Hey guys,
We just released a new version of LilyPad HD. For those of you not familiar with the app, it's a floating IM client. Though this app is intended for tablets, I found it to be just as useful on my Galaxy Nexus. If you have ever been in a situation where you are surfing the internet or looking up directions and you get a message from your friend, you have to switch away from that app to reply to them. Well, with LilyPad HD, you never have to do this again. LilyPad HD floats on top of all of your active apps and lets you chat with your friends without ever leaving the app you're working on!
In celebration of Google's 'Longest Day' sale, we've dropped the price of LilyPad HD to only $0.99! Be sure to grab it while it's cheap!
Features:
-move it anywhere on your screen!
-Adjustable/resizable chat windows
-Quick Hide Mode: double tap action bar to enable quick hide mode
-Minimize chat windows completely
-Tabbed chatting for multiple conversations
Client Supported:
-Google Talk
-Facebook Messenger
-MSN
Upcoming client support
-Skype
-Yahoo
-AIM

Great work, just bought!
One thing though that is really missing is an option to not show in the notification area the "buddies list" as it's not necessary and takes useful space...there should be an option to choose as to remove that! Please fix!

In time, when we press the physical "back" key I think it should close the current window as any other app.
Thanks!

Hi GTO. I just saw your market comment. Let me explain why its necessary to have that notification. You see, the app is running as a service. Because it lives on top of other apps (unlike traditional apps) it would often be automatically be killed by Android. We need a persistent notification present so that we tell Android not to kill the app. This is how these floating apps have to work. I hope you understand the need for it. Thanks.

Hi Anyman07,
Thanks for the explanation.
One question though: If I make it bulletproof using the V6 Supercharger script would it still need to be in the notification?
If so, it there could be an advanced options for rooted phone.
Thanks again!

hello, i just saw your app and i liked it, would it be possible in a near future, to have it on WP7?that would be awesome

Unfortunately this isn't really a high priority for us right now. We don't want to start getting into the rooting scene just yet. We believe, and I am sure many of our users will agree, that there needs to be a quick way to get back to the buddy list so that you can chat with your friends. There's really no use for the app if every time you want to chat, you must first close the app you're using to get to the homescreen to launch LilyPad. Sure there are shortcuts and things like wavelauncher to help expedite this process, but we're targeting the general people here. Plus, we would have to ensure that ever root user has 'bullet-proofed' LilyPad and that could get messy. So we'll take your suggestion into consideration but there's a lot of other stuff that we need to perfect before making a separate option just for rooted users. Thanks.

Not at this time. We love Android!
I've got your point, it's just a suggestion anyway! Thanks for the response!
If you could make the floating window stop appearing when we connect or disconnect from wi-fi would be great though.
Thanks!

I Love this app however I have two things that needs to be upgraded. First and most important thing I NEED YAHOO MESSENGER. Second is the customizing the app. It would be great if we could tweak it the way we want it and if i could have emoticons.

Thanks for the feedback. Here's what's coming soon (not necessarily in the next update).
More clients including Yahoo
New dark holo theme
Emoticons
Bug fixes and UI cleanup
Lite/Ad version with in app billing to unlock one client at a time. Google talk will be free.
How else would you like to tweak the app? Suggestions are welcome.

The app virtually uses no battery. Other customers have confirmed this. But if you want to quit the app, open the options, scroll the tabs and after About you will see Exit.

Introducing CarMode, an alternative to Car Home. Basically what it does is it shows you huge buttons to important apps that you might use when driving a vehicle with less distraction than manually waking your phone, opening the app drawer, etc. Unlike Car Home, this app will give you more flexibility and more settings to poke around with (even better in future updates).
Looks best with MDPI devices (320x480 resolution, e.g. Droid Eris).
As of now, this app is currently in Alpha phase. What you see right now does not reflect how it will look like and work in the future. I'm working hard to make changes and add more features. Currently NOT in the Market but available on GetJar.com

Here are some apps/redirections that you can use with CarMode:
* Dialer
* Messages
* Call logs
* Shazam
* Navigation
* Voice Search
* Contacts
* Music
* Maps
* Display
* Settings
* Notes - opens a built-in note-taker with save and load features.
To-Do-List:
Where-did-I-park? feature
Be able to set apps to open by default, 3rd party apps (Dialer One, Handcent, etc)
Add more tools, options
Fix layout for HDPI devices
Auto-fill when hiding apps
Fix landscape layout
Choose own apps to launch
Changelog:
v3 October 10:
Changed theme
Removed button sets (temporary)
Added more buttons
Reworked layout
Added a persistent option to hide/show buttons
v2 October 5:
Changed app icon.
Added two button sets
Added several settings options
7 total buttons
v1 October 1:
First release
What else should I add? The less the better 'cause I don't want people to be distracted too much when driving! Please do suggest! If you're familiar with App Inventor and is good at it, may I ask some advice from you? Send me a PM. Thank you!

Whoa it worked?! Nice Thank you for testing it!
And yeah, I just need to fix the graphics and such @[email protected]
For the Display, I directed it to the Display settings so you can put the screen on for whatever time limit you want before it goes off, useful if you're driving so you don't have to press the End call button to wake the phone xD
Nice job. I don't use Shazam so I can't test that. Everthing worked fine except the dialer button. It FC every time I tried it. Maybe because mine is themed or because the rom I'm on has a different dialer than the one you created the app with.
Great work. Looking forward to seeing a custom icon.

Oh, the Dialer actually uses the "Dialer One" app. You can get it from the Market. I'm actually working on it. Fixing and stuff. I'll let you guys know for changes. I'll be posting a new version by the end of the day.

V2
V2 works well for me again. One thing that I notice is that when I hide one of the icons they come back when I open the program back up. It would be nice if the settings would stick. Nice progress though
I like the themes and the option to hide unwanted apps but a few things that I noticed:
Can you only display the disclaimer at initial open?
I get FC when navigating back from any given app.
Large file size.
Keep at it, it's coming along nicely.

Good one, I'll try to find a way to hide the disclaimer and not be very intrusive.
The size is my problem too. Probably because of the themes. I'm thinking of making another package for themes but I don't know how to do that yet. I'll find ways to decrease the file size.
Again, thanks you two Your feedbacks will help me improve this app by A LOT!
The file size really isn't that big a deal (apps2sd) but if you find a way to trim it, it would be nice.

Yeah, A2SD FTW
I'm somehow looking for a way to modify apps from App Inventor so I can publish them to the Market so updating would be easier.
New update tonight 10/09/2010
v3 is up! Please test it out? Thank you so much!
screens look awesome. gonna try to dl and try tonight.
Well........That was a major improvement! I love the new interface. It is very quick and smooth. Keep up the good work. Its coming along wonderfully. Again major improvement over v.2!
Awesome app! Much more stable than the last version. I tried everything and couldn't get it to FC at all. I like the different tabs and the hidden disclaimer...and that it no longer has the stock icon. A few constructive suggestions for V4:
When apps are deselected in the settings, have the main screen autofill (it currently leaves a blank box).
Fix orientation for landscape so you don't have to scroll down to see the rest of the apps.
There was a blank app box (not sure if that's supposed to be there).
Is it possible to let the users select their own apps/settings for it to call on? This would eliminate the need to add a bunch of apps and have the user deselect unwanted ones.
This app has come a long way. Can't wait to try out the next version.

-Autofill
-Landscape mode
-Fill in blank box xD That was just a filler cause I didn't know what to add there.
-Ability to select own apps
-Where-did-I-park? feature
Thank you for the suggestions, I'll try to find ways to add those. They're good ones too. My only problem is that the landscape and the choice to add own stuff would probably take a while. I have to find a way around App Inventor. It has a lot of limitations that's why I can't implement some other stuff.
But again, we'll see. I appreciate the output!
Hi,
Does this work with HTC desire? I tried to install it, but it closes down everytime I start phone oglor an app that has to do with contacts. Navigation is working fine
I tried to disable the empty button on page 2 and now I get an error when trying to open settings?

Yes, I made an error and based the actions/intent on Froyo ROM. I forgot that this differs with every ROM/version/phone.
If you could help me, if ever you have LauncherPro as home replacement app, could you go to your desktop, hold down screen and choose Shortcuts > Activities and look for the app that force closes and give me (if you don't mind), all the things that has starts with a com.* etc, etc under the Dialer for example. That way, I can fix it

Ok, So I've been gone for a while, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been working on things, or even just collecting a bunch of goodies... So allow me to share with you the fruits of Android Development Labor!
1. NFLifeScreen:
This is just a launcher to put it simply, but it's actually a pretty cool launcher if you like different things. It takes some getting used to, but it's worth it... It looks great on an Epic. The launcher consists of two sides. The right side is basically your "Quick Access" applications, while the left side is storage for the rest of your applications. On the right side, your quick access applications are set up in a circle, which you scroll through to find the ones you want. The quick access section consists of about 10 applications that you can set. You can scroll from the left side to the right side, so it only has two home screens, but the way it's set up, you really only need two. The left side has a box at the top that stores the rest of your applications. You can replace any of the "quick access" applications at any time with any of the applications from your app box. Another down side is that it's setup to allow you only one widget for the homescreen. If you're the type of person who really doesn't care for widget's that much, then this launcher just might be the one for you. On a plus note, everything on your "quick access" panel might have a pop-up menu. I'll show you what I mean in the screenshots.

2. TouchWiz 4.5 Launcher:
This launcher was created by some guys over in the I9000 thread, and while it's technically only TW4, they've added quite a few upgrades to it. I'll just go over a few things, and I'll include the link so you can check everything out on their official page in case you have any other questions. It has every feature of TW4, but some extras including but not limited to: Resizing Widgets, Scrollable Widgets, Easy Theming, Extra system settings, More homescreen settings and more. I've tried all the combinations of getting the correct download and seeing which one will work, so I'm including the link to the correct download for you guys, but if you wanna check out some of their other stuff, just check out their page and if you like it ...give em a thanks .

3. IHeartRadio:
This app is exactly what it sounds like. While it doesn't give you the option to skip songs, it is however, an app that compiles of over 750 different radio stations from all over the US. If you go on a vacation, and miss your radio stations from up home, don't worry any longer! You can just search for your radio station from home and listen to it on your phone as if you were back home listening to it in the comfort of your car! ...Ok, enough with the TV Commercial description lol, this app is very convenient. I'm stationed in Hawaii right now, but miss my radio from home because I could listen to Eagles games on sundays on one of the stations. With this app, I can find my station and listen to the games, while drinkin a cold one on the beach. It's very convenient, and awesome in the fact that I'm thousands of miles from home, but listening to the station as if I am home. It gives me a little peace of mind.

4. App Locker II: Fake Crash
This app is actually a very handy app if you have people that like to invade your privacy and pick up your phone. It allows you to make any application crash when opened, and all you have to do to fix it is perform one of the unlock actions. There's a few different actions, but for this specific purpose, I'll give you the option that I use the most, which is the rotate action. Basically what you do is open the application, select which application you want protected, and press it. A menu will pop up with two separate actions. Protect, and remove protection. To protect the app, obviously you're going to select "protect". Once the app is protected, simply hit the menu button, choose "settings", and select the mode you'd like for protection. For all intensive purposes, just follow along. Go to "unlock mode" and select "Rotate motion". Now simply hit the home button, you're done with the protection of the specific app. Now any time you go to open that application up, it's going to automatically force close, giving the illusion that the phone is crashing and won't allow the app to open. With the "Rotate motion" setting, all you have to do is turn the phone over. So while you're looking at the screen, do NOT hit the "Force Close" button, simply turn the phone over, so the screen is facing down, and turn it back over to face you. The app will then remove the force close dialogue box, and you're application will work. It's as simple as that. I've personally found this application VERY useful in the work place where everyone thinks that my phone is a community phone lol. Anyways, here's a DL link and a few screenshots to show you what it's all about.

SCREENSHOTS:
Ok, that's it for now, because it's getting late and I have to get up for work in the morning, but i'd like to at least state, for all intensive purposes, that these are either works of people on XDA, which are free, or are free in the market. None are the works of warez, and none of the apps posted here cost anything. I will create another list while I'm at work tomorrow of a bunch of free, fun games if you would like. I hope the use you get from these apps (should you choose to download any of them) will be more than satisfying. Also, if you guys choose the modified TouchWiz from the I9000 guys, stop by their page and give em a thanks (if you choose, that's not an order lol). Just try to think of the work they put into it. If you have any questions about any of the apps, feel free to either drop me a message here, or hit me up on Google+ or just Gmail. Whichever you prefer. [email protected].

My 32GB Nexus 5 is less of a phone and more of a small tablet. But multiuser is not enabled!
You might ask, why do I want multiuser? Well... perhaps you give your phone to kids to play with on long trips. Or perhaps you want a "test" set of settings. Or you want to separate work and personal. Or maybe you just like to customize.
You do need the following:
1) Root
2) A way to enable the lock screen to rotate (I suggest Gravity Box: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2316070)
3) A way to edit your build.prop. (Do it old school or an app such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.build.prop.editor)
4) A current backup!
It is easy enough to do if you can edit your build.prop. This requires root, and YOU REALLY MUST BACKUP before you mess with build.prop. Seriously. Back up. It just takes a few minutes.
You can edit build.prop by pulling it to a PC and pushing it back or you can use a build.prop editor from the market (I used the one built into Android System Tuner Pro (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.pmw.pro&hl=en) because I was feeling lazy). If you are doing it by hand the build.prop is in /system/ The line you need is:
Code:
fw.max_users=4
You can set 4 to however many users you want to be able to support.
Reboot.
At this point, it seems like nothing has happened. You need to go to Settings and you'll find a new entry:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If you click Users you should be able to figure it out from there:
Once you have set up a new user, you can press your user name in the settings to get to the lock screen. In portrait mode, it will look normal. But if you rotate to landscape mode you will see an icon for each user you've defined. If you set a different lock type/code for each (a PIN or a swipe code) you will have "some" security between users.
I did this on the 4.2.2 OTA that was slightly repackaged here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557523
You'd imagine it would work on most other ROMs that don't already support it, but BACK UP FIRST just in case!
sweet
Thanks for this find! So what's the default on fw.max_users? 1?
Thinking I might set this up so that when my son keeps asking "can I play on your phone" he gets his own setup. Interesting.
The default is the line is not there. This apparently sets it to a single user.

Edit2: nvm just found out that i had an option to enable user selection on power screen
How do you switch users?
Sent from my SGH-I897 using Tapatalk
Oh yeah. I use xposed and gravity box to enable rotating lock screen. Forgot about that. To switch users you need the landscape lockscreen. My bad! Still, xposed and gravity box are a great add on too.

Good find. There's a couple other ways too like the app SwitchMe or my favorite: I just dual boot. The phone boots so fast that it's less than a minute to boot to the other side. That way my wife can set up the phone to be less confusing since my phone is mostly gesture based and not for the novice.

Maybe someone could help me. I'm on a routed nexus 5. The phone is still stock. Yet when I create a restricted profile and log into it, I only get a black screen. None of the apps I've enabled show up.

I've run into the black screen problem a few times on different ROMs. I'm not sure what causes it, and no matter what I tried I couldn't get any wallpaper to show up.
Other ROMs I've used don't have any problems with wallpapers...again not sure what the difference is between those that work and those that don't.
Instead of modding the build prop to enable multi-users, I use Xposed Framework and Modaco Toolkit. Once Xposed is installed and the Modaco Toolkit module is enabled, selecting the "Show users on power menu" option in the "Google Nexus (all)" category enables the User Switcher in the power menu, and adds the "Users" option in the system menu. Reboot after making the selections to activate the settings.
I'm currently using CyanFox ROM found in the Nexus 5 Android Development forum and multi-user works perfect. Long-pressing the power button brings up the power menu along with the different users on the phone (after they've been set up).
CyanFox is a great ROM by the way...I highly recommend checking it out
Another good ROM that allows wallpapers on all users is AICP, also found in Android Development.
Xposed Framework: http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
Modaco Toolkit: http://www.modaco.com/topic/361634-xmod-modaco-toolkit-for-xposed-framework
Not sure if this helps you at all, but other than finding a ROM that has wallpapers for all users, I'm not sure how to fix the stock one.
It's looks awesome!!
Looks cool, maybe I'll try it out soon

Yes, but Gravity box was only a suggestion for getting lock screen rotation. There are plenty of things out there that will do that and not all need Xposed. For example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mah.screenrotationlock would probably work.

Yes, when setting up the new user, don't start with "restricted". Do a full setup first.
I used to have a Galaxy S2 before moving to Moto X, and the config curtain made me miss the Samsung Galaxy S2 curtain, where you just slide and choose to disable/enable what you want without the need of a widget. There is an app which does the same thing no moto x?

I have not found a way. It you have one line of toggles and battery % turned on the % number covers the icon. I added more toggles the other day on the second line and the icon appeared beside the %. Chris

android already has this built-in, unless i'm missing something.
when you hit the settings button in the upper-right of the notification bar, you get a quick list of things like wifi, BT, etc. to disable/enable any of them, just long press (long press BT, turns on/off BT).

I know that, but I got used with the feature on samsung, I just have to slide one finger and have access to that. Without the app I'd have to slide, click and choose between thousand of icons, that's the feel I get.
And also, I like to disable screen rotation sometimes, that google just forgot on nexus template

i'm still confused. thousands of icons? do you need something additional from the standard five? i've used the power toggle widget since 2.x but ever since they added those same settings to the notification bar, the widget isn't necessary.
if this is what you're referring to, it looks more confusing than android's solution:

What I meant is:
on Galaxy S2, I just had what I needed on the curtain, which was wireless, mobile data, sync, rotation and few other things. That was enough. 1 line of icons.
Now on moto x I have pull the curtain, click on top right icon leading me to almost a screen full of icons and missing the auto rotate, when just a ribbon/line was enough.
On Galaxy S2 (ICS/JB) is very short, in the 3rd picture you've shown, it almost like visual pollution to me. the 2nd is more the way I like it.

you can use gesture controls in third party launchers to go directly to toggles. I use Nova Launcher and have it set so that when I double tap the screen the toggles open. you can assign other gestures instead if you wish. Have a single finger swipe down open notification shade, two finger swipe down for toggles for example. If you're rooted, you can use gravity box to change which tiles are displayed and in which order.

Dot View Mods is a collection of modifications for the HTC One (M8)'s Dot View cover.
This module requires an unlock key for most features: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mohammadag.dotviewmodsforhtcmateunlockkey
Features include:
Control your music playback and see what's playing right from the Dot View cover.
Add gestures to the case and customise them.
See notifications at a glance, with support for all Android notifications. (enable the listener in Settings -> Security -> Notifications access)
* See the full notification when it first comes in: your notifications scroll across the screen.
Quick dial contacts right from the cover, with support for up to 9 shortcuts spread across 3 pages.
Don't have a contact and still want to dial them quickly? Open up a full dialer right from the cover.
And if you're bored:
Play a quick game of Snake, retro-style!
Compatibility:
This module was coded with the stock DotMatrix application set to 480DPI, the developer cannot guarantee it'll work fine with other DPIs.
If you have other modifications installed, support cannot be guaranteed.
Usage:
Dialer:
Swipe up to call the number, swipe down to close the dialer. If no numbers are input, a swipe up redials the last person called.
Swipe from right to left to delete a number, tap and hold the numbers at the top to delete all.
A future update may add speed dial from the stock dialer.Snake:
Tap the HTC logo on your cover to pause the game, tap it again to save progress and quit the game.Shortcuts:
Swipe left and right to change between shortcut pages.

Yep, I realised email was bad for this kind of stuff since a lot of it is repeated.
I'm done with exams, so there should be more updates now. I've already added a torch feature.

Awesome, looking forward to it!
I have a couple of suggestions:
- Is it possible to make it so that none of the apps are turned on by default for notifications? So that people have to add the ones they want rather than untick the rest that aren't really useful?
- Is it possible to disable gesture controls completely? so no menu or music control etc?
This module will be perfect for me if it is as close to stock as possible, with the addition of custom notifications of course
Anyway, keep up the awesome work :good:
Believe it! Play SNAKE at Dot View. also play song.
I'm having trouble with it actually wo4king for long periods it will stop displaying notifications after like the first notifications (so after a message it will no longer work) also the dialer will work when it wants too I've had like 3 instance now were the phone will stay stuck on the dot view look even if I open the flap... I've Uninstalled it and reinstalled same issue
Any suggestions???
New version is out:
Major features:
Custom gradient support, pick the top and bottom colors from the settings app. Non scrolling text now uses this gradient.
Torch feature, either using gestures or menu items
For everything else, see the change log on Xposed.
Reboot immediately after installation.

If it sticks on the screen, that's actually a crash, I'd need a logcat to debug that, but you need to use adb to get that.
The new version, however, has some bug fixes that will should reduce (or prevent) crashes. Try seeing if it still happens there.

I'm going to need a logcat filtered for AndroidRuntime. The reason the screen is stuck is because behind it is a dialog that says DotMatrix has stopped working and you'd need to click okay (which you can't).
But still, a crash is a crash and it needs to be fixed, so please, post a logcat
