After updating my Galaxy S from Froyo to Gingerbread my imei number has been corrupted I have read that if I reflash back to froyo there is a chance of recovering it. I can't find any working links to download froyo so am now wondering if there are any other methods to sort my imei. Any help would be much appreciated thanks.
Restore your EFS backup.
Ok I have my efs folder backed up to my pc do I restore it using odin or can I use Clockworkmod Recovery ( which is already on my phone)? Any info on restoring my efs would help

Just copy it into the root of your phone using root explorer (or similar) there should already be a folder there named efs.

i have flashed dxjpa firmware from this link
http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010/11/samsung-galaxy-s-how-to-install-froyo.html
this firmware is really good for my use
i dint find any bugs or any problem in this firmware..
but my only problem now is that when i am flashing
jm8 using 512 pit , repartition ticked ,.. it boots up normal but it dose not show any network signal ..
i tried to flash many firmware's but it dose not show network.
but when i flash back to dxjpa .. busing 513 pit , re partition ticked... it acts normal and i get the network signal again....
i have the orignal efs backup.. and i have also tried to restore the orignal efs folder but it dosent help when i am on any other firmware other than dxjpa..
can you tell me what is it causing this problem ..
and what can i do to go back to any other firmware.????
solved .... answer ----> i had to flash jm8 using odin pit file 512.. re-partition checked..
then i was not receiving any network signal.. that was because of some problem in the efs folder ..
luckily i had a copy of the original nv data.bin..
so what i had to do was
1) root the firmware using z4root
2) using root explorer i had to delete all the contents of the efs folder
3) i had to copy the orignal nvdata.bin file to the efs folder
4) using this code *2767*3855# on the phone pad i had to factory reset
this is how my efs folder was restored... lucky me...
moral of the story ----- >make multiple backups of your efs folder
and save it on ur computer or external sd
hi guys,
i have a serious problem now.
today I tryed to install Cyonegen ROM but during the install something went wrong and the phone started in a loop trying to boot again and again.
if i now want to insall the cyonegen.zip i get the Error message 7 (think becuse the efs folder is gone)
i have a backup of the previous EFS folder but i dont know how to restore it.
all the Tutorials i've found so far indicate that you have a working OS where you can put on the USB Debug for the ADB.
i also tryed to run samsungs kies but of course it's not recognized and kies is just telling me that the device is not supported.
any suggestions?
thanks in advance
Arne
You ever heard of Odin v1.83? Get a ROM with 3 files ([…]Code.tar, […]phone.tar, […]csc.tar) + pit file then check repartition and click start. After that your imei should be restored and you're ready to flash a custom Kernel and CyanogenMod.

Hi, i used odin mobile pro to flash the new firmware but i left spaces in the folder which contains firmware, so i got my note freezed at startup, can't find logo.jpg.
Now I'd like to save my EFS folder I forgot to save before..is there a way to access my note to save it?
What should I do?do I have to flash a stock firmware and have my efs lost?
I also got a nandroid backup of my previous stock firmware..
please help me..

my note doesn't boot up, stuck at 'charging_q1.jpg' draw failed
Did you try with Download mode then flash via PC using Odin??
AGAIN, avoid using mobile odin on the note, regardless of what anyone tells you, refer to the other posts of similar issues, they revolve around people flashing the note with mobile odin, ive done this twice myself, despite having paid for mobile odin i will not use it again, until it stops screwing up our Notes.
Stick to cmw or pc odin for stock roms, they work at least.
Hello all,
I was wondering can i change between a nandroid backup of an ICS install (say darknight) and a gingerbread nandroid backup.(say stock w/ rooted kernal)?
or do both nandroid backups need to be the same base?(ICS or GB)
Same base as nandroid required to restore.

ICS Roms run a different file system to Gingerbread Roms. As mentioned in the previous post if you wish to restore your backup you would need to first flash a stock rom then restore your backup over this.
The process is to use Odin with the 3 files (phone, pda, csc) and the 512 pit file. You will also need to have repartition checked.
You may also need to flash stock a second time using the 3 files. The 2nd time don't use the pit file and make sure repartition is unchecked.
Is there a way to get an IMEI number back without EFS folder using number on back of phone?
Usually others have been able to recover it by using Odin or Heimdall to flash back to Stock i897ucKK4. Then once there, back that efs folder up in multiple places.
Here is Stock KK4.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18370912&postcount=3
