OK, I think I have fixed it, so now it should install apps to system correctly. I tested it on my Revo and seemed to work for me. Please let me know if you have any issues on the issue tracker.

Sorry for the noob question but what does it mean to "Mount the system rw"? I have my phone plugged in with debugging mode on. Installed the vcredist. The phone is rooted. What else do I need to do before I can start uninstalling apps??

you have to mount the /system partition read/write. and you can use RomToolBox to mount /system easily

edit: nvm, found it in the scripter section, theres a script that mounts system read write.

Long time lerker, first time poster. I have been active on AndroidCentral, but need help from the experts in XDA.
I am running Nookie Froyo off the card. Everything is running great except the google market is absolutely TERRIBLE. It is missing tons of apps. Therefore, I was going through the directions posted in the forum...i.e. change the build.prop file
I can open Root Explorer, then can open /system; but then I can NOT mount as rw. When I hit Mount as rw the button lights up but will NOT switch it to rw. Therefore, I can not rewrite the needed file. Any help? Ideas?
Any other options to get Market to show more apps?

Does Root Explorer have Superuser permissions? If so you might try wiping data with Titanium BU or uninstalling and reinstalling RE.

If I remember right, superuser is linked to busybox. Try going to Titanium BU and choose problems tab. Update busybox and see if that makes any difference. Grasping for straws here.

I assume you have tried rebooting. Other things maybe to try; run the fix permissions utility in Rom Manager (some have had new issues after this, most don't); Get the new market apk on the "themes and apps" forum if you don't have one and try to install it with root explorer from your download after a short press. Is your 2.1 stock or rooted? If rooted, pull your nookie card and try to update from 2.1. If none of those work, I would not have any other ideas. Good luck.
Had the same problem a while back. Installed busybox from the market and it seemed to fix Root Explorer. Maybe using Titanium Backup to get busybox isn't working. I'd try getting busybox straight from the market...
I used SuperOneClick to root my optimus 2x, but I would like temporarily to unroot it. I used the unroot feature in SuperOneClick, but noticed that it does not remove busybox. What is the proper way to completely remove it from the system? Do I need to root the phone again and run certain commands, or is there an application that can do this?
Try remove every file in /system/xbin.. i realize after wiping to factory default, the folder is empty..

Just busybox evidently, but I'm not sure it is possible without root lol. AFAIK you can leave it, as it can't work without Superuser... Or you need to have a clean phone to have it back for a repair?
re-root, rm /system/bin/busybox, un-root.

Hi,
I have never had of problems to there but here it's my turn!
Overnight, I have anymore root access on my tablet, all my apps which need a mode privilege for great user are refused.
I tried:
- Fix permission in recovery mode
- In the parameters of the Rom, I have authorize in the options for developpeurs root access (nothing then applications and ADB)
- Change Rom of 19 august to September 03rd
And nothing changes!!!
Please if anybody knows how to return back the root access for my Rom PLEASE?

Have you checked the options in Superuser? If you swipe over to the left there is an info tab with "temp u root". You should check that out...

Same thing on the tablet, bad file, can't open.
Please, could you re upload ?
I found on google, I installed but doesn't works
I'd take a full nandroid backup, then reinstall CM9 completely and see if that fixes your issue. If it doesn't, you'll have the backup to restore to.

Ok, I'll do this, but in recovry mod (CWM), I can't find where I can format the system ?
I have successfully rooted and expected to be able to enter apps and easily remove the annoying sprint apps..but I can't . Anyone advise on how to make this happen?
Thank you.
I use root explorer and make sure you change to rw NOT r/o
remove from data/app
Um, do you mean system/app? my data/app folder is empty. And all I have to do is delete file?

Also, if you're on rooted stock (you didn't flash a rom from android development), make sure to disable system write protection.

I suggest freezing an app, to see if it doesn't effect anything else, with Titanium Backup before you decide you delete as well.

Use Titanium Backup to freeze apps you don't want. Use your phone for a day or two to make sure there are no I'll effects. Then use Titanium again to backup and remove the apps.
