I am very new at this maybe I am not looking the right thing.
Please help me I need to use my phone again
What country are you in? It really doesn't matter necessarily what you download. I'm in the United States so of course I'm not going to have one for the international note so I just used Open Germany.
I Am in Canada
You mean I can use any of the downloads it will work?
I was thinking that I absolutely need to download the same as my baseband
I am just affraid to screw up

Yeah. The baseband is totally separate. That's your modem and you just have to find one that works best for you, but its separate from the ROM.

I think i am confused, that mean I could install a different modem (Phone button in ODIN) ?
Where can I get these ? peraps thats my only problem in ICS, everything is fine except the sound of the phone. Maybe I should try a different Modem before going back to GB?

Sorry, I'm confusing you.
Okay for the ROM itself: Put the file in the PDA section in Odin.
For a baseband/modem: there is a thread in the android development section with all the modems. You can download the zip and flash it in CWM. A GB modem CAN work in ICS and vice versa. I'm using LPT but it affects people differently depending on where you are.
Thank you
Thank you for your help Andrew . you put me on the right track. I have now a working ICS on My note and everything works perfectly, even calls

Okay, so I just typed for 20 minutes on this reply and then accidentally closed the tab before posting. ;_; So let's try this again. It's probably going to be a bit shorter this time around, 'cause I don't wanna spend another 20 minutes, but mkay
I'm pretty new to all this, and while I think I have a decent idea of what to do, I want to make sure I'm going to be doing everything right the first time around
I was planning on doing the following:
1) install the 3 button combo fix
2) install clockworkmod recovery
3) install speedmod
4) install a custom rom
Now I have some questions regarding all this Probably very newbish questions, but alas, here goes:
1) clockworkmod=clockworkmod recovery right? same thing?
2) if I installed clockworkmod, could I still use Odin if wanted to?
3) radio, rom & kernel are 3 different things, ive been told by a friend with a HTC Hero. but I only see custom versions of ROM and Kernel for the SGS. Does that mean it's different for SGS users? how I should see this?
4) with clockworkmod I could put a backup stock rom into place to flash to in case I ever have to send my phone back, right?
5) custom roms dont include custom kernels right? since when I read custom rom threads they sometimes list kernels, as if they're included or something. confuses me. they're 2 entirely different things to install, right?
I think that's about it. Am I missing anything? I mean, is there anything I could/should do as well?
Hope you guys can help me

Before I forget, make sure you remove your SIM and external SDCard, also this is for GSM devices.
Cheers and good luck ;-)

uhmm... not sure what you mean. Have a tab since 3 days, but managed twice to get the similar screen like you, once because i turned off the device bevore the flashing was done (punch me), second time when i actually removed the memory card, however, restarting Odin 1.7 with the above posted link to the roto files, I was always able to flash - ahh.. and once I even locked the bootloader, no other ROM was flashable, ROTO still worked.
I learned my lesson, and unlocked the bootloader as described in the sticky.
You might want to check if you got the correct drivers, also other users reported that they had to drain the device, then reload for 10 - 20 mins, then it worked..
Hope this helps.
You don't have a damaged slot. That is download mode when a flash didn't go correctly. Fire up odin, and reflash. Check all your settings carefully.
Hey there - I just bought my wife a used Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (I9000M) and it came with a custom rom / cwm recovery already installed - now I'd keep it as it seems to work ok, but since it's for my Wife, I'd rather just return it to stock as she doesn't need all the custom rom enhancements I don't think.
What i'd like to do is return it to a stock Samsung ROM - or at least something really close to stock. (Something that has all the stock Samsung apps maybe?) I'm not familiar at all with the rom that's on there so it may be the best one available, I have no idea. This is my Wife's first Android phone and I'd rather not turn her off of it because of some custom roms issues.
My problem is that I'm not sure how to go back. I've read a bunch of articles on here and I just got confused since there are so many different modems and regions, or whatever. I'm not a total noob with custom roms, I've put dozens on my Dell Streak, but the Samsung seems to be a bit more complicated (to me at least). If someone could help me by listing the steps required to go back to stock or if they can recommend an optimized stock rom, something like that, I'd really appreciate it.
Here's what I have on there now...

and there you have to pick the file with UGJL2 firmware, download, doubleclick to extract it and then just follow the instructions in the thread fireburn postet.have fun
I run doc 9.9.5 myself, JS8 2.2.1 is a better ROM than JL2 2.2 and the speedmod kernel is also better than stock...but whatever.
I have all the Samsung stock apps on mine (not the Bell ones, don't really need them unless you pay a ton for mobile TV), but whoever cooked that one up might have left them off.
Thanks a lot folks! I might just look at possibly cooking another rom that has all the standard apps in it.
I did notice something that doesn't work in my current ROM, when I connect the USB cable, the option to mount the sd memory as a mass storage device isn't available. Does anyone else have that issue (or have you seen it before)? Do you think cooking a new ROM up in the kitchen would resolve that or do I have to go back to stock for that feature?
Thanks,
Steve
Go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> USB settings
Don't know what setting it could be on now but change it to 'mass storage'
Hi guys.
I got second hand galaxy i9000 with stock rom in Lithuania.Europe.
Will try to explain my little problem.
I believe problem is in baseband.. but my (custom rom) experience is only with Xperia Arc and i see working with Galaxy is a bit different.
Hope u can direct me.
Flashed this file CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVP-v3.7-CWM3RFS.tar via ODIN 1.85 ...
Got CWM with it and installed CM10.1 RC1
Phone is up and works fine but except mobile internet (settings are proper) Gtalk works, facebook notifications are ok, but browser not, facebook by itself does not load, Gmail do not syncs...etc no internet!
Everything is fine when on Wifi.
My exsisting baseband is XXJVT.
I have searched loads of topics and could not find anything usefull. Too much confusing outdated info to be sure to proceed flashing phone with CM10.1
Please correct me and advice how to change baseband (or if any other problem u see here)
As I uderstand my previouosly used JVP-v3.7-CWM3RFS is not proper? and all i need is to find proper tar file which makes root, kernel and baseband at once for Galaxy? Please advice which one and where to get it then, or what other problems you might see here?
Thank you

Whats da original baseband? JB will be on XXJVT
anyway, revert back to GB to retrieve ur baseband, dont know if its work but try search this I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA and download it
as for cf :CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS. flash using odin
I always use this on my i9000 to revert back to GB whenever i wanted. Its basic GB firmware and CF Root
and if works, dont forget to backup efs or just do a backup on everything
My baseband seems out of date XXJVU Baseband. With one is newer better for SlimKat Android 4.4 ?
Galaxy S (I9000)
no one
XXJVT-I9000-JB-KK.zip
XXJVU-I9000-JB-KK.zip
XXJW4-I9000-JB-KK.zip
with one is better?

Yes, indeed. The baseband is mainly responsible for your cell phone signal. But it depends on your region, which one's best for you. Basebands aren't usually included in the rom, so you can just go on using your current one, if you don't have any problems. I usually flash the latest stock firmware for my region before flashing the rom and then just leave the baseband. But you could also try flashing one of those: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14273164&postcount=4.

CM11 Nightly
Okay, so can anyone answer this? I've searched quite a bit and I don't have a definitive answer yet.
First off:
- I'm currently with an unlocked Bell Canada GT-I9000M (SGS) but my current carrier is Fido/Rogers.
- The current ROM is an official CM11 nightly ROM (20140513).
- I don't know what the kernel is (or that even matters). Kernel version says 3.0.101-g5fba4f [email protected] #1
My baseband is I9000XXJVT
Now for my question...
I'm finding that my reception is crummy, terrible, just plain bad. I'm losing signal all the time. Can I flash one of these modems using ODIN even though they seem to be "older" modems and CM11 is KK?
My hunch is that I can but I want to bee 100% sure before attempting this.
Cheers,
J.P.

Well, I got ahead of myself and well, it didn't work. Good thing I had stock ready to reflash.
