Hello. I searched but didn't find a solution. Titanium backup has been able to restore applications with magisk installed but not the data. Any way to get around this and have the data restored too?
Thx!
Did you ever get a fix for this? I have the same issue on 14.2 on the Pixel XL.

No. I'm surprised nobody answered...
With titaniumbuckup i have issu, when i delate system apps and reboot phone apps still no remowe.
Which apps are you taking about?
Titanium doesn't backup nor restore Device-Encrypted data from /data/user_de. If the apps you're trying to backup store their data there, Titanium won't help.
By the way, is anyone aware of a root backup app that takes care of Device-Encrypted data? I haven't found any yet.

TiBu backup and restore of system apps has been broken for years. At least for me.
Delete the files with a root file manager.
Titanium backup won't help if you do an operation in /system partion (e.g restoring system apps, freezing system apps, etc.) That's is Magisk work (to be systemless). You can do operations in Titanium backup in /data partition.
This is why the app won't delete after reboot.

So how tempomary off magisk without reboot for titanium buckup do someting in/system partition ?
I'm talking about regular, non-system applications. TiBu says it successfully restored the application yet when I open it does not have the old data...

Well I just tried USAA and a basic setting change (device nickname) was preserved after a restore.
Now, some apps encrypt their data with the device ID or some other ID that may change across a data reset or across devices. Or they store some credentials in the Android Key Store which Titanium cannot access.
It would make sense for financial apps to use the system key store to store your credentials or a key to encrypt ask the data they store on you.
BTW, USAA contains a buttload of trackers and other "analytics" frameworks.

It's good practice to make a backup before modifying your device.

Will batch work on the TB free version?
If I remember correctly - in free version you can batch backup, but you can't batch restore, or the batch restore is limited speed.
When you batch restore with the free version, you have to confirm each one. Fun.

Thanks Man
Menu > Batch > Backup all user apps + system data : is there any difference between this and a nandroid backup? i mean does it make an image with EVERYTHING you have on your phone?
No it doesn't make an image of everything on the phone like a nandroid backup
A nandroid backup backs up the system, data, cache, and a few other things like ext and recovery depending on how you set it but a titanium backup just backs up apps and data (which are on the data and cache partitions).
You can also create an update.zip to put in your recovery folder and flash that way too. You can set a schedule to back up new, new versions or all. IMHO, pay the money. It has helped me in several instances. You can convert system to data or vice versa, un/attach apps to market and my favorite is you can clean your Dex right from the app.
Somewhere way back I thought folks were having issues restoring System with TB and recommended just doing apps/data--
Right or Wrong?
I like MyBackUp Pro as a quicker (non-nandroid) bu of system/sms/mms/call logs/home screens/settings etc

Well, the issue is that some of the restored settings were conflicting with what was in there. If you restore system back to the same version (of CM or Android), then it should be problem free. But if you are restoring between nightlies of CM or major releases of stock, then options may have changed and restoring *can* cause conflicts that result in funky operations or bootloops. This doesn't happen all the time, but it has happened enough to me that I don't recommend it.
My recommendation is to just backup all your apps and app data (I also include TB's backup of wifi access points, bluetooth pairings, google accounts, call logs and sms messages). It really doesn't take too long to go and check all your settings. Plus it gives you the opportunity to see what new features were added.
And in all honesty, I am not sure MyBackup Pro would be any different in the above... both just backup the data and restore it. I think if one were to cause an issue, the other one would as well.
Thanks for info bass,
I never restore system with TB, only backup/restore apps--no issues
I started using My BackUp before rooted, so as to have a bu of things if root went wrong. Just kept using it
Never had an issue restoring system with My BackUp, even after a month of nightlies
Main thing I like it for is Home Screens--saves time after fresh flash

That is definitely a benefit to using a 3rd-party launcher. I use ADW EX and everything for that app is saved in the app data, so as soon as I restore the app I am back to normal (well, except for my widgets and the background, but there are only two widgets that I use). But I do definitely sympathize on not wanting to redo all your settings. I hate it when I forget something simple like changing the wifi back to never turn off.
Agreed--
I use ADW with CMN's but not EX. Haven't looked real close at its restore capabilities. But, My Back Up does CM/Sense/MIUI restores with Home Screens with no problems
Just comfortable with it--
titanium backup restored my adw ex just fine minus the widgets.
thank you i was looking for that.
I'm considering flashing to cognition 9.1.3. I have already backed up my android id. But my question is:
Can I backup some of my apps with titanium and then restore them on cognition?
Thanks
I'm certainly no expert but i'm pretty sure thats how it works.

You can, but there are some you should not. Specifically, don't restore any that end with 2.1 update1 in the name. As you browse down through the list of files to restore, you may find 6-8. Specifically, some are Google apps.
Also, do not restore system settings.
I have had best luck if I unselect all red apps (typically system type apps); and the ones I mentioned above.

The gist would be restore missing apps only, don't do apps and system data to avoid problems.
Restoring all apps and system data can resort in continuous force.close messages and near inoperability. BE CAREFUL!!! best to just restore apps.

With the issues with Nook resetting (to stock) are there any recommendations on using Titanium Backup? I had heard if you do it wrong it can mess up your nook registration.

Not sure what you are asking ...
TiBackup can only be used on a rooted android device.
If you have rooted and have TiBu working and plan to reset/reroot, you can use it to backup the USER apps and data. Then if you reset and reroot you can easily reinstall the USER apps (after you DL TiBackup again or if you have backed up TiBackup with something like Astro).
You can get into trouble using TiBu to backup device (system) apps and/or data and you should not do this .. hope this helps.

Yes it does, I have it run nightly at 3 am. But I am not sure if it is a feature of the paid or free. I bought it right off the bat
(I posted a similar topic here: forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/116749-launchers-crash-no-matter-what/)
I use various CM versions on my Nook HD+, including the stable 10.2.1, the Unofficial 12.0 and 12.1 versions, and several nightlies. I was just getting more stuff from Google Play when things started crashing. So I rebooted my tablet, hoping to clear up some problems. I choose a launcher, and it says "Unfortunately, Trebuchet has stopped."
I have more than one launcher, so I tried them all. Same type of error. I've flashed different versions of CM in an attempt to clear up the problem, but to no avail. My tablet is pretty much unusable now. I need help! Any suggestions are welcome.
Did you do "wipe /data & factory reset" when going between CM10 and CM12.x?
No, because I haven't made a backup, yet. I have personal data I want to save.

You need to wipe /data when upgrading or downgrading between major releases of CM.

I don't mean to question your response, but I am curious - How will wiping my Nook fix the launcher problem? I was hoping for a simpler solution.

The HD+'s /data partition holds the apps -- including launcher apps -- and their data/settings (to see all the apps in the partition, just browse the /data/app folder using a file-manager app that has "root explorer" permission enabled).
Wiping /data forces a clean re-install of the apps and re-initialization of their data/settings which otherwise might be incompatible with the newly flashed ROM version.

I think I know what you're saying, but please clarify: Does wiping /data delete the installed apps, or merely the data they store? If the latter is true, what should I avoid doing if I want to keep my apps? I'm trying to be careful not to get rid of the apps themselves, as I have so many (some are paid apps, and I really don't want to have to pay for them again).
A "wipe" re-formats the partition so the partition's content -- the apps as well as their data/settings -- will effectively disappear.
For all apps (whether free or paid) acquired from Google Play store (and Amazon App store) you should be able to re-download them at no-charge. If you have enabled the "Backup and Restore" option for Google Play store on your current ROM, typically your apps will be automatically re-downloaded to your device after you sign in (to Google Play store) on the new (or newly re-flashed) ROM. However, the apps' personalized settings will not be restored and you will have to re-enter them.

Where should I look for personalized settings? I can access CM's file manager via a startup manager, if that helps.

The apps and their data are in their respective individual folders in /data/app folders, but are unlikely stored in user-readable format.

I don't care if they're in a format that I can open; I merely want to copy this info elsewhere, so I can restore it when the data is wiped. In fact, I might be able to figure out which app is causing the problem (if it is an app).

The simplest way to backup and restore an app and its data/settings is to use a Backup/Restore app such as Titatium Backup.
Ahhh, my first query... I'm getting misty-eyed.
I'm looking for a good backup app in which i can even save my apps data to my pc, because im gonna root my Moto g5s plus and i want to save everything and then install my apps data, images, music, apps, etc when the root is done
