Here is my situation... Wifes bionic is on leak. 904. Shortly after she has had charging issues and now it wont connect to the p.c also. After i reboot it it will charge just fine but it will not connect to p.c any suggestions? Known bug or do u think the port is damaged?

Lots of folks have had problems connecting with tether. Not sure about your case, but I was on my fourth cable and still it did not work. I finally called Moto and they sent me the correct cable. It was clear in my case that the information the VZ support people were given was not clear enough to help select the right cable.
Shouldn't you be able to let the phone update to current version to make sure you software install is OK?
No, you have to be on. 902 in order to update to. 905. I might try to see if it will connect in fast boot. If it does I guess Ill just flash back to. 902
I tried several (6) cables including moto cables... nothing

Do you have the latest drivers?
I do. My pc dosent even recognize it being plugged in..( the bah dump ) beep.

I was upgrading my wifes bionic last night and came across this problem as well (ironically with a moto cable). Swapped out with my HTC cable from my Thunderbolt & it came right up in mass storage. Apparently some older cables aren't compatible with bionic! Shocked me too.

OP,
Since ur on CM7, do u have the correct drivers installed (Nexus S) and did u try rebooting ur computer ??
Yeah and I even tried updating sdk again. And also my wife's captivate runs on cm7 also. I also tried different USB ports and a non Samsung cable I can't think of anything else to try

Well after about 3 hours of plugging and unplugging the usb it works now so im back on stock 2.2 and i have to say man does this suck. Im sort of half scared to move back to a gingerbread rom or cm7 again. Im going to check and see if i still have usb issues i hope i do so i can return this phone under warranty

I had the same issue. I uninstalled my drivers for the phone, then reinstalled them.
i got the bionic in the mail today, installed the drivers and crap to my PC, and my phone wont detect that its connected to a computer! ive wiped data, and reinstalled the drivers a few times, whats wrong?
Try a different PC different cord enable debugging under development in settings and just toggle that lastly you can run a fresh install of windows

I called Verizon last night.. they said that the bionic is planned on getting an update next week.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
what does that have to do with anything..
Sorry forgot to put the last part. They said that problems like this would be resolved
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
Also make sure you are using one of the rear USB ports if you are on a desktop PC - the front case ones are not always the best quality.
On top of that did you try rebooting both PC and phone? Helped mine a few times when the PC wouldn't pick it up.
Yea i tryed all that... verizon sent a replacement... should be here today

Can you use safestrap to restore cwm backups?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
You may have to move them to the safestrap/backups folder but yes you should be able to. Maybe even install zip from sd card would work
Sent from my XT875 using xda premium
They always say that...
OP, are you using a Motorola cable?
You have to use a Verizon branded USB cord. They have some partnership to make sure you pay $20 for something worth $5. Other USB cords will let you.charge but nothing else.

Hey guys I'm on ics .235 leak and can't for the life of me root this thing. I have played with many Samsung and HTC phones in the past but can't figure out this bionic. I want to flash either liquid or blackhole but I can't even root stock. I have razr root one click. Latest drivers and USB debugging. Please help. Thanks.
It starts and sticks at daemon running

Ok so your using the razr root and have usb debugging on right? If so, it must be a driver issue.

Make sure you are using a good cable, preferably moto brand and make sure it is connected to a usb port directly connected to the motherboard.

I don't have moto cable. Just got the phone today as warranty replacement for my Samsung charge. So I have that cable and another universal USB that works with my touchpad. I have windows 7 64 bit and have uninstalled reinstalled software/drivers 3 times and have rebooted uncountable times. It doesn't get past daemon started successfully. In regular adb I tried adb devices and get list of attached devices but its blank. Any alternate way to root this phone. This is the first time I had a problem on android that I couldn't solve. Please help me my flashing finger is itchy

Another thing I just installed terminal from market and same issue of not showing up when I type adb devices happens on terminal emulator. Wth is going on Here.

You may want to get a moto cable on Ebay our somewhere like that, these phones can be finicky with other cables. Or see if anyone you know has one they can lend.

Never woulds thought the USB cable can be so important. I think a buddy of mine has one at work. Will try later today. Thanks again guys.

The only other thing that I can think of is the usb mode. You have it set for MTP, right? If that's the case, then it should show up in your computer's Device Manager as an ADB Interface called Mot Composite ADB Interface. I got it to work on mine, using Win 7 64bit.
Tried it in mtp but doesn't list as advanced device. Debugging is on and unknown is checked
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda app-developers app
Is it showing up in your Device Manager at all, even even if it's under unknown devices?
Yes. Shows up as Motorola USB networking device. Under network adapters and also ad Motorola USB composite device
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda app-developers app
That is very interesting. Those both come up when I have it showing it as an ADB interface as well. Perhaps you can toggle between Mass Storage and MTP while it is connected and also toggle ADB Debugging off then back on and see if that does anything. Other than that, I can't think of what else it might be.
EDIT: I just noticed that it appears as an ADB device when it is in PTP mode too.
Also, have you tried powering it off and taking the battery out for a minute before putting it back in and powering on?
I really appreciate your persistence. I have tried everything u said. Never comes up as adb. Maybe you can email Mr your drivers. [email protected]. battery sucks and wanna go a liter rom. Correct me if I'm wrong but I have to root and install safestrap yo flash an ics rom

I won't be back at my computer for a while, but i will send you the drivers that i used when i get back. You do need to be rooted to install safestrap as far as i know. One if the biggest battery drains that i have seen is the motocast process which runs with my music. You may be able to disable it in the manage apps menu without being rooted, however you won't be able to use My Music if you do. It isn't the same as the motocast app that you can download. It may just be something unique to my setup, but it just kills my battery when it is enabled. It's something to look at. There is an app called GSam battery monitor that it's good for determining what is causing battery drain, i highly recommend using it for a while.

Yea thats where i got my drivers. I guess im stuck. Oh well. This powet button sucks anyways so I'm gonna have Verizon send me a replacement. Hopefully I have better luck with a new phone. Think they be mad if I sent it back with ice leak on it?

Hello
My dads Droid 4 is rooted running JB. I have safe strap installed. One day he took the phone out of his pocket and the screen was off. He gave me the phone to work on but I still cannot get it to boot. It turns on when the wall charger is plugged into it but comes up with either 5%-100% battery or a question mark within a battery. I can sometimes get it to boot into safe strap but that's it. I was wondering if anybody has any insight of what is wrong or knows how they can help me fix this issue. Thanks for reading!!
Sorry but looks like you'll need to do this the painful way

You'll have to SBF back to stock JB. I think you have the same problem my old LG Ally had. It's a random softbrick, unless I'm wrong. The cure is to SBF back to stock JB using a Windows machine.

Ah I see, I suppose you'll need a Motorola factory cable attachment from Team Black Hat. I made a factory cable myself with the aid of a friend who knew how to solder, but it was a little unnerving - if we messed up, would have fried the phone and computer. Anyway, get the attachment, and it should charge fine from the compute, plus you'll be able to SBF.

Thanks for the recommendation, but one point that I need to clarify is that the TBH Factory Adapter or cable will not charge the device at all.
It bypasses the battery and charging circuit altogether and powers the device directly from the USB.
This is an important distinction to make and it means that the device will always power on and boot no matter what, with or without a battery, and allow you to flash it with RSD Lite or fastboot or manually fix whatever problem was preventing it from booting and charging normally.
Then, once fixed, it will be able to boot and charge properly.
It will never charge when the factory cable/adapter is attached and for non removable battery devices like the D4 it will actually immediately power off the device when the USB cable is disconnected.
Good luck with your phone and congrats on fixing it yourself.
We think the adapters are a much safer and inexpensive solution for most users and believe everyone who mods their Motorola device should have one...before the need arises to actually use it!
So I made a cable and sbf the phone...still comes up with the battery with the X in the middle... Guessing its the battery that's bad? Not too sure

I don't think you are having a driver issue as you don't need drivers to charge via USB. Have you tried another cable? It sounds like the one you are using may be damaged or worse, the port on your phone.
Does it charge via wall with the same cable?
It charges via the wall charger but it can't connect to any computer with any cable. I don't know what happens.
Sent from my XT1058 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Get another usb cable and try that first to rule out if it's the cable or your phone that's having issues with connecting/charging via the computer.
I try a few cable but it won't work
