[Q] Microphone problem with Topaz and Android FRX07.1 - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I installed Froyo FRX07.1 on the SD-Card of my Windows Mobile MDA compact V, which is more or less a HTC Topaz /TD2.
I followed the installation instructions in the Android thread, but I am not allowed to post there yet, so I put this question / issue here into this thread.
Everythink works fine - except that the internal microphone does not work. With WM 6.5, it works fine, but when I boot the Android system, it does not work. I noticed first, when I tried calling myself (on another phone): it is as if the microphone is dead - I cannot hear my voice on the other phone (but I can hear my voice from the other phone from the speaker of the Topaz).
Then I installed a voice recorder from the Android Market and recorded my voice - but when I replayed the file, there was not a single sound to be heard, so I think nothing got recorded at all.
Did anyone had the same problem? I don't think so - a phone without microphone does not make any sense, I think... So, what kind of mistake did I do, or what did I miss?
By the way, I upgraded to htc-msm-linux-20120227_213021-package.tar.bz2. (with the file from the build, the phone started, showed the Android welcome screen a few times, and then rebooted...)
Thanks a lot!

Strange...
Ok, I thought I can try something, so I downloaded another zImage!
I used the much older zImage_20110415_205352
and now I can hear a voice!

you should go back to the default kernel from the package FRX07.1 (modules-2.6.27.46-01356-gd4c73bd.tar.gz)+ zImage
sound issues caused by incompatible kernel :silly:

Sometimes no Sound from phone

Hi!
My tytn II w/ original WWE HTC Rom (installed apps: Tomtom 6, MS Voice Commanc 1.6) sometimes just makes no sound when I´m calling someone or someone is calling me. I just can´t hear anything from the built-in speaker nor from the speakerphone. Ringing and playing mp3 is working fine.
When I get that problem I have to restart the device.
I tried the search function but didn´t really find a solution, just for problems that occur ALWAYS and not intermittend....
Thanks in advance,
Ingo
I have the same issue and resolve it the same way.

How does it go with the original supplied headset plugged in? What does WWE mean (with regards to the ROM)? Have you made any changes to the device since you got it and if so does a hard reset fix it (that is if you haven't spent ages custimising things so wont be loosing much in a hard reset)? I've never had this problem with my TyTN II other than of course sometimes when the reception is dodgy but thats not a problem with the device.
As far as I know now, the problem is MS Voicecommand. I uninstalled it today and no problems so far.....

I have this problem too, but I don't think it's related to Voice Command because I don't have it installed.

Just FYI; WWE stands for World Wide English (or some people say World Wide Edition)

How I fixed the speakerphone on the Tilt

This relates to the problem of the speakerphone being virtually unusable on the ATT tilt. I was having the problem that seems to be very common with the speakerphone cutting in and out almost as if it were half duplex. The other party could only hear every other word and it was virtually unusable. Additionally, I could not get the speakerphone to work with Skype at all. All of my searches led to a dead end with nobody able to figure out how to fix this. There was one poster that said the problem was fixed by installing MS Voice Command, though no one else was able to repeat that.
Anyways, I decided to try MS Voice Command. I installed it and really did not like it. It was less accurate than Cyberon Voice speed dial. The digitized voice was very difficult to understand. I also had difficulty getting it to work with my BT headset. Other than that it was pretty nice not to have to work through voice tags. But I really did prefer CVSD so I went about uninstalling MSVC and resetting all the registry changes I had made. Unfortunately, this did not revive CVSD. I then found the cab to reinstall it. It still didn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled CVSD. No go. I then found a patch cab to restore the registry settings. That sort of worked and I was able to use CVSD but it did not have the usual beep sound to let you know when to speak the command. Anyways, I did some further research and was directed to the Cyberon web site, where there was a patch to upgrade to the latest version. Finally got it all back to working status! That was two days ago.
Today, I was messing around with Skype and did a test call to the echo number and sure enough it heard me through the speakerphone! It repeated my test message very clearly. I then made a Skype call and the other party heard me loud and clear. This was a good sign... Lastly, I made a regular phone call and put the call on speaker. Unbelievably, the speakerphone was now fully operational! I could be heard loud and clear, no breaking up as before. The quality, I was told was not the greatest, sounding like I was on a speakerphone, but was coming in perfectly clear and no half duplex like behavior! Problem fixed!
So, although I can't tell you exactly what fixed the problem, this episode points to some sort of conflict with CVSD. Or to the older version of it. I would think that anyone with the speakerphone problem should first try upgrading to the latest version of CVSD with this patch located on the Cyberon site.
http://www.cyberon.com.tw/Technical3.php
If that doesn't fix it, then you might want to uninstall CVSD altogether, then reinstall and apply then apply the patch. As I said, I'm not sure exactly where the problem got corrected, but this is clearly what fixed it for me! It would be interesting to know if others have the same results...
Here is the cab to re-install CVSD (Voice_Tri.cab) and the registry patch (CVSD_Patch.cab) should you decide to do a complete uninstall/reinstall. The last update cab you can get directly from Cyberon site mentioned in post #1.
I hope this helps...

loudspeaker mic problem
I tried installing the applications from cyberone and then installing the patch.
SAME PROBLEM......
Help please........
Did you delete CVSD first then reinstall?? Or did you just install the new version over the old? As I said originally, I'm not sure what actually got fixed, only that it did get fixed after doing this... I was hoping that it could be replicated by someone else or that we could figure out just what it was that was causing the problem in the first place!

So that it doesnt get flooded and lost with the new threads being made every day. therefore i assume that someone will see it, and has the same problem and installs the above remedy and the reads Moddin's post: Has someone else tried this with any success yet?
then he remembers that it worked for him therefore posting back and confirming that it actually works.
hence why imperium wrote: kick.....bump.
then imperium sees there is a new comment and seeing that it worked for the other guy, he decides to take the plunge and maybe it works for him too.
he then goes and talks on the phone happily ever after.
hope this answered your question.
hi,
You can call me noob, how to delete CVSD?
I am pretty sure I installed it first from the cab and then it was in the uninstall list. I had removed/changed a bunch of settings in the registry when I tried to get Voice Command working so I did the install. When it didn't work I uninstalled then reinstalled and then did the patch which got me pretty close to being fully operational. The last thing I did was update directly from the Cyberon web site.
I'm using a TyTN II but I find that my unit has Cyberon Voice Commander instead of Cyberon Voice Speed Dial. Does this patch work with the CVC?
CVSD is only uninstalled if you have it installed to begin with. Go to start, settings, system tab, remove programs. It should be on that list. I'm going to try this right now. My girlfriend hangs up on me whenever I talk on speaker phone because she can't hear what I'm saying and gets frustrated. This could potentially ruin relationships and marriages!!
so this fix is only for TyTN II's which has CVSD installed? Does not apply to mine then. I thought all bundled software is standard. Anyways, do update us when you're done! Yesterday I tried disabling the Microphone AGC and it sort of improved the speaker phone a lot.
Hi:
The only link which will work for me on the Cyberon page is:
Cyberon Voice Speed Dial bluetooth headset connection problem
Q : The Bluetooth recognition performance is poor on HTC P3300. What can I do to solve this problem?
A : This problem could be fixed by the update Cyberon Voice Speed Dial Patch. Please following the instruction in the Readme file and install the Patch.
Download update patch <----------------------
Is this the correct patch that was mentioned?
If not, could someone please attach it here?
Also, I have Voice Speed Dial on my Tilt, but it is not listed on the remove programs list. Can I simply install the newer version without having first uninstalled the older version?
Thanks!
If you are trying to fix your speakerphone I recommend following the instructions in the first two posts. The patch is in post 2...

Audio suddenly died

I just started configuring my new Kaiser with an installed 6.1 ROM, and was having fun listening to music off my SDHC card. Everything seemed to be working great until I tried to make a phone call - no audio. Then, a friend tried calling and left a voicemail. I didn't even hear the ring! When I went back to look at the sound settings there's no signs that anything is wrong. I even turned on screen taps, but I can't hear them or music, rings, or the speaker. There's suddenly no audio! Any guesses what's going on?
Do you have a radio version that is compatible with your ROM?
1.70.0liNex
25.65.30.04W
1.60.00.00
I'm using the above. What radio rom should I be using and where should I get it?

Are you using the at&t rom or a cooked one from this site. Normally those with the radio problem don't talk about having sound at all. It could be that if you flashed a cooked rom you didn't get a radio that your phone likes.
If the ROM being used is the new ATT 6.1 and WOW SRS is installed, this will cause no audio at all. I had this issue and had to uninstall SRS because of the compatibility issue
I did grab it on this site, and it was a bundled radio rom with the release. I got it a couple months ago but I don't remember which one it was (besides it being the seemingly most popular ROM).
BTW, I have an AT&T Tilt also. Any recommendations on what I should use?
helle axebox;
i've had the same problem like you. Sound is normal, then an incomming or outgoing phonecall and there is no more sound anywhere.
I installed an other radio software, Kaiser 1.71.09.01 see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182
now everything is fine.
good luck

Diamond sound problem SOLVED!!

Hi all!
This seems to be an issue shared among a big group of diamond owners. But unfortunately no solution out there. So as a last attempt, I create this thread in hope of a solution.
The problem:
Its seems that for no reason at all, the sound all together stops working on the Diamond after it has been in standby mode for a while. if I get a call, I can not hear the other person, and if I call back the same thing. No ring signal sounds either when I get a call, just flashing button. I noticed however that if I started to play a music file, after 5 seconds into the playing the sound would come back again.
Is there a solution to this problem? I have found other posts about this problem but no solution!

One thing i noticed is after the sound is back again the phone lost his signal (like when you turn off and then on again the phone setting)
For a moment i thought it was the g sensor cause the sound come back suddenly when i move the phone.....happened a couple of times.
Ill keep searching for a solution by my own or in the internet

I had this problem with swiftbl 6.0, but It dissappeared with 6.5, is a problem of the roms. Try another!
Thanks for your suggestion but I had already done that a couple of times, also I had changed SPL versions, Radio and tried to find a combination of these with the ROMs that hopefully dont get me this error/issue. Still looking for a solution
Another thing I did: I tested with different SIM cards, from different providers, but didnt work

Also did I - without success.
I don't even have a clue what causes the failure. Sometimes my Diamond works the whole day, somtimes only a couple of minutes.
Tried a lot of combinations with the settings - means: BT on/off, WiFi on/off, and so on - nothings helped
My warranty is likelihood lapsed, cause of playing with HardSPL and different ROMs. So replacing the mobile isn't possible any more (I guess).
My Diamond worked in the beginning perfectly, until ... hmmm good question, it must have been an update or somthing like that, which causes the malfunction.
@mjckt: Did you have the problem from the first day on?
Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro - CE OS 5.2.19965 (Build 19965.1.2.3)
ROM 1.93.407.1 GER (ROM-Date: 07/10/08)
Phone 1.08.25.08
Hi,
my diamond had the same problem. You must send your diamond to repair. My device had a hardware failure and your, too.
DT
I tried to update the radio to several different versions, but the problem is still there. I can not use my warranty either because the phone has been unlocked etc. But I still doubt that the problem is hardware related, since the phone worked just fine for a short while before the problems came.
Has anyone tried with new sound drivers? If so where did you get the drivers and how did it work?
I am going to try some new sound drivers, will post the results soon

definitely yes. Almost every morning (after being in standby the whole night) I got no sound on my Diamond.
3. (Confirmed = NO) The problem came around first after installation of Skype or other VoIP software.

No, never installed any VoIP-Software.
4. (Confirmed = NO) The problem only occurs if the battery level is lower than 50%

For sure: no. I am reaching very rearly a battery level below 50% but have very often the problem (even with a fully charged battery)
I tried to roll anything back to original state (german O2) and did not install any other software - the problem still persists. So I guess, it has nothing to do with any additionally installed software.
Can anyone confirm this?
"The problem did not existed when you bought your diamond - The problem arose after you updated something (e.g. new ROM from vendor)"
Olaf
yes i have same problem...
and when i try open sound option and try change music files in the notification system says "this file is brocken or damaged...bla bla" it is joke? I only use systems music files
My opinions:
Systems stops read flash...
Systems music drivers stops...
System losts particions of the flash...
question:
Do you have Nokia Music files AAC or MP3?
Do you have file dialog extencions?
Do you have g-alarm program?
What programs instaled to yours diamond, make list...?
This bug desapear after soft reset, but touday i have has this
just had it happen to me last night. had to hard reset i hope it's not a sign of a future hardware failure
