[Q] How does paranoid android work ? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't want to steal paranoid andoird secrets, but as other people I'dl love to have a stock rom on my galaxy note, but with some apps in tablet mode. I realized I don't care that much about launcher or settings in tablet mode, more precisely I would like :
- a stock rom with all functionalities (radio FM, stock camera)
- apex launcher in phone mode, landscape, at 240 dpi (I think 240 is the lowest working with Touchwizz)
- gapps for contacts, calendar (I prefer them over touchwizz's versions)
- some apps (kindle, chrome, maps, ...) in tablet mode
AFAIK the 3 first point are feasible, so I wondered if individual apps (by modifying the apk ?) can be "hacked" to work in tablet mode ?

Screen Rotation (Original Settings)

I have, in the past, installed various utilities to make my screen rotate automatically, but none of them worked as great as I wanted them to work (nothing managed to enable BubbleBreaker to run in Landscape mode, the Manila never rotated properly, etc.) so I ended up deleting them and putting newer ones and they didnt do what I wanted either.
recently my sms and browsers stopped rotating too and sometimes when i manage to make them rotate, they wont go back to the original (portrait mode) and everything just messes up.
I know that I can hard reset my phone and revert back to the original settings, but then I've got loads of apps installed and stuff customized the way I like.
I was wondering if they is any thing I can do to revert all the settings (for the screen rotation) back to the original values without losing any information, apps, other stuff I have on my phone.
Thanks
P.S. please provide a list (if possible links) of the apps I will need to use too.
P.P.S if possible I would like to know how to set other things too, like how to change the position of the start menu to make them come on the bottom bar instead of on top, how to use manila in landscape mode, how to keep the music player on while I turn on the camera (I could do this on my BlueAngel)
Here's what I would do;
Install TD2 Tools which has a rotation manager.
Then install Topaz Keyboard Controller and map one of your hardware keys to rotate your screen.
To get bottom bar start menu would require flashing a custom ROM as WM 6.5.x is not available stock on Topaz but has been ported from other devices.
Music palyer while camera is on seems would be a memory resource issue.
thanks
but im still curious about the cam and the media player
since you could do it with older slower devices running WM2003 but now the new ones which are supposed to be faster (more mem) won't allow you

As devices have improved, so have the cameras, but they have always been resource hogs.

Help with Paranoid Android

Hi everybody, since this morning I'm using paranoid android 0.3 and I think it's awesome. And the tablet mode is fantastic. In settings I'm a noob, so I would like to ask you if someone can give me some values to use on the drive settings for the tablet mode and which is for you the best configuration for tablet mode. Thanks a lot.

Search in the Paranoid Android thread, there are many usefull tips, tricks and settings from the users and the dev. Especialy read the OP very good. Don`t use that rom myself.
For the best configuration on tablet mode:
Make the Tablet mode and Hybrid mode ON.
User default DPI : Stock DPI (Tablet)
User default UI : Tablet UI
If you dont do that most of the apps like whatsapp, viber, gosms etc are with huge fonts and doesnt seem nice.
After that it is totally your decision to make some specific apps run on Phone mode or another different DPI etc.
For example Google Chrome is better on phone mode so I have changed its UI but I did not touch the DPI values of Chrome.

[Q] Stock or Cyanogenmod or Simmilar?

I recently installed cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly. I did it mostly because the brightness does not dimm when the phone heats up.
The problems I have is that I miss some of the LGs stock apps like the stock gallery app and Camera app with all the features.
The stock gallery app could play gifs with all the frames(Yes, watching cats fall off tables over and over again is fun).
With CWM, the phone seens to last longer, has some nice features such as(Back button kill) and lockscreen apps. Also the phone does not seem to display the weird bug where the screen would switch on after pushing the power button.
So, is there anyway to get best of both worlds? Any gallery apps out there? In apk of course, I have no internet in my phone.
Also, reverse tether does not seem to work in CM 10.1. The device remains undetected when I try to reverse tether.
Camera apk is ported to CM by iodak, check themes and apps subforum

[Q] Android Car Theme/ Skin

Hey Guys,
I am looking for advice on the best Android options (custom rom, apk, skins etc) for an in- car device I am trying to build. The device will run Android and connect to a smartphone for data and notifications (like Android Wear). I would like for it to have the following capabilities, without touch input/ voice only :
Device Capabilities/ Characteristics:
- minimal UI
- Basic Phone Functions (make calls, reply to sms, and get directions - all without touch input)
- A few select Car apps, from the Play store Apps (the issue is navigating the UI without touch)
A few options I've tried:
- Google Glass apk (issue: buggy, no play store apps)
- Google Now (voice commands), with Launcher (UI), Tasker (custom commands) (issue: navigation of UI, smartphone connection)

Big Keyboard and Icons after Resolution Changer

Hi guys,
i have a big Problem.
Used Resolution Changer to change DPI on my G FLEX.
After return to stock value i have a unusable big Keyboard and big icons.
How to fix that ?
Most of LGs apps are hard coded to 320dp.
Everything but the keyboard (I've tried) can be fixed by using xposed and app settings module.
Find the misbehaving app, and set it to 320dp.

that means i cant fix the keyboard ?
i have to recover my phone right?
can i go to recovery mode and reset my phone ? or are there other steps to do with root ?
thx for help.
Setting DPI back to stock (320) should have made all of LGs stuff work properly.
So, fix your DPI back to stock with that app, then get rid of it.
I use:
xposed + app settings
In app settings I find system UI and android system, set them to the DPI I want (instead of setting the DPI in build prop), then fix DPI (set to 320) for any LG app that won't work with what I set.
However, LG keyboard is funky, it won't like anything but 320 anywhere. So, if you want smaller DPI you must use another keyboard like Google keyboard or any other keyboard on the play store.
(edit)
Did you make a full backup in recovery? If yes, go and restore it, and never use that resolution changer app again.
