Hi all,
I've just gotten my Galaxy Note recently, and coming from an Xperia Play, I'd need to root it due to wanting to restore my apps etc.
My Note is on: GB 2.3.6
Baseband: N7000XXLA4
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXLA6-CL907341
I've seen a few videos and guides, and just wanted to double-check if this was okay:
I'm following this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehXcnqntsro&feature=plcp
Download Odin, Kies and I've picked "No-Wipe N7000XXLA6_N7000OXEULA1_XEU Europe (03/02/2012)" from THIS thread and follow the rest of the video?
Thank you SO much!

Hey guys,
This is my first post on these forums. I have a stock Vodafone NZ Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and am wanting to root it and install CM9 on it but have no experience whatsoever with this sort of thing so a bit of help would be greatly appreciated.
I found this post on rooting a Galaxy S but had trouble trying to understand exactly what I was supposed to do and which file to download.
I'm hoping someone here wouldn't mind directing me to the right files and explain what exactly I'm supposed to do to root my phone and then install the new ROM?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Model Number: GT-i9000
Firmware Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: I9000SRJV1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVH-CL184813 [email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWJVH
Let me know if you need any more details.
Thanks for all the help

Just that when you said the above ... so its definately a i9000 you have ?
yes it is GT i9000 but m not sure .... how can this be checked? its already rooted busy box installed.
I got an i9000 with the following:
HW: MP1.500
PDA: I9000xxJPX
Phone: I9000xxJPX
CSC: I9000OXAJPX
RFCalDATE: 2010.6.20

And what files to use with Odin, or is Korean version and I am stucked with 2.2.1 ?
PS I searched and read all post on forum, still didn't find the answer.
Thx.
Hi there! I apologise for the question as you probably get this a lot.
I can't find a clear and concise tutorial (that i can understand) on how to root my Galaxy S and its specific version.
Can anyone help me and point me in the right direction?
I am not entirely new to rooting as i've rooted my GS3 fairly easily, this however seems more difficult.
Here are my phones information:
Firmware Version 2.1-update1
Baseband Version I9000XXJM1
Kernel Version 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build number ECLAIR.I9000XXJM1
I understand I have to download a kernel of some kind so I can root in within ODIN...however there are so many CF versions I am really stuck
Thankyou in advance and a quick reply would truly be appreciated. Thankyou!
Ok...You are still in froyo so you have to update to gingerbread 2.3.3 then you have to install the "JW4_JW4_JW4" value pack that will update your i9000 to 2.3.6, only now you can flash a rooted kernel..

FYI 2.1 is eclair, not froyo. That's 2.2
Rooting Eclair is easy as hell. Just use the one click root tool.

Bought my UK unbranded Galaxy S1 on day one of release. Rooted it and installed I9000XXJPH (then the best firmware available) to try fix the notorious GPS issue. It didn't. Also installed a "lag hack" to speed things up. I was left with a slow, crash happy phone and by the time better firmware was available, Busybox was telling me that it mysteriously no longer had root access!
And now I see there are 4.3 firmwares available, making me super jealous. Hell, I'd take the most recent stock over what I have now.
So how do I get root back on a once rooted phone?
Info from phone, if it helps...

First of all flash XXJVU official and its root. You
will surely get out of the problem.
Read my post in the below link. I tried to keep the
process easy as much as I could.

Did you tried to update your device after you rooted?
Check my latest thread and you can find step by step guide with all download links working, novice-friendly.

Hey hey
A friend of mine gave me her original AnyCall Galaxy Tab. I was looking for a way to make it available to use in the US, but it seems the only source I've found (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2057050&page=3) the guide on how to root/flash it, is full of dead links to the ROM I need.
I don't suppose anybody has a copy of the ROM (either ICS or JB) sitting around that they can upload, so I can try flashing it through Odin or something?
Thanks!
