rom using pc odin
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
thanks ketan!
I really didnt wipe data, but finally flash stock rom by pc odin
done by following your post , thats really useful!
I flash hk version LA2, but cant root
& then flash KJ1 Factoryfs, got the CWM
lastly I flash the abyssnote kernel
so is my SGN now contains a KJ1 rom?
can i flash back to LA2 without losing the root?
or is there any big differences between KJ1 & LA2??
& one more, I want to add the battery %, where can i find/search the suitable one for my SGN
Thanks!

Now you can flash to la2 with CWM n keep cf-root when ask
Or use mobile odin n enable everroot option in mobile odin n flash

Thank you so much ketan!
I got LA2 n keep the cf-root now!
One thing I want to ask :
Is any roms to flash can follow the below procedure?
or which situations cannot follow this procedure:
Thanks.
2. CWM recovery (you need Root + CWM on existing ROM. Get )
Download the ROM. Extract it.
Create folder /sdcard/external_sd/firmware (thats folder "firmware" (lowercase) on your external SD card) (see image)

This is for Stock ROM only
If you want to flash custom rom, u have to select flash zip option, not 'flash stock firmware' option

[Q] E : signature verification failed ClockWorkMod

Hello,
I am using Rooted ICS Stock with Stock Kernel and when i am trying to enter in to recovery mode with RomManager i am getting:
E : signature verification failed ClockWorkMod
is there any way to fix this without increasing flashing count or getting yellow triangle.
PS: I dont have CMW, i am using CMW.zip which is used in Rooting ICS
are you using the CWM app ?
Do you have CWM installed ?
Coz you cant boot into CWM recovery if you dont have it installed
i dont have CMW, i use CMW.zip which is used to root ICS
oh now i see, you are flashing the cwm.zip in stock recovery !!
If it fails, Its probably a bad download, It happens re download it and try again, then report back
it does not fails while i flash the CMW.zip but it fails when i try to backup my room with rommanager...
dont back up with rom manager, use the built in backup option in CWM
you mean
-going to stock recovery mode
-selecting CMW.zip
-and then using backup Rom option???
if you flashed cwm.zip and it flashed successfully then reboot
reboot back into recovery and you should be in CWM, Go to backup / Restore, Then select backup to internal sd card
Hello Sir
ok, but is there any option to use it with rommanager??? because cmw.zip is not safe
CWM is safe, its the stock ICS kernel that isnt,
The issue with the ICS kernel is the wipe data / factory reset option DO NOT USE IT and you will be fine,
You may prefer to flash a safe kernel, Something like speedmod, which is safe and will root your device and install cwm too !
just flash it in ODIN
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/69014495/speedmod-kernel-n7000-ics-k3-3-Odin.tar
will it increas flashing count or give yellow triangle???
it CAN do, but if it does dont worry, Just use Chainfire's triangle away app, its free on XDA and it takes 5 seconds to remove it
To use CWM for backup function you need to have permanent CWM, for that you need Cf root kernel.
I am stuck in recovery mode and trying to reboot a recovery rom from my sd card and i keep getting a e-failed verification siganture..can anybody help me?

Did u follow this ? Doesn't go past recovery nor download means? You can still access both mode? Worst comes to the worst just flash stock 4.1.2 Samsung Rom using Odin n follow the guide I attached.

Please tell me what rom were you on previousy before u had this problem. Can u boot to recovery? If you can, try flashing philz_touch_6.19.3-n7000.zip and reboot to recovery again. After that do all wipes: factory wipe reset n Yes I wanna flash a new rom superwiper. Then wipe dalvik cache. After that flash omnirom. If you still can't proceed, then I suggest you flash stock rom first to let your phone boot to system

Ok. So I'll assume u r back to "0". So things to do will be :
1. Root and install custom recovery on your phone. I ALWAYS use older phils recovery + kernel such as PhilZ-cwm6-XXLTA-ATL-5.15.0-signed (XXLTA is based on my stock rom BUILD number. Download according to yours) This will give you root (superuser) & recovery installed.
2. After flashing phils, reboot to recovery by using 3 button combo n do ALL wipes the best being wipe factory + I want to install new rom super wiper + dalvik cache.
3. Flash my previous post mentioned phils advanced recovery ( I Always use that vers. N NO error whatsoever) reboot to recovery again n flash your omnirom.
4. DONE
