Anyone else having trouble getting the camera app to save to SD? If I change the storage setting to internal, take a pic, then change it back to SD, and take a pic, it will actually go to SD. Then, I wait an hr, take a pic, it goes to internal even though SD is still selected! Very frustrating. I am on stock rom. I've tried "clear data" on the gallery and the camera app. I also tried, obviously, rebooting the phone. Been having this problem since I got the phone.
Mine works fine. It originally was set to store photos in internal storage but I changed it several months ago and now all my photos and videos go right into the dcmi folder on my sd card.
If the problem persists, I probably contact VZ tech support and talk to them about the issue. Are you rooted? If not maybe just call and get a replacement sent to you...
I seem to have found the issue by accident today. I found the button under manage storage that allows you to move all to sd. On inspection, turns out for whaever reason my internal and external are mounted backwards. If I set camera to store to internal memory it will use dcim on the sd. Also, if I select move all to sd, it takes the stuff from the sd and moves it to internal. Odd. I'm sure this will be solved when ics gets pushed or when I root and put a different rom on. Guess ill just deal with it for now.

So where do I start?
I rebooted my droid bionic, UNROOTED, pretty much stock.
When it booted back up, I noticed that some shortcuts on my home screen weren't working.
When I went to run them from the app draw, they weren't there either.
I seen this same problem on my D2G when I was running a class 10 SD card with apps saved to the SD card. The diffidence here though was that apps were saved to the internal storage vice the SD card.
When I went to manage apps, my hunch was correct. It was only affecting programs which were moved to the internal storage.
When rebooted again. It would affect other programs and sometimes even recognize the programs it failed to on the last boot.
I did a factory (hard) reset and that still didn't fix the issue.
I then brought the phone to Verizon and gave them a demonstration.
They then tried it on their phones in the store and came to the decision that this is something affection all droid bionics.
If anyone else is having this issue please feel free to come forward. There weren't any bug reports on this yet, so make sure you let your local store know to put it in their forums so this can be addressed quickly.

My phone has been having one problem after another, but now the camera app is not wanting to work. This is a new problem, and one I can't figure out yet. So far I have tried quite a few things to try and fix it, from removing and reinstalling the camera app, to even doing a full wipe and reinstall of CM7 on the phone. I can't think of anything else it might be.
I know the camera itself still works, I've been using Vignette to take pictures for a while now. But it is a bit of a pain to use for quick shoots, and I would really like to be able to record videos again as well.
If anyone has tips or suggestions, It would be much appreciated. This thing just has to last till the new Nexus comes out for AT&T
Ok so random thought going through my head litterally right after posting this thread, was about my SD card, and the fact that I had just recently upgraded to a 16gb card, and put all my old photos back on it since I had room.
So I switched back over to my 4gb card just to test to see if that might be it, and now the camera app is working...
The big question is still why? I want to use my 16gb card; granted I don't need to carry around all those photos. Is there a limitation in android I don't know about?
try clearing camera cache and wipe data using titanium, and then with out clicking the camera app remove the dcim folder on your new sd card reboot and try the camera. if it still dont work you probaly have to format sd card and restore your stuff but not camera folder as it would have to get recreated when you first click you camera app. if this still dont work try full clean switch to oxygen and then full clean switch back to your desired rom with a clean sd card.
There shouldn't be any need to switch to a different ROM just to get this to work. But as kuljit55 mentioned, it may be an issue with the camera folder itself. You can try to rename it to something else and see if your problem is still there. If it isn't, you *should* be able to just copy all your pictures back to the newly created folder and delete the old one.
this solved my camera FC problem

A few days ago I keep getting the error in my camera app "could not save".
I tried the front and back camera, doesn't work.
It only happens when I try to save to the SD card, internal storage is perfect.
I unmounted the card, restarted my phone, cleared the data/cache of my camera app, and still nothing.
This is a 64GB microsd, so it's not easy to just go out and buy a new one.
But I did take it out and copy all of my photos to my computer. Worked flawlessly. I had no problem reading/writing.
What's also really strange, is when I take a pic and have it saved to internal memory, then TRANSFER it to the SD card, it works.
It still shows up, and the photo is not corrupted. Could my phone be... in need of an RMA? This is an emergency, my warranty is up in 2 weeks exactly.
I had the same problem. I changed SD write permissions by Root Explorer and now Camera can save to SD.
So I dropped in a 512 GB card in my s10+, and in the past you were able to format the card as internal storage. I can see this option and is basically just an external saving location, for nothing...
Any advice?

The adaptable storage option went away with the arrival of Pie.
So the only real advantage of external storage is for pictures, video and apps you install after setup? BS if you ask me...what's the point if you can't merge the two as usable storage?
What is the advantages of an external SD card?
so that when you take pictures and save them on your card and your phone happens to get destroyed you can simply pull your card out of your destroyed phone and you still have everything intact. It also allows you to access your pictures in the event that your phone battery dies by simply putting your card into another phone and it or computer. It also serves as an additional backup to your pictures if you chose to save them on both your phone and your SD card.
for somebody like me that upgrades every time a new phone comes out it's magical to be able to simply pull my card out and put it in the new phone and everything ports over. I take a ridiculous amount of pictures so the external memory is nice to have.
So, yeah, i think i made a BIG mistake
for context: a week ago my 32gb SD card got corrupted, so i formatted it with my phone, while doing so i didn't pay much attention, so i just tapped without looking. (after looking it up on Google it seems that i tapped an option called "use SD card as internal storage").
the process said "this will take several minutes" and i thought it was normal . It ended up taking almost 2 HOURS (turns out the SD card was a cheap one) and most of my apps took a long time to open (and for games with big OBB files it didn't even load at all).
I was scared because i had very important stuff from my college that i didn't want to lose, so i asked on several sub reddits to see if anyone could help me but it was fruitless.
the next day, in the morning, i check my phone just to see most of my data was gone (music, documents, photos), everything was corrupted, files and folders now with random names of letters and numbers, and well at this point i was just dissapointed.
I can't use the camera, it says "insert SD card" (and without the SD card it won't even open the camera app), i can't take screenshots, download stuff, i can just use chrome, twitter and youtube.
If i remove the SD card and go to About Phone, in the storage tile it says "22gb/32gb" but when i tap to check the details it says "32gb/32gb" and it crashes (so the internal storage is still there, but like hidden ).The MIUI cleaner says "0b Avaliable".
Needless to say there's no "Eject SD card" option because the phone says the SD IS the internal storage.
I'm about to unlock the bootloader just in case the phone gets in a bootloop after doing a factory reset, just to be sure
I really hope you guys can help me
