With the issues with Nook resetting (to stock) are there any recommendations on using Titanium Backup? I had heard if you do it wrong it can mess up your nook registration.

Not sure what you are asking ...
TiBackup can only be used on a rooted android device.
If you have rooted and have TiBu working and plan to reset/reroot, you can use it to backup the USER apps and data. Then if you reset and reroot you can easily reinstall the USER apps (after you DL TiBackup again or if you have backed up TiBackup with something like Astro).
You can get into trouble using TiBu to backup device (system) apps and/or data and you should not do this .. hope this helps.

Yes it does, I have it run nightly at 3 am. But I am not sure if it is a feature of the paid or free. I bought it right off the bat
Would backing up this folder enough to restore apps after wiping and flashing a new rom? I know this can be done via Titanium back up app, but all 3rd party apk apps are installed in this folder.

no parts of apps are installed elsewhere too such as custom folders or dbdata..
and some apps are installed to sd.
use titanium backup, mybackup pro, or appmgr to back up apps

Are there any reasons why we can't just back up a folder and then restore it which is a much easier step than working with Titanium etc...But I've the feeling that it's not that obvious and ta echnical whizzkid who would like to enlighten us about this would be greatly appreciated...
You can save your APKs in a folder you can copy them back but you have not installed them .

Some apk apps install just by tapping on them or is there a technical reason this should be avoided

Here is a DIY method to back up your apps manually. This should put this topic to rest. RIP!

Hi,
I'm wondering how you guys are backing up your stuff? I recently went from stock to maverick rom but it took me 30min+ to get everything back to the way it was. There must be a better way?
Is there any fast way to backup/restore the following (e.g. with titanium backup):
- Restore homescreen (app shortcuts?)
- Android settings (display, ringtone, vibrate, keyboard etc.)
- Accounts (e-mail, exchange sync, etc)
- Phone numbers (yes I know you can import, but it's yet another step)
- Saved texts
Thanks!

I only use TiBu for apps and data, but you might have problems restoring data between ROMs. Sorry I can't help ya.

I've been using AppExtractor, it will restore apps data and system data from a nandroid. Well worth it, only 2 bucks.

Well appdata isn't my problem as titanium backup handles that fine.
It's the things I mentioned in the first post.
You guys really go through all the menu's to change the settings everytime you install a new ROM? I can't believe that

All day, erry day. Haha, yeah that's what I do. I don't install new ROMs very often, so it's completely fine with me. I just restore my apps and their data.
Bump.. will backing up mms.apk (using aosp sms) with titanium save all my texts?
I use TB for my apps/data. I use ADW/Ex so my home screen's restored when I do my apps
I use MyBackupPro for Call Log/SMS/MMS's
Email, i typically setup from scratch if jumping to a new base ROM (Moto Blur - CM7)
When just flashing a new version of same rom, i usually just backup and restore it with TB as well.
System settings, ringtones, and other misc stuff, haven't really found a good way to do that works consistantly.

Specifically it is [SMS/MMS/APN]Dialer Storage, a reboot/hot boot is needed after restoring it.

Contacts Storage is for the calllog not sure which of the other Contacts acutally resotore contacts but all four wont hurt as long as only data is restored for them. Anything WIFI can cause issue so I'd avoid that. Thats all I usually all I restore as far as system data.
Okai new question.. Everytime I restore I have to press INSTALL, then DONE. (just like when you normally install an app). I have to do this for ALL my apps ( so 50++ times). Surely this isn't normal?
Hit the menu button and select Batch. From there, you can select batch restore, and it will run on its own. Just be sure to comb through the list and deselect and apps you DON'T want restored, like Blur apps etc.

You mean purchasing the app will remove the prompt??
Most third party launchers will let you backup your home screen setups

It might...that's why I mentioned batch restore, but I also have the Pro key, so it may very well disable the prompt.

You're on CM9 right? TiBu should be able to backup Trebuchet or Nova (if you're using that), and you should be able to just restore your former setup from there. That's how I restored my Nova setup after a clean wipe for the latest CM9 build...

I love my HD2 and i always flash it~
In order to increase speed and avoid widget Disappear of A2SD+, I put a lot of common apps into ROM by using Titanium Backup.
But after I install the New ROM,i need to restore them one by one.
In Titanium Backup batch function, System apps won't get restored in Batch. Only system settings + data will get restored in batch.
I mean can we batch backup system/app and restore(include changed data) to system/app ???
Is there another backup software can batch data apps move to the rom As Well As batch restore apps into the rom? Thank you.

I've been using Titanium Backup for the past few years, but I don't won't to root my M8. Is there a similar app you guys recommend in the Google Play Store that will backup my apps + data w/out me having to root my device?

Isn't there a non-rooted version of titanium Backup that would backup all your downloaded apps? If not there are plenty of apps out there. My backup for one
I think Helium may work but you need a computer if the phone isn't rooted.

I used to use MyBackup a lot, though I used the root version. It works, but it's not as easy at the HTC Backup.
I've had good luck with HTC Backup linked to Dropbox and/or Drive. However, it doesn't always restore ALL of my apps. It consistently leaves off about 5 or so with each restore. I have no idea why. It's not biggie as I can just download them manually. I like that it restores my homescreens including widgets and it restores all my saved wifi locations.
