[Q] Titanium Backup - Nook Color General

With the issues with Nook resetting (to stock) are there any recommendations on using Titanium Backup? I had heard if you do it wrong it can mess up your nook registration.

Not sure what you are asking ...
TiBackup can only be used on a rooted android device.
If you have rooted and have TiBu working and plan to reset/reroot, you can use it to backup the USER apps and data. Then if you reset and reroot you can easily reinstall the USER apps (after you DL TiBackup again or if you have backed up TiBackup with something like Astro).
You can get into trouble using TiBu to backup device (system) apps and/or data and you should not do this .. hope this helps.

Yes it does, I have it run nightly at 3 am. But I am not sure if it is a feature of the paid or free. I bought it right off the bat

wiping/restoring settings

Attempting to root the phone, but apprently unlocking the bootloader wipes the phone, how would I backup/restore and settings? such as handcent, contacts, apps etc
This might not help since I haven't ran non rooted android in over a year. I do know for the apps you can use app manager or any other type. I use app manager to backup app to sd. Then when when root just install app manager first then mass install all the apps I was running. also handy when setting up app 2sd

root is required to run titanium backup...seems he may be in a catch-22.
I assume all of your contacts are sync'd with your google account, yeah? If so, do this...
look up wavesecure in the market. Install it and set it up. Accounts are free for only a week or so longer. This is an app you should have anyways. Once setup, backup your sms/mms. If you don't care about your texts, then ignore this setup. Once you are setup again, install this app. If your phone ever goes missing, you will hate yourself for not using it.
Now move forward with your unlocking, rooting, flashing, etc. Once you are setup, purchase a backup solution (my backup or titanium) and take full advantage of it Of course, setup wavesecure to restore if you backup up your texts.
oops... my bad... guess I wasn't thinking... or reading properly...

Easiest way to transfer data from G1 to N1

I recently got an N1 and I need to transfer my apps & data to it from my G1. Installing the apps are no problem but I would really like to avoid losing app data and starting again.
So what would be the easiest way to go around copying the app data to the N1?
Thanks
go to the market and download titanium backup, then visit the authors website and purchase a licence key(he sent me mine in <10 mins)
with this app and the licence key you cna do a batch backup of all your apps and data, and you can just pop your sdcard into your n1 and do a batch restore and all your apps and data will be restored to the same specifications as they were on your g1

You're right.
Titanium, the mentioned app above, REQUIRES ROOT ACCESS!!!
There are other apps, but I've never tried them.
I've rooted all my Androidâ„¢ phones, and Titanium is what I've used for them all.
Thanks for the info guys. I haven't rooted my phone yet in case I have problems and need to return it. I will root it in about a weeks time if no problems pop up.
Use an app called appmonster to back them up and then to restore them use that same app. its free but you dont get the batch install. but the paid one does. Thats what i used to use before i found titanium.

best app to backup all apps/settings.

just wondering if anyone has some input as to what the best app to backup all my setting/apps.
If rooted, Titanium Backup is great!

I also agree with Titanium Backup.
The small donation is REALLY recommended.
I flash a new ROM maybe, once a month, or every few weeks.
I tinker with alot of apps, ROMs and things. SO I'm always messing with my Nexus.
Having the latest of my favorite apps + data, is crucial to me.
After flashing a new ROM, or upgrade, i ALWAYS WIPE. Even though they often say you don't need to, but I do anyways, just because I don't mind starting fresh.
It takes me no more then 10-15 minutes to restore a couple dozen apps + data
Titanium Backup.
/end thread
EDIT: One note when using Titanium Backup: When you load a new ROM, don't just restore everything that you backed up. Some times the new ROM may have newer versions of systems files or things like the browser and such, so you wouldn't want to revert back to your old version. I usually hit "restore all apps and system data", then deselect all and hand pick what I want to restore (a good time for ****ty app clean up too). Common things to restore other than your favorite apps (with data) are browser bookmarks, call log, sms log etc.
Titanium here as well

thanks alot, i will download titanium backup now and check it out.
thanks for it
I'm using MIUI and MIUI backup also best.
What would be the best option if you're not rooted? I want to unlock my bootloader and root to be able to use root apps but otherwise remain stock, what could I use to backup and restore for the data wipe that unlocking it will do?
Can't do anything to back up apps data without root, sorry. Root privileges are required to access that data. You could only backup phonebook/call log/sms/etc.

Welp. At least the apps that actually require effort to set up (launcher pro, widgetsoid, minimal text) all have xml export.
+1 on Titanium Backup, worth every penny for paid version.

Titanium Backup from JH7 to Cog 9.1.3

I'm considering flashing to cognition 9.1.3. I have already backed up my android id. But my question is:
Can I backup some of my apps with titanium and then restore them on cognition?
Thanks
I'm certainly no expert but i'm pretty sure thats how it works.

You can, but there are some you should not. Specifically, don't restore any that end with 2.1 update1 in the name. As you browse down through the list of files to restore, you may find 6-8. Specifically, some are Google apps.
Also, do not restore system settings.
I have had best luck if I unselect all red apps (typically system type apps); and the ones I mentioned above.

The gist would be restore missing apps only, don't do apps and system data to avoid problems.
Restoring all apps and system data can resort in continuous force.close messages and near inoperability. BE CAREFUL!!! best to just restore apps.

titanium backup issues

Hello. I searched but didn't find a solution. Titanium backup has been able to restore applications with magisk installed but not the data. Any way to get around this and have the data restored too?
Thx!
Did you ever get a fix for this? I have the same issue on 14.2 on the Pixel XL.

No. I'm surprised nobody answered...
With titaniumbuckup i have issu, when i delate system apps and reboot phone apps still no remowe.
Which apps are you taking about?
Titanium doesn't backup nor restore Device-Encrypted data from /data/user_de. If the apps you're trying to backup store their data there, Titanium won't help.
By the way, is anyone aware of a root backup app that takes care of Device-Encrypted data? I haven't found any yet.

TiBu backup and restore of system apps has been broken for years. At least for me.
Delete the files with a root file manager.
Titanium backup won't help if you do an operation in /system partion (e.g restoring system apps, freezing system apps, etc.) That's is Magisk work (to be systemless). You can do operations in Titanium backup in /data partition.
This is why the app won't delete after reboot.

I'm talking about regular, non-system applications. TiBu says it successfully restored the application yet when I open it does not have the old data...

Well I just tried USAA and a basic setting change (device nickname) was preserved after a restore.
Now, some apps encrypt their data with the device ID or some other ID that may change across a data reset or across devices. Or they store some credentials in the Android Key Store which Titanium cannot access.
It would make sense for financial apps to use the system key store to store your credentials or a key to encrypt ask the data they store on you.
BTW, USAA contains a buttload of trackers and other "analytics" frameworks.

It's good practice to make a backup before modifying your device.
