Damn... already? I just flashed 2231 this morning.

SIGH....Without being able to flash back to 905 this isn't good news.

Not necessarily...though it doesn't look good. Glad I didn't flash yet.

I guess one could keep going or stay put. Others reporting so few if any issues with 1st leak.

10 to 1 this new leak won't install over the last. It will be made for 905 which is the last official release. I hope I'm wrong. But....

I am kind of glad that I have not taken the plunge then. What was the problem you had Sam that makes you so leery of leaks? If you do not mind me asking of course.

When 5.5.893, 5.7.893, and 5.8.894 were leaked I jumped on the bandwagon and went to 5.7.893. Then we found out that 5.5.893 was going to be the official patch. And at that point none of us on 5.7.893 or 5.8.894 were on the OTA path anymore. No FXZ file existed back then and the method to put us back on the OTA path was literally just an idea at the time. Well, I wanted to do my part to help out so I jumped on trying to get my Bionic back on the path using the methods. *I* screwed up and ended up bricking my Bionic. For 36 hours I was completely screwed and VZW even offered to replace the phone under warranty even after they knew what I'd done to it. However, someone then posted a FXZ method and I was able to recover my Bionic and get it back on the OTA path. I returned the replacement without even opening it. It was an atypical experience for those off the path, but, with no method back right now, I'm going to wait until there is. Those who updated to the first leak are about to get a lesson in why patience is good with leaks on Moto phones. I feel for every single person and hope to GOD the community gets them back on track quickly.

as soon as you get the file uploaded im fzxing and installing. I will let everyone know how it works

SamuriHL (now temporary) bricking was legendary....

SIGH. I LOVE this community. They brought me back from my own stupidity. But if I didn't learn from that experience and share it with others, I'd be doing everyone a disservice. Please don't think I'm the naysayer here. I'm really not. I'm SUPER excited by these leaks. Just...cautious.

i flashed 2231 and it's awesome...even if i'm stuck there forever, i'm happy

With this community, not likely forever. Not even close. But maybe for a bit until someone figures out a way back.

The File you have posted there seems to be the .905 GB download if I'm not mistaken.
you're mistaken.
That is the OS you need to be on to update to the new update. That's how Moto numbers their OS's. Where you're coming from.
I'll post back after I make sure razr edge roots it and I wanna see if you can fxz back to .902.
I was happy with .230 except for the email issue I had with apostrophes.
I thought it was going to be another boring Friday night
My Bad
Seems you are right. My Bad.
Downloading now.
Didnt mean to come off as an azz. Was just playin' I'm so excited.
I was able to root with razrs edge and read a report that you can FXZ back to .902.
I have successfully FXZ'd back to .902
You're good.
Any idea of changes from .230 to .232?

Dude. I used another method to root I saw in a different forum. You root with motofail after you accept the 905 ota. Then backup root with voodoo app. Undo root. Install ics update. Then restore root with voodoo. Works really easily. I'm still on 2233 running aokp nightly and no problems whatsoever.

AUGH. I just put 230 on my phone last night. But I did it with moto-fastboot and no data loss, so I may just update now. Why not?
And the ICS root method for mac doesn't seem to work, so I downloaded the windows version, opened up the batch file, and copy-pasted the adb commands into terminal.
Can someone please post another download link please all the ones i have seen don't work anymore?

Really?... Or is that a joke that I don't understand because it came through the internet.

And I managed to get this mirror online before I finished the partial 902 restore. (Then again I had to do that "by hand" with moto-fastboot, per the RootzWiki thread's instructions that now have a strike through them for some reason)

What i did was try to thank you twice. The first one showed fine, then the second time i hit "thanks" it said the "thanks action denied". Then my first one disappeared. So it was like i didn't hit it at all. But after i signed back in again it shows the first one. I'm using tapatalk on my RAZR. I'd do a screenshot but its a pop up message that only appears for a second. At least you know i was trying to be grateful! Lol

To update or not to update

Ok so on my birthday my Bionic took a dump on me and I had to go to Best Buy to get a new one shipped to me. The question is now should I put the ICS update one it?
On my previous Bionic I had .232 so I could go back to .905 (as far as I know that is the last leak to be able to go back to .905). My argument is that being so close to the OTA.
Having my Mac bootcamped I can go back to 905 if I need to.
I would def go to ICS .232 I haven't heard about being able to go back if needed after that ICS update. I know .232 isn't the most stable/best of the ICS builds but mine works very well and I know I can go back if needed. The update is taking way to long for me I have been on ICS for months now and can't imagine not having it. Funny when I grab my brother's and see GB I think man this phone sucks lol.

Got my email for the soak as well
im just waiting for the email now

Request for Jelly Bean ROOT.

I am one of them, who have lost root after jelly bean OTA update. I was tired of waiting for the root, so I decided to email Mr. Dan Rosenberg, the master of root exploits. And they replied me as following:-
Hi Samrath,

No kidding. Installing updates always removes root access unless you
take steps to preserve it (OTA RootKeeper, etc.).
> I request you to make a root exploit for Droid Bionic. I would be very

I think you mean "every Bionic owner who rooted their device and didn't
know enough to not preserve root through an update".
> Please, at least reply me if possible.

I might have a solution for you in the next few days, but I'm getting
tired of this game. Don't expect every build of every device to be
rootable. If you have root, make sure you take steps to ensure you can
keep it before installing an update.

Now we have the only hope from Dan, Let's see what happens.
All I can say is that since you had the balls to email him about root after he said he was going to retire, you'd better pony up a few dollars to donate to him when/if he does come through with Bionic JB Root.

Dan shouldn't have to help no one for nothing. And the only people he should ever consider helping is another dev so that his knowledge and skills lives on. For this person to email him is utter disrespect. Let the man be ffs.
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
I'm not counting on him to do it because he doesn't have to. I'm just curious as to how many people are halfway rooted and don't know it because root checker says they aren't but don't actually try any root apps. Root checker says I'm not but I'm still able to do many root activities.
But if someone was going to email home about it, they should have at least mentioned that voodoo was only working for some people and not for others.

Giant big balls to put it out there to him, so kudos for that. Very kind response all things considered. SamuriHL had a bit of a work around posted in another forum recently, that involved a hybrid flash using the House of Bionic suite. Wonder if it's based on that somehow. But I'll pony up dough for a root, no doubt.
Well, I wouldn't have emailed him direct (I'm sure he's busy with other things), but I'm also one who plans on donating if we get another exploit.

Just curious. I've had my Bionic for some time now and it is completely stock with the new JB OTA. I was thinking about rooting it for the first time. But, from what I am reading it seems like this would be impossible. Is this true?

That's true, at this point. There is a root exploit that's currently being worked on that will hopefully make it possible in the near future. Be patient and read a lot.

ZV7 Discussion

No, ZV7 is not out yet. But it is in development as indicated by the new RDF.
http://device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS991-SPRINT/LS991ZV7.rdf
Now I checked a few days ago and this wasn't here. It's also noteworthy that with the H815 getting 6.0 this might be what's coming our way. We saw something similar when ZV8 came out for the G3, it was a different version on the RDF. I'll try and poke the bear, see what I can find out.
In the meantime let the speculation begin!
I wouldn't hold my breath for M --YET-- it's way to soon. Besides inside the rdf file it says 5.1. Probably just additional security updates, and perhaps some additional enhancements like we had with ZV5 & ZV6. I do like your speculation though. ?

With M out already for the global version and it supposedly out in short order afterwards for US... Well, stranger thing have happened.
I just hope the exploits we use to DD the custom ROMs doesn't get patched with 5.1 update, could be a prep for M complete with security fixes. If so I may pass on the update and or M. Just my opinion only time will tell....
OK. G3 is now showing an update ALSO in the works. And what two devices are supposed to get M first for LG?
If that's not M it's a fix that affects them both... Stagefright's already patched so not sure what other big ones are out there.

Android Pie OTA

Motorola is being unbearably slow about their Pie rollout, so here we go.
Do NOT try to downgrade back to Oreo if you've already taken the update.
If you haven't updated yet, please be sure that you will not want to return back to Oreo once you've used the guide below.
Thanks @smyaknti for the tip.
Prerequisites:
1. 100% Stock ROM with no system modifications of any kind.
2. This file is only for the Indian variant of the Motorola One Power.
3. You should already have the September security patch update installed on your device.
Please don't install this over the August security patch update.
https://mega.nz/#!k403FKCQ!9myFzAcCEhMk_EJ2Rl8miRO4dCqZoga-MOvli1SD3_8
1. Download from link and move it to root of your internal storage(not in any folder like Downloads etc). Put it outside all folders.
2. Go to Settings>Apps&notifications>Show all apps>3dot menu(top right of the screen)>show system apps
3. Find Motorola Update Services and give it storage permission.
4. Go to Updates screen and check for update. It will show up. Install as any normal OTA. Enjoy Pie!
I've installed Pie on my own device using the same file and the same method. So it's tested by me.
For users who are currently using Magisk to root their devices, this method is not for you. You'll have to return back to full stock using fastboot images.
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for anything you install on your device. Use at your own risk.

Stupid admins on that forum. Merging threads that have no relation to each other just to hide bugs in Moto's software.
People on OnePlus' forum share ota links freely and no one complains.
They banned me for distrubiting pirated software  If it wasn't the official OTA file, it wouldn't have installed from within the system and with a locked bootloader. It's gonna look pretty stupid when that same firmware is distributed few days later

I agree. I'm just waiting for the warranty to expire so that I can move to a custom ROM like LineageOS.

You'll have to wait for a year to do so, lol.
Well I'm gonna wait for the lineage to release.

Haha, yeah.
I previously had a Moto X and you might not believe, I had to get the motherboard replaced 4 times under warranty. So I think keeping the warranty intact is the way to go because even Motorola's hardware can't be trusted.

I guess that's pretty good for you.
But how did you manage to do both the things?
I means losing your motherboard 4 times and get it repaired every time ? ??
That's some nasty thing you did there buddy.

Motorola is being unbearably slow about their Pie rollout, so here we go.
Requirements: 100% Stock ROM with no system modifications of any kind.

I don't think this is the OTA. Or is it?
It's only around 700mb.
Please update the link. I would be grateful.
Thanks in advance.

The hardware kept failing randomly so I had to get in touch with some superiors at the company who helped me get my replacement motherboards in time. But the entire process was still a pain to go through.

Okay so I downloaded it anyway and pasted it in the root storage.
I only have one question. HOW DID THEY FIT ANDROID PIE IN 700MB ZIP?
Please share more screenshots.

Yup, this is the official OTA. I have installed it myself and it works perfectly.

It works fine for me. Your ISP must be blocking Mega. Are you using Jio to download?
