How to Flash:
In order for this to work, the HTC Incredible S needs to be S-OFF. Flashing the radio with a corrupt file or interrupting the flash, can brick the device, please proceed with caution.
1. Download the your choice of radio for the HTC Incredible S.
2. Make sure the filename is PG32IMG.zip exactly or it will not work and copy it to the same folder as adb (the /platform-tools folder within the Android SDK folder).
3. Connect the HTC Incredible S to the computer via USB.
4. On the computer, open terminal and run the following commands:
Code:
adb push PG32IMG.zip /sdcard/PG32IMG.zip
adb shell md5sum /sdcard/PG32IMG.zip
NOTE: The md5 should match up the provide the original download location. If not, redownload & try again.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
5. The HTC Incredible S will reboot & usually boot into fastboot. Pressing the Power button will put the device into the bootloader.
6. The bootloader will scan for the radio update. Once it finds the update, select Yes.
7. Allow the bootloader to finish flashing the updated radio, and reboot the HTC Incredible S normally.

It's the same radio.
For Canadian users, be sure to modify the android-info.txt file to add support for your device or you'll get a model id incorrect update fail error. For those who don't know how I've included a modified one below. Simply replace the android-info.txt file with the one below and re-zip the files with the same PG32IMG.zip file name.

Boot into Bootloader (with the fastboot option unchecked in the power menu you hold volume down and the power button until you see the bootloader screen.)
If it says S-Off near the top of your screen then yes you can apply the radio, if it says S-On then no you can't.

That's a known workaround, but many users don't have adb to flash with it.
And since the file named PG32IMG.zip it should be flashable via HBOOT as it said in OP like other radios!!
Those who want to try the adb way, just download the radio zip file from ARHD thread(it's in the first or second post), then overwrite the radio.img in that folder with the one you want and just run the commands as mentioned above or follow the instructions included in the notepad file.

Well there is if he unlocks the bootloader and roots the ROM, then you could run the misc_version app to change the mainver to 2.00.0000 (that is the key to the downgrade script) and then he could flash an older RUU with HBOOT 1.13.
It defeats the true purpose of the downgrade script which is an alternative to unlocking the bootloader via HTCDEV.com, but it is a solution if you truly want S-OFF.

Stock HTC ICS ROM downgrade/revert back to Gingerbread
I had a similar problem this week-end.
I was originally running on the stock HTC rom, but with unlocked bootloader via htcdev, clockworkmod recovery and superuser root (but still S-On).
I then received the ICS upgrade (for which I had to revert to standard recovery and system by flashing with fastboot in order to apply it)
ICS was awful (for me bluetooth really unstable, kept not disconnecting after target device was powered down, and then just opening the bluetooth settings would crash the phone - even after I factory re-set it, it was the same), so I wanted to go back to gingerbread which was rock solid.
So for me the process after a lot of trial and error was (from memory) to get back from standard HTC ICS (which was hboot 2.02.002, software version 4.10.xxx) to standard HTC Gingerbread (hboot 2.01.xx software number 3.11.405.2):
- unlock bootloader (from htcdev.com) (I ended up being given the same unlock_code.bin file that I had from the last time I unlocked the phone, even though the 'token' text was different. This is the third time I have unlocked the phone (I re-locked then re-unlocked during an earlier OTA sw ugrade) and each time the unlock file is identical (binary compare equal). Even so for the sake of it since it's a binary file flashed directly I think I'd be safe and still use htcdev to generate a new file 'next time' just to be safe.
- flash custom recovery (i used 4ext) using fastboot
- root by installing superuser using 4ext (making sure to use newest version of superuser = version 3.13(? _signed arm v7). The previous version of superuser that I had used to root the Gingerbread HTC ROM (v3.0?) didn't work with ICS, it flashed OK but still had no root when the phone was running as I noticed by trying to upgrade busybox from within it's app.)
- run the misc_version tool from adb shell and set version to back 1.00.00
- re-lock the bootloader (I think the command was "fastboot oem lock"). This is necessary in order to allow the RUU to run. Took me a while to figure this out as none of the posts I had read mentioned this was necessary.
- apply the RUU for Gingerbread - I originally ran a very early version with hboot 1.13 in) then ran the later ones to bring me back to the last gingerbread version before the ICS upgrade. I don't know if that was strictly necessary, perhaps I could have just gone straight to the one I wanted.
- re-unlock via htcdev (same unlock_code.bin)
- flash custom recovery
- then I could have re-rooted as before but I actually restored an earlier nandroid backup of my rooted HTC gingerbread system so got root that way
Sorry for the lack of specific detail and file name/versions, I'm not a home where all my files are so I can't be sure.

Hi,
Does the Nik_Project_X_Rebirth rom works with HBoot version 2.02.0002 and Radio : 3831.18.00.11_M (which are official)?
my incredible s bootloader's is unlocked using HTC Dev method and I have a custom recovery Installed
I Installed the Nik_Project_X_Rebirth rom but I'm stuck with HTC Logo...any options to make it possible work please?
Here's ua solution...
Open the rom take boot.img from dat zip file...paste in the folder where u installed adb n fastboot drivers(if it ask u want to overrite file select yes)...connect phone to pc turn on ua phone on in bootloader (volume down+ power) open cmd n type fastboot flash boot boot.img (i hope u knw how to use adb)...remember we are still s-on soo if any rom dosent boot thn repeat this method...it wil work... Good luck...

There is of course a way to obtain S-OFF and i did make a guide. For the most part, people dont need S-OFF but people usually need it for Blackrose HBOOT and cuz were lazy and dont wanna type in the command line

your phone was officially unlocked, you need to use adb to install boot.img every time you flash a new ROM, very complicated for me,so use XTC to get s-off or just flash the BLACKROSE is recommended(forgive my poor english)

Because ua phone is unlocked it is still s-on (security on)...for security issue you hav to flash boot.img every time...if u s-off-ed (security off) ua phone further then boot.img will flash automatically no need to flash dat manually...yesterday i s-offed my phone n installed vipervivo...

Err based on my understanding ure trying to ask if Blackrose affects Battery and Backup??? No it should not.
As for the second part, i would still recommend installing Blackrose anyways. Its useful to have and it doesnt create conflict with any ROMs or watever.

You'll just need to unlock the bootloader(follow htcdev's steps)and even though it's s-on,you can still flash both custom recovery and ROM.BTW I used to reflash boot.IMG every time I flash a ROM,but since the developer made the ROM so perfect that I haven't reflash it for several Roms(it only happens on s-on unlock devices)
