I keep seeing this question around, when IncS will get CM9, etc etc.
Our official device maintainer for the CM9 team is Kali-
You can see his updates here:
https://github.com/Kali-
As far as I know, he works with Desire HD, Incredible S, and Incredible 2. He doesn't seem to be doing much related to CM9 right now other than adding a thing or two every other few months.
I suspect Kali-'s not doing any updates due to a few reasons:
- We don't have a 3.0 kernel
- We don't have camera working properly unless the team decides to use Twisted's code.
Both of the above will probably started once official ICS sense 3.6 WWE is released - the proprietary camera files will be updated, the camera source will be reworked to make working with the files from the sense update, and finally for 3.0 kernel HTC has 90 days to release it once sense 3.6 WWE is official.
I can build a CM9 kang right now but it's pointless because none of the camera works and there will be similar bugs as the current AOSP roms we have.

I was really just wondering if there was a new development as it was posted as something new .Please dont take this as another when will it be released question, but as an inquiry as to what the post meant..and Thanks for the explanation.

I misunderstood the post, my apology.
Don't worry about it, we are officially supported for CM9, definitely for sure.
Even if Kali- slacks off and doesn't maintain the vivo, someone else will pick up and the msm7x30-common branch will get updated.
This is the only tree to keep an eye out on for updates when they start adding fixes for camera (probably won't happen until 3.6 WWE is released)
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_htc_msm7x30-common/tree/ics
When this tree is updated, the Desire S, Desire HD, IncS/Inc2, Desire Z, MyTouch 4g will be good to go.
aside from that, the IncS tree itself is fairly easy, it's the kernel and camera/media related code we're missing.

[Q] Anyone working on porting ICS to N1?

Its sad that the Nexus one wont be getting any official updates but I still have my hopes high about 3rd party roms. I just wanted to ask if anyone is determined to port it to the good ol Nexus?
You can check the development forums, there is already work being done. As far as a full port that probably wont be done till the source is released to AOSP. That should not happenen until after the Galaxy Nexus is officially released.
After the source is released I'm sure there will be ROM's developed for N1. It is still a good phone that plenty of people including deb's use. I would guess about 2 weeks or so after the source code gets released there will be ICS ROM's ready to be flashed.

ROM 3.0

Is There a Rom for us sprint gt people running 3.0. Seems like 2.3 is becoming obsolete for all the good things. Please reply if you know anything about this.thank you much

From what I have seem we won't be getting that anytime soon. It took such a long time just to get the stable roms we have now.

there is an unofficial port of 4.0 (ice cream sandwich) being worked on HARD by volunteers in the SGT dev forum. it's booting but it's very early alpha and most things (wifi, gsm, etc.) don't work... if you give them a little time to polish it, from the progress made, i'd expect a stable version ready for beta testing inside of a month.
as for official upgrade, samsung hasn't said that it's NOT comming, however, I wouldn't hold my breath as these devices are now over a year old and the tablet / phone market goes so fast that I don't think that they are going to be releasing any updates to devices as old as the sgt. luckily, it's more or less a well documented platform with lots of great community support, and the dev guys on xda are pretty amazing hackers so there are currently quite a few aftermarket unofficial gingerbread-based roms which add many additional features, additional stability, and i find a few of them (overcome, cyanogen) actually operate far better than the samsung official roms. I would expect that the normal community development teams will be working to bring us fully working ice cream sandwich roms in the near future, so sit tight, it's coming
The fact that you're running 3.0 at all is probably about as far as ROM development is going to go on that front. As for an official upgrade, Samsung have said there will *not* be an ICS upgrade for the original Galaxy Tab. Every other member of the Tab line will get the upgrade but the original was deemed too old and too underpowered for official upgrades.

[Q] [I9000/I9001] Does this mean we can get ICS update?

I've been searching a little bit and found this: http://getsatisfaction.com/samsungmobilein/topics/will_galaxy_s_plus_get_android_4_0_update
Does it mean we'll get ICS, or not?
No... Samsung claims that Galaxy S isn't powerful enough for it. This may be true if you talk about ICS with Samsung's overlay programs (i.e. Touchwiz), but ICS is ALREADY working pretty darned well on our beloved handsets. Check out Onecosmic and Team Hacksung in the dev section. I am running OneCosmic's RC3.1 and it works wonderfully...

If they can make ICS work on Google Nexus S, they can make it work for this devices. The official ICS runs flawlessly on my dad's Nexus S. They obviously don't want to, because if they remove all of the bloatware, there will be enough space for everything.
Exactly. We KNOW it will work because we have ports that work almost perfectly already. But Samsung is in the business of selling phones, and you don't sell more phones by letting people with 2 year old handsets experience the same quality as those with new handsets.
I think we will get some Value pack, smth between GB and ICS

Samsung backed down on value pack too but a leaked version was available but was unstable and still gb ..... stupid touchwiz is the root of Samsungs problem should just remove it altogether

As I read somewhere that due to high demand of customers who are applying to update our SGS Samsung is reconsidering whether this is possible, though they updated the Nexus S should be able update the SGS. But for now it is official that there is no update.
But anyway Onecosmic's and TeamHacksung ports are functional and stables. We also have the ROM MIUI.

Nah that was a while ago, this website itself informed us Samsung wasn't doing it (probably said it to calm us down a bit then they quietly announced no value pack) so well Samsung are in clean language, not my favourite company anymore :L yeah the ports are better than anything Sammy would give us anyway not a fan of miui though

Galaxy S i9000 Getting an Official 4.0.5 ICS?

im not pretty sure about this but i read some things about this 4.0.5 and it was said it was going to be released on i9000
4.0.5 said to be has a BIG performance fix..
i got this news from this link
http://www.androiddigit.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus-and-nexus-s-to-get-android-4-0-5-ics-in-march/
Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S
The news link clearly states only the galaxy nexus and nexus S. Plus it was abundantly made clear in older news posts around the net that the i9000 is not getting ICS and neither will it get the rumored Value pack. As I too am a i9000 user, it kinda sucks to know this
i know samsung said something like that...
but.. dude i think theres a big possibility due to this
Performance FIX thing.. because thats the only one stopping from galaxy S to ICS is Performance..
I'm no great shake on what appears to me to be French, but...
1) Your Article was written for the Nexus and Nexus S and not for the GT-I900Xx (a.k.a the Galaxy S)
2) Where the Article in question even mentions the Galaxy S (Some Table taken from a presumably French source), states quite clearly (even to a non French speaker like myself that the Galaxy S is to only get Android 2.3.6 (Presumably the Value Pack Version), release date February 2012 to be released over Kies.
To indirectly quote your Source it was a table of Official Updates for their current line of Phones.
So I fail to see where you misread this Article into thinking that the Galaxy S was somehow going to get an ICS Update, when Samsung have up to this point stressed that they would not, or could not officially update the GT-I900Xx do to whatever limitations between Touchwiz 3.0 and ICS.
**Edit** What Samsung we're not even gonna get the Value Pack now?
/r/ Sauce kthnxbye!
No chance! Wishful thinking at best. SGS is useless with its 512mb RAM. Either that or the software engineers at Samsung can only compile bloat. The latest iOS seems to function perfectly on iphone4 though. Split between whether i should wait for SGS3 or grab the next iphone and jailbreak the hell outta it. Hmm decisions decisions...

U really think galaxy s1 will get Android 5?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
common guys...what makes you thinking that we'll get android 5?
Samsung will forget our phone, if he doesn't yet....
there's ported sgs2 ics firmware for sgs, it's on pre alpha state but its working very good, i'm using it right now
sgs has enough power to ics to work fine
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Samsung might forget us, but XDA devs won't! And if the unofficial ICS builds are any indication, our phone sure is powerful enough to handle ICS.
It sure does suck that we're not getting official ICS, but the awesome community here has infinitely improved my experience, so for that I'm glad and grateful.
Like Samsung is going to go trough the trouble of making an ICS version for a phone that is almost two years old.
I'd rather have them focus on creating top-notch software for my next phone..... The SGSIII......

[Q] will official ICS come on GT P7300 (india) ?

i have recently bought GT P 7300 INDIA for around 27000 INR well it has a good processor so are there chances that samsung will release official ICS for the tab
And also please suggest me stable ICS rom if any...
Currently m on 3.2
Thanx in Advance
As you are likely aware Samsung has not released ICS for the Galaxy Tab 8.9 as yet. When it will come is unknown, although they are committed to releasing it.
However there are a number of people with ICS ROMs that work extremely well on the 7300, which has wifi and 3G. However, none of the ICS roms have the camera working, front or back. The manufacturer of the camera has not released the software driver to the developer community, so until Samsung releases the official version, or until someone gets a leaked camera driver, you will not have a camera.
I have been using Galaxian AOSP for about a month. It is here:
[AOKP-R29]Galaxian-Soup[GT-7310/7300]
There are a few bugs, mostly with wifi sometimes needed re-setting after coming out of sleep, and also the camera. Other than that, I'm very happy with it.
Harry
i have asked the customer service, but they told me no ICS update now and they don't know the date of update
