Change Bluetooth mac address on gingerbread, Droid 3. - Motorola Droid 3

It's simple, I need to use the same PS3 controller both on my Acer Iconia and my Milestone 3. The only way for me to do this is spoofing the bt mac address of one of this devices.
I've read a lot about it and can't seem to make it work. That guide who says I need to put a file into /pds folder won't work on my phone.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks.

[Q] Connecting Galaxy tab to Ad hoc Network?

Anyone been able to apply a method for connecting a Galaxy tab to a ad hoc wifi network?
I've rooted my tab and poked around for the various fixes but can't get anything to work. I tried the compiled Froyo fix for this but it throws an error when I try to flash the fix using Rom Manager: "failed to verify whole-file signature".
Will this patch need to be resigned for the tab? I'll admit I'm new to the Android world and I'm hoping there's an easy fix for this.
i also want to know how to connect to an ad hoc network. Please help us.
I tether mine using wireless tether on my dinc you just need to enable access control and it will work.
By wireless tether, you mean Bluetooth? What do you mean by "enable access control"?
I have a rooted droid incredible I use "wireless tether" from the market. When you open the app hit menu then access control and just hit enable.
Nope...had me going for a minute though. Funny though,my girlfriends DX can see my ad-hoc tether from my d1?
I would also like to know...

Having the Galaxy Tab recognize/connect to ad-hoc wireless network is critical for me. Anyone have the answer??
Verizon galaxy tab ad hoc working
After rooting my tab I found this link on the forums: forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7711198&postcount=6
Grabbing the wpa_supicant file from there all I did was use root explorer, which can be found in the android market, to back up my existing wpa_supplicant found in the
/system/bin/ directory at the bottom. Then I copied the newly downloaded file
(after extracting it) and placed it in the above mentioned directory. You will have to press
The r/w button at the top of root explorer in order to enable read write permissions in
/system/bin . I tested this with the wireless tether on my droid original and it works
as advertised.
I am not the one who created this solution nor am I the one who compiled wpa_supplicant
All credit goes to the original author of the solution. I merely wish to convey to you that this solution worked for me. I hope this helps.
*It is important to note th at this was done using a rooted verizon galaxy tab. You will
Have to be at least rooted for this solution to have any chance of working. I used z4root
in order to root my device which can be found by searching these forums or the android market and again I dont claim any credit or participation in the creation of that app.

Yea, you're changing a file on the tab, so as long as you can tether with your inc, you'll be good. This definitely works and is incredibly simple, I'm tethered right now off my droid x.

Maybe this is a total noob problem but, I rooted my tab, followed the instructions and nada. The file says it copied but the date of the file did not change. I refreshed and checked again. I tried to see if the tab would now see my wifi tether from my droid1. No go. My laptop and ipod see the droid wifi but not the galaxy. Any ideas?

Assuming u backed up the original file first to ur sdcard, I actually deleted the one in
/system/bin then copied the modified file there afterward in order to make sure it was replaced and to avoid overwrite issues like that. Give that a try?
And dont forget to mount the folder in "r/w"

This worked great for me. Had to use adb shell and some command line tricks but got the new wpa_supplicant copied and can now use the wifi tether on my phone for internet. Good times.
Thanks!

[Q] CIF Manager / CIFS.Ko - Galaxy S i9000

Hi All,
Before I begin, I'd like to note that I am very new to the andoid system; I only received my Galaxy S about a month ago and before that I was a hardcore iPhone 3GS user.
I've attempted to search these forums for an answer to my query, but I have found it difficult due to the enormity of these forums.
With my iPhone, I was able to use a program called Air Video...I am not sure if anyone here is familiar with it. It allows you to stream video via WiFi from your computer to your iPhone with on the fly conversion. You'd install a small server on the computer then share the relevant folders. You could then access the shares from the iPhone and play any video files.
I have been attempting to find a similar app for my Galaxy S but the closet I've been able to get is CIF manager with a separate file manager and video player. My issue is that I cannot get CIF manager to work. I am after a compatible CIFS.ko file to enable me to access my Windows 7 shares.
Does anyone know where I can find said file? Here are my handset details:
Model Number: GT-I9000
Firmware Version: 2.2.1
Baseband Version: I9000XXJPY
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9 hardcore speedmod-k13a-5000hz #32
Build Number: DocRom_V9.1.4_XWJS3
Thanks!
Eliminatrix
I would be very interested to know if you resolved this
I dont have solution for CIFS.ko but i have other solution.
I run a webserver on my computer. anything light will do.
from phone under wifi open the access your computer using browser.
navigate to your video file and copy the link
install vplayer and paste the link. So far it work flawless for me.
I not sure other free player works but vplayer you can fast forword without problem
Not sure if this will help, but MOST of the kernels in this forum have cifs support, you simply need to enable it via CWM.
Then you should be able to use CIF Manager the same way you would a samba share if you are familiar with linux or via windows shares (no need for additional program on the system).
Can you elaborate how? I do not see anything look like enabling cifs in CWM...

[Q] Root access from Windows XP?

Hello XDA,
I have rooted and installed busybox on my Samsung Captivate I896. I have been looking into finding a way to spoof my MAC address by editing nvram.txt.
My issue is that I have no idea how I can access the root directories like /etc/ from Windows XP. I have putty installed on my computer but am not sure how to go about mounting the captivate. All I see is the non super user directories.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] gingerbread 2.3.3 ad-hoc support

Hi everybody!
so i have a rooted device running xwjv3 -latest official 2.3.3- and i really need to share my laptop internet with my sgs, cuz thats the only way to get internet on the phone.
so how do i get ad-hoc enabled in 2.3.3?
OR is there any sharing ways but ad-hoc so the phone can detect the access point?
by the way, computer's running windows 7
Ps. i already checked the wpa file and stuff, dont seem to be working on gingerbread.
Does this thread help ?
yea, thanks, it actually was my answer- kinda late though, but that's what i was looking for thanks
Glad it worked for you, I had to revert to wpa_supplicant v0.5.11 from the original thread to get it working..
man i have the same problem ,
if u find the solution plz help me
No need to modify wpa_supplicant binary
I changed data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf instead of wpa_supplicant. I added ap_scan=2, then set the adhoc network to
priority=1
mode=1
then pushed back the modified file. chown ownership back to system.wifi.
I had root access through adb. So root wasn't necessary for me.
Advantage: Safer than modifying system/etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant binary. Saves you the trouble of compiling modified wpa_supplicant or finding a compiled one for your platform.
Drawback: This is just a temporary solution. You'll have to repeat this process for every new adhoc network as it doesn't enable adhoc forever. It is good for connecting to your home network or other know networks, but if you want to connect to any adhoc network you scan, then this is not your method. Because, wpa_supplicant.conf will be overwritten every time you scan a new network.
Here is an easier alternative to the android to pc adhoc connections without doing anything on the device, only with a PC application ...

Access Point vs Adhoc
Thanks for the suggestion jota. But, the program suggested by you works in a different way. It creates an Access Point mode Hotspot( a virtual router ) to which Android can directly connect. An application called Connectify can create Access Point mode Hotspot for Windows 7 and above.
What we're discussing here is about another type of Hotspot- adhoc mode. AP mode hotspots are better and newer Hotspot standard, but Windows versions prior to Windows 7 and Nokia Symbian phones with wifi(using softwares like Joikuspot) cant create AP mode hotspots. It's possible to create AP in linux, but not easy for beginers as there's no simple program like Connectify available to do this. You'll have to do some command line works. For those who're stuck wid adhoc networks, this thread is a possible solution.

Hi Sherip. Have you tried this on Nook Tablet. If you had please can you help me figure out how to make it happen further. Since I installed ES File Explore and when I toggle it to display Bluetooth Folder; It returns with the error saying that the bluetooth folder is set hidden change it from the settings. And in settings I found no such option to enable it. Thanks.

I didint tried but I think we can do. Else, for what the Nooks Bluetooth is meant for since it doesnt allows transfer or exchange of files. So surely meant to connect other Bluetooth Devices.
I could be wrong but from what verygreen wrote in my six axis ps3 thread, it would seem blue-toot is kinda broken in JB
for the time being.
Didn't think I could but I did it. I have an old Nook Color which doesn't include Bluetooth support, but has a Bluetooth chip with poor or no built in antenna. This NC is running CM 7.2 and has es file explorer installed. I booted my HD+ from an SD card that runs stock and also has es file explorer onboard. I opened es on both devices and set them side by side. On both I went to Bluetooth in es. On both I did a search and each offered to make itself discoverable. On the HD+ I touched NookColor. Was prompted on both to pair. Did it. Then I saw a file listing of the NC on the HD+. Selected a file and did a copy-to the local download dir. It was slow, but it worked. I also had set the NC not to sleep because a previous attempt failed to complete a file xfer.
Edit: For file xfer with PCs, regular wireless is much faster. just need to be running a network and have some shared folders on the PCs. Depending on windows version and network options you can access the PCs anonymously or after providing a valid Windows user ID and password for the PC in ES file explorer.
