Hello there.
Im always seeming to find my RAM Always at 170 - 210 when its a 279MB Ram.
So is there a way to make i stop going that high? cus like it seems to eat my battery.
Yes no apps are running its just the system files that need to be running.

When you exit applications use the back button. You can use a task killer but it may cuz you problems.

Reboot phone, rebooting FCs all apks,so its just a temporary solution.Clearing ram is also recommended

Don't worry about it? Empty RAM is wasted RAM, why do you to power silicon that holds no data? The phone manages memory better than you can...

I would need to worry about it if its draning my battery?
And how exactly is it draining your battery? Any Evidence? CPU is normally used by running applications...

Android is best known for task managing so no need to worry about it.System apks, live wallpapers all need ram.And no ram doesnt eats battery but cpu does

Don't use a task killer, it closes apps that ran in backroundand need to run in backgroungd in order for the phone to ran the rom normally.the best task killer out there is the ics task manager and samsungs task manager

Having empty space of ram helps the battery to stabilize and helps opened applications run faster.

Well sir if ram managing is your problem, then I have the perfect product for you!
Ram Manager.
Set it to Balance (More Multi tasking) or Hard Multi tasking and you'll be running as many apps as the phone can handle.

When I wiped my ext partition and had maybe 20 default apps on, the app launcher moved like a beast, instant, basically like the godly iphone UI + a discrete adjuster.
However now I'ved restored my 250ish apps/elements it now lags like a mofo. What I want to know is what physically is being limited hardware wise, and is there any way to boost the performance of this memory? I assume it would be between CPU, RAM and GPU, although I dont understand how it could be annoy of those [sorry for my noobishness]:
CPU: Snapdragon, OCed, not exactly CPU intensive anyway
RAM: Have 250MB free, never seems to get 'full' when i quickly tab to the usage
GPU: This is what I guess, but if so why cant we get around this with a less intensive menu setup? Surely all that is happening is we have 20-25 icons + labels floating up and down on a screen? To be honest id prefer literally just that on an instant screen over the 'oo that looks nice.... oh wait it lags like a *****' we have now.
Any comments would be appreciated
MOD EDIT - Moved to Q&A
well, one thing which would probably slow down the launcher is the sd card speed... and considering u've got a helluva lot of apps on ur sd card, it seems like a plausable reason...
Is anyone able to confirm that? Surely though its precached the icons and names somewhere though :/

if you use CM rom you can go to spare parts and enable "keep launcher in memory" that usually helps a lot
I have Kang, so has a launcher over CM. The setting was enabled, but i dissabled and renabled to see if that was a problem. Possibly did solve a bit of it, but it still takes at least half a second for the menu to catch up with my finger, even including 'touch lag'. The only way you can see what I mean is if you play with an empty phone, its INSTANT.

You mean the activity/app choice list right? (like when you make a application shortcut, or view installed applications). It does lag when you have a lot of apps. If it does cache the data its definitely short-term, if you try it again after a day its slow the first time.
Lets hope froyo has something to make it faster, systemwide.

I assume the only difference between our phones then is SD card.

Anyone have any other ideas?
Im having a issue right now with my tasks and apps. on my Galaxy S. Im on Serendipity 5.4 Just installed it like hours ago so im wondering whenever i use Advance task killer and I Kill all my apps. Some of my apps start up right after i close them . I wonder why this happens because it just taking more of my memory and I don't like apps running in the background. Especially the ones that use 3g .So if anyone can recommend too a app or setting that can stop these apps from starting back up. I would greatly Appreciate thx very much or if anyone is experiencing the same issue. I would appreciate a solution. Sry this is my first post on this website . So im a newb. Although i have somewhat done my reading. Btw Serendipity is a awsome rom.thanks.

actually im messing with the auto kill settings now. lol such a noob
Android seeks to increase performance and efficiency by loading apps into memory and leaving them there after use. This does not mean that they are using CPU cycles or accessing the network. Killing off apps actually will consume more energy as they will need to be reloaded when they are needed again and in many cases this occurs automatically as you are seeing.

Original thread Here
All credit goes to Juwell for the script.
MORE SMOOTHNESS, MORE SPEED, LESS LAGS AND ENOUGH FREE MEMORY
Hi guys,
after long time of testing I found the best balance for RAM, this script will make your RAM in the best optimization, the best optimization means the best balance between free memory, multitask, speed of launching apps and system speed. It means that you'll still have enough free memory (you'll have free memory as much as you need, because it is not good if you have really a lot of free memory, because Android's work with memory is different from other OS) and you can fully use your multitask, my script doesn't kill your app automatically when you minimize it. Your system and switching between apps or launching apps will be very fast.
Now you don't have to use Task Killer!

Requirements: Root, Kernel which supports init.d
Lowmemorykiller values
-Values which mainly affect your multitask and free memory. Values of my script were made for combination of using multitask and still have enough free memory.
VM values
-Very important values which affect your battery consumption, system speed and speed of launching apps.

HOW TO CHECK IF SCRIPT WORKS
Download "AutoKiller Memory Optimizer" and check values:
LMK values
10MB, 16MB, 24MB, 48MB, 56MB, 72MB
VM values
50, 10, 5, 10, 90, 5
ROM devs can use Juwell's script in their ROMs, but give the proper credit.

I have been testing this script with Rewind 3D Sense 3.0 and switching between apps and navagating threw the homescreen is a lot smoother.
Downside, it kills my battery pretty fast, 3 hours and already down to 50% lite use.
I attached the flashable.zip and the script by itself.
Enjoy!!

That would be overkill. The task killer apps actually hurt the phone's battery more than help anyway, so this script should be enough.

Manually moved s97ramscript using root explorer. Set Permissions rwxrwxrwx, rebooted and I am not seeing the correct values in Autokiller Memory Optimizer.
Not really sure wtf is going on here, running MIUI with incredikernel, both latest versions.
I had the same issue with the script. Remove "s" from the script so it should be "97ramscript". It should work. Worked for me after I did that.
whats different between this one and V6 SuperCharger? V6 supercharger doesnt require Cw flashing, just script manager and busybox 1.18.2

I had a custom lockscreen that was very slow. If its when you unlock/bring out of standby then it might be the same thing. Use a small (filesize small) lockscreen and see if that helps. If its large and uses 3d etc then yes, it is slow.

another possible explanation is that some people install battery management profiles eg: cpu tuner.
in this case people somtimes apply an overly restrictive cpu profile on the "screen off" profile so it uses only a small amount of battery. While this does indeed save battery, it also causes there to be a larger delay than normal when unlocking the device from deep sleep.
Pete
Try increasing CPU mhz.You can also try tweaking minfree values. one easy way to that is to use ROM toolbox pro Or use RAM manager from the market to give your ace more RAM

when i clear ram it go to 180 or 190 but aftr few minuts its come to around 240.
high ram usage makes my phone laggy and some time its hang
i tried clear cache, wips and reboot but does not work.

is there any other solution.
should i try any other rom if yes then which one for less ram usage.
