I went through 2 Invisi-Shields on my Thunderbolt + hated how they made the screen feel. what's something good for the Bionic?
invisi-shield
I've not found anything better for protecting the screen than the Zagg product. Bubbles can be a problem when installing it but liberally misting the screen and both sides of the film when installing, plus repeatedly squeegying the bubbles from center to edge, gets rid of them.
Zagg film has a funky, sticky texture but you get used to it (if you don't want to replace another cracked screen). The Zagg film seems to protect best and it interferes least with touch-screen operation. In fact, on previous phones the Zagg film improved touch-screen functionality.

lol I was actually a big Zagg fan myself. Now my favorite screen protector is......
wait for it....
Gorilla Glass!
Yeah I know you can still scratch it, but I've come to the realization that I prefer not to mess with screen protectors. But if you do want one, I vote for Zagg as well. They are pretty hard to damage and the lifetime replacement is nice to have. As far as the feel...I have really oily skin, and I've noticed that it's a pretty good lubricant for the screen protector...ewww gross I know...but I wonder if there's something you can use to lube up the surface so it feels more like glass?
Anyway, I since grown tired of all the gunk and residue left behind from the Zagg shields. On my DINC there's gooey crap all over in the seem between the glass and the body of the phone. Seems like after about a month or 2 the edge of the Zagg shield starts to look like crap. So I've decided to go naked and just handle the phone more carefully. So far it's worked out for me.
Also FWIW, my friend just bought a replacement glass kit for his DINC for $11. Yeah I know it's an older phone, but if it ever came down to it, I think I'd rather buy a replacement screen for the Bionic than deal with the headache of protectors again.
I opt for the screen's own durability myself. I have only had it for a few days but I carried my Driod 1 around in the same pocket I keep my keys in and the thing never got a single scratch. Honestly I think a screen protector is a lot more trouble than it is worth.
I just get the ones VZW sells. They last forever, 3 in a pack and only use one for the life of the phone.
I like Zagg alot myself. I really don't worry that much about scratching. The finger print buildup drives me nuts. Zagg keeps that way down. I have one on my bionic and my xoom.

Zagg is definitely the best out there imo. I'd rock it naked but i'm too much of a pansy haha
I like zag aswell you get used to the feel after ahwhile. The touch seems just as responsive.

+1 also. Have the Zagg full body protection on my Transformer and hate the feel of the screen protector. First thing anyone mentions when I let them use my tablet is the feel of the Zagg shield.
I got the 3 pack from Verizon when I bought mt Bionic. They probably aren't as good of protection but they feel like your touching directly on the screen. Also, don't get the anti glare ones from Verizon as they have a horrible feel to them. Worse than the Zagg.

The regular ones are pretty bad with prints, I'd say. My coworker has the anti-glare one and the feel/texture is unbearable!
The "normal"/Non-anti-glare ones are very smooth and, like I said above, pretty much feel like you are touching the touch screen directly.

I only use a screen protector to avoid smudges.
And yeah, they do feel weird, but after using them for a year or so - everything else feels weird! Zagg is definitely weird. My buddy has them on his Incredible and Tab. Not sure how I feel about them yet. They always look like crap.

I wrote to PPC Techs to see if they would be releasing a WriteShield for the Bionic. I used their stuff for the last 12 years on almost every phone I've had, and on my wife's iPad. They are tough as nails, piece of cake to apply and a good value. No response from them yet, but if enough people send emails, I'm sure they'd cut some to size and sell them.
Right now I have a Steinhall on mine and the fingerprints and smudges are minimal. They also make it in an anti-glare with a textured feel. Easy to install and once set you probably wont even notice it again.

Why do we need screen protectors?
It has gorilla glass, does exactly what screen protectors do, and still maintains the sensitivity...
Really believe glass covers on gorilla glass phones is a gimmick.
I prefer the Steinheil screen protectors. They cover the entire screen, and can be tricky to line up properly since the edge of the screen is beveled down slightly, but once installed correctly you can't even tell there is one on the phone. The Zagg products are good, but I prefer the smoothness of the Steinheil; it feels exactly the same as the screen itself.
Are the Steinheils of the type that you can remove, wash and replace? I can't seem to find a link for the Bionic version.
Anybody have on on their Nexus S 4G? If so how has it held up? I have the Skinomi full body on my SGSII and it has a very distinct orange peel look to it and gets damaged by my fingernails or any hits it takes...
I figure for $8 it can't be that bad..
I have it and I love mine. Pretty much every skin of this type has orange peel but I think this has less than zagg.

Hmm.. good to know. I like the Skinomi one but for $15 i decided against it. I like the body cover but not the screen on the skinomi.

I'm about to post a review on a case which has some pictures so you might be able to see the orange peel, but my camera is bad..
I've had BSE for about 9 months and I love it. It's protected the phone very well from the couple times I've dropped it on a marble floor, so I think the shock protection is worth the minimal cost alone. Orange peel effect is minimal as well compared to Zagg and Ghost Armor. I'm about to order another full body skin, because a couple corners are finally starting to come up. Highly recommend.

Thought I'd post an update here. I actually dropped my phone on pavement from about 4 feet today. Fortunately the BSE did its job and the device came out without a scratch. Just the protector was scuffed a bit in two corners and started coming up a bit. Thankfully, I ordered a full replacement a few days ago. Definitely happy with the protection offered by this product.

I got mine 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love them. It is way better than the Skinomi. I can barely tell that the back has a skin on it.
I have been using BSE for years. I tried skinomi on my NS just to try something else.... took it off a week later for a new BSE.
I have 8 android phones and two tablets covered in BSE... love it.

I use BSE for all my android devices. Love it.
with BSE, I also agree it has the least orange peel affect, but I believe it's one of the thinner screen protectors. once something gets dented into it (like keys), it stays there forever from my experience. I currently have zagg and even when something dents it, it'll "heal" itself after awhile.
for 8 bucks though, BSE is definitely best bang for the buck. I use zagg for the screen (I got it discounted) and BSE for the rest of the body
I have read through the other screen protector thread and I feel like it's just a mess to read through because it's people either simply stating what they ordered or SSHguru from just like glass suggesting his product or talking back and forth with people about the orders. Just like glass is definitely one of the protectors I am considering as well as possibly looking at the SPIGEN SGP protectors.
I have not used a screen protector on a phone in a few years but due to the screen being so big and not being able to get insurance on the phone this time I feel a screen protector is wise. I just want to make sure it will not hinder the use of the spen. I am no artist and can barely draw a stick figure or even write with a pen for that matter, I just have horrible handwriting. So as long it still functions correctly I am happy with it.
I am thinking of adding a pole to this with the ones most recommended.

I am using Just like glass, I also have horrible handwriting and cant drew worth crap! (even my stick figures are bad!) It is a great product!! and SSHguru (AKA Scott) Is great as far as responding to emails and posts / concerns. That being said the protector I relived is a little short (Files where too big to upload!) and it sounds like he had an issue with the manufacturer. So I would wait until that gets figured out before ordering!

Ok thanks! And that was one of the reasons I am interested in his JLG, it just became hard to read through everything since it turned more into a thread about his protector and why to buy no others as well as him supporting people. His support is great from what I was reading. I just wanted to get the ball rolling on a thread that is about actually using the protectors and how they have worked out for people so far on all brands. I know zagg is something I will go no where near.

I'm using the Spigen Ultra Crystal and despite it not covering the screen entirely I love it. It's virtually unnoticeable other than the fingerprints that it collects, which is something you'll see with all screen protectors(I had issues even on my oleophobic that I had on my GS2). The stylus works just as well as it did before I put the protector on it and there are zero marks on it from the stylus since I've been using it(5 days)
I'm using a Spigen Ultra Oleophobic and, in retrospect, I wish I'd left my Ultra Crystal on. The Ultra Crystal was all but invisible aside from the fingerprints that wipe off cleanly, whereas fingerprints on the Ultra Oleophobic leave behind a film that makes the fact that you're using a screen protector painfully obvious. All things considered, I should have stayed with the Ultra Crystal, and it's only my desire to not give up on a $7.50 screen protector ten days after getting the phone (as I did with my Ultra Crystal) keeps the Ultra Oleo on there.
That being said, I use my S Pen regularly, and neither Spigen protector ever showed signs of wear or marking from the S Pen. I did have an Xtreme Guard screen protector on there for a few days after getting the phone, and it was badly marked up by the S Pen. My theory is that wet-apply protectors are just a bad idea with the Note 2, as gooey plastic (which is basically what they are) is prone to being scratched up and dragged around by pointy objects.
I use the same material used on cars for their clear bras. S pen works fine, and it's very tough. I use it on my iPad 3 as well. Never buying screen protectors again. Lol

This is completely bogus. I had two zaggs on my Note 2, one replaced by Best Buy because the S-Pen marks were so profound, the second removed because it happened to the improved Zagg... Even with the second being a Zagg HD, I was 100% let down by this product. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.
The SGP Ultra Crystal is, by far, the best available, as far as the S-Pen goes. It's just too hard for it to even think about leaving marks. That being said, I am eagerly awaiting my new re-cut just like glass to see if it's all that it's cracked up to be. If not, I will be certain to let you know... and subsequently go back to a SGP Ultra.

Has anyone noticed any delay/lessened sensitivity issues with either the SGP or JLG screen protectors? It's awesome that the note 2 has 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity (I'm assuming it's built into the spen), but I wouldn't want a screen protector getting in the way of that.

I wouldn't do that...you WILL get marks on it...I can almost guarantee it. I too had the Zagg HD and after a few days use, there were s pen marks all over it. Initially it seemed like a great protector...actually, without the s pen it would be. However, if you look at your screen with it turned off you can see marks all over it. Go with xtremeguard, Just Like Glass or Spigen...any one of those will hold up better and they are all quite a bit less expensive.

wurd ^^^
In my opinion (which seems to differ greatly from many others on this board) I want to show off the beautiful glass back. What is the point of keeping it scratch free and uncracked if you are just going to keep it hidden in a case for nobody to see, anyway? This phone cost $350, I highly doubt there is going to be a huge resale value for it when it comes time for me to replace it with the Nexus 5 (or whatever they call it). I will use screen protectors for the front and back and call it a day. I figure I will buy a nice black TPU case after I break the back (if I ever break it, that is) to hide the cracks, but until then, leave it naked for the world to see.

Fortunately I received the bumper the next day, and this has made a world of difference. I no longer feel on edge every time I pick it up - I still think my naked Nexus S is more durable, but at least the bumper let's you still enjoy the N4's superior build.

@OP,
You're holding it wrong.
Like someone else said, I suggest a screen protector with a silicon backing. They are the best.
Silicon backed protectors leave no residue and the silicon will fill in scratches and make them invisible while the protector is on. Protectors that stick using static cling will not cover scratches, and other protectors that require water to apply are more trouble than they are worth, in my opinion.
I recommend these, when it comes back in stock that is:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AEU4OEE/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00
I have used their protectors on many different phones and I am always extremely pleased with the results. Unlike most non-body armor screen protectors, these come with protectors for both the front and back.
I'm not a case person. I tend to take care of my phones. I'd recommend front and back protectors, the Nexus 4 bumper, just cause it adds a little more protection and grip, without taking away from the looks of the phone, and just be as careful as you possibly can. I don't care what phone you are talking about. If you drop it right (or wrong rather) it will break.
Good luck.
Yes screen protector is a no brainer, glass can scratch even gorilla glass, not too bothered though although I have a case on order for it as my phone gets slung in a pack with a big bunch of keys and other stuff, it would look like a pile of pants in no time if I had no case.
Front and back glass looks like sex but is a little vulnerable
I pre ordered my note 8 with Verizon and it came in yesterday!
I have the spigen kick stand case on it now. Got it from Amazon prime for 17 bucks and it's great. Makes the phone easier to handle.
I have the cheap plastic screen protector that came on the phone in the box. Really can't decide on a screen protector. I hate the wet application ones and the dry adhesive tempered glass always bubble. Thinking about going raw....any one else?
I'm supposed to get mine tomorrow but none of my accessories are here and I ordered the phone after the accessories. I wouldn't do it only because of some of the complaints of the s8 and scratches on the screen. There's some screen protector that I'm gonna try that is supposed to be a hybrid between regular protectors and tempered. Hopefully I can order that soon but I'm gonna have to use the one in the box or a temporary tempered glass on it

I am,in place of a screen protector,I'm using a liquid sealer.
Here's one that's relatively inexpensive:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/NanoBlot-Liquid-Screen-Protector-Phone/165968396
https://www.walmart.com/ip/NanoBlot-Liquid-Screen-Protector-Tablet/112875380
And another that costs a bit more, but, good for several applications:
https://www.nanoflowx.com/spraygard
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nanoflow-X-...tector-PROTECTS-UP-TO-16-PHONES-/172590962858
Do these sealers work?
That's debatable, but,I've been using several different brands for about two years & while it is impossible to prove a negative I haven't had a single blemish on any of my phones for 2+ years.
Do not mistake this stuff as an equal replacement for a screen protector,it's merely providing scratch resistance, nothing in regards to breakage.
I don't recommend these sealers to everyone, especially to those who are prone to exposing their phones to scratching (using the phone w/dirty fingers/exposed to the elements/dropping/typically careless in regards to pocketing/pursing with items that may scratch on a regular basis,etc...)
I don't baby my phone, but,I do take care to keep it in a pocket holster while @ work & in a neoprene sleeve most other times.
For me,a screen protector is not necessary,so,I use a sealer for added protection against scratching.
Some think they're snake oil & TBH,I don't blame 'em,but,I loathe screen protectors as a whole,less a perfectly installed factory one,as w/the Huawei Mate 9,you'd be hard-pressed to notice.
I wish a factory-installed protector was an option, perhaps I'd be more inclined to use one, provided it didn't have the looks akin to a protective bra on a car circa 1980-1990.........................

With my first Note 7 I used Sharkproof "snake oil" and like you was very careful with daily handling. For the 4 weeks (!) i had my first Note 7 I had no issues. The only issue I had was that Sharkproof made the screen too slippery. For my third Note 7, the second was a swapped device from Samsung which went on eBay, I used Samsung's OEM screen protector. On the whole this was a great option as the S Pen worked well and was more effective than gel/TPU type and I managed not to waste money searching for the holy grail of the tempered glass solution. For the Note8, Samsung have not made available their own screen protector.
EDIT : And so for the Note8, I'm going to have to waste money on TPU/Gel like protectors until Samsung....

You would have social services take my phone in to protective custody, if you saw how I treated it.
Was just looking at my S7E screen, thinking "that's actually
pretty good, for its age". Then remembered I smashed it and had it replaced a month ago.
I have a case on it now...
My problem with screen protectors: Every one I've used has looked and felt worse than the micro scratches it might prevent.

LMFAO,you sound like one of my friends from my youth who handled LP's as if they were Frisbee's on a good day & more like a Zildjian on a drum solo..... ?
Does the S8 have the same gorilla glass the Note 8 will have?
I was so hopeful that i could forego the screen protector on this one but from reading this thread i doubt it.
Last note I had was the 4 and i had the screen crack on me.
no matter how many people say they got no scratches, never go without protector. they are either blind, lie or can't place the phone in right angle to see those scratches.
i always buy protectors because of the scratches and not because the screen could crack.
on my s4 which has gorilla glass 3. i haven't had a protector for the last year after using always the same protector 3 years before.
since then there aren't any hard scratch on the display or anything but i notice alot of fine micro scratches but only when i put heavy light on it and hold it in the right angle.
i have used it much, but mostly at home and also kept care of it. still it happened.
as far as i know and have read this isn't any better on the newest gorilla glas 5. so i will not risk anything and keep on using protectors.
for the note i just simply can't find anything good.
whitestone dome on the s8 was good, but overpriced, not friendly for every case, popped up after a few months or just cracked very fast.
not good enough for this kind of money otherwise it would be good is guess.
all other glass protectors are useless since they only stick to the sides and will force problems like bad touch, dirt underneath or popping up very fast.
then there are wet tpu protectors which i don't like. they are too thin and flexible. they just don't feel right, leave marks quickly and often got a yellow touch or rainbow effect.
also they will probably not stick long on the edges and are mostly not case friendly even if they say so.
so the only thing which i consider are the good old school tpu/pet protectors which are applied without any water or so.
i hope they will stick good on the edges and if they are case friendly nothing will pop up.
it's a little bit harder to get all the bubbles out but i rather put some time into placing the protector right and remove the bubbles then buying every few weeks a new one or even go without any.
of course they will also feel kinda cheap like plastic (it is plastic afterall) but atleast they are not so thin and flexible like the wet tpu ones.
for now i will try this one and hope it will be good. if not well then im fuc*ed cause i can't find anything else!! (

I will be using Clear View cover, so no screen protector for me.

Ordered that one from "cubevit", price is right and the reviews from someone who actually has it seem good.

I'm getting this for the note 8 as soon as it's out. I've been on contact with the company and sounds like next week. Seems like a very thick pet, or some hybrid of tempered. https://youtu.be/ksCnb3xlKU4

Ugh, i need something though!
i have this weird thing where i do protectors for at least the first yr then i just go bare. it doesn't make too much sense logically i suppose but i probably will with the Note 8 again. My S7 has been bare for a while now and has zero scratches FYI

On second thought. With the monthly insurance I pay for, why not just go with a bare screen and if it cracks, get a new one?

Bare always feels great!
However, the cuts and scratches really detract. Insurance will not cover that as normal wear and tear. So, for the first time, I'm wrapping mine up. hehe
Bought 9H screen protector. If it's not as "Sensitive" I can always take it off.

As far as someone saying the reviews are fake there is also a video review of someone getting one and he says he loves it. You can also read the comments on it. I'm gonna do a review on here as soon as I get mine so I'll let you know how it is
