I bought LG Optimus Black week ago, Its Really Cool Phone.
I have insatalled LG PC suite 4.3.20, My phone is connected to pc suite.
When I try to Check Phone Update , It shows me Phone Update Available,
But I am not getting what kind of Update is that,
If anyone have idea about it please let me know.
I have default Froyo 2.2.2 installed which comes with phone.
Software Version is LG-P970-V10a

Yes probably it is V10b. Try to update your phone with LG mobile updater.

But update really necessary, do we have any improvements from that ?
I've eared that it helps with the battery draining issue but some people also told me that it doesn't change anything considerable and the battery problem isn't fixed. I think the kernel is the same and it also runs 2.2.2 so it's your choice. In my opinion you will not lose anything by doing the update but I also don't know if you gain something.
yes it's the 10B software. i don't really notice any difference but regarding the battery it might be a little improvement. if you root and remove some stuff you can improve the battery but that's probably the same with 10A.
if you want to update, make sure to first make a factory reset cause if you don't it might cause your phone to act weird. i didn't so i had to reflash 10A and then to 10B again.
When I connect my OB to LG Suite, it also shows me an available update.
If I try to apply it, gets me an error and tells me that my phone isn't connected.
I went into my phone settings and my software is up to date.
In my case, LG Suite shows me an incorrect information.
Guys, how come everytime I check my PC Suite IV it doesn't prompt me of any new phone update? My s/w is v10a. How come you guys have and my doesn't? And by the way, there is a new update also for the PC Suite IV. But when I tried updating it. It only shows Live Update searching and then gets lost and then gets back again. How come this happens? Does it happen to you guys to? Need your help here. Please?

An update is always welcomed, because it comes with some improvements to the phone. I made the update to v10b but i didn't find any changes, except the fixed video recording aspect ratio, which is the most important update for me and my LG OB.

you need to turn off the phone, and while plugging in the usb cable to your computer,HOLD DOWN the VOLUME UP button. there should be a screen saying "S/W update", then try using the LG mobile updater again
Thanks. It worked. I am getting SW Upgrade Please wait while upgrading screen. When i launch LG mobile update tool it is searching for very long. How do i restart the phone whithout this update?

you will just have to pull out the battery and unplug the cable, there is no other way to restart the phone
My PCsuite IV says update available, but when i proceed to mobile updation tool, it says the phone is up to date.. !!

I have the same problem....can someone tell us why we are getting that message? why PC Suite sais that there is an update and the LG Updater sais that the phone is up to date?

Because it is from LG. I had sometimes same problem. Just ignore it ;-)
I;ve got another message. When connected to Lg update tool, update available. So i pressed start update and after checking sw and phone i get " This software is not compatible" What?! Anyway, it was so hard for me to revive my phone after i bricked it.
Just LG trolling us while they sit back and laugh at all the fuss about GB
How do you update to gingerbread? I have V10B now and software update doesn't detect anything.

Guys! I have a problem here and I need your help. When I opened my LG PC suite IV it prompted me of a new update. But when I tried to update the LG PC suite, I can't. It only pop ups Live Updates searching and then it goes back off and then on again. Is there any problems with this? Did you encountered this guys? What's the solution?

Can someone please aid on the below;
I have connected the LG O2x to LG suite and checked for firmware update update (recently reflashed to 2.2.2), and am informed that there is one available (as there should be). When LG suite starts LG mobile update tool install the progress bar makes it to around 5% and the application closes (simply disappears and install is aborted). This also happens if i download the software direct from LG.
I have read that port 9002 needs to be open so i granted full access to these and tried again. Same thing happens.
I have completely disabled all antivirus software and shut off all firewalls and tried again but the same thing happens each time.
Can someone help with this please.

Try update over the air (OTA)
In your phone,go to settings,phone info,and you will find there OTA.
I'm quite an experienced droid user so this was tried. OTA states no update but lg pc suite states there is one but required the update toolkit.
I have the same problem with Lg update tool.
I restart phone and Lg update tool recognize phone and let me to update FW.
That's not the same issue. I cannot install the update tool.
I have now tried on a different pc and am greeted with lgmobilecl.dll cannot be found. And yes i'm downloading from the LG site.
I have called them and they stated that this is not a common but known issue with windows 7 32bit but why FFS haven't they fixed the issue.
So if i want to upgrade the OS i either have to manually flash it or go to carphone warehouse and pay £15 for the privilege as LG cannot do their jobs properly.

I have a optimus 4x that doesn't sync with the lg pc suite V.... so i installed suite IV and it recognizes the phone but asks to update to V because the model isn't supported by the suite IV, already tried debug mode , run suite in admin mode, tried using another pc, reset to factory, updated version to 10e (latesd in brazil), by the way I already installed the driver using lg support tool, the phone works fine no problem at all except for the sync issue... any help will be greatly appreciated, thx

Use LG PC Suite 5, it works...
And the latest brazilian version is V10C, not V10E.

Downloading the driver, I'll try that... but my firm is 10e updated with the update app that came with the phone , somewhere aroun 10/12/2012 i got this message that new firm was available....

that doesnt meen your firmware is from brazil, even if you bought it here, because there is a lot of sellers bringing it from other countries.
Do you have brazilian-portuguese or portuguse from portugal in your phone?
the only way to discover where your 4X is from, is to put your IMEI here after the "=" sign.

had tried many drivers and thought the one you post wasn't gonna work, but installed it anyway , reboot and... worked like a charm, THANKS.:good:
Still find it weird because I had downloaded the driver from lg suport...
Hey guys, newb to android community here!
So I upgraded my 4X to 4.2.1 then i rooted it and I must have messed sth up so i tryed to restore it.
I couldn't connect to my pc via LG software but I can via MTP so i used a program called LG Flash Tool,
now i am back to 4.0, i re-rooted but i still can't connect to LG Pc Suite in order to upgrade to 4.1.2,
in fact when i select LG software connection at usb settings my phone freezes and my pc can't recognise it.
I have reinstalled all drivers and searced google for 2 days but still i can't find any answers. Can anyone help me?
Try to fix your phone flashing yours location stock rom with flashtool and .kdz
