[Q] Install gingerdx v027 - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to install gingerdx on my x8. I want to use Alfs kernel but i don't know what kernel use? X8_08a-GDX-no_fps_cap_Alfs&Djnilse Or X8_08a-GDX_Alfs&Djnilse? Or ... ?
Thanks for help.

Read the Alfs thread.....
The one with the label (no fps cap) means that it has had the 60fps cap on the X8 disabled whereas the one without the "no fps cap" label still has the 60pfs cap.
I recommend the fps-capped version because it has better battery life, V-sync (which prevents screen tearing), and relatively constant animation speeds. Less bugs have also been reported with the fps-capped version.

Thanks so much. (I don't read careful on Alfs's thread. ..)

[Q] gingerxperia

please tell me what the feature of this ROM
Its a modified version of of minicm7 featuring GB 2.3.5. I havent personally tried it but many say that it is faster than GingerDX's ROM with more memory available. Also it is said that all features work (even camera full 3MP).
You can find more information at this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1237930
My personal question is: GingerDX vs GingerXperia ....... who wins?
hmm i think gingerDX because the GingerDX can use multiple module, i mean can use UV and UC module...
but in game mode GingerDX have a lag in my device.. but GingerCruzt and GingerXperia doesn't..
(sorry for my bad english)
i had GDX since version 007 and i followed that ROM until v13. Today i installed GingerXperia.
Although i do prefer GingerDX more i have to admit that with GingerXperia (with some tweaking) my free memory can reach 80MB while i couldnt free more than 50 with GingerDX. Also GingerXperia is faster in every day use....
But...for some strange reason....i will stick with GDX....
Hha you're right men... in gingerdx just 30-40mb max ram...
Btw are you use overclock module?
I'm using overclock 320-787mhz, vm heap size 32mb, and sd card cache 4096.....
how about you?
how about the compability?
many bug?i hear that v6 has a problem when receiving phone call.
in DX i dont use any overclock. in gingerxperia i use overclock 710, nothing else.
Both Roms are working without any serious bugs, i use GO launcher

[Q] Ginger DX or Ginger Xperia

As per the custom Roms for x8, GingerDX by Doixanh is good or GingerXperia by XperiaFan13??
Or any other best roms for 2.3.?
Sorry for my bad english
Well it's all up to you. I'm using GingerDX and I'm satisfied with it. Haven't used Gingerxperia though.
Yap, there are tons of "What ROM" threads around you can dig up and read through.
In general it's way better to test the ROMs you've taken interest in yourself. People have different expectations, so it's really a matter of "taste".
I always used doixanh's custom ROMs because he always created the most stable and feature complete ones - at least in my experience. That being said, keep in mind that no custom ROM is 100% perfect and that different ROMs can cause different problems with the one or another app.
If GingerDX and GingerXperia are the ROMs you fancy then simply grab a copy and use each one for a few days ... in the end you will see which one fits your usage.

I leave GDX for GXP. In my opinion Ginger DX become to much heavy for X8 and stock kernel. Ginger XP is lighter, faster and with a great look. Try it!

yes..my brother use GXP with stock kernel..but i like GDX
I would prefer gingerDX.

How do you mean heavy for x8. I have GingerDx on stock kernel. It works smooth and very fast. The only bug is in the QuickPic app..you cant scroll the first time you use the app.
Also I got awesome performance. And im overclocking on 710mhz and its very stable!
After using GingerDX for some months I came back to Shpit's XGin ROM (wich is being continued after some time). It's the fastest one, and it's very stable for overclocks. Plus, I was having some serious problems with phone stucking, sending large SMS messages and wi-FI bugs in GingerDX.
BTW, GingerDX is still a great ROM.

Yeh You're right mate. i also used the GingerDX from Doxinah. it's pretty good rom. but now i changed to ginger xperia because of the OC performance. Up to 820mhz that's truly awesome ... but i like GingerDX and Ginger Xperia.
Ginger DX is the first ROM that i installed in my W8, and its awesome with lots of features. However you will have to manually tweak for pinch to zoom and Timescape. Now i am using GingerXperia, its really awesome and fast, Pinch to Zoom and Timescape work too good.. Timescape is like just in Xperia mini pro. It looks beautiful. You can over clock your CPU which is an added feature in this ROM. I have put some pics of GingerXperia, hope it helps.
Yeah!! I also tried both of the Roms..and also I have W8...But I installed Ginger DX and also works smoothly..
GingerDX faster than gingerxperia on Alfv6 kernel but GingerXperia have more ram and more tweak(bravia engine, xloud...)
You'd make the chose
But i am not sure if my kernel is Alfv6 or not??how could I check that and if it is not how can i change it to Alfv6 kernel??Please help
And Also where can I get flashtool for my w8 so that I can Flash the files.(I read many posts and it was said that you need to flash the downloaded files by using flashtool).

If you unlock your bootloader and change the kernel you should be aware of what kernel you are installing before you do it.
Otherwise "Settings" -> "About phone" gives you info about you current rom and kernel.
Alf kernel thread is here btw.

Here is the X8 thread for Flashtool with a link to Flashtool's homepage. Unsure if Flashtool works on W8 since I have a X8. But since it officially support X10, X10mini (pro) and X8, i seems unlikely that it shouldn't.

To make one thing clear right away...
There is NO such thing as DEMANDING a bug fix.
Just in case you failed to notice it - we are NOT getting paid for developing ROMs or Kernels.
That being said...
Screen displacements usually happen on Alfs when you overclock.
Lower your overclock or revert to stock clock speeds.
The exact cause of the problem isn't really known yet - it could relate to the Adreno libs or to the Kernel.
The problem will be fixed at some time, but "I want this fixed" is the wrong approach of yours.
EDIT: And in the meantime you may want to try the fix suggested by djnilsje I posted in the GDX Bugs & Solutions thread:
Problem: Screen cuts on Alfs NO FPS CAP
Solution: Flash to an FPS capped version of Alfs instead
I have that flickering problem in minicm7 2.1.9 too
I think it happens when i overclock cpu @ 825mhz

Try not being so anally retentive and a little more understanding, and grasp the context of what others are trying to say, because this isn't an American or British community forum, but, an international forum, and not everyone is fluent in English.
The word 'want' in some languages DOESN'T translate to DEMAND, but WISH, or WOULD LIKE. Verstehen?
hehe

Yes, I have this bugs too. Additionaly, CWM is in 4 version - in GDXv28b was CWM 5 and it was better.
I have FC in all apps, so I can't use this ROM.

Edit: In 2nd version GDXv29 for Stock Rom works so much better, but Settings app is old.

no wifi on alfs8a
hi all.. i have alfs v8a, and ginger dx v28b, working great with an average antutu score of about 1940 when overclocked to 748.
i downloaded and installed ginger dx v29 and it is great, nice look, nice feel and all.
i got good signal, feels smooth, bluetooth is good and overall its great.
however, i have the same issues with most who are using this rom.
i did not notice the auto brightness if it is working, have not confirmed it yet for myself coz i only got the rom about an hour.
and the biggest issue is that wifi is not working. i dont know what i did wrong but i think i did evrythng ryt, i already flashed the libsensorspatch and still, wifi says error when turning it on.
i will attach a screenshot from my about phone so you guys can check if i have the right kernel for this.
as i saw this post from the dev section:

I have installed GDX v29 on stock kernel and i have no bugs except that when i have activated oc module it works aparently but decreases performance a little (i.e. without oc module v004 at 600 mhz antutu benchmark scores are 1656, but with oc module v004 at 748 1550-1640), this is a bug?
Sorry for my bad English

I have the same problem, and i think that the error is on /system/etc/init.d/10app2sd the script doesn't work on stock kernel.
Solution: I changed it to the 10app2sd GDX v28b version and now a2sd works correctly.

[Q][Discussion]best kernel+rom for gaming?

Hi
I'm currently using minicm7 & nAa-14-gb.
I totally get 4000 Antutu score (new version) 3d=2400 & 2d=~280
I also tried the following roms on the top of nAa kernel :
Gingerzaraki =only slightly less performance
xperiences= lags like ics
Ixperia=similar performance ((maybe a little faster but ios interface is not interesting))
-I'm wondering is there a better rom+kernel for best gaming performance?
-How much is your 3d-2d performance?
-Any tricks or mods to improve gaming?
Tnx

Ive tested froyopro rom v2.5 + alfs v09a no fps cap. Terrible bug with brightness (set at max and won't set to min)
Here are comparison between minicm7-2.2.1 {nAa14 kernel}& froyopro{alfs v09a}

I ran antutu benchmark v3.0.2 at first boot without any changes in rom.
FroyoProv2.5+fix patches)
(click for bigger image)
& minicm7:
As u can see in results, they are pretty like each other ...
*My experience in froyopro : super speedy menu scrolling, and switching between apps. But time for waking up from sleep is about 0.5~1.0 second which is very extreme for a new installed rom. *this is a froyo rom comes with android 2.2.9 ,it should perform faster than gingerbread roms but actually its not very different ...(+brightness bug which cause battery drain)
*my experience in minicm7 ,perfect for day to day use, without any serious bug or problems...
Nice performance & equals to froyo pro in 2d&3d and sometimes better.
Comes with android 2.3.7 which means a huge range of apps &games
my choice is minicm7, what's yous?
