[Q] Softkeys are mixed up - Huawei Ideos X6

I have been running a older Miui for quite some time, last night I finally decided to upgrade to .35 and try out ics and mokee. On both roms all of my soft keys are mixed up, My back button brings up the menu, the menu button is home, and the home button is back. The only key that is right is search.
Can anyone help me fix this?
Also on another note, I am noticing that all the roms I am trying on .35 are running decently warm, is this just how the .35 roms are or is this a problem on my end?
Thanks for all help in advance

What device are you using?
About overheating,,check your CPU clock and if you know dude,,,some ROM have different tweak,,and overheating main problem is on Signal,,especially in HSDPA / 3G
Check your data too,,maybe you activating instant upload/heavy syncronization i.e. contact restore/sync contact/etc
As prof.TJ_Style said(main developer kernel 2.6.35.7)kernel .35 still far from stable,,but the other developer was made it better than before
Edit : wrong touchkey because different device,,touchkey on mokee, joy os,and most ICS ROM specally for Spice-Mi410
But dont worry,,sergekarol was fix it,,please check on few thread,he has been posted it,,or maybe you can PM sergekarol for ask about touchkey patch
Sent from my Spice Mi-410 using Tapatalk 2

I was able to find the soft key patch which worked perfectly.
As for the heating, First my phone is the Ascend X 4g from Cincinnati Bell. On my old Miui rom I was running at 1520mhz, This one I am staying at 1024 just to be safe. I know that my data signal is part of it but it just feels like it runs hotter then the old miui. Though the new rom I am using does have alot more features and runs a ton smoother and faster even with my cpu lower.
To add: I am using the Ice Cold Sandwich rom from here.
My question is this what is a "start to worry" temp for this phone, It seems to want to hover around 33 to 35.5C sometimes maybe a tiny bit higher, These temps are only when using the phone, if I have the screen off it stays cold.
Thanks

Are you sure patch doesnt work?did you ask/PM sergekarol about this?
So sorry I cant give personally link,my connection sucks
Try search on IceColdSandwich thread,,there are some posts discussing about touchkey fix,or maybe you can ask question on there,,I have no idea if softkey patch doesnt work on you,,sorry mate
About overheating,,my device temps also hover arround 32-40 with heavy usage,,I feel it since I have this device mate,,I have been using old MIUI too(MIUI 1.11.11 by TJ_Style)for 3months and temps also around 30-40C
Ascend X 4G??Huawei Ascend X 4G?honestly I dont know if Huawei Ascend also Rebranding device FOXCONN FIH-FB0
Did you mean your device is Huawei Ideos X6??

I think you misread my post, The softkey patch worked first try. I was able to find it in the ice cold thread.
Good to hear the temp isnt anything to really worry about, I guess I just got used to the old Miui.
The ascend x is the american version of the X6 from what I understand

Oohh so sorry hahaha my bad,,just feel sleepy when reply your post,,
Thats great if patch works on you
You mean Old MIUI is MIUI 1.11.11 right?
Yes,,old MIUI given by prof TJ has stable,,but,,he take too much partition system RAM,because he want to make it stable
If I not wrong,,total RAM(has been partitioning) 298MB on old MIUI
Other ROMs have 340-358MB RAM
Because of that,,old MIUI stable with OC at 1536mhz max
Dont worry about your phone temp
On guide device book also written "max temp out until 47Celcius"
Just remeber this,if you feel phone overheating,,just check your data access usage, then CPU clock, last check your background/foreground service too
Sorry for my bad english

Yeah that was the miui I was using. I didn't know about the ram partitions on that rom being larger either. That explains a few things.
Thanks for the temp info to. Its nice to have a number to look out for.
By the way your English was just fine
Thanks again for the help

My O2X is back, so now choices

Hey all,
As I've posted occasionally on other messages, my O2X was a launch device which had BSOD problems. Had hoped that LG would fix with software but alas no so sent for repair and now have it back all flashed to stock.
Question is what now. I'm going on the basis that they've fixed it (lord knows I want to believe that!).
I had previously installed FR19 which I liked for near to sock google feel.
But I feel that I should use this chance to go to a GB rom.
Has their been a poll done recently on what ROM peeps are using and their recommendations?
Would love this or your guys opinions on what to use.
Thinking either modaco GR4, Cyn nightlies or Cyn 7.1.
I would love as stable as possible as use it as main phone.
What do you guys think?
Cheers
No issues on topogigi 1.9 apart from a spontaneous restore rebooting once.. fixed with a rom backup
Gr4 all the way
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
if you donĀ“t mind reflashing new versions quite often : CM (for me)
i like daily development ...
think I'm going to try 7.1.
But will first flash a new BB.
End of the day nothing to lose as it's stock at the moment and sadly didn't backup correctly before I sent it off.
What's the best way to backup apps and settings etc?
IMHO go for topogigi 1.9. It is stable enough for an everyday use, light and super fast (combined with the V6 SuperCharger and the HorsePower kernel).
But if you have to choose between "GR4, Cyn nightlies or Cyn 7.1", choose CyanogenMod. It is more stable than GR4. And BTW CM 7.1 is nothing more or less than a nightly version.
EDIT: Use Titanium Backup for backing up all your apps and system data, although I don't recommend backing up system data, especially when upgrading from froyo to gb.
(OFFTOPIC: I hate this five minutes waiting time when editing, it is sooo irritating...)

I agree, the best is titanium backup. For me because of the. Batch backup which I have set to run every Wednesday and Friday at 10pm just so it backs any new apps iv got and also I really like the market links as I haven't found another backup which does it (haven't looked that hard as I found TB quickly). You have to be rooted to be able to do this, just I case you were wondering.
Thanks all for the messages, will give horse kernel a go. but whats the difference between the 32bpp and the 24bpp downloads?
Also any recommendations on baseband to use? Was going to get the 725 GB one from modaco if that'll work?

The 32BPP version uses more resources than the 24BPP. You will also see a slight difference in vividness compared to the 24BPP. I recommend you to use the 24BPP, because I personally think it is enough for the O2X.
As for a baseband, I can't say for sure which one is the best, because some say it is 725, other say it is 622. I am using the 725 baseband and I am happy with it.
Dude, you're being a ledgend tonight thanks for the quick replies!
I'm now getting 725BB but cannot see a GB version so hopefully got the right one. Just seeing what other tweaks I want to make then I'll crack on.
Thanks again

All I can say from last night and this morning is....WOW
Installed topogigi 1.9, the SP, horsepower kernel, GB BB (725) and then the BGB theme.
Phone feels miles better than before.
Only thing I've noted is used Set DNS to speed up market but it gets granted super user every time from wake therefore slowing the startup.
Can live with a slightly slower market and therefore deleted it.
Cheers all
SetDNS grants superuser permissions every time from wake because your Wifi/3G is turned on at this moment. A way to get around this is to set Wifi sleep policy to never but this will drain your battery faster.
Has it SOD'd since the repair? Thinking of sending mine off but just don't want it to be a complete waste of time like I expect it will be
Haha I was same as you in terms of would it be worth sending it off.
Carphone warehouse inform me they replaced the main PCB and reflashed back to v10D on 405? BB (thats the only bit I could confirm they have defo done).
I've had it for 24 hours now, charged by mains twice, once on stock and once on topogigi 1.9 with HP kernel. No BSOD as yet. First time on stock was at work when I was almost guaranteed a BSOD, so fingers crossed.
It has got quite hot when I was downloading and installing apps last night, but no BSOD. Been hot a few times today as well but so far so good.
Will report back in a few days and let you know if it's still OK.

i used topogigi 1.9 with the "original" built in kernel (neoblaze), but i was not satisfied, due to some strange issues/bugs.
for the moment i would recommend you the following ROMs as really stable and having a good battery management:
- topogigi 1.7 SP1
- DJDroid 1.0 (i'm using that at the moment).
Well currently 1.9 with the HP kernel seems cracking to me thus far.
Only thing for me is waking up seems slow. Changed the lock screen to ripplelock free and its a bit better. But once you're in whips around good and proper. No lag between screens or downloading / installing from market. Much happier than stock and have to say better than FR19 which I used before sending for repair.

You can fix the slow waking up, just read the ROM FAQ by Topogigi Question 6. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18146527&postcount=2126
Aha!!!
But which one do I change and to what (as in higher or lower value)) to speed up the wake function?
Sorry, noob like question but sort this and I love the rom thus far!!!

Samsung rom's will always stay laggy unless they change the filesystem. Cyanogenmod is by far one of the smoothest rom i've tried on my Sammy (not that i've tried em all).
An other option would be to lagfix your phone, there are numerous threads that explains how to do that (I dont have time to search for it at the moment).
yes, CM7 is hell of a good rom. i rarely see lag on my phone, i mean, i dont see at all,.. the only problem is, when i change the background of SMS/Messaging pin code, sometimes it enlarges the background, and any live wallpaper won't work there, but STILL GREAT. and i occasionally see lag in other Samsung based roms out there, 2.3.4 / 2.3.5
Try flashing a kernel that incorporates lagfix. Semaphore, speedmod or Dark Core work really well and it's dead easy to install them. Then, convert your filesystem to ext4.
After that, try applying these tweaks, they work wonders on our phone's memory management and speed things up quite nicely:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15948434&postcount=1127
You just need busybox 1.18.2 (read the first post in that thread for a link and more instructions)
cm7 my friend , thats all you need , try it and u will not remember the word "lag"

Custom roms always have higher quadrant scores but they are always laggy. If you want a smooth experience, just flash one of the final builds of Froyo 2.2.1. ZSJPK was the second latest 2.2.1 build and I find it to be the best. It's virtually lag-free.
Try CM7 really good rom, or MIUI rom good one as well and lag free.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
cm7 and miui are, like mentioned, lag-free. But they drain battery faster than stock or stock-based ROMs (at least in my experience). It's a trade-off but it could be worth trying them out.
cm7 is basically "The Way Google Envisioned Android" as in, there's no branding or manufacturer's crap on the phone.
MIUI is what I like to call "So You Got An Android But Like iPhone's Looks Better". I tried it and it was too iPhoney to me. But you might like it.
+1 to CyanogenMod 7.1 stable (CM7.1) - google it for their website, you can't really miss it.
No lags at all. And according to my experience, my battery gets drained as fast as with any other rom (i've tried several stock and custom 2.2 and 2.3.x).
I am staying clear of nightlies however. Stable works great for me, no point screwing up with that.
i know CM7 is good rom and lagfree....because the rom size is only 95mb...but i like few things in samsung...like slide right to call and slide left to msg and few little feature.... we are sooo ****ed up with this great hardware but stupid firmware!!!....**** YOU SAMSUNG

Issues wid Miui 2.2.3. Need help

Hi
I am presently using Miui 2.2.3 by CacingKalung and i feel that the touch screen is kinda laggy. Many a times the touch does not react immediately and also the market force closes when i try to open few apps. Has any one else been facing this issue?
And secondly what does a kernel mean? I am really sorry if its a stupid question but i see so many discussing abt the different kernels and its uses but i just cant understand how it helps the phone. I have been following the development section for quite some time but i am still not allowed to post anything there as my number of posts are less than required. I feel its really a shame that i still cant post anything in the dev section though i have been logging in almost every day for the last 3 months now.its kinda frustrating too. so that's the reason i am posting my query here. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Shri
Kernel .....
As far as I know ..... , and correct me if i m wrong .....
Kernel is a interface which sits between your operating system and hardware (CPU,Memory etc.). So, here gigerbread,miui,CM7,ICS these all are OSs and kernel translates commands from OS to hardware and vice verse.....
Different kernels have different translating ability, so some can translate faster with your screen responses others cant, some can support two way call, better HD graphics, while some are bit slower ....

Should give time to settled right after boot.
Feels no big different for each kernel. But if you try other than sdkernel or mock kernel, your wifi won't work on this 2.2.3.

Thanks for the reply CacingKalung. Could you please do something about the touh sensitivity and the in call volume issue? The touch especially is kinda laggy. I am now using MIUI 2.3.7 hooney comb them based ROM by elol. The touch works perfect in this ROM and also there is no call volume issue so far but some apps force close like Fring and power amp which are very important for me. so want to switch to some other stable ROM. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

ok i re-installed the ROM and now the touch screen seems to be working fine. But i forgot to mention the main issue i am facing. The audio quality seems to have gone down. The sound is feeble now. some times accidentally it becomes louder which is actually the normal output but otherwise its feeble all the time. CacingKalung can you please do something about this? i am writing all this only because of all the ROMs i have used i liked this one the most i shoud say CacingKalung has done a wonderful job !!! and i really want to stick on to this for some time until we get a stable and fully working ICS. Hopefully there is a solution for this. Thanks in advance for any help and keep up the woderful work.
EDIT : The sound now is fine looks to me like a hardware issue but i can confirm that its not because of this ROM... so looks like all my issues are resolved
Cheers,
Shri
Nice... you can solved your problem by your self...!

Should I stay (with ICS) or should I go (back to gingerbread)?

I'm currently running ICS 4.0.4 on nAa-ics-03. I've tried a couple of ROMs, currently got IscreamDX. but I'm really frustrated with it.
Getting loads of lags. Apps randomly shutting down. Slow response times. It will randomly just freeze for several minutes with a black screen - no led response, nothing sometimes i'll do this when I'm running an app (camera, a game, facebook anything really) sometimes it will be in this state when I get it out of my pocket. Then it'll just start working again.
I've seen that nAa ics-04 is out. Will that make a difference or is there a ROM that is stable?
Or should I just admit that the X8 just doesn't have the hardware to run ICS and go back to an older version of android?
there is no absolute opinion.
try it yourself!
try ics-04 kernel and see if there is difeerence, and if this difference is enough for you
try some gingerbread roms and decide what suits you better!
its up to you
 Dude we don't post such questions in XDA
But anyways it's your and your decision only to decide.
How can we tell that on which rom or version you should be ?
You can stay on ICS if you like the UI
If you want performance you can go back to GB

Why I thought I'd get a sensible answer here I don't know.
I can ask this question because 1)someone might have already tried nAa ics 04 and seen it still uscks or it is much better
2)someone might have found a ROM that doesn't freeze all the time
3)saying I can't ask a question is a fascist answer

3)saying I can't ask a question is a fascist answer

I didn't said that you can't ask questions !
See if you want a GB rom with good performance you can try the following
GingerZaraki with alfs8 GingerZaraki= Lightweight
Gingerdx with alfs8 Gingerdx=Full of features
Use MiniCM9 if you want ICS..
Actually I forgot how GB feels because I'm using MiniCM9 with naa ics4 for the past 1 and a half months. With minimum apps installed. (Only BMX boy, DoodleJump)
Don't use facebook or maps. They are great ram eaters !
yeah!
if you don't want some laggy just go back on GB!
try and choose some GB ROM in XDA
respect our DEV dude!
remember if our phone (X8) has a low memory..
so ICS ROM like MiniCM9 has a great job to make an ICS ROM for our poor phone!
try and keep trying dude!
This thread is like :
Should i buy Cola or Pepsi ?
But no one cares what juice i buy...
I mean,personally i adore ics,but videos are slow,youtube doesnt work,cant watch videos over skyfire.
Gb has less bugs, but i think will go for ics.
It depends on whether you are willing to sacrifice performance of GB over beautiful look of ICS. I reverted because I couldn't bear the decrease in responsiveness and speed and I use over 60 apps and that's unthinkable on ICS for X8. As a matter of fact, ICS is really a brilliant display of what great developers can achieve and not a daily-use system for our weak X8. The new Xperia Tipo is quite similar to X8 in price and has better HW and stock ICS

Well, that's a few stages over X8, as well as the new Tipo.
The twit who revived this 2 month old thread is just as big of a twit as the OP
gingerbread have a long time battery
ICS design beautiful :fingers-crossed:
i had the same problem...i didn't know what to choose but after some time i made my mind!!I think the best solution is to go back to GB and try to customize your phone with icons, themes, launchers etc!!!!that way you will not be bored with with the GB look and you will have a good-performance phone...To get fresh ideas for customization in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1414004

Incredible S slow with Android 4/ICS

Hi!
I recently updated my IS to the newest Android 4 and god, it's slow. There is lag everywhere, I click on a icon and it takes like a second for screen to appear. The previous version was much smoother.
I disabled the animations and it seems to helped a bit, is there anything else I can do? Or just revert to the older version?
Anybody else experiencing the same problem?
Thanks

Thats a known problem with stock ICS
If you flash a custom rom, generally they are faster
for example I had Ice Cold for a few months, rock solid and super fast
I bought my incredible more than one year ago and I've never thought to unlock and go with custom rom until i got the last OTA. I was so disappointed i flashed Nik's project x almost the same day. You should really consider trying a custom rom. If you like stock appearance you could try android revolution HD i bet it will perform way better than stock ics

Thanks for your confirmations!
I'll try a custom ROM then.
As for the appearance I use a custom homepage anyway.
After using CM7 for a while, which was great, I upgraded to IceCold 8.1.1. I found it slow and laggy. Then I updated to Official Stock ICS. Same. I updated the radio to the '11' version. Still the same. Now I am using Ice Cold 8.3. Still the same. I did full wipe, and restored apps with Titanium.
I am very frustrated. I want ICS, but I am thinking of going back to CM7.2. I should be happy with IceCold, but I'm not. Slow, laggy, and lots of 'not responding' messages. Facebook app is the worst - almost unusable.
Any ideas anyone? I have:
IceColdSandwich 8.3 Rossi
4EXT Recovery
Blackrose 2.02 S-OFF
Ice cold is not laggy for me at all
How long have you let the ROM settle before deeming it laggy?
What clock speed for CPU? And maybe try go to recovery and clear both cache an dalvik cache, and make sure to do that after every rom flash if you don't already
Just that most of us are having a smooth nearly flawless ICS experience, hard to think only you are having problems

@jcr67: It's funny how mine is the other way round. I mean I didn't use the stock ROM (or whatever it is called) and installed CM 7.2 as soon as I got my phone because I didn't like the stock UI at all and I had seen CM 7.2 running on DHD with my cousin so I was kinda impressed. I kept using it until I visited my cousin and comparing both the phones (play store, I had a topic on that) was just awful. My play store searching, loading, agreement would take ages. I had been trying lots of ROMs until I came across Ice cream sandwich ROMs and the speeds were great (Virtuous Vivo) but it was the stock UI again which got me bored. I, yesterday, came across a topic by Nathan about Incredible S ROMs and battery life and after reading each and every post, I knew IceColdSandwich is my next ROM or I am selling this ****. Then and now, this is the best ROM I tried till now. No lag, great UI (after theme installation that was in the topic itself, it's become even greater). The only problem I am having is with my battery life. I had this on other ROMs too. So all I can say is that I am more than just satisfied with this ROM.
Try reinstalling the ROM by after running the SuperWipe script (inside the Android Revolution HD ROM topic.)
Sorry for the long post.

Ignore my earlier comments, re IceCold.
I always clear dalvik, wipe etc, when installing. But I repeated this anyway, just to make sure. I let it settle down. It got better. And better. And now I have V6 supercharged it.
It's pretty great now.
Except for the battery life. I'm getting not much more than half a day, without doing much.
Usually I ensure that the following are disabled unless I really want them:
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- GPS
- Vibration (keyboard)
- keyboard tones
- USB debugging
Optional: Automatic brightness turned off and set brightness to comfortable level
If you are overclocking it try to use it at usual clock speed. Overclocking consumes more battery.

I started to use custom ROM after upgrade to ICS. Laggy, even.the apps & notification drawer also laggy.
for me the latest ota ics upgrade is quite good, just sometimes i can feel that things just dun get smooth enough, made my mind and tried few custom roms. Most of them are just really gud in term of performances and looks. Now im gud to go with ice cold rom, much better than official rom of course, and on the battery issue, just make sure u turn off anything u dun need when u dun need them
I find ARHD 3.0.1 with V6 Supercharger script properly installed (no KickAssKernelizer cos I want to wait for a custom kernel) and ultrasmooth rosie.apk to be a fairly smooth running experience.
Tip:
I've improved battery life and reduced common running temperature and hence increased performance/stability/speed by simply running GSM only instead of GSM/HSPA unless I'm in a good signal zone and want to browse data quickly. (I'm talking 2G/3G switching in the mobile network settings.. may not be labelled gsm/hspa in some ROMs). This is a good bet, especially when indoors. I live in a basement so signal drops are more steep for the higher frequency 3G signal.
This should be true for any ROM. Anywhere your data browsing is slow to heart-rendingly unusable.. should definitely save battery, reduce temp, and improve text and call reception to switch to GSM only!

OK, I have a simple question: Is any ICS custom ROM as fast as the Gingerbread stock ROM? OR do I need to find a way do downgrade to Gingerbread? Which will be a pain in the bottom parts...

I find project X to be really quick and doesn't seem to struggle with multiple apps running I.e spotify, Facebook and chrome.
Easy to flash too!
We Want ICS
For 'We Want CS' I still can see lag when open apps drawer & pull down notification. Anyway, its still better than OTA update.
