Hello,
Some time ago I flashed my HTC G1 on a new ROM - EzGingerbread.
(h t t p ://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882356)
All is correct except sound.
I noticed that my phone rings quietly.
After I noticed that I can't make sound quiet or laud by hardware button.
What is this? - and I listened to front and rear speaker.
I heard, that an any mode (rings, alarm, playing media files) sounds only front speaker.
What is wrong? I think, may be not correct radio? Or anything else?
Help, please!

nothing to do with radio/spl, you have the correct ones but even if you didn't it wouldn't affect the hardware volume buttons. it is quite unlikley it is fault of the rom but rather a coincidental hardware faliure, you can try flashing the rom again with a full wipe or even another rom to see if things change

The speaker isn't great, but it's not terrible later.
Do you notice this while running stock radio/ROM? Try a few radios and see if the same problem occurs.
Flashing a radio does NOT impact your ROM or data, it's completely separate.

Trust me the sound is horrible!
When i brought this phone it has awesome good quality sound.
Now it has very weak music with a "ggggggggggggggggggggggggggggrrrr" on the background, i've changed some radio's but none are working.
I've flashed with HardSPL 3.56 with radio 1.71.09.01.
I'm sure there is a possible fix for it but i can't find it.
Help me please.
try another radio

Try to flash back to a stock rom and see if that solves the problem, if that doesn't work maybe it's hardware. Maybe your speaker is on his final journey.
Yeah I don't think these speakers last forever, especially if you're cranking it constantly, but should go for a couple of years.
I know my vibrator is sounding pretty crappy and loose lately, I guess it's just a matter of heavy use.
Hi,
I recently installed AOSP Gingerbread 20110120 on my HTC Hero and it was working well until I attempted to install Sprint Visual Voicemail. Speakerphone doesn't work and my phone doesn't ring when I receive calls (the volume setting are high). I installed the latest Gingerbread which I hoped would fix the problem but there were no changes. Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?
Thanks!
Sounds like it may be a speaker problem. I'd try flashing another rom or nand back to your last to see if it works then. My girlfriend had the same problem and was the speaker. Sprint store fixed for 35 dollars on the spot, she was within the 1st year with the phone, not sure where you stand.

Thanks. I'll try that.
I had a similar problem and it was a hardware speaker problem (I thought the speaker had blown) I'm not sure exactly what the problem was, but I was able to fix it by removing the battery cover and pressing down on the top part of the battery (just under the camera) in random places, I'd recommend having music or something attempt to play through the phone speakers so you know if/when it worked.
I have only had that problem once since (it's been about 4 months) and every time it happens I just repeat, hopefully that's all your problem is.
I actually took my phone to Sprint today. They said the speaker was bad. It's been replaced and is working now.
Previously I flashed the update of the ROM I had been using. I was unable to access my nand backup after using the ClockworkMod Recovery (unless I wasn't doing something right).
I'll definitely try your suggestion eqzgkxokwa if it happens again
Thank you both for your help

I also had some problems like these, randomly shutting down or rebooting, i solved the problem by inserting a small piece of paper behind the battery so it will push the battery towards the metal contacts, don't know if this will help in your case, but it worked in mine.

Hi All.
I recently came into an issue with my external speakers not working. They stopped working last night when I tried plugging my phone into my auxiliary to my car. I had thought it was an issue with my cord but now the speakers for both top and bottom are not functional.
You can hear calls but not on speaker.
No music is played and no notification sounds are audible.
I went through the process of reflashing the old ROM - back to the the stock rom and did the audio test *#*#3424#*#* with the results showing that the top and bottom speakers as not working.
Has anyone come into this issue and if so has there been a resolution to this.
My current info:
4.2.2
Baseband: 4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01L
Build #cm_m7att-userdebug 4.2.2 JDQ39E

CyanogenMOD

Kernal: 3.4.10-CM-g25d8fee
Rooted: S-OFF
The headphones dont work now either. ive looked everywhere and havnt seen any other forums or members with this issue. anyone know of a possible solution?
If flashing a stock Rom didn't work, I would try running a RUU.

Can you revert back to the original ROM?!
if that didn't help take it the the service center since it is still under the warranty but be careful to revert back to stock ROM and s-on ,other wise it will not be accepted and the warranty will be considered as void.
So basically the story is and I know this has happened to quite a lot of people but one day the mic on my HTC One decided it would just suddenly have a very low input and now people can't hear me in calls unless I use my headphones with a built in mic or put the phone on speaker which they can hear me crystal clear and it's a loud volume but when in a phone call like normal without headphones or using speaker I've been told it sounds like as best as I can re describe what i was told in a text form it sounds like to the other person, "uuggh" "ugggh" "uggh" every time I am talking using it so I am hoping this is simply just an issue with firmware or something.
I am currently running paranoid android 4.6 beta 3 but I think from memory the issue occurred either after flashing a version of venom rom or after I flashed the unofficial multirom which I think is completely removed now.
All help and suggestions are highly appreciated but a suggestion of trying to access Diag mode or anything to do with that is un needed due to paranoid not including the htc self test mode in the rom.
I had the same problem..you have to change the microphone...it s not a software issue..it`s hardware

Damn that's annoying. I can't be bothered sending it back to HTC because people are reporting just getting phones back with the same issue or the purple camera issue so i'll just stick to using my headphones. Thanks for the reply though

not sure if my problem was the same but after flashing a bunch of different roms ...last one being insertcoin, I was getting complaints that people on the other end could not hear me. I would switch to speaker and everything was fine. switch back and they described me as sounding muffled ?
Long story short, I'm s-off so i just flashed back to Android 4.3
AT&T RUU and the microphone has worked fine since.

Now that's the kind of reply that I like to see. I'm currently at uni so I'll try flashing back to stock with an ruu when I get back home and see what happens and then update here but if that fixes it I will be extremely happy until I flash pack to 4.4 because I need me's some kitkat and it all starts again haha but to me if that works and solves it then the hboot update they did must have been the cause of the issue.
There must be something I can simply just flash to the phone while in s-off rather than having to flash a whole ruu because it has to be simply a low level firmware or driver issue where the noise cancellation is just not working properly
RUU Link
Hi. Do you happen to have a link to the RUU you used? Ive tried a few that I found on HTC1GURU and had a bunch of issues.
Thanks for any help!

The RUU you're supposed to use is specific to your device so if you use an RUU that isn't for your device then you need to change the CID and make sure you're s-off. The HTC1GURU download links have the CID's listed under the download as to what you need yo set your phone to
I've had this issue, and had mixed, albeit brief, successes with various methods. Tried everything, tape, gently clearing out the mic hole. It would work perfectly for a short period of time, even without me doing anything, but ultimately the mic would go back to being extremely static-y or not working. Ultimately had to send it in past the warranty and they claimed a logic board replacement was necessary ($200) and after some back and forth with me pointing out that this was my 3rd time sending in the phone due to hardware issues (bad autofocus, purple tint, etc.) they acquiesced and replaced it for free. It's a hardware issue and will get worse over time -- my advice is if making calls on your phone is important to you, bite the bullet and get it fixed.
