Hello!
My Ace has a problem. Maybe is not only may Ace, but the thing is, sometimes it turns to be verry slow...I mean, realy slow. This, most of the times, happens after he is in standby mode for a long time.
So, my question is: What is the best rom for resolving this problem, keapping everything working properly?
Thanks
Miguel

I had a custom lockscreen that was very slow. If its when you unlock/bring out of standby then it might be the same thing. Use a small (filesize small) lockscreen and see if that helps. If its large and uses 3d etc then yes, it is slow.

another possible explanation is that some people install battery management profiles eg: cpu tuner.
in this case people somtimes apply an overly restrictive cpu profile on the "screen off" profile so it uses only a small amount of battery. While this does indeed save battery, it also causes there to be a larger delay than normal when unlocking the device from deep sleep.
Pete
Try increasing CPU mhz.You can also try tweaking minfree values. one easy way to that is to use ROM toolbox pro Or use RAM manager from the market to give your ace more RAM

Hello,
I'm using OpenTouch 7.7 on my HTC. It's running very well.
Before flashing OTP 7.7 I used Papa's Black System .
My problem now is the Battery-Live Time of my HTC. With the battery runs the system 3 days. With BatteryStatus the system runs 5-6 days because of the reduced cpu-speed.
Is there any automatic cpu-speed-tools like batterystatus but without usage of the today-screen?
VG Holger.
I think we're wrong thread, but seems to me like an overclocker app, seen it here gonna look to. I'm as well using oTC7.7. I added a few apps and the carbon looking wait animation. This rom is by far the best IMO. Ill post a dowload or something if I find it. Runs a bit slow too, but thats the phone
where i can find OTP 7.7 ?
i need help
try this ....... i use to use 7.7 and it worked for me... one sets the clock the other keeps it there after soft resets

Disable any Row in Battery Status, then nothing will show up on the screen.
Download SecondToday.cab and install that after Homescreen ++. Run Secondtoday and chose HomeScreen ++ only and run it on startup. Then use Dynamic Overclocking with Manila2D. This is the only working solution if you want HomeScreen. Omapclock plus overclocks consistently at the chosen speed so you will suffer battery drain.
we hear alot builds being faster and better ect on here is there anyway to prove this? i have ran neocore on few roms to see and get some variables like if you touch the screen it throws it all off. and even if does work its only frame rates but like something that can tell app transition speed the time it takes the the launcher to open ect. i know these difference would be small but it help people better understand swap and the right swap settings for them and also aid rom cooks in seeing what settings should work papper and how they actually work on phone.
idk even know if this is possible

Im having a issue right now with my tasks and apps. on my Galaxy S. Im on Serendipity 5.4 Just installed it like hours ago so im wondering whenever i use Advance task killer and I Kill all my apps. Some of my apps start up right after i close them . I wonder why this happens because it just taking more of my memory and I don't like apps running in the background. Especially the ones that use 3g .So if anyone can recommend too a app or setting that can stop these apps from starting back up. I would greatly Appreciate thx very much or if anyone is experiencing the same issue. I would appreciate a solution. Sry this is my first post on this website . So im a newb. Although i have somewhat done my reading. Btw Serendipity is a awsome rom.thanks.

actually im messing with the auto kill settings now. lol such a noob
Android seeks to increase performance and efficiency by loading apps into memory and leaving them there after use. This does not mean that they are using CPU cycles or accessing the network. Killing off apps actually will consume more energy as they will need to be reloaded when they are needed again and in many cases this occurs automatically as you are seeing.

Hi all,
With CM7 i'm enjoying my Milestone like never before. But since it's my first custom ROM, i have some questions though.
1. When returning to the home screen, 9 out of 10 times it reloads and rebuilds completely. How can i avoid this?
2. If it's a memory issue and i want to keep it in memory, how can i accomplish this without the risk of losing other essential apps from memory, like SMS and phone?
3. I read something about priorities for apps, how does this work?
4. Sometimes my device reboots randomly. My CPU is set to 900. Can this be the cause? If so, what's the best CPU speed setting?
So far for now, but i guess i'll be back with some more ;-)
Thanks in advance,
Gerard

I'm no expert so someone please correct me if i'm wrong and sorry for all spelling errors.
What version of CM7 are you running? If u'r running RC3 0.08-11.03.16 that homescreen Redraw (problem number 1) should be minor, something like 1 out of 10 times, atleast on my milestone. There is "Keep home in memory" setting in Cyanogenmod settings -> Performance, make sure it's enabled and for the problem number 2 enable "Keep SMS in memory". You shouldn't care much about app priorities cause CM7 memory management is taking care of that pretty well. Random reboot are DSI errors, they are minor in the newest CM7 version but there is no failsafe way to avoid them, if you don't want to chance the kernel, you can read about that in CM7 for milestone thread.
Thanks, i just can't find the "keep SMS in memory" option?
Then you probably won't have the newest version of CM7. You can find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941346 and flash it just like u flashed it at the first time. Just wipe cache and dalvik cache from open recovery and you will get to keep all your personal settings and files/apps.
That's the one i have and i already found it. But thanks again!

A few answers of my own:
1) The CPU speed is probably NOT the cause of your reboots, but if you want to be sure, try it for a week. 700 is safer, 550 is default.
2) If it is your CPU overclocking, you may be able to fix it by upping the voltage on your overclock. This will lead to a bit more heat and a bit more battery drain, but should fix the reboots if CPU related
3) I would look at the SUPERCHARGE your Milestone thread about memory management settings. Although Zepps's settings and scripts are meant for tweakers and are probably a tad aggressive if you don't know what you are doing, they did speed up my phone by 200%.
I would recommend installing AutoMemoryManager and using the mild settings if you want to do something less aggressive than the Supercharge scripts...
You will get some of the benefits of the supercharge and a very low risk of apps getting killed by the memory manager.
My 2 cents!
thanks caz.
I'm pretty sure the new minfree settings that I've been testing out are the best of both worlds... superfast and background friendly.
I hadnt had a chance to update the thread yet and post the new script.
But for those interested, this should really work great... 6, 8, 24, 26, 28, 30.
Thanks all, i'll look into those things. By reading that is, because i've got a lot to learn!
Hi all,
I'm still experimenting and impressed by this ROM. Just now I performed a fix permissions to prevent apps from fc. That modified the read & write permissions of all apps. I assumed it couldn't hurt to try, but now I'm wondering what it did exactly. There aren't any noticable changes. Can anyone fill me in?
Thanks,
Gerard

I'm not sure what you mean, but this is my first custom ROM coming from stock Eclair on my first Android device.
So I have no idea which is the best, but I do know that I'm very impressed by CM7. It runs perfectly on my Milestone, so I feel no need whatsoever to try another.
Yup, for sure

Can you tell me if the camera & video work well?
My 2 bigs problem with froyomod are the camera that often FC and freeze and the video that are stuttering so much..
I can move to CM7 only if I'm sure that this stuff work well!

I can only speak for myself, but I haven't had one single problem so far. Shooting pictures and videos works fluently on my device. I am also not aware of any possible known problems, but maybe others can confirm this.

Started new thread for a specific question, but i can't delete this post.
Is there any way/app to change the screen rotation delay?
Sometimes more delay would be nice, and on rare occations a shorter delay... ie, when my asswipe iphone fanboy friend of mine comments on how "slow" the phone are
I try to tell him its an delay that are set, and not lagg but deaf ears...
Anyone know ho to do this?
Anyone have any input?
I am 99 % sure you can't make the device delay the rotation
It only depends on the CPU speed and memory usage (RAM usage).
Only suggestion would be to make the phone lag which is always an horrible idea

+1. Don't really think that there will ever be such a feature as most users will not really use it haha. Faster is always better to me
Well.. how to make it respond quicker then?
Im not talking about lag or rotation speed.. im talking about the delay from the time i flipp the phone to the screen starts to rotate
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA Premium App
First you want delay now you want it quicker???
Why do you need the delay and why do you need it to be quicker???
there probably will be a way to do it but to be honest no developer is going to sit down for hours trying to figure this out as there really is no need for it.

If You had read my first post You would see i asked for BOTH... what does it matter... sometimes like when I need a wider keyboard, i would like it to change quick... when in galery it would be nice... sometime it would be nice to have it as it is today or even a few ms slower.. say when your reading documents, playing games (when You move the phone alot and dont want it to change emediately..)
there are alot of reasons for this feature, just because You'r happy with the delay.. Hey!... some are even ok with the stock ROM... but i dont argue with them...
Anyone else that have any info?.. or atleast give me som pointers in the right direction.. maby i'll be able to figure it out myself... just does'nt know where to start....

Its possible....roman did it in the galaxy tab 10.1 pics aokp build with his from tools app..Not sure how
it is kind of possible (changing the screen rotation animation speed - making it look like instant rotate or slow screen rotate). Using Temaseks Kang with ICS transitions - you can go to "Spare Parts" app (downloadable via market in case you don't have it in your rom), scroll down to Transition animation and experiment. I'd guess it's not the solution you wanted, but close enough.
A smart App on the Market available for free : SmartRotator
You can choose which applications enables/disables the screen rotation
I use it since few days, it does it job.
(Don't remember if it needs root access or not, but I don't think so)
