Samsung GT N7000 2.3.6 Carrier Unlock? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone help me with some instructions on how to do this?
I have a Galaxy S2 and My Dad has N7000 both on contracts with different suppliers and we want to swap phones.
I've been searching on methods to do so but can't find exactly what I need to do.
I've seen people write it has to be downgraded to 2.3.5 then unlocked.
IS it possible on 2.3.6 or do I need to downgrade? Where do I find the correct version of 2.3.5? (for UK, locked to Orange)
I know I use Odin to do it.
Once I've downgraded what do I do next?
Do I need to download software?
I'm just having trouble piecing it all together and would appreciate any help
Thank you

Check your kernel version. If you have KJ4 then try this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5oZWxyb3ouZ2FsYXh5c3VubG9jayJd
It's confirmed to unlock Note on KJ4, maybe other kernels too. If your version is not supported - nothing will happen, so just try it. If it won't work on your current firmware, download GB KJ4 rom from dr. Ketan's guide, flash it, root and run this app again - it'll unlock your phone in seconds.
Here's link to the guide i mentioned:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
There is also a tutorial on rooting your phone should you need it.
As far as i know, this app is only compatible with the N7000. Do not use this app with AT&T / 4G model.

Thanks for your response
I don't have the KJ4 I have
PDA: N7000XXLC1
Phone: N7000XXLB2
CSC: N7000ORALA1
On that list from the link you gave me, I dont see a GB KJ4. Do I need an Open Europe Stock ROM of 2.3.5? Then I root, then use helroz's unlock app?
Thanks again

Firmware - newbie help

Hi all,
I am wondering if someone can guide me to the correct direction.
This is my phone (samsung Galaxy I9000)
Model GT-I9000
Firmware: 2.1-Update 1
Base Version: I9000 DTJG3
Kernel 2.6.29 [email protected]#2
Build Number: ECLAIR. DTJG4
It is unlocked - orginally from Optus.
this phone feels very slow and not very responsive at the moment.
I am thinking of upgrading the firmware hoping that it will improve the persformance
Can someone please tell me which firmware will be best for me? I'm not going to root the phone and I am just after most effecient firmware (good wifi, GPS and signal)
I am not sure which one is most stable for my phone.
Thank you
you could flash a stock gingerbread rom.the ones with bootloaders.jvh is pretty stable.2.3.4 ones will have phone fc bug..you'll hv to root ur phone to get rid of that bug..stock roms u can dwnld from ramads thread..for gps/wifi/signal u will have to flash the appropriate modem.there was a thread comparing modems somewhere here on the forum.try searching it.if u really want near zero lags it would be best to do ext4 lagfix..but again rooting will be reqd.gb roms are fast without these but lagfix still brings noticeable change.
Thank you for the reply.
It seems that I am gonna need to do root on it.
If that is the case, It will be much appreciated if I can be pointed to the correct link (tutorial - step by step) to get this process.
After reading some of the psosts I get really confused with all the type of firmware and kernel etc...
any suggestions and links I can follow will be much a great help much appreciated
Thank you again
The below links helped me out.

Read the tutorials carefully, then read them again and again until you are sure and confident. do not use if you dont feel confident.
Make sure you have the 3 button combo (recovery and download).

Hello, you can try JPY on 2.2.1, it's a stable firmware without the bugs of the gingerbread, if you doesn't want to root your phone.
Thanks for all the replies guys,
I just upgraded to GingerBread 2.3.3 XWjVN.
My next question is:
If I want to get rid of all those Optus rubish - Can you please tell me which firmware do I need to install?
There are so many types and I really get confused which one is going to work for me.
I have seen my friend's SI9000 very fast and snapy - is the firmware upgrade the way to do it?
Thanks again guys

Rooting a branded phone

Hey everyone. I am very interested in rooting, and hopefully flashing once i have done the basic root first. Please can you answer each question I have an Orange branded SGS GT-i9000. Here are the specs:
FW Version: 2.3.5
Baseband Version: I9000BVJV3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9000BVJVC-CL679241 [email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.BVJVC
Question 1: do i need to know the whole of the kernel or just part of it?
Question 2: I always see rooting guides saying 'How to root (FW version) JV(something). Where does the JV come from, as i have 2 types of JV, JV3 and JVC. So what does rooting depend on other than firmware version?
Question 3: I have noticed the Orange firmware is a different JV. So how do i know the root will work with my version as the root guides are always on stock roms?
Thanks in advance : )
Hello Tarnwilliamson, I think I am in the same boat as you, I also am on Orange with the same spec phone as you wanting to root. I was just wondering have you found out anything about rooting this phone? I have searched dev and q & a section but there seems to be no posts on this topic. I dont want to start a new thread so I though I would ask you first. Thank u in advance.
hello
You may try with Super one click root or try to flash your rom with odin to STOCK ROM (i have I9000xxjvu for example) and use CFROOT for your rom with PDA in odin. That gives u the root accsess, superuser and busybox ( CFroot IS A KERNEL) it is many subject on XDA.
Hello Marcinrek21, Thank you for your reply. As my Build number ends with jvc isnt there a specific file I need to flash with if using Odin? Or am I mistaken and I can flash with any cf root file as long as it is for a gt19000? As for super one click is that still compatibable with 2.3.5 as I remember reading somewhere the bootloader may be locked with gingerbread? Thank you in advance.

[Q] Galaxy Note Rooting

Hi
I would like to root my device and try out custom roms.
Model: GT-N7000
Gingerbread 2.3.6 stock
baseband: n7000xxla3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-N7000xxla3-cl880036

Location: South Africa
Now according to the guide on this forum I need to flash to a rootable rom as I am on a model that is not directly rootable?
It says I must flash to a directly rootable rom. But I dont know where I can find this rom?
If you could be so kind if you are in the know and provide me with a detailed idiot proof guide to root my device?
You can follow the instruction in this website:
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-method-2odinheimdall/

search for one click root, this was the old one click method for rooting froyo if my memory serves me right.....just make sure as always you read what it says....and i have a feeling someone updated it recently to work on gb so there may be 2 versions out there, or upgrade to gingerbread with odin and use a cf root....you can find a firmware for your country at samfirmware.com

[stock rom][2.3.6] P1000BUJQ3_P1000BUJQ1_P1000TCLJQ1

Hi xda-developers,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab (P1000) (hw ver. rev1.2), provided by Vodafone Portugal, and I want exploit the device by installing custom ROMs.
But as you can imagine, I want to be sure that I can revert the device to this state whenever I want. And this is my problem....
I've been searched for tutorials how to do this, but i could not find this specific ROM.
Info after pressing *#1234# :
Firmware Version:
PDA - P1000BUJQ3
PHONE - P1000BUJQ1
CSC - P1000TCLJQ1
Android version is 2.3.6 and carrier is Vodafone Portugal
I also went to a Vodafone forum, and they suggested an alternative by asking a previous version ROM to Samsung (unlikelly): Android 2.2, P1000BUJI4+P1000TCLJI1
I also can't get this one.
Questions:
Do you have any sugesttions where can I get this stock ROM (preference 2.3.6)?
What does people like me normally do in this sittuations on their devices?
Is there any Stock Rom without carrier (directly from Samsung)? Can I install another P1000 stock rom from another carrier (I don't like this sollution) ?
Let me just say this.
You P1000 is no different than all the P1000 talked about here.
Just read all some if the threads here and you know what to do.

Thanks priyana, but I want to preserve the original ROM for a eventual revert, and that's what I can't find in any P1000 thread.

Thanks nurusz, but I don't want how to flash the P1000;
What I want is the stock ROM for P1000, carrier Vodafone Portugal (TCL), no matter what version (2.2 or 2.3) and not-rooted
I have 2.3 now in my P1000 (that was never flashed before (only updated via Kies)).
Does anyone provide me any reliable solution to this?
Thank you!
