So you want to play games on your phone?
Probably then something AOSP, not sense because there will be more ram available for the game to use
Maybe CM7, Playground ICS or Ice Cold Sandwich, because they are AOSP and support overclocking, and they are very stable
I have Ice Cold 8.0 and it runs my games quite well, but most of them are not very processor intensive
I'm currently running Miui it seems to run games quite well with gta3 running very smoothly on 1.44Ghz I just thought someone might have made a specific gaming rom.
Any ideas about Miui v4 ? I have tried an old port but very buggy someone considering reporting it ?

I wouldn't use it if you want performance
Miui gingerbread is good, I used it a few months ago

I think CM7 with Tiamat Kernel plus a little overclocking is really nice for gaming.
Also a minimalistic Launcher like Zeam, ADW or LauncherPro will help getting more free RAM for Gaming Performance.

Yeah that's the problem I had with tiamat on aosp gingerbread roms
I actually used kaijura's v3 kernel from ice cold when I was on cm7.2 a month ago, worked fine for me and for others
I'd recommend you try that if sound is a problem for you, the performance I found is the same, but everything I need works

Is there any rom which is recommended for 3d gaming ?

The graphics drivers do not really change so it does not matter as long as you are using the latest 2.2 or 2.2.1 roms.

Dungeon defenders works well but i wanna test if there can be more performance ingame.
Hi guys, I myself am a G2 user, but months ago I loaded cm7 onto my friends milestone, while he does enjoy it he mentioned to me he has a lot of random reboots/freezes etc. It has cm 7.0.0 on it, I'm assuming it wasn't very stable then.
What I would like to ask is what rom would you all reccomend for speed and features? Myself I'm a huge cm fan, but don't know much about the milestones limits. If someone could confirm the newer ports of cm7 work better? I see 7.1.0.2 is here.
Looking forward to your guys thoughts and advice on the matter.
Cheers!
Edit. Or if there's another rom you'd recomend!

Try MIUI
I am using Miui 1.10.21, built on Gingerbread 2.3.7
Its a superb ROM, except, it is overclocked to 1Ghz.
I will not recommend overclocking as a safe practice.
Except that its smooth, beautiful & works perfect

haha good one, I have a G2 also and using some times the milestone.
I'm running froyomod 2.9.2. In my humble opinion, its kind of slow... I never really use the milestone with the stock rom, so I cant compare. But if I compare with my G2 with unity rom, the moto is slow @ 800 mhz.
But at least froyomod is ultra stable and has a good battery life.
I'll maybe try this week miui, I'll see.

Is MIUI gpu accelerated?

I don't face this kind of problem. Is there a lot of background process running?
Normally, i will kill off the facebook, whatapps and other unrelated process when not using them.
Thnx for the help guys, I flashed the latest cm7 kang for him since he was accustomed to cm7 already, since 7.0.0 it has come leaps and bounds, very snappy and he's getting a full 18 hours of heavy usage. what rom you on im getting fc one jetpack rom modern combat 3 is not optimised for single core phones try overclocking to 1440 or higher and uv 30mv or higher fiddle with your cpu gpu and ram the idea is to trick the game to think you have a duel-core phone it works fine on f1 rom for me

It's funny you ask. The first time I heard the term "lag" when referring to low FPS (that's frames per second, not first person shooter ) was by my little brother. At that time the definition of lag for me was having communication delay with people when chatting online due to network problems. It was really strange for me listening to him use the term "lag" referring to his PC's power performance. Now it is well spread, even though originally it was meant to mean delay on communications due to network problems!
Hello, Do ROM's like CM7 and Darky's ROM etc improve gaming and CPU performance? because im playing Shadow Gun and it's lagging like hell... will installing custom ROM fix this?
P.S sorry for being noob I'm just looking for reasons to flash custom ROM
You won't see a massive difference between ROMs but there is a slight difference. Chainfire from market impacts on performance if used correctly. also I do recommend ICS ROMs. I feel that games run more smoothly on them .

I don't now, but I can post my results in Qaudrant and you can see if they are better or not...
I remeber you that I'm on ICS 4.0.3 now, therefore I can only suggest you to give a try to Darkyy's or CM7 and try your game performances...
I only use fruitninja and works like a charm.
If I can help you in flashing other rom just tell me something.
Shadow gun is a very demanding game and the galaxy s has lacking hardware for optimal game play. Software can only do some optimization. You will not get a totally smooth experience with any rom.

Quadrant scores mean absolutely nothing.
For a game like ShadowGun to run as smoothly as possible, I suggest a Froyo ROM and RAM optimization scripts such as ThunderBolt or SuperCharger.
Give up froyo. Go for latest rom and midnight kernel. No ext4! And use agressive lmk settings. And delete all bloatware (you can use my huge list) and use adw launcher with no widgets. Only search and 4 shortcuts. Overclock a little bit. You can't believe your eyes.

Using your technique described above essentially strips the phone to a minimal and restricts how one would normally go about with an android device. For me that shows sgs lacks hardware for hardcore games.

Let me see this video. I'm calling you out on this, so post a link. I want to see gameplay from ALL of the games you just listed, and if I see absolutely no lag at all then you'd have proved your point. I'm not expecting 60 fps on each of those games, but if you can even achieve 35+ constantly, then it's definitely lag free.

You all are running ICS on your N1s? Is it much better than the latest version of CM7, 2.3.7? Does CM9 ever crash or freeze? Because I'm very happy with CM7's speed and stability. Where can I find the N1's CM9 download?

ICS for N1 in its current state is absolutely not stable or reliable (for my needs). too many bugs and features missing (like USB tethering and video recording). If you use features such as A2SD you must have a class 10 card or else app switching is incredibly slow. I have a class 6 card, the app switching was ok but not faster than on Gingerbread. IMO the only improvements in ICS that i really would love to have are all the Google app updates that come courtesy of the new framework of ICS. HWA really improves the browser performance but still I wont jump back to ICS until CM9 has some RC builds out.
I recommend using the build in my sig. along with Go Launcher, its latest update makes it super smooth and i havent notice my home screens reloading icons ever since.
All ROMS/Kernels can all be found in the Development section....
