[Q] Flashing an official Samsung galaxy tab kernel - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 (GT-P7510) with Android 3.2 and kernel 2.6.36.3 installed. I'm building a customized kernel using Samsung's official kernel source code for research purposes. I do not need to install any third party hacks or do fancy things. I just need to flash my own kernel to test it on the device.
I have been searching around the web for a clean way of flashing a modified Samsung kernel build on this device, but I'm not able to make sense of the results I'm getting. I'm not sure if my device has an unlocked bootloader or not.
I'm totally lost in this. I just need some hint to start this.
1. Do I need to unlock the bootloader to be able to install a new kernel?
-- How a bootloader is unlocked on Galaxy Tab 10.1?
2. Can I do this using adb or fastboot?
I appreciate your help!

you are in the wrong forum, there is a good page for galaxy tab 10.1 look for it.

Thanks for the great video guide! I was wondering if this only works on the samsung galaxy s i9000 unlocked version, or if it will work on its variants. Also, if i am running stock firmware, how do I get to ics, since you said not to flash from stock firmware. Must i install cyanogenmod 7 first? if so, where would i get instructions on doing this? Will flashing this build also unlock your phone if not already unlocked? Let me know. Thank you!
which variant do u use?
Ics port for Samsung galaxy s
I was thinking of using a USA T-Mobile t959 variant, but could also use the GTi9000.
Also, I could preform the install on the i997 AT&T Infuse 4G. I am looking to buy an older galaxy s, but still run ics on it, which is why I am asking. I would opt for the unlocked i9000 model, but they are rather expensive, which is why I was wondering if ics would run on cheaper, carrier locked variants, which I could later unlock. Thanks again for your help.

I saw the S4 ROM`s available for Micro-max mobile as a custom ROM.. so just want to try my I9000 can be update to firmware since Samsung is stopped the original firmware update.
currently, I am using MIUI ROM custom on I9000.. it`s good & I am happy..but looking for Samsung new firmware..

Those are not ROM ports mate , it's just about theming some core apps like a Touchwiz ( SGS 4 ) rom. You can find such several ports in the development section.
What you're seeing is s4-look ROMs for s1, not actual s4 ROMs that you can flash on an s1.
That's a sure fire way to brick your phone..

Yes.... he could use it, only for 5 seconds during flashing, and then never again, neither phone nor rom.
Not even 5 seconds. I think Odin would fail almost immediately.
The Micromax have rom ports that (quite accurately) resemble the S4 because they take stock 4.2.x roms and theme/mod them. The S doesn't have this option

How to Unlock Bootloader Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190N

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190N and I cant find any instructions on how to unlock the bootoader on the internet. My aim is to flash Cyanogen Mod onto my phone. I am running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. My device is rooted via Kingo Root and I have fiddled around a little with Kernel Adiutor, but nothing major (mostly because I don't really know what I'm doing)
The simpler the instruction the better! I am a definite beginner in this field.
Thank you!

How to install a new rom on Tab S2 9.7

My question is as follows. I have a Tab S2 9.7 with OJ4 and Android 5.0.2. I have installed TWRP on it and also rooted the Tab.
But now, I wish to flash a new rom on this tab, but how should I do that, do I need a new kernel, do I need another android version, what custom rom is adviced?
In the roms here, I see they are usually for OH7 with android 5.1.1
So please, is there somewhere a step-by-step "guide" to flash a new custom rom on the above mentioned Tab S2,
Many thanks in advance for any help!
Looking in development section there is not much custom ROMS for T81*? Tab s2 9.7 don't tell much and if you are on OJ4 bootloader I would recommend upgrading it to 5.1.1 one by just flashing firmware with Odin, you won't be able to downgrade I guess. The worst part about tab s2 it's cpu and the lack of custom ROMS because of samsung being a prick.
