[Q] about rocket rom v7 - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
i am coming from RocketROM v3 ICS and i installed RocketROM v7 ICS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654838
i did :
- boot in Recovery
- Wipe Cache and Dalvik only
- Flash ROM
- reboot system
but its still V3
what should i do?

After flashing the ROM, do another cache wipe ( or a factory reset if you're on a safe kernel ).
If it still shows V3 after you've done it - then it's probably rom glitch.

After flashing the ROM, i did cache & dalvik wipe
same thing
nothing change

Perhaps you had a bad flash/download, try a new download and re-flash

It sounds like you are not fully rooted. With your existing setup, use Root Explorer to try to copy a small file into \system.
If this fails, and I think it might, you have lost root.
Use Odin to load a stock ROM and then re-root.
Check Rocket ROM thread for lots of similar cases.

i installed rocketrom v7. not i cant download any file bigger than 7mb through my mobile data network.. i am on vodafone australia. downloading on wifi is gud. it was working fine on darkyrom..any suggestion plz.

Please try to understand what I am saying! If you cannot copy a file into /system YOU ARE NOT ROOTED!
Please consult the MANY entries in the Rocket ROM thread about what to do - or just believe me when I say use ODIN to load a stock ROM and then re-root.

OK. It's clear that you are not fully rooted. Download and flash this ZIP version of SU.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1128883&stc=1&d=1339657219
If this does not fix the problem, use Odin to flash a Stock ROM (NOT a custom one and NOT a Custom kernel) and then re-root as you did originally and install ROM of your choice.

I have faced similar kind of issues...but dere is no problem with the rom itself.....here is wat i did to fix it...
Wipe Cache nd Dalvik Cache....Flash The the zip given in the above post...Reboot into recovery....Flash jBroid kernel cleaning script....then again wipe cache and dalvik....flash Franco Kernel V6....wipe cache and dalvik and reboot into recovery not from "advanced" but through the key combination....Now do a full wipe...(data,cache,dalvik) and after dat flash the Rom.zip nd reboot....Now you should have a V7 in system about...if u again lose root just once again flash dat SU zip without any sort of wipe....(press the THANKS button if helped)

Nope, I dont have cwm recovery on my phone, how to install it?
And is that OK if i perform full system format and only then will install new ROM trough ODIN?
Thanks
I'd just flash a rom that comes with cwm. There's plenty, then yes, Odin flash whatever rom you like.
download JVS from a xda thread or samfirmware.com
flash it via odin1.7 or odin1.8 with repartition ticket
there is many guides floating aaround searching is a good way to start
cheers

well if you have recovery 2e (go into recovery mode and the writing should be blue and say the the top recovery 2e) it's as simple as downloading ROM manager from the market, clicking flash clockwork mod, restarting then booting into recovery. if you're in 3e you might have to use odin
Thank you all! I made root and advanced recovery where I formatted system, made delvik cache, etc, cleaned everything and installed again 2.3.5 but i still receive original error...after call i loose connection and see that error "Sorry! The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." After i push "Force close" connection become available again...
That problem started when i installed 2.3, then i tried 2.3.4 and same error, now after system format on 2.3.5 same error..
Any ideas?

[Q] Note Root problems (After yellow triangle)

My note is 2.3.6 , N7000LA2, now kernel is XXKKA,
I am not an expert, so I rooted in a wrong way then causing yellow triangle, But i removed the triangle finally
Actually I want to flash andriod 4.0 / other ICS theme rom, what procedure I should do now??
1. Is my note not a correct kernel now??
(I feel that the battery consumed faster than before, & not as smooth as than before getting yellow triangle)
2. Can I use a regular way (using odin to root back the right kernel & flash rom)?
3. my cwm mgr is not working correctly, how should i do??
Please advise ..
Many Many many thanks!
Do you have root working now?
If yes, update CWM, you can get proper kernel from my thread 'How to Root'(c signature for link)
after that you can update to any ROM with CWM

Thank you so much!
My colleague's fd finally helped me flash a new kernel ([email protected]#3)
But I have some questions
1) which version is this kernel??
2) can i keep this kernel , then flash another 4.0 rom??
3) if i dont want to use odin (pc version) to flash, can i use mobile odin or cwm to flash?
what exact procedure i have to do?
please advise..
thanks !!!
this is abyssnote kernel, universal
you can use CWM to update 4.0 ROM, put file on SD card n boot in recovery.
select flash zip file, point to ROM file, confirm it by saying ye, done.
if get bootloop, wipe cache, wipe data (it will wipe off data so take backup b4 proceeding)
dr.ketan , really thanks for your prompt reply
but I am now in another bad situation..
I flashed something wrong & the note keep rebooting, & then now cannot get in the system , just stop at the N7000 welcome page,
But i can go to CWM recovery
get into recovery, wipe cache, wipe delvic cache
still not works wipe data (you will lose data) This is routine for 4.0 based ROM
And wat u mean by 'something wrong', you are not sure it was custom ROM file?
If nothing works then go to download mode n flash older Stock ROM with PC odin

Thanks dr.ketan!
But it is not 4.0 based rom yet, just a 2.3.6, official rom (before "broke" )
So, should i still follow your method to do??
or should i get into recovery, try to flash the stock rom N7000OZSLA2 ?
I think i flashed the wrong version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415567
Now I find I cant flash any rom by CWM....
"installation aborted"
Have u wipe data ? If not do it first thn flash stock rom using pc odin

thanks ketan!
I really didnt wipe data, but finally flash stock rom by pc odin
done by following your post , thats really useful!
I flash hk version LA2, but cant root
& then flash KJ1 Factoryfs, got the CWM
lastly I flash the abyssnote kernel
so is my SGN now contains a KJ1 rom?
can i flash back to LA2 without losing the root?
or is there any big differences between KJ1 & LA2??
& one more, I want to add the battery %, where can i find/search the suitable one for my SGN
Thanks!

One thing I want to ask :
Is any roms to flash can follow the below procedure?
or which situations cannot follow this procedure:
Thanks.
2. CWM recovery (you need Root + CWM on existing ROM. Get )
Download the ROM. Extract it.
Create folder /sdcard/external_sd/firmware (thats folder "firmware" (lowercase) on your external SD card) (see image)

[Q] "Fullwipe" Menu in Abyss Kernel4.2?

a) coming from a rooted GB-ROM:
- download Abyss Kernel 4.2 from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?c65mndvpk6ocbaa
- put zip-file on your USB-storage
- boot in Recovery
- Flash Abyss Kernel 4.2!!!
- boot back in recovery (you find this option under 'advanced')
- FullWipe
- Flash ROM
- reboot system
- ...you are done
==> there have been reported problems with a constantly rebooting system when doing installation coming from a GB-ROM as posted above! So the safe and 100% successful way is installing LPY Stock-ROM, root Stock ROM and then go on as described below under point b2). Do not ask for a tutorial on how to install and root LPY Stock ROM....it is describe enough here in Forum!

I would like to flash Charck's ICS XXLPY V4 because of simple ROM.
But I do not understand "Fullwipe" in the instruction.
Is there the exact menu "Fullwipe" after flashing Abyss Kernel4.2?
Or I have to click all wipe menu? (there are two wipe menu...)
And I would like to try to flash this ROM without the installation of LPY Stock-ROM.
Is there anyone who succeed this way?

"FullWipe" is not one of the exact menu. Go to wiping menus, you need to do all three separately: wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, then wipe dalvik cache.

CM9 > CM7 Galaxy Ace, help on this I am newbie on this stuffs

Hello, I am new on forum and just discovered about setting new ROMs on my cellphone (its a Galaxy Ace S5830), then I instantly installed CM9 ICS, but now I wanted to install this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583871...
The question is:
Can I install an lower ROM version? What I need to do?
I use the CWM 5.0 and when I try to format everything (cache/data/system/sd-ext), it gives an error on "sd-ext", then anyway I reboot the system and start on CWM 5.0 again, and click on "install update from sdcard" and select the ROM in zip mode of course, then it gives and "Installation aborted"...
for safety I don't want to try other things without consult other people's experience and as I am with my computer on the maintenance I don't have much time for running around searchings about this...
Thank you if you can help...

err, may be you should mount data and system before flashing the zip..
Go back to stock rom with odin then try to reflash again using cwm but only wiping, data + cache + dalvik cache
Sent from my GALAXY Ace.
I don't think you need to go back to stock for flashing cm7 over cm9,you are already on ext file system, just do a complete wipe(leave sd-ext if you don't have an ext partition on your sd card), also wipe cache and dalvik cache, then mount data and system and flash the cm7 rom.
That should do the job. Although don't act on my comment yet, wait for a senior member to approve of my statement here, i am a noob too.
P.S. Go for Apocalypse rom, both miracle and apocalypse are made by itasoulas but apocalypse is very new and very awesome rom.

[QUESTION] From ICS 4.0.4 to any gingerbread ROM Please help on procedure...

I have read particular threads here in xda note forum... and believe me, I am getting more and more confused on the procedure on how to get back to GINGERBREAD as I read more and more about this stuff... Forgive me, but my mind is only like PENTIUM 4, I dont really understand some High-level procedures...
So here is some details
Reason why to go back to GINGERBREAD:
Because I'm afraid that my Note has suffered "slight" emmc brick. I could not mount /system as R/W on root explorer and File expert or ES file Manager also tried remounting using terminal emulator...
History:
during my CRISKELO V8 days, I have flashed in CWM the "hacked S VOICE" and after reboot, experienced random reboots and FC's. and then it could not read my internal as well as my external memory card, and says i need to reformat it, so i reformat it and everything went well.. but still getting FC's and random reboots however it can now read my internal and external sd card, so to get rid of FC's and randome reboot I flashed Kingdroid v5.1.1 final version and everything went well, smooth and all running except that i noticed that i could not mount my /system as RW so decided to revert back to gingerbread.
Current Phone Info
pda: n7000xxlrg
phone: n7000xxlrb
csc: n7000dbtlrg
ROM: Kingdroid ICS Note Mania v5.1.1 lrg
KERNEL: speedmod-n7000-ics #k3-11
Android version; 4.0.4
Planned Procedure in reverting back to Gingerbread
1. Flashed Abyss kernel 4.2 (the one with touch type CWM) via PC ODin. (may increase flash counter but it doesnt matter)
2. boot in CWM and wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik
3. Install Gingerbread ROM.zip via CWM (probably Kingdroid gingerbread rom)
4. boot in CWM and wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik and reboot system
Please tell me if my procedure is correct and please advise me if i am missing something... I desperately need your help here guys... cause i dont wanna cause more trouble to my note as he suffered a lot...
THANK YOU!!!!

SuperSU : Installed correctly but failed to update binaries

Another thing is that i have no space left on my /system it is 100% used?? why is that?
does this means I have partial root??? If thats the case... then what can I do to obtain full root???
Thanks....

It seems like you don’t have full root. Revert back to GB. Root your device. Upgrade it to any ICS version. Remember to do full wipe on safe kernels. Not on stock ICS kernels.

Ok probably I would revert back to Gingerbread later, because i am at the office right now. I will follow your instruction on reverting to gingerbread and as of now I am downloading n7000dxlc2 2.3.6 for indonesia... but i am from Philippines will it work for me???
another question... why is my /system 100% used?? Is it because i do not wipe data/factory reset when i install ROMS and so some system files remains in my phone?? it is stated in ROM thread that it is ok to flash their ROM even without wiping.... its really weird...
Thanks Sir for your response:good:

For the first question . YES it will work for you.
Second after installing Rom you have to do all three Wipes for a clean install. Your system shows full because you didn't perform wipes after flashing

Its too early to come to the point that it is affected or not. First complete the steps. Root it. Then Try again in root explorer.

Hi there friend. . .
I have successfully flashed stock gingerbread and it is rooted. . . /system now can be mounted as rw i also tried to install ics now, however. . . If i flash a custom ics rom (kingdroid v5.1.1) the root is gone and /system is again read only and cannot mount as rw, I also tried kingdroid v7 ics but i am stucked at boot screen. . .
For your reference here is the procedure that i made,
Ics to gingerbread
1. Install abyss kernel 4.2 do full wipe
2. Flash stock gingerbread rom (lc2) via odin, but i could not root it. Error says cannot install su apk or busybox apk /system is read only
3. Flash rooted stock gingerbread rom (kj1) via odin and root success /system can now be mounted as rw
4. Install abyss kernel 4.2 do full wipe and try install kingdroid v7 but stuck at boot screen
5. Install abyss kernel 4.2 do full wipe and try install kingdroid v5.1.1 sucess but root is gone and /system is read only
6. Flash agian rooted stock gingerbread rom (kj1) via odin, root success and /system can be mount as rw.
Now im stuck at rooted gingerbread rom, is there a way i can install ics custom rom without any problem? Seriously. . .whats going on with my note? Hahahaha crazy. . .
