[Q] help suck on boot loop - Motorola Droid 3

i installed and ran the boot strap app trying to go to recovery in order to flash an aokp Rom but when i turned off the phone then tuurned it on again it boot loops (droid then the red eye) please help how do i get out?

sounds like its sbf time..

I'm such a noob, what is sbf? I'll search it...

Oh I saw the link that explains everything thanks

Next time make a backup so if you ever bootloop you can flash your backup and go back.
I have 2 backups on my phone, one on the internal sd card and one on my external in case something screws up.

the sbf file i downloaded, when tried to open it says file corrupted
now my phone doesnt turn on. theres an image of a battery with a question mark . i can still get it to the black and white boot screen though

So... Hold M on your keyboard then hold the power button .... does it do anything?
And do you have any extra batteries? Try using them. I think its out of charge. Im pretty sure when your bricked you need a factory cable to charge it?
But if you can get to that screen go to BT tools and go to mounts and storage and put a different rom on it and try flashing it? Mounts and storage doesnt work for me for some reason but yeah maybe it will work for you.

Stuck on bootloader screen.

So I had root access. (i.e. when I first booted my G1 up it said something about a developer phone) and I tried flashing the dreaimg.nbh file to go back down to RC29. It fails every time won't let me do anything else. It just stays srtuck on the bootloader screen when I try to reboot. I've tried about everything I could think of and I'm at wits end. I really hope this problem can be fixed. Does anyone have any suggestions or know what went wrong? Thanks.
Re-download dreaimg.nbh file again. The one you're using may be corrupted.
Why do you want to go RC29 if you have root access? You should be able to flash anything on your phone as is, RC29 is only needed to gain the root.
It won't let me do anything. I'm unable to do anything to the SD card. Although, while typing this I just thought of something. If I got a card reader I could erase the file from my card since I can't do anything to the phone. Maybe that would work. But who knows because I've tried removing the card and booting up and it remains stuck on the bootloader screen. I literally can not do anything else, it's just permanently stuck like that. So I can't mess with anything. And the reason I was trying to downgrade is because I was trying to start all over again but I think I might have ended up screwing myself instead...
I am may be wrong, and please forgive me if I am, but from your post count I am getting the picture that you're pretty new to this.
Tell me if what you did is any different from these steps
You booted phone into h-boot mode holding power and camera buttons
Your phone found dreaimg.nbh and ran it on it's own.
You restarted the phone and got stuck in the boot loop.
Confirm that this is what happened
No, your assumption is not wrong at all. I am pretty new to this.
Yes, I did reboot my phone while holding down the camera button.
It found dreaimg.nbh and ran it but it failed so now I'm stuck in the boot loop with it constantly trying, and failing, to load dreaimg.
Thanks so much for your quick responses.
When it says "failed to load dreaimg.nbh" it means that it does not see it. I have a feeling that a file that you had was zipped.
Let's do this
Boot into recovery by holding power and home buttons
select wipe/factory reset or something along those lines and try booting up a your phone again. I'll be lurking around so just post what you find.
Take a note of which recovery you're running while you're at it too.
No, the file I had was not zipped I don't think cause it sees it and tries to update. It says update in progress then I get the progress bar but when it's finished it tells me: Update Terminate. Update Fail. Then it just goes back to the multi-colored bootloader screen and won't shut off. I can reset it by pressing call+menu+end but then it just starts all over again. So, I can't boot into recovery mode. Matter of fact, the only way to turn the phone off is to remove the battery. Otherwise, it just starts in bootloader mode and continues this viscous cycle.
At this point I don't even care about installing a ROM or anything, I just want a working phone.
I see. Yep.. you're S.O.L.
Just to make sure... when your phone is off and you hold power and home buttons it just goes to h-boot screen, right if so then unfortunately there's only one thing to do: get a card reader, re-download .nbh file and start over. At this point you have no working recovery or rom on your phone. Once you get that going you should be on your way to secure a root and flash whatever rom you need to.
Is it even fat32?
Damn. That's what I thought. I should have just left well enough alone until I did more research and knew exactly what I was doing but I get ADD when I'm hungover. Oh well. Thanks for your help.
This will happen from time to time.. it's always desirable to have a card reader handy. Also.. since you have nothing to loose, this would be a great time to re-format and re-partition your sdcard so you can start squiky clean.
Good luck.... let us know when this is worked out by adding [SOLVED] to the title of this thread.

How to flash phone without activesync or access to memory?

My phone got wet and now it starts up but gives me the black screen where I can press volumeup to hard reset, but it doesn't respond when I do this. I'm trying to flash it or do something to fully revert it to a brand new state, but I obviously can't use active sync and cannot get access to the phone's internal memory. How can I do anything?
flash through sd card. good luck with that. Hope you did try the phone completely
I was hoping there was a way to flash with just the sd card. Would you be kind enough to at least link me to where I could find instructions for this?
The phone is dry. It starts up fine and keeps on, stuck at that black screen. It's been a while since I got it wet.
Thanks.

Well it won't matter because it has water damage. Are the little stickers inside pink? If so then they will charge you for any repairs so it won't matter what ROM you have on..
Who will charge me for repairs?
I don't recall ever saying that I will give it in for repairs, because I am aware of the voiding of the warranty when the wet seal becomes pink. Because I realize all of this, I decided to give it a chance flashing the phone and starting it with a new install to see if that would work, as my last chance to get anything out of it.

Thanks, but I checked those instructions out already, and they assume that I am able to use activesync with the phone. The phone doesn't boot far enough for activesync on my computer to recognize it. All I can do it insert the 16gb microsd card into my usb card reader and put whatever I want on it, and then back into the phone. I would think there is a way to just put the rom onto the sd card and put it into the phone, and then press some kind of bootloader startup key combination so that the phone goes straight to the installation.

If you take a look a little further down the very same page that SonyEX1 provided, you will see this:
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the Rhodium Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to RHODIMG.nbh
4. Copy the RHODIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.
As has been stressed many a time on this forum, please make sure that you read through all of the instructions (entire page) very carefully prior to flashing.

Thanks, I noticed that note at the end of the post, but the only rom that I think I would be able to flash is the stock one, because I don't have HardSPL. I can't get HardSPL because I can't activesync the phone to my pc. So I pretty much need the stock rom in nbh format to try anything at all.
I noticed that when I enter the bootloader and plug the phone in to my computer via usb, the computer detects something and says that an htc device is attached, but microsoft activesync still doesn't recognize it and the phone doesn't show up in my computer.
So I guess the search is on to find an .nbh format for the stock rom.

I am not sure what carrier you are on, but if you download the stock ROM from whichever carrier you need (or the generic HTC ones if you have an unbranded one) it should be an .EXE file.
You should be able to right-click on the .EXE and extract the contents into a temp directory using any decent compression software (I use 7-zip). There should be a RUU_signed.nbh file that you can rename, copy to your microSD and manually flash from there.
(And if you already didn't know, you enter bootloader mode by first powering off the phone, hold down the VOL Down key, and power the phone back up while holding the VOL Down key. You should then see the tri-color screen above. This part isn't mentioned in the instructions above and assumes you already know how to get into bootloader mode.)
Thanks. I didn't know that you could extract .exe's, so I have been searching and found someone's uploaded stock rom in .nbh format. I put it on the sd card and went to the bootloader with it. Right now, It's been at a white screen that just says "Loading...". This has been going on for the past 5 minutes without changing. I don't know how a successfull rom flash is supposed to look like, so I don't know if it's working or not.
Is it supposed to be moving or what? How long do I wait before snatching the battery?
UPDATE:
I guess the stock rom that I tried previously was faulty or something, because it was hung on the loading screen, so I downloaded the TMOUSA one from their website, extracted the NBH, and put it on the SD card. Everything started looking really good because I had a progress bar and it said something like Radio OK and something else was OK and it was loading the ROM, and then all of a sudden it rebooted into the bootloader, gave some kind of error that I can't really read because it is written on top of the other text in the bootloader, goes into the Loading screen to begin installing the rom, and then reboots again. This is the loop that takes place right now.
It seems like the problem is a dead battery though, because it started flashing fine that first time, and now the phone won't even turn on unless I plug it into USB power from the wall or a PC. But when I do plug it in, it just goes through this bootloader loop. So here is where I'm stuck.
It seems like I need a fully charged battery to attempt to reflash the stock rom or install any other rom because when the phone is in bootloader, it doesn't charge the battery, and I have no means of charging it.

you should be able to charge te phone when it is completely off/ Pull the battery out, put it back in (do not power it up), and charge it over night (or at leastfor a couple hrs)
If the phone was fine before you got it wet, what makes you think re-flashing the stock rom will make it better?
I once crashed my ROM while flashing and wasn't able to do at least anything.
There was no USB-Connection or something else.
At last I entered the bootloader and there the USB-Connection was working and my Computer recognized the Mobile. So I suggest you to try this. To enter the bootloader look for any tutorials around here.
Edit: Aaargh, havn't seen your last post, so forget about it

Because as I've mentioned previously, after getting wet, the phone boots up into a black screen where it tells me that I can press the VolUP button to hard reset or anything else to soft reset. Pressing any keys at that point doesn't do anything and I can only shut it down by taking out the battery. So I decided to at least try reflashing the rom. It looked like it was installing fine with the last power the battery had, but now I have no hope.

i have heard of shops that charge batteries up but never seen one. I suppose you may be able to buy a stand alone battery dock if they do one for the Touch Pro 2. Dont you know anyone with the same phone that could charge it for you?
No I don't really know anyone with the same phone. I've called 4 shops and all said that they either don't have the same phone to put the battery in to charge, or can't perform this kind of service. I ended up taking apart a usb cable and formulating my own usb charger. Charging right now, will report on how this worked out.
Ok. This is the kind of device i meant.

If it won't power up, just try pluging in the usb cord or hold the power button for 20 seconds. Try it a few times.
I should be honest, there was an option that said format boot, and i pressed it, when i plug in the usb it wont even get detected by the computer and i already tried plugging it in and turning it on, it there any hope?
What orange thing did you wipe everything in? Was it clockwork recovery? What did you we wipe?
some cache that start with d
boot
sd
i tried the factory reset option and it wouldnt go through
i think it was mostly caches, the thing i believe screwed me was the boot
I agree...I had to reboot the 8 times many times and then it boot looped and after 1 hr of rebooting and trying to re-installing 1.0, 1.0.1 and 1.1.0 it finally went back to stock 1.0 after I placed the auto-nooter sdcard back into the nookcolor and did the 8 times...IT WORKED I got the going back screen and now I am back up and running.
OH, HAD to plug in the usb to the PC also! So plug in and sdcard and do the 8 times...
Oh god, why do people like you purchase something such as a NC and try to modify it?
Try following the steps below, or don't, and try to return your Nook Color for a new one, and in the future don't touch it. Ever.

You can make a bootable recovery SD card. If you stick that in your nook, it should boot into recovery. Once you are in recovery, you can pull that SD card. Then you can put one in that has a backup. If you don't have a backup, you could probably get yourself back to stock from there. Then just start over.

Don't worry about your Nook Color. It's all recoverable. I did some tests with my Nook too because the LogicPD thing wouldn't let me register my Gmail account. I format boot, data, and system. Formatting boot will give you the black screen you are having. You don't know if it's dead, on, or off but I assured you the Nook is not dead.
Get a copy of Clockwork and burn it to a uSD and copy a flashable sideload_update.zip to it. Put the uSD in your Nook Color. Have your Nook Color plugged to the power outlet. Hold the power button like 10 seconds. If it's not on, hold another 10 seconds until the screen powered on. Then run the recovery zip file.
Now if the LogicPD thing won't register your Gmail account, just skip it. Go to your NookTool settings, and run the second Wifi settings which does the Nook setup. There is something wrong with your Nook not getting registered causing the Market to not have wifi so it couldn't connect.

Yes, that is correct.
You want this either of the bottom two files. They are the same, just meant for different size SD cards. If you are using an SD that is 1gb or larger, either one will work.
christianrios, just to let you know, I did the exact same thing. I formatted Boot and system and my nook would not power on.
But doing the clockwork recovery bootable SD thing fixed it easily so don't worry. You'll fix it.
Im getting frustrated here, im on the cwr screen and i formaat system and data, i run the sd install reboot and nothing, what am i doing wrong?
Ok, here is what you do! Make the clockwork recovery SD card. But also! put the 1.1 rom zip file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932145 onto the SD card.
Now when you boot into clockwork recovery, select "install zip from sdcard" then pick "choose zip from sdcard" and then find the 1.1 rom and it will install. Reboot without the SD card in the nook and it should be fixed.

Also, sorry but I have no idea how to flash something. How do I do it? And it doesn't even go past it.
I should spend on time in this sub-forum.
If you have flash a custom ROM then just reflash it or try another ROM.
It's highly, highly unlikely that your phone it breaked so don't worry about.
I have never flashed a custom rom. I don't even know how to flash in the first place.
turn off hp.try to hold up-dpad(towards screen) button and switch on your milestone.
then you see black screen written Bootloader.
battery OK.
OK to program
connect USB
data cable.
if you can go into this screen, then u can start to learn to flash vulnerable recovery.
and ready to install custom room.
google around on how to instal vulnerable recovery for milestone .

[Q]Nothing will boot from eMMC

Hi all,
I was hoping someone would be able to help me out as I am seemingly in a bad situation. I received my Nook 2 days ago and rooted and tried out a few different ROMS to get a feel for the choices. In any case, for some reason my Nook no longer appears to be booting anything from internal memory. Any ROM I have tried (stock included) has failed to boot, but I can get the Nook to load CWR with the memory card in. When I say failed to boot, I mean a black screen. Like no response from the device at all.
Please if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated, I really dont know what else to do or what the problem is.
Thanks,
Michaelangelo

Get the nook restore to stock zip and the boot restore zip. Flash those both back to it. Also, make sure you are wiping, System, then Data, then Boot beforehand. And wipe both Dalvik and cache. Nook Color is nearly impossible to hard-brick (in the sense of being unable to recover from it).

This happens because the boot partition is corrupt. This is usually the result of you formatting the SD card with CM7. Due to a bug, when you try to format the SD card, it will wipe out the boot partion as well. Just restore the boot partion and you will be OK.

Is there a way to do that when the screen is not working?
An automated install or do we just push buttons as per the same task on another nook and hope
Okay, so I understand that the problem is that CM7 changed around the boot partition files, that makes sense as that was the last thing I could get running on internal memory. When I was flashing HC v4 to EMMC I also flashed a boot repair, and that still did not work. I cannot seem to find a boot repair file for stock, where do I get that.
Sorry for the noob questions, and I am definitely trying to use search the forums for answers before i ask these questions!
We have life!!! I found a stock boot restore file and it turned out to work, I am back to stock again. Man this is sure a learning experience. I have been flashing my Evo for a while now, but the nook is a different beast all together.
Thanks for your help all, I think I am good from here on out!

The solution I am trying now is to leave it for a few days so tonight/tomorrow we'll see if it comes back!

How do you know it's booting into CWR on the SD if the screen is not working?
If your screen is not working when booting from a SD card, then.. maybe there is something wrong with your nook???

If I boot nooter 0.2 then the USB plug goes green which apparently indicates booting. Oh and OMAP3630 shows up for a second on booting too.
Thing is I didn't do anything to break the screen and there is no physical damage to the unit. so it's just weird

I thought I had the same issue because of the screen being blank. That said it is highly unlikely your hardware ( ie screen ) is bad. I was able to get mine working correctly last night doing what is mentioned above. However to get it to work right booting into CWR via a bootable sdcard I had to make a new bootable sdcard from the one I had. Not sure if something was corrupted on the card I was trying to use or what. But as soon as I made a new bootable sdcard and put it in the device and powered on it boot right up to CWR off the sdcard like I needed so I could fix it. So my suggestion if you can is take a totally different sdard fro the one you have been using and make a new bootable sdcard and give it a shot.
BTW with no card in the device hold the power key down for about 20 secs to make sure it is fully powered off. Even tho your screen is blank does NOT mean it is fully powered off as I learned real fast last night when I tried working on mine. I thought it was off from the night before but it must not have been because I put a bootable HC sdcard in it and when I plugged it in I got a msg saying battery to low to power on plz try again in 15 mins. About 10 mins later I came back and it was finally powering itself on and booting into HC off the sdcard. So I let it fully charge and then start playing with it to finally get it back up and running again.
