[Q] USB Y Cable - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good afternoon friends! I have been trying to downgrade my SPL from 5.12 forever and I'm just about to give up. I've followed every instruction from every thread I have come across and I'm sure it's something wrong I'm doing. I have gold card and on my micro card and I've I believe that it is my y cable that's not up to par. It is recognizing the card and the phone but it's stuck in "enable USB host mode"! Does anyone have a custom y cable they'd like to sell? I purchased 3 different cables from Walmart, overstock, etc. and nothing is working. Im not handy enough myself to make one so the next option is to buy one. Please email me at [email protected] with any assistance. Thanks in advance.

Did you format SD to fat not fat 32? Worked everytime for me

This was an excellent step by step instruction and it seems easy but I am still stuck in Enter USB Host Mode. I have gold card, I have formatted the micro sd to Fat32, I've copied the SCHIMG.nbh file on the microSD and nothing. The phone just sits in Host mode? Any other suggestions? I am trying to downgrade from 5.12. Is there something I am doing wrong. My Y cable reads the usb card reader and the phone all fine but nothing is happening. I've plugged and unplugged a few times.

try using a flashdrive insted of a sdcard and make shure your y cable is exactly like the one i show in the tutorial and follow the tutorial exactly as explained.

[SOLVED] N1 Brick

Question...
Just upgraded my primary comp and i wanted to mount my Nexus one to try a new kernel.
I plugin the cable but all that happends is that it charges the found, i have no option to mount?
So i look under usb devices at my computer and finds out that it has a "Windows error code 43".
I try and connect it to another computer, its the same.
I just bought 2 new cables, same problem.
OS: Windows 7 64 bit
My Nexus is listed as "Unknown Device" with no option to install the x64 driver.
So my question is... did i brick my N1 so i'm not able to mount it anymore?
__________________________________________
Update:
I sent the device into HTC' repair center, my phone had a Unlocked Bootloader.
Received the phone back today, it had the bootloader locked again and when i turned it on "Update detected" then i got Android 2.2 FRF91 YAY!
Right click on unknown device and select update driver. Then select the appropriate driver either from the SDK or the Android website. It's been discussed multiple times. Search the stickies.
Also if you bricked your phone, you'd be freaking out alot more.
I did -.- I have installed this driver alot of times, and as i wrote, i already tried the x64 driver.
Windows tells me the best suitable driver is installed, which is Unknown device.
I even tried removing all usb drivers to let it search again, i tried adding the driver manually, also failed.
I tried the driver from the SDK and using search/google i was able to find a x64 usb driver, which also fails. Windows error code 43.

Believe me, i am freaked out :/
I have been developing a android app on my laptop for about 2-3 weeks now, and i wanted to mount my phone at my stationary pc.. Now i cannot mount it on either my laptop (with all the drivers installed) or on my stationary pc :/
Here you can see what it looks like
Note: It does not accept any of the drivers posted in the USB Driver topic

Nope... I just installed Windows 7 32-bit, the same issue.
All i get when i try the drivers are:
"Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.
Unknown device."
You may want to try a live thumbdrive with ubuntu 10. That worked for my 64bit system. Also you can boot your phone right?
Bricked generally means that you can not turn on your phone, thus turning it into a useless brick. From what I understand this only happens when you update the radio and remove the battery.
If you have changed your rom previously are you running the Desire rom?
I've been running the Cyanogenmod ROM while ive been developing my android apps.
I have been unable to mount it after i installed my new hardware. I should also say that my comp managed to destroy a USB-stick aswell.
Worked before upgrading comp, now it doesn't.
And yes, i am able to boot up the Nexus
If you can boot into your phone its not 'bricked'. Do you have SD card reader on your laptop or desktop, or another smart phone or device with an Micro SD card slot. If so I'd pop up the SD card and try to read it by itself. If that doesn't work I think its just the card not the phone. If it does then something screwy my have happened to your phone.

My computer also burned out my Cardreader, so that is not a option either.
However i was able to use the MicroSD reader in my laptop.
My SD card works just fine there.
Search for usbdeview, download it , run it and uninstall your htc usb drivers and then reinstall your X64 driver from the sdk. That should solve your problem.
I know this sounds stupid, but are you using a cable to extend the length of your usb? If so, unplug it.. i had the same problems, it was a stupid cable and i was freaking out.
Re: N1 Brick
No, not that either. Also tried formating the SD card, no luck.

It took me a few goes to get Windows to LOAD the correct Driver
Tried, didn't work aswell... However i do have another question for you guys:
My teacher got a HTC Desire, i asked him to try my MicroUSB (original) cable and see if he could mount with it, he couldn't either, only charging like it does on my Nexus.
So i decided to buy another original HTC MicroUSB cable but i had to wait for the shop to receive the cable from HTC.
Meanwhile i bought this cable and tried it with no luck aswell: http://www.av-cables.dk/computer_ka...a_microb/usba_han_microb_han_1_m_1888_da.html - This one didn't work either.
New question:
Does it require a original Nexus One (HTC) MicroSD cable to mount?
I mean, the cable must be broken somehow too since the Desire cant mount using it aswell.
The shop received the cable today and i should pick it up today.

This tells to me you did it wrong. Do not search for drivers, do not let let windows determine anything. Tell it you have disk, navigate to your drivers and install them. Give windows a choice and you'll never get anything done.

((oh and i mean for stock rom flashing, of course, not android..))

[Q] SGS I9000M not recognized by the computer

When I connected my phone to the computer this morning it did nothing..No device unknown, nothing on computer, zilch!!! I was like let me do a master reset and format the memory card. That did nothing too. I tried switiching out cables, switched out computers, but same thing, the phone is charging but does not show up on my computer. I have another SGS that is detected on both the computers with both cables so I ruled out the driver/cable issue. Kies does not recognize the phone either. I have not done anything to it. It has the factory Bell ROM with 2.3.3 with UGKG3 firmware. The phone makes calls but just cannot be detected by the computer making it completely useless as I cannot load anything on it (Music/pictures). I am out of warranty so sending it to Samsung is not possible. Do I have a fried board? What are my options. The phone is not rooted and has never seen any custom firmware. Any help is appreciated.
I had that problem after I rooted the Bell UGKG3 rom, but you're not rooted, so not really sure.
I just rebooted my computer and it was recognized again.
You've eliminated all the obvious issues with the other cables and phones.
As for loading music and pictures, if you have an external microSD card in the phone, you could take it out and load it with a USB reader for microSD cards.
If you can load and run Apps then likely the board is fine. Try cleaning the port with rubbing alcohol and a bit of q-tip on a pin. They can be very sensitive to dirt. Like in that you'll see nothing in the qtip but it works again...
Also check if it is recognized in odin separately as if it is OK there it may be a rom issue.

I'm sure you just haven't installed the proper drivers.
I have a bell phone too, but just made sure I installed them manually.

Black Rose: My phone is not rooted. Microsd card is the last thing I want to do as I wanted to root the phone and use the internal 16gb memory. WHen I install a microsd card and plug the phone in the computer it still doesnt show, so I am thinking it is the usb port on the phone

I know this is an old thread but is there any news on this particular problem. My SGS have the same problem (not recognized as a phone in xp) phone does boot up an can load apps etc. fine. I can go into download mode and recovery and phone does charge via the cable. I tried a different cable without luck. Even tried to reinstall drivers and ended up reinstalling my whole OS on my laptop. First win7 without luck and now I´m back on xp. Also tried a friends desktop computer but same problem....

Backup files needed for pre Mango

I don't have access to a Y cable or goldcard, I'm on bootloader 5.12 and on TMOUS. I've tried the Europe_401 method but no luck, I am not SIM unlocked, nor do I know how to do so.
I've seen a method that can get you back to pre-Mango using Zune restore, problem is that I just got this particular HD7 and am not on the same computer as I was in the past when I initially did the update on my previous HD7. Is there a way to get a copy of the backup needed to restore from Zune?
Thanks.

Look mate, the easy way is to make the y-cable, I did it with spare parts and converted my TMobile HD7 to a European HD7..., I tried everything, even the MS tool and all are trash, the Y-cable is the only option.
remember 1GB microSD card, the Y-Cable, and power (whether it's USB from a PC or the wall charger)
if you need more help, I'll gladly assist you.

I actually stripped down a USB hub and mated everything together following some tutorial here. I got power to my SD card reader and to the phone.
I was using a 32gb micro SD due to me not having another. I put the phone in USB host mode, connected USB, then the phone said Loading for like 15 minutes.
I removed the USB, tried again, but only kept reading USB host mode...the phone still works though.

Phone is dead n900w8

Hello
I was trying to flash the official android L on my note 3 n900w8. I believe I hard bricked the phone because the phone is unresponsive. It does not turn on at all. Does not charge. No signs of life! Only when I plug the phone into my pc, the pc recognizes it under the name QC BULK.
I researched a lot about this problem and I found the SD card method. Tried it, and still does not work.
There is another method where you open the phone and find a resistor located near the camera, but I can't seem to find that resistor.
I bought a ''jig'' piece hoping that it will boot the phone up, but still no response. DEAD!
The only solution left is to ''Jtag'' it, but before I pay 60-70 dollars, do you guys have any ideas/solutions??
please please help!!
Thanks!:highfive:

Make SD card unbrick. I'll show you later tonight! As long as it shows USB QHSUSB_BULK, we should be able to resurrect it.
Edit: Unbrick thread
Also, what carrier are you on?

I tried the method again, and still does not work. The weird thing is that when I insert the SD card into the phone, the computer does not recognize the phone, but when I remove the SD card, the computer recognizes it immediately. Another thing that is weird is that the computer now recognizes the phone as Qualcumm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3)
I uploaded some pictures in the attachments section.
Thanks

You should reformat SD to FAT32 filesystem, not exFAT. Format to FAT32, then write unbrick image, and try again.
