I can't seem to figure out why my screen is turning on after I get a text message or other kind of notification. It goes off fairly quickly, but I would like it to just not come on at all automatically. I have BLED installed anyway (although I don't think it's working right now, maybe because of this screen on thing).
So, can anyone tell me how to disable the screen on when a text/notification comes through? I've looked through settings. I'm not a newbie so I can understand any kind of talk, or should be able to.
Thanks!

That's just notifications in the status bar.
I'm currently using Omega StatusBar but it's buggy at best. After enabling in accessibility settings I find that the counters are frequently incorrect, apps stick around after clearing notifications, and ongoing notifications don't play very nice.
Anyone using a statusbar with more success? Which one?
I'm looking for any which display icons for notifications rather than the vague circle with a number within it as present in the stock os. It's good to see what's going on at a glance without swiping down.

+1 want to know the best bar too xD
I wasn't even able to get Omega StatusBar to display notifications on my 8.9" HD. As soon as I turned on the "accessibility" option necessary for it to intercept notifications, I got a force close.
I've tried a couple of other status bar replacements from the Play store with the same results -- all fail turning accessibility on. I've seen reports of other 8.9" users having the same problem.
I would certainly like to hear of a working status bar that doesn't have this problem.
The stock status bar works.

You have to go to the Kindle's settings -> accessibility -> then turn on the option for Omega Statusbar accessibility.
From there you can turn on the accessibility within Omega's app. It might force close but it will work.
At that point when you open the Omega app you will want to hit the button on the top-right-most of the screen. It turns on the status bar. You should instantly see the statusbar pop up.
It doesn't always clear notifications though. I guess this is an android limitation with what gets sent to the accessibility api.
Hope that works for you.

Oh and if you're stock or stock rooted and you don't have accessibility settings within the Kindle's settings menu use KFHD Extended Settings to access it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124384

Thanks, I got it working. It wasn't worth it, though. Wasn't much of a functional improvement, didn't look that much better, and the old status bar would show up in flashes now and then.
Maybe the stock toolbar isn't that bad...

Yeah.. And even moving to /system/app doesn't make a difference unfortunately. At least when the stock toolbar says 10 notifications, its really 10 notifications. I'm confident some ROM will get something stable going though, just a matter of time.

Is there a way to change the icons that show in the status bar without having to switch to an entire other status bar? I'm referring to the parental controls, wifi and battery icons that appear in the top right corner. I'd like to customize those. Possible?
Is there a way to limit the notifications in the top bar to icon of app only rather than having the text scroll first then the persistent icon? I don't want to disable the entire notifications like in the app settings, just the text.

It depends on the app. For example, third party SMS apps often have a setting to do just what you described. I don't think any stock apps have that setting.
Just got a moto 360. I want to use it as a trusted device, but don't want that icon in my notifications bar at all times. Is there a way to get rid of the notification but keep it as a trusted device?
Touch and Hold on the notification. App Info -> Hide Notifications

Tried that and the check box is grayed out and doesn't allow me to change it.

It's part of Android System, which is probably why you can't disable it. If you're rooted, Gravity Box (Xposed module) has an Ongoing Notification Blocker that will allow you to hide specific icons. I've disabled this one and the keyboard switcher, both are part of Android System.
Hi guys! Anyone knows if it is possible to remove any toggle from notification bar? Before anyone ask "why do that?" I was thinking in remove the mobile data toggle because in case of someone stole my phone, the guy cant disable the mobile connection and I can track my phone.
Thanks
You need to be rooted to remove it.

Hi ,
Trying to understand above post ?
Surely you can switch data on in settings.?
(You can switch data on and off .)
See screenshot .
or have i misunderstood you ?
Good luck
post note
what i am saying is what's the use of removing data toggle in notifications ,
when you can just again ,enable this same function ( data on /off ) in setting .?
Surely you would be wasting your time, as it would not help your idea of what you are trying to achieve .?
Cerberus have the option for removing quick setting on the lock screen
